  • Code crashing compiler: main() returning a struct instead of an int

    - by AndrejaKo
    Hi! I'm experimenting with a piece of C code. Can anyone tell me why is VC 9.0 with SP1 crashing for me? Oh, and the code is meant to be an example used in a discussion why something like void main (void) is evil. struct foo { int i; double d; } main (double argc, struct foo argv) { struct foo a; a.d=0; a.i=0; return a.i; } If I put return a; compiler doesn't crash.

  • Java - Need help with binary/code string manipulation

    - by ShrimpCrackers
    For a project, I have to convert a binary string into (an array of) bytes and write it out to a file in binary. Say that I have a sentence converted into a code string using a huffman encoding. For example, if the sentence was: "hello" h = 00 e = 01, l = 10, o = 11 Then the string representation would be 0001101011. How would I convert that into a byte? <-- If that question doesn't make sense it's because I know little about bits/byte bitwise shifting and all that has to do with manipulating 1's and 0's.

  • bitshift large strings for encoding QR Codes

    - by icekreaman
    As an example, suppose a QR Code data stream contains 55 data words (each one byte in length) and 15 error correction words (again one byte). The data stream begins with a 12 bit header and ends with four 0 bits. So, 12 + 4 bits of header/footer and 15 bytes of error correction, leaves me 53 bytes to hold 53 alphanumeric characters. The 53 bytes of data and 15 bytes of ec are supplied in a string of length 68 (str68). The problem seems simple enough - concatenate 2 bytes of (right-shifted) header data with str68 and then left shift the entire 70 bytes by 4 bits. This is the first time in many years of programming that I have ever needed to do something like this, I am a c and bit shifting noob, so please be gentle... I have done a little investigation and so far have not been able to figure out how to bitshift 70 bytes of data; any help would be greatly appreciated. Larger QR codes can hold 2000 bytes of data...

  • How to set up a Bitmap with unmanaged data?

    - by Danvil
    I have int width, height; and IntPtr data; which comes from a unmanaged unsigned char* pointer and I would like to create a Bitmap to show the image data in a GUI. Please consider, that width must not be a multiple of 4, i do not have a "stride" and my image data is aligned as BGRA. The following code works: byte[] pixels = new byte[4*width*height]; System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.Copy(data, pixels, 0, pixels.Length); var bmp = new Bitmap(width, height, System.Drawing.Imaging.PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb); for(int i=0; i<height; i++) { for(int j=0; j<width; j++) { int p = 4*(width*i + j); bmp.SetPixel(j, i, Color.FromArgb(pixels[p+3], pixels[p+2], pixels[p+1], pixels[p+0])); } } Is there a more direct way to copy the data?

  • How do I implement this public accesible enum

    - by Psytronic
    Hey guys, I'm trying to access my class's private enum. But I don't understand the difference needed to get it working compared to other members; If this works: private double dblDbl = 2; //misc code public double getDblDbl{ get{ return dblDbl; } } Why can I not do it with enum? private enum myEnum{ Alpha, Beta}; //misc code public Enum getMyEnum{ get{ return myEnum; } } //throws "Window1.myEnum" is a "type" but is used like a variable

    I am using this code to connect to my exchange server. I am trying to retrieve an inbox of basically emails that have not been read however, i am just getting a bunch of gibberish and its reading an email. can you help me modify my code to just read the most recent messages. Try tcpClient.Connect(hostName, 110) Dim networkStream As NetworkStream = tcpClient.GetStream() Dim bytes(tcpClient.ReceiveBufferSize) As Byte Dim sendBytes As Byte() networkStream.Read(bytes, 0, CInt(tcpClient.ReceiveBufferSize)) sendBytes = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("User " + userName + vbCrLf) networkStream.Write(sendBytes, 0, sendBytes.Length) sTemp = networkStream.Read(bytes, 0, CInt(tcpClient.ReceiveBufferSize)) sendBytes = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("Pass " + userPassword + vbCrLf) networkStream.Write(sendBytes, 0, sendBytes.Length) sTemp = networkStream.Read(bytes, 0, CInt(tcpClient.ReceiveBufferSize)) sendBytes = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("STAT" + vbCrLf) networkStream.Write(sendBytes, 0, sendBytes.Length) sTemp = networkStream.Read(bytes, 0, CInt(tcpClient.ReceiveBufferSize)) sendBytes = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("RETR " + messageNumber + vbCrLf) networkStream.Write(sendBytes, 0, sendBytes.Length) networkStream.Read(bytes, 0, CInt(tcpClient.ReceiveBufferSize)) returnMessage = Encoding.ASCII.GetString(bytes) EmailContent.Text = returnMessage sendBytes = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("QUIT" + vbCrLf) networkStream.Write(sendBytes, 0, sendBytes.Length) tcpClient.Close() Catch ex As Exception EmailContent.Text = "Could not retrieve email or your inbox is empty" End Try

