• Using GPS data in Application

  Hi, I want using GPS data (I got it from $GPRMC) in an desktop application(that uses from mappoint 2009). I get the latitude & longitude, but when I check these points on map, I see the result is incorrect (for example My Data is: 43.412 N, 79.369 W ; but the correct point is: 43.686 N, 79.616 W ). I guess, I must use a correction method before use; I try "Projection method" like "Miller" or "Mercator", but those aren't effective. Can anyone guide me?

• Read a remote zipped xml with just XSL

  Hello there I want to know if it's possible for an XSLT file to read data from an XML located within folders of a remote zip(from the server at work), without any external processors (saxon and so forth) and without downloading it. Failing that, I'll resort to just reading the information from the zip... which brings me to my other (newb)issue. I currently have an XSLT that accesses and gets the data from the downloaded and extracted XML file, but I can't do this without extracting it. I've read that with Altova and xslt 2.0 it is possible to read from within a zip file using the document() function, though, as of yet I have not been able achieve this. this is how I'm trying to do it: document('name.zip|zip/folder/folder2/iwantthis.xml') It just doesn't seem to find the file. I'd be almost eternally grateful if you show me the error of my ways and guide me into XSLThood. Thank you kindly

  Hi Everyone this is what i want to achieve 1) Have a page control that allows user to do a swipe to 6 different pages 2) each page is a table view controller 3) everything is done via code NOT IB The tutorials that are i find either use VIEW CONTROLLER or is done via IB. I am not very good with IB and prefer to have everything done via coding. I have a TableViewController.h and TableViewController.m When the user navigate to the TableViewController view, my application will display a table view (filled with some information), when the user swip to the next page, another page (table view) will appear with another set of information... I am very new to objective-c and iphone programing...can some one pls guide me on how to achieve the above or is there another way to doing things? oh yar....i have a tab bar controller as my root controller...and for one of the tab (tab A) i have a navigation controller and my TableViewControllers falls inside tab A.   hey all, well i want to have an autocompleting textbox like the one in the image below: this screenshot is from an accounting software. whenever the user focuses on a textbox and starts typing something the suggestions just popup under the control (as seen in the image under the Purc type textbox).This autosuggest functionality even works in the cells of the grid shown in the picture.Moreover the fields in which this autosuggest is enabled allows only values from the autosuggest list to be filled up and nothing else. i want to emulate similar functionality in my app in vb6. so if you could please guide me in the right direction i would be very grateful. thanks in advance to all those who take out time to reply.

  I'm trying to understand type patterns and generic classes in Haskell but can't seem to get it. Could someone explain it in laymen's terms? In [1] I've read that "To apply functions generically to all data types, we view data types in a uniform manner: except for basic predefined types such as Float, IO, and ?, every Haskell data type can be viewed as a labeled sum of possibly labeled products." and then Unit, :*: and :+: are mentioned. Are all data types in Haskell automatically versions of the above mentioned and if so how do I figure out how a specific data type is represented in terms of :*:, etc? The users guide for generic classes (ch. 7.16) at haskell.org doesn't mention the predefined types but shouldn't they be handled in every function if the type patterns should be exhaustive? • Git push works for gitosis but not my own repo (Permission denied)

  Hi, I follow this exact guide to setup my GIT server: http://blog.agdunn.net/?p=277 I tried it before and it works. However, this time, when I provision a new server, it doesn't. I followed the exact steps and I provision it 3 times. It still failed. I get this errors: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly However, this only happen when I try to add a remote origin and push my new repo. If I do a git push on my gitosis, it works perfectly fine. I tried look into the IP and all the permission, I can't figure out what went wrong. Another test I did was, I went into .ssh/known_hosts/ and delete the IP entry. When I tried to do a git push for gitosis-admin, it will prompt if I wanted to allow this IP. However, this prompt doesn't appear for my new repo. Any help will be great appreciated. Thanks, Mickey

