• Spring Security Issue: Controller, Anonymous Requests...

  Hey guys, I have an app that uses Spring security and BlazeDS. Flex 3.2 is used for the client app. Generally client app makes service calls using RemoteObjects. However, for certain cases client app is sending a request to a URL. We're using Annotated Controllers for URL mapping. • Map a column to be IDENTITY in db with EF4 Code-Only

  Although I have marked my ID column with .Identity(), the generated database schema doesn't have IDENTITY set to true, which gives me problems when I'm adding records. If I manually edit the database schema (in SQL Management Studio) to have the Id column marked IDENTITY, everything works as I want it - I just can't make EF do that by itself. • Remote search system for samba shares

  I have several shares residing on a samba server in a small business environment that I would like to provide search facilities for. Ideally this would be something like google desktop with some extra features (see below), but lacking this the idea is to take what I can get, or at least get an idea for what is out there. Using google desktop search as a reference model, the principle additional requirement is that it is usable from clients over the network. In addition there are some other notes (note that none of these are hard requirements) The content is always files, residing on a single server, accessible from samba shares. Standard ms office document fare Also a lot of rars and zips which it is necessary to search inside. Permissions support, allowing for user-based control to reflect current permission access in samba shares. The userbase will remain fairly static, so manual management of users is fine. majority of users will be Windows based I know there are plenty of search indexers out there: beagle and tracker seem to be the most popular. Most do not seem to offer access control and web-based/remote search does not seem to be high priority. I've also seen a recent post on the samba mailing list asking for pretty much the exact same thing. (They mention a product called IBM OmniFind Yahoo! Edition and while their initial reception seems positive, I am pretty skeptical. RHEL 4? Firefox 2? Updated much?) What else is out there? Are you in a similar situation? What do you use?

  Hibernates is generating a VARBINARY column with JPA @Enumerated annotation. I'm using SQL Server 2005 w/ JTDS driver. The mapping is dirt simple: @Basic @Enumerated(EnumType.ORDINAL) private MyEnum foo; I would have expected Hibernate to generate an integer column? I've also tried EnumType.STRING (expecting a varchar column) with no success. Note that my app works fine; the column type makes it hard to inspect the DB, and to issue adhoc SQL when poking at the database.

• Avoid implicit conversion from date to timestamp for selects with Oracle 11g using Hibernate

  I'm using Hibernate 3.2.1 criteria queries to select rows from an Oracle 11g database, filtering by a timestamp field. The field in question is of type java.util.Date in Java, and DATE in Oracle. It turns out that the field gets mapped to java.sql.Timestamp, and Oracle converts all rows to TIMESTAMP before comparing to the passed in value, bypassing the index and thereby ruining performance. One solution would be to use Hibernate's sqlRestriction() along with Oracle's TO_DATE function. That would fix performance, but requires rewriting the application code (lots of queries). So is there a more elegant solution? Since Hibernate already does type mapping, could it be configured to do the right thing?

• Juniper router dropping pings to external interface

  My organization has a Juniper SSG20-WLAN that routes our traffic to the outside world. We've been having intermittent problems with our internet connection so I wrote up a Python script to ping the internal interface of the router, the external interface, a couple of our internal servers, the ISP router our router talks to, their upstream provider, and Google and Yahoo for good measure. It does that about every minute. What I have found is that when our internet goes out, our Juniper router ceases responding to pings on the external interface. Everything past that is, of course, unreachable. The internal interface and our internal servers continue to echo back without interruption. None of the counters indicate dropped packets of any type. They all look normal. The logs complain about VIP servers being unavailable but otherwise nothing indicative of network issues. My questions are these: Does this exonerate our ISP? Or, contrawise, might a problem with the connection be causing the external interface to go down? Is there somewhere else in the SSG20, beside the system log and counters, that might help me track down info on the problem? UPDATE: Turned out that one of the switches between my monitoring box and the router was a router itself, and occasionally diverting from the gateway to itself. Kudos to those who made suggestions along those lines. Not really sure which answer to mark as accepted, as it was really stuff in the comments that turned out to be right. Thanks for the suggestions.

  I have tried 10 different emails hosted at Google, Yahoo!, GoDaddy, and some that are privately hosted, and each time I get the following errors. I have blocked sensitive information, but you will be able to see the errors. I'm at my wits end, because I use this same setup on each of my servers, and they all work.

• How do I get the same key bindings in vmware's Window and Mac [closed]

  I have a macbook but sometimes I run Windows in vmware to program in Visual Studio. I have a swedish keyboard, to get the curly brace '{' I press alt(=option)+shift+8 in mac, but to get the same character in vmware/windows I should press alt+7. Obviously, I would like to have the same keyboard layout in mac and windows, how can I make this happen? I have been recommended to use autohotkey on Windows, but I have a problem mapping AltGr shift 8 to a character (i.e. <^!+8:{ does not work) (I state the question in this forum because I think that only programmers can answer it, we are the only ones that use the characters []{} )

• How to configure amavisd-new for only scanning on particular senders/servers?

  I'd like to know how to configure amavisd-new to only scan for Spam on particular clients (IPs, CIDRs or hostnames) or alternatively sender's email domain. I know that it is possible to do it on a recipient's mail address but not on how to do it for the sender's mail address. It is even possible to do it on a recipient's IP address with policy banks. But my approach should be to be independent of recipient and only relay on the sender. What I want to accomplish is to only scan mails originating from Yahoo, Google, Hotmail and the other big senders. So it is easier to configure which senders should be observed than the ones that shouldn't. I known that it is easier to achieve on the MTA side, but that is not part of the question because I already go a solution on the MTA side. I want to do it on amavisd-new. And it doesn't help to know how to put senders on a whitelist, as this still means that the mail goes through all the scanning but then gets a high negative score. The mail shouldn't be scanned at all unless sent by the big players. So which parameters in amavisd-new is the right one to enable scanning for particular senders and only for these?