  • Matlab: Randomize and Split

    - by Null-Hypothesis
    I have following data matrix in Matlab, I am trying to actually split this into multiple segments by passing a variable to a matlab function. But before splitting I would like to shuffle the matrix. The size of my matrix is 150X4 s.data 5.1000 3.5000 1.4000 0.2000 4.9000 3.0000 1.4000 0.2000 4.7000 3.2000 1.3000 0.2000 4.6000 3.1000 1.5000 0.2000 5.0000 3.6000 1.4000 0.2000 .. s = data: [150x4 double] labels: [150x1 double] Coming from R environment I find MatLab is very strange. Initially I thought the columns in matrix has a relationshop like in a R dataframe but thats wrong in my assumption.

  • Multiple word Auttosuggest using Lucene.Net

    - by eric
    I am currently working on an search application which uses Lucene.Net to index the data from the database to Index file. I have a product catalog which has Name, short and long description, sku and other fields. The data is stored in Index using StandardAnalyzer. I am trying to add auto suggestion for a text field and using TermEnum to get all the keyword terms and its score from the Index. But the terms returned are of single term. For example, if I type for co, the suggestion returned are costume, count, collection, cowboy, combination etc. But I want the suggestion to return phrases. For exmaple, if I search for co, the suggestions should be cowboy costume, costume for adults, combination locks etc. The following is the code used to get the suggestions: public string[] GetKeywords(string strSearchExp) { IndexReader rd = IndexReader.Open(mIndexLoc); TermEnum tenum = rd.Terms(new Term("Name", strSearchExp)); string[] strResult = new string[10]; int i = 0; Dictionary<string, double> KeywordList = new Dictionary<string, double>(); do { //terms = tenum.Term(); if (tenum.Term() != null) { //strResult[i] = terms.text.ToString(); KeywordList.Add(tenum.Term().text.ToString(), tenum.DocFreq()); } } while (tenum.Next() && tenum.Term().text.StartsWith(strSearchExp) && tenum.Term().text.Length > 1); var sortedDict = (from entry in KeywordList orderby entry.Value descending select entry); foreach (KeyValuePair<string, double> data in sortedDict) { if (data.Key.Length > 1) { strResult[i] = data.Key; i++; } if (i >= 10) //Exit the for Loop if the count exceeds 10 break; } tenum.Close(); rd.Close(); return strResult; } Can anyone please give me directions to achive this? Thanks for looking into this.

  • Android quotes within an sql query string

    - by miannelle
    I want to perform a query like the following: uvalue = EditText( some user value ); p_query = "select * from mytable where name_field = '" + uvalue + "'" ; mDb.rawQuery( p_query, null ); if the user enters a single quote in their input it crashes. If you change it to: p_query = "select * from mytable where name_field = \"" + uvalue + "\"" ; it crashes if the user enters a double quote in their input. and of course they could always enter both single and double quotes.

  • How not to abort http response c#

    - by user194076
    I need to run several methods after sending file to a user for a download. What happens is that after I send a file to a user, response is aborted and I can no longer do anything after response.end(). for example, this is my sample code: Response.Clear(); Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=test.pdf"); Response.ContentType = "application/pdf"; byte[] a = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes("test"); Response.BinaryWrite(a); Response.End(); StartNextMethod(); Response.Redirect(URL); So, in this example StartNextMethod and Response.Redirect are not executing. What I tried is I created a separate handler(ashx) with the following code: public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { context.Response.Clear(); context.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=test.pdf"); context.Response.ContentType = "application/pdf"; byte[] a = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes("test"); context.Response.BinaryWrite(a); context.Response.End(); } and call it like this: Download d = new Download(); d.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current); StartNextMethod(); Response.Redirect(URL); but the same error happen. I've tryied to replace Response.End with CompleteRequest but it doesn't help. I guess the problem is that I'm using HttpContext.Current but should use a separate response stream. Is that correct? how do I do that in a separate method generically (Assume that I want my handler to accept byte array of data and content type and be downloadable from a separate response. I really do not want to use a separate page for a response. UPDATE I still didn't find a good solution. I'd like to do some actions after user has downloaded a file, but without using a separate page for a response\request thing.

