  I've gone through this page: http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/device.html, My manifest has <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name" android:debuggable="true"> My phone has Menu - Settings - Applications - Development - USB Debugging checked I have gone to the control panel on my Windows XP 64 bit and installed the USB drivers given to me by the SDK installer at: android-sdk_r05-windows\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver So my computer does recognize the android device. However.. when I run an app on Eclipse, it still insists on opening it up in an emulator rather than my phone. How can I fix that?

  I am trying to write a simple web app (C# or VB.NET) to display a set of reports/subreports, but I can't seem to get access to the ReportViewer control. I am using VS.NET express (2005 and 2010) and I know I need the reportviewer pluglin. but I have installed it but I can't seem to get it to appear in the toolbox. I have tried to add a reference but VS does not like the DLL :P Please guide me through a walk through! Thanks. M

• Win7: Right place to install a program that may be 'shared' with other computers

  We have an app that currently installs itself into 'program files\our app', and it puts the internal data files into the common Application Data folder. This means the program is available to any user on that particular PC. Now we want to make a multi-user version of this program, multiple PCs accessing the program at the same time across the network. In the bad old days, under XP, we'd just have the user who installed the app 'share' the app directory and off we'd go. In principle, is this still the 'right' way to do it under Vista/Windows 7? We'd like to do this 'properly' and be as compliant as possible! Is there a recommended 'Microsoft' approach for doing this, or is it largely down to whatever we can get away with and subsequently support (hah!). I've tried researching this on the MS websites but not found anything too helpful at all - it'd be really useful to have a 'if you're trying to install this kind of thing, put it here' type guide for developers!

• Help setting up IIS 7.0

  I am trying to setup IIS on my laptop. I have followed a guide which said to go to: Control Panel Programs Turn Windows Features On / Off Click on IIS. I have done this and my computer now says that IIS is running. However when I visit http://localhost in my browser I get a 'Page Cannot be Displayed' error. I have had it working before but can't seem to get it working now. Does anyone have any ideas of why this might be happening? I am using Windows Vista Home Premium Thanks

  I have a simple app where users type in stuff in a text filed to get various results. I would like a feature where if a user enters something and then closes the browser tab, the next time they come, I can show them their previous/recent searches. This will persist even if they close the whole browser and open it again. I believe this can be done by help of cookies. Are there some good rails3 gems for using cookies or any simple tutorial that could guide me in a direction?

• OpenAL device, buffer and context relationship

  I'm trying to create an object oriented model to wrap OpenAL and have a little problem understanding the devices, buffers and contexts. From what I can see in the Programmer's Guide, there are multiple devices, each of which can have multiple contexts as well as multiple buffers. Each context has a listener, and the alListener*() functions all operate on the listener of the active context. (Meaning that I have to make another context active first if I wanted to change it's listener, if I got that right.) So far, so good. What irritates me though is that I need to pass a device to the alcCreateContext() function, but none to alGenBuffers(). How does this work then? When I open multiple devices, on which device are the buffers created? Are the buffers shared between all devices? What happens to the buffers if I close all open devices? (Or is there something I missed?)

• Anyone who actually got Tycho to work?

  I'm trying to get Tycho working with m2eclipse. Problem is that all I find are outdated sites and old versions to download. I've found my way to hxxp://github.com/sonatype/sonatype-tycho and downloaded the source. Problem is that the guide at https://docs.sonatype.org/display/TYCHO/BuildingTycho isn't of much help. When trying to build I run into an error message saying I'm using invalid syntax..... And there seems to be nowhere to ask for further guidance. So are there anyone out there who actually got this working? Or got a better alternative for continuous integration / automatic build solution for eclipse plug-ins?