• Decode sparse json array to php array

  I can create a sparse php array (or map) using the command: $myarray = array(10=>'hi','test20'=>'howdy'); I want to serialize/deserialize this as JSON. I can serialize it using the command: $json = json_encode($myarray); which results in the string {"10":"hi","test20":"howdy"}. However, when I deserialize this and cast it to an array using the command: $mynewarray = (array)json_decode($json); I seem to lose any mappings with keys which were not valid php identifiers. That is, mynewarray has mapping 'test20'=>'howdy', but not 10=>'hi' nor '10'=>'hi'. Is there a way to preserve the numerical keys in a php map when converting to and back from json using the standard json_encode / json_decode functions?

• Any good card game AI strategies?

  What would be strategies for writing a good computer opponent for a card game? Most card games are games of incomplete information, so simply mapping out and traversing the game tree as one could do with a board game does not seem too promising. Maybe one could track what open cards are in the game (as soon as they are revealed) and assign probabilities to certain events (e.g. opponent still has 2 cards of clubs).   I have a "global variable" XML schema in TIBCO BusinessWorks. It's simpler than it looks - basically just a single repeatable node. Image: Tibco globals. (old URL redacted) Various processes in the system can update this list. Checking to see if they are listed is easy: $GetVariable/subscriber-list/subscriber = $_processContext/ns:ProcessContext/ProcessId Adding themselves to the list is pretty easy too, using a Set Variable activity (see bottom half of image) But how can a process remove itself from the list? I'm sure there's a type of mapping I can use to filter out the node I want and let the rest through?

• Getting a 404 when setting up MVC in IIS 6 and using .NET 4 beta 2

  Hi all, I've completed this set up on a fair few IIS 6 boxes, but one is giving me a tough time. The problem occurs when I add the application extension mapping to: c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v4.0.21006\aspnet_isapi.dll When this is in place, I get a 404 error on every request. Even if I remove all files from the application directory apart from a basic test.htm and navigate to that, I still get a 404. I've unchecked the "Verify that file exists" I've set up a .NET 4 application pool and pointed my application to that I've changed the ASP.NET version to 4.0.21006 I've checked the IIS log file, and there's nothing useful in there (it only shows the first bunch of requests after each reboot and then stops logging) I've checked the application event log and nothing gets reported I've installed MVC 2 I've copied the set up onto another box, just to be sure, following all the same steps - and it all works! What else can I look out for?? N.B: If I set .NET to v2 in IIS, then I can successfully navigate to \test.htm

I use POCOs and XML mapping. Getting cached object from the same datacontext is ok, but when I call query with new DataContext I don’t want to get object from old datacontext. • Hostname error on my Slicehost Ubuntu server

  Like many folks who upgraded to Rails 2.2, I got an exception raised when sending an email. This version of Rails or later does require using tls for sending emails. The message in the production log file says: hostname was not match with the server certificate I did a whole lot of research and work on this and did everything I could. I changed my slice's hostname to ohlalaweb.com. If I run the command 'hostname' at the CL I get: ohlalaweb.com Postfix seems to work fine. I can send emails from the CL to my gmail, yahoo, and google apps gmail accounts with no problems.   I realize that title may require explanation. The language I first learned was C, and it shows in all my programs... even those not written in C. For example, when I first learned F# I wrote my F# programs like C programs. It wasn't until someone explained the pipe operator and mapping with anonymous functions that I started to understand the F#-ese, how to write F# like a F# programmer and not a C programmer. Now I've written a little javascript, mostly basic stuff using jquery, but I was hoping there was a good resource where I could learn to write javascript programs like a javascript programmer.

• Web-based map authoring with ArcGIS Server?

  I'm embarking on a project in which users will author, save, and share their own maps over the web. We will provide them with a large number of feature classes, but users will effectively author their own maps, map symbologies, etc. Furthermore, they will create and edit their own feature classes, which they can both map and share with other users. The model for AGS map services seems to be: author a map in ArcMap, save an MXD/MSD, publish. I'm struggling to understand how this can help us build a dynamic web mapping platform as described above. Can anyone offer some tips on how to go about it?

• Implementing Security on custom BCS/.net class?

  I'm implementing a custom BCS Model to get data from a backend system. As the backend uses it's own user management, I'm accessing it through a service account. All of this works well and allows me to pull data into SharePoint. However because it's channeled through the service account, everyone can access it, which is bad. Can anyone give me some tips which method to implement? The backend does not give me NT ACLs, but I wonder if I could just "fake" them somehow? (Essentially saying "This NT Group has Read Access" is good enough). I am aware of ISecurityTrimmer2 for Search Results, but ideally I want to cover security inside the BCS Model so that it applies to external lists as well. I want to avoid using Secure storage and mapping each individual user to the backend.

• Godaddy domain and Bluehost web hosting

  I have a domain from Godaddy and web hosting at Bluehost. I want to make this work as some people say no need to transfer the domain from Godaddy to Bluehost. I was trying to find out how to get this work out by adding name servers for Bluehost ns1.bluehost.com ns2.bluehost.com at Godaddy. This works fine, but not sure if 100% OK yet. The reason why I say that is when I type in my address name on any browser this way: mydomain.com it doesn't work. Instead I get an error message stating that this server is not found or couldn't connect to it... However, when I write the domain name and include the www. prefix it works fine... The other problem is when I search in google or yahoo, the domain shows like this: mydomain.com , which is not really good because my clients think my site is down because of the error message, and most new people don't know if they have to add www. to the domain to work. I just want to make at least the domain works like this: mydomain.com