  • Efficiently display file status when using background thread

    - by schmoopy
    How can i efficiently display the status of a file when using a background thread? For instance, lets say i have a 100MB file: when i do the code below via a thread (just as an example) it runs in about 1 min: foreach(byte b in file.bytes) { WriteByte(b, xxx); } But... if i want to update the user i have to use a delegate to update the UI from the main thread, the code below takes - FOREVER - literally i don't know how long im still waiting, ive created this post and its not even 30% done. int total = file.length; int current = 0; foreach(byte b in file.bytes) { current++; UpdateCurrentFileStatus(current, total); WriteByte(b, xxx); } public delegate void UpdateCurrentFileStatus(int cur, int total); public void UpdateCurrentFileStatus(int cur, int total) { // Check if invoke required, if so create instance of delegate // the update the UI if(this.InvokeRequired) { } else { UpdateUI(...) } }

  • convert from physical path to virtual path

    - by user710502
    I have this function that gets the fileData as a byte array and a file path. The error I am getting is when it tries to set the fileInfo in the code bewlo. It says 'Physical Path given, Virtual Path expected' public override void WriteBinaryStorage(byte[] fileData, string filePath) { try { // Create directory if not exists. System.IO.FileInfo fileInfo = new System.IO.FileInfo(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(filePath)); //when it gets to this line the error is caught if (!fileInfo.Directory.Exists) { fileInfo.Directory.Create(); } // Write the binary content. System.IO.File.WriteAllBytes(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(filePath), fileData); } catch (Exception) { throw; } } When debugging it, is providing the filePath as "E:\\WEBS\\webapp\\default\\images\\mains\\myimage.jpg" . And the error message is 'E:/WEBS/webapp/default/images/mains/myimage.jpg' is a physical path, but a virtual path was expected. Also, what it is triggering this to happen is the following call properties.ResizeImage(imageName, Configurations.ConfigSettings.MaxImageSize, Server.MapPath(Configurations.EnvironmentConfig.LargeImagePath));

  • Random access view in boost::multi_array

    - by linai
    Here is a boost example: typedef boost::multi_array<double, 1> array_type; typedef array_type::index index; array_type A(boost::extents[100]); for(index i = 0; i != A.size(); ++i) { A[i] = (double)i; } // creating view array_type::index_gen indices; typedef boost::multi_array_types::index_range range; array_type::array_view<1>::type myview = A[ indices[range(0,50)] ]; What this code does is creating a subarray or view mapping onto the original array. This view is continuous and covers from 0th to 50th elements of an original array. What if I need to explicitly define elements I'd like to see in the view? How can I create a view with indices like [1, 5, 35, 23] ? Any ideas?

  • Linq query: append column to query results

    - by jrubengb
    I am trying to figure out how to append a column to Linq query results based on the max value of the query. Essentially, I want to create an EnumerableRowCollection of DataRows that would include a max value record with the same value for each record. So if i have a hundred records returned through the query, I want to next calculate the max value of one of the fields, then append that max value to the original query table: DataTable dt = new DataTable(); dt = myDataSet.myDataTable; EnumerableRowCollection<DataRow> qrySelectRecords = (from d in dt.AsEnumerable() where d.Field<DateTime>("readingDate") >= startDate && g.Field<DateTime>("readingDate") <= endDate select d); Here's where I need help: double maxValue = qrySelectRecords.Field<double>("field1").Max(); foreach (DataRow dr in qrySelectRecords) { qrySelectRecords.Column.Append(maxValue) }

  • Entity Framework 4.0 Unit Testing

    - by Steve Ward
    Hi, I've implemented unit testing along the lines of this article with a fake object context and IObjectSet with POCO in EF4. http://blogs.msdn.com/adonet/archive/2009/12/17/test-driven-development-walkthrough-with-the-entity-framework-4-0.aspx But I'm unsure how to implement a couple of methods on my fake object context for testing. I have CreateQuery and ExecuteFunction methods on my object context interface so that I can execute ESQL and Stored Procedures but I cant (easily) implement them in my fake object context. An alternative would be to use a test double of my repository instead of a double of my object context as suggested here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/adonetefx/thread/c4921443-e8a3-4414-92dd-eba1480a07ad/ But this would mean my real repository isnt being tested and would seem to just bypass the issue. Can anyone offer any recommendations?