  Hello, I would like to utilize the UnitTest++ library in a testing file. However, I am having some difficulty getting the library to be included at compile time. So here is my current directory structure: tests/ UnitTests++/ libUnitTest++.a src/ UnitTests++.h unit/ test.cpp I have just used the UnitTest++ getting started guide to just get the library setup. Here is test.cpp: // test.cpp #include <UnitTest++.h> TEST(FailSpectacularly) { CHECK(false); } int main() { return UnitTest::RunAllTests(); } And I am currently trying to compile with: gcc -lUnitTest++ -L../UnitTest++/ -I../UnitTest++/src/ test.cpp I am currently getting a bunch output with ld: symbol(s) not found at the end. So how would I be able to get the UnitTest++ library properly included when this program is compiled? I am on a Mac and I'd also like for there to be an easy way for people on a Linux machine to run these same tests. Whew, I hope this provides enough information, if not please let me know.

• CentOS: revert python version back to original

  Hi all, I installed python 2.6 using the instructions here on CentOS 5.4. However I realized it was a bad move and I need to revert back to 2.4, which was there originally. Can anyone guide me on how to undo what I did here? In particular, I am not sure how to undo this: Configure ld to find your shared libs: $ cat /etc/ld.so.conf.d/opt-python2.5.conf /opt/python2.5/lib (hit enter) (hit ctrl-d to return to shell) $ ldconfig I tried removing the alias and the symlink and even re-aliasing python to /usr/bin/python, but when I try to install an RPM i get this error: error: Failed dependencies: libpython2.4.so.1.0 is needed by ... • Slowness of Netbeans Platform Apps - how to mitigate?

  Hi, We are developing a commerical application (pretty complex) in java using Netbeans IDE. We have 2 options in netbeans to create it- 1. Develop Java desktop app 2. Netbeans Platform app We have requirement that application startup and response times should be very very fast, should be modular etc. We did Proof of Technology by creating apps using both approaches mentioned above. We found Netbeans platform apps are very slow during startup and during screen navigation compared to pure Swing based desktop apps. We tried to implement suggestions provided at http://wiki.netbeans.org/Category:Performance:FAQ and in other blogs and forums to improve on speed of the app but were not successful. We feel for creating a complex desktop app Netbeans platform app would be better suited, but its not meeting our performance requirements (startup and response times, memory footprints, CPU usage guidelines etc). Can any one guide us on how to mitigate our problem of improving performance of Netbeans Platforms apps? Thanks in advance for your help. -bhan

  Hi, I have setup for Android development with 1.5 SDK on Mac O.S X - Eclipse 3.5. I want to upgrade the SDK, so as i followed to choose Window-Android SDK and AVD Manager from Eclipse. But it throws error as follows: XML verification failed for https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml. Error: cvc-elt.1: Cannot find the declaration of element 'sdk:sdk- repository'. Failed to fetch URL I tried "http" instead of https, but still getting the same error. I don't know why such crap error comes. If i see Android website, http://developer.android.com/intl/zh-CN/sdk/index.html its confusing. Could someone guide me easily to update Android SDK to 2.x or later without uninstalling my current setup environment. Thanks. I appreciate your kind suggestions.

• Formula for producing a CGRect for a UIScrollView, that displays a UIImage in scaled to fit way

  Hi I am loading in images with varying sizes and putting them in UIScrollViews, all the images are larger than the UIScrollView. The user can scroll and zoom as they please, but initially I would like for the image to be centered and scaled so the largest side of the image aligns with the edge of the scrollView, i.e. if the picture is in landscape I would like to size and scale it so that the left and right side goes all the way to the edge of the UIScrollVIew and vice versa I found a formula in a utility function in the Programming guide but it does not quite fit my needs. My approach is to use: CGrect initialPos = ? [self.scrollView zoomToRect:initialPos animated:YES]; I know the size of my scrollView and the size of my image, what I need to figure out is the scale and CGRect to apply to the scrollView to center and size my image.   Has anyone setup JSF1.1 with Ajax4JSF on websphere 6.1 ? I followed the instructions as mentioned in the developer guide . The problem that I am facing is that once I use a4j:support on any of my h:inputText item, the form values are not getting set in the backing bean on the submission of the form. I do have <h:messages> tag present just above the form so that all the problems should be reported there but I do not see any error message once I submit the form. But I do see that the values are not getting set. I need to find the solution as early as possible otherwise I probably have to throw the ajax4jsf framework and write javascripts instead :(

