  On a SMP machine we must use spin_lock_irqsave and not spin_lock_irq from interrupt context. Why would we want to save the flags (which contains the IF)? Is there another interrupt routine that could interrupt us? The flags are per CPU?

  I have a Gnome applet written in Python. In order to save configuration data/settings, it creates a file ~/.appname. However, this prevents multiple instances of the applet from being added to the panel because each cannot have its own settings. How can I store the settings in a way that allows each instance to have its own unique settings? Update: I specifically want to know how to store settings per instance.

I would like to rename the files, but the rename must be done from within the application so that it correctly updates its own metadata. This means that I cannot simply use SVN's rename command — the application's metadata will become inconsistent. So how can I can I tell SVN that the files in the working copy have been renamed by this application, so that it preserves history in the same way as per the rename command?

  I have a iAd that seems to be correctly displaying but when push a new view controller into the view i get a warning from the iAd that says it has been: WARNING A banner view (0x490fd0) has an ad but may be obscured. This message is only printed once per banner view. But the ad still runs fine so should i pay attention to this? I just tried adding self.adBannerView = nil; [adBannerView release];` just before i push the viewController but i still get that error

  well, i have network that each proxy (lets assume we have 200 proxies), send UDP packages every constant amount of time. (let assume 10 seconds) to constant amount of hosts (lets assume 10) my question is how will 6 * 10 seconds * 200 proxies * 10 target hosts = 120,000 UDP roundtrip communication per minute will affect my network, in terms of available connections, speed, stability, UDP package loss rate etc... can anyone please refer me to some links on this issue ? thanks

  Per subject, how does msbuild decide whether it needs to rebuild a library (ie, invoke csc), or not, when it is run against a C# project file? I imagine (but want to confirm): If there's no output directory, rebuild (duh :) ) If a C# file has changed, rebuild If an included file marked copy-always has changed, rebuild or is it smart enough to not rebuild, but just copy the file to the existing output?   I have a table of data as follows id status conversation_id message_id date_created 1 1 1 72 2012-01-01 00:00:00 2 2 1 87 2012-03-03 00:00:00 3 2 2 95 2012-05-05 00:00:00 I want to get all the rows from the table in date_created DESC order, but only one row per conversation_id. So in the case of the example data above, I would want to get the rows with id 2 and 3. Any advice is much appreciated.