  • How do I Convert ARGB value from string to color?

Example var argbStr: string; A, R, G, B: Byte; begin argbStr := 'ffffcc88'; A := StrToInt('$' + Copy(AValue, 0, 2)); R := StrToInt('$' + Copy(AValue, 3, 2)); G := StrToInt('$' + Copy(AValue, 5, 2)); B := StrToInt('$' + Copy(AValue, 7, 2)); Result := MakeColor(A, R, G, B); end; What am I doing wrong?

  • Please help me to allow my `JTable` to search the text even the table is in editable mode on key-press

    - by Ashish Pancholi
    If user starts pressing keys using keyboards then JTable is supposed to be searched the matching text for him and if user double clicks on cell then Table should allow him to edit the text. And the issue is - Table is only searching text when the table is in non-editable mode and if Table is editable and user starts typing the text-using keyboard, cell is allowing him to edit the cell rather then search. Mr mKorbel has just solved my issue to allow edit only if double click on Table cell. Please help me to allow my JTable to search the text even the table is in editable mode on key-press.

  • How does Windows' 'Open with' work?

    - by Frederick
    I was under the impression that when you double click a file (or choose 'Open With' from the right click menu), Windows simply calls the application with the filename as the parameter. Something like this: C: App.exe file.abc However, I just double clicked an .xls file and then checked the PEB of the Excel instance that sprang up. To my surprise the commandline did not contain the filename as a parameter. So that set me wondering. What exactly is mechanism Windows uses to have a file opened by a relevant application? Is there a special API that each application that supports such facility must expose?

  • Creating Instance of Python Extension Type in C

    - by Brad Zeis
    I am writing a simple Vector implementation as a Python extension module in C that looks mostly like this: typedef struct { PyObject_HEAD double x; double y; } Vector; static PyTypeObject Vector_Type = { ... }; It is very simple to create instances of Vector while calling from Python, but I need to create a Vector instance in the same extension module. I looked in the documentation but I couldn't find a clear answer. What's the best way to do this?

  • C++ : size of int, long, etc...

    - by Jérôme
    I'm looking for detailed informations regarding the size of basic C++ types. I know that it depends on the architecture (16 bits, 32 bits, 64 bits) and the compiler. But are there any standards ? I'm using Visual Studio 2008 on a 32 bit achitecture. Here is what I get : char : 1 byte short : 2 bytes int : 4 bytes long : 4 bytes float : 4 bytes double : 8 bytes I tried to find, without much success, reliable informations telling the sizes of char, short, int , long, double, float (and other types I don't think of) under different architecture and compiler.

  • parsing primitive types using java.util.Scanner

    - by Rich Fluckiger
    I'm new to java so forgive the noob question. I have created a swing application that basically has three input strings in JTextFields: loanAmount, interestRate and loanYears and a single submit button with the EventAction. I'm trying to use the java.util.Scanner to parse the input to primitive types that I can use in calculations. I'm getting an error in NetBeans indicating that my variables are not recognized? should I not be calling System.in? private void submitButtonActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) { Scanner keyInput = new Scanner(System.in); while (true) try{ double amount = keyInput.nextDouble(loanAmount.getText()); double interest = keyInput.nextDouble(interestRate.getText()); int years = keyInput.nextInt(loanYears.getText()); } catch (NumberFormatException nfe){ } }

  • Where is the bottleneck in this code?

    - by Mikhail
    I have the following tight loop that makes up the serial bottle neck of my code. Ideally I would parallelize the function that calls this but that is not possible. //n is about 60 for (int k = 0;k < n;k++) { double fone = z[k*n+i+1]; double fzer = z[k*n+i]; z[k*n+i+1]= s*fzer+c*fone; z[k*n+i] = c*fzer-s*fone; } Are there any optimizations that can be made such as vectorization or some evil inline that can help this code? I am looking into finding eigen solutions of tridiagonal matrices. http://www.cimat.mx/~posada/OptDoglegGraph/DocLogisticDogleg/projects/adjustedrecipes/tqli.cpp.html