  Hi, I am working on a shopping cart(open cart) software and have this question. I am not familiar with mvc framework. What i want to know how to show content(mysql) inside a div when you click on a link. There will be 8-10 links and clicking on each should fetch its corresponding products. So for example category 1 | category 2 | category 3 show [products from category 1] when clicked on "category 1" and same way for the other two. the problem is the url for each link will have the category id so when clicked it will fetch its own products inside this div. Can someone please guide me with an example available online? looking for some thing that can dynamically fetch contents from mysql inside this div. content change is based on the category id in the url of the links I am clicking on. regards

  I have check the codeigniter user guide, But I was not lucky to solve my problem. I have created a webpage on my localhost. When I go to http://localhost/webpage/ it is okay. It will go to the default controller. My default controller is Homepage and there are methods named index, guarantee and about When I go to my routes.php, I added this: $route['guarantee'] = "homepage/guarantee"; $route['about_us'] = "homepage/about"; Then try to access it http://localhost/webpage/guarantee and http://localhost/webpage/about_us it show ERROR 404 But when I do it like this $route['default_controller'] = "homepage/guarantee"; The guarantee page will be displayed.   Short Want to set automatic (or at least semi-auto) software version numbering in GIT Detailed I'm newby to GIT. Recently created some bare git repo and made some commits and pushes into it. Want to set some starting version number (like v1.0) to my project. I know, there is tag for this reason. Googled it and found bunch of materials. For example: git - the simple guide blog says: You can create a new tag named 1.0.0 by executing git tag 1.0.0 1b2e1d63ff the 1b2e1d63ff stands for the first 10 characters of the commit id you want to reference with your tag. Kudelabs says: $ git tag -a 'milestone1' -m 'starting work for milestone 1, due in 2 weeks' $ git push --tags I'm really confused. What is difference between first and second method: git tag and git tag-a. Can't figure out which to use for this purpose. How can I set version number in bare remote repo, to which I made 5-6 commits and pushes?

• Android: Send arbitrary objects within Activities?

  I have read some question here but I didn't find a solution. I have read about Parcelable, Intents, and sharing specific data within Activities from the android dev docs (both dev guide and reference). Here's the scenario: I have one ListActivity that fills in an object parsing an xml file, it shows a list of values, and when clicked I want to return the object that represents the item clicked to the activity that has called it, for then, call another activity with this object. I read on how to implement Parcelable but seems not being the way. Implementing Parcelable receives a Parcel for the constructor and then reads the values from it (or at least that was what I understood). This makes no sense for me and I can't see how to implement basing on that issue. I build the object parsing the xml file, not having a Parcel. I appreciate some clarifications on this, regards.

• Starting synergy automatically on RHEL/CentOS

  I have a Red Had Enterprise Linux 5 and a CentOS 5 box, both of which I am trying to configure to automatically connect to a synergy server on startup. I have followed the guide at http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/autostart.html and configured them the same way I configured previous Ubuntu 7.10 boxes, and this only seems to get me half way there. Currently, synergy connects at the login screen, but once I login, it doesn't come back up. I added the following lines to /etc/gdm/{Init,PostLogin,PreSession}/Default : /usr/bin/killall synergyc sleep 1 /usr/bin/synergyc fried-chicken # Init,PreSession only All files are owned by root:root with 755 permissions, I'm just not sure what I'm missing here.

• LINQ to SQL or Entities, at this point?

  I'm a bit late to the game and have decided to spend some spare time learning LINQ. As an exercise, I'm going to rewrite a WebForms app in MVC 2 (which is also new to me). I managed to find a few topics regarding LINQ here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16322/learning-about-linq, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8050/beginners-guide-to-linq, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/252683/is-linq-to-sql-doa), which brought the concern of Entities vs SQL to my attention. The threads are all over a year old however, and I can't seem to find any definitive information on which ORM is preferable. Is Entities more or less LINQ to SQL 2.0 at this point? Is it still more difficult to use? Is there any reason to use LINQ to SQL, or should I just jump into Entities? The applications I write at my present employer have a lengthy lifecycle (~10 years), so I'm trying to pick the best technology available.