• How to use Device Emulator to debug my WinCE application

  I am working with an MFC application built on a WinCE platform in Visual Studio. I need to debug this application and I cannot do it using KITL and the hardware. I tried to use Device Emulator for this: I started a new Platform Builder Project (PDA Device, enterprise webpad). I built it after ensureing that KITL was enabled and so was kernel debugger. Once built, i set the target connectivity options as ce device, download and transport set to Device Emulator and Debugger is KdStub. Once I hit Attach to Device, the doload to target window pops up and then the RelDir window also does. However nothing happens after this and in the output window it says: PB Debugger The Kernel Debugger is waiting to connect with target. Please guide me on what I need to do to debug my application.   Hi all. I'm getting a stuck. Suppose that I create 5 sites. For each one, I create a few sharepoint groups. So, I create a dropdownlist control to bind 5 sites and when I click on any site there, I will get sharepoint groups created on it. But I always see the dropdownlist used to bind these groups still never change. I mean it only binds a few default groups in sahrepoint everytime. The new created groups is not. And I have confusion like this web.AssociatedGroups web.Groups web.SiteGroups which one we will use this case ?   scenerio:- a database server running sql server 2005 and sql server management studio 2005 express editions a web server running IIS 5.0v using windows xp pro. two other computer having windows xp and windows 98 i have a linksys router which i use to access point for wireless (laptop) there are 5 sockets behind it four for clients and one for internet. i would like to setup a LAN- something like a private hosting area with two clients. would should i do? where to connect what and what would the changes in settnigs be. right now it uses dhcp or something to assign ips. where will the webserver be attached to the internet socket? where will the db server be attached? any guide, links, help thank you

• Linker Error: iPhone Unit Test Bundle referencing App classes

  Starting with an app already in development, I have carried out the instructions in the iPhone Development Guide – Unit Testing Applications I can successfully include and use my App's classes in Application-style tests that run on the device, and output their results to the console. If I add the following line of code: STAssertTrue([viewController isKindOfClass:[LoginViewController class]], @"Top view controller is not LoginViewController"); The following build error is generated: Undefined symbols: "_OBJC_CLASS_$_LoginViewController", referenced from: __objc_classrefs__DATA@0 in LoginViewTest.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status I can provide more configuration information for the project and the Testing target, but the setup works file without the [LoginViewController class] line in the test source. Without that line, I can reference the class, use it's properties and send it messages successfully. Is there a linking build setting, or bundle loading option that is required when attempting to use an App class in this fashion? Or should I find another type of test to confirm that the class of an object is the expected one?

• Strange CSS Positioning issue with a fader on a responsive site

  I'm developing a prototype responsive wordpress theme version of my homepage. I'm running into issues with the fader on the homepage. http://dev.epicwebdesign.ca/epicblog/ When the image switches, it uses position:absolute to overlay the pictures, then goes back to position:relative. I need to make the absolute be relative to the bottom left corner of the menu instead of the top left corner of #wrap so it doesn't overlap. I tried putting it in a container div like this: http://wiki.orbeon.com/forms/doc/contributor-guide/browser#TOC-Absolutely-positioned-box-inside-a-box-with-overflow:-auto-or-hidden but that doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? There are major CSS compatibility issues in IE, try it in chrome. It should look similar to http://epicwebdesign.ca. When the browser window is shrunk horizontially, the whole theme compensates.

  hi, so i have a table lets say call it "tbl.items" and there is a column "title" in "tbl.items" i want to loop through each row and for each "title" in "tbl.items" i want to do following: the column has the datatype nvarchar(max) and contains a string... filter the string to remove words like in,out, where etc (stopwords) compare the rest of the string to a predefined list and if there is a match perform some action which involves inserting data in other tables as well.. the problem is im ignotent when it comes to writing T-sql scripts, plz help and guide me how can i achieve this? whether it can be achieved by writing a sql script?? or i have to develope a console application in c# or anyother language?? im using mssql server 2008 thanks in advance

  Hello, i often work on private projects using the WinApi, and as you might know, it has thousands of named and typedefed structs like MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION. I will stick to this one in my question, what still is preferred, or better when you want to name a variable of this type. Is there some kind of style guide for this case? For example if i need that variable for the VirtualQueryEx function. Some ideas: MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION memoryBasicInformation; MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION memory_basic_information; Just use the name of the struct non captialized and with or without the underlines. MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION basicInformation; MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION information; Short form? MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION mbi; I often see this style, using the abbreviation of the struct name. MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION buffer; VirtualQueryEx defines the third parameter lpBuffer (where you pass the pointer to the struct), so using this name might be an idea, too. Cheers

• Can I prevent iPhone from using 3G under any circumstances?

  I'm writing a travel guide related app that will download large databases (60meg) potentially overseas, with the reachability code I can tell when a host is reachable via wifi or 3g BUT I'm worried that if for some reason the wifi connection breaks for a minute or so as some DSL connections are likely to do on occasion the iphone will switch transparently to 3G and without realising I could be racking up someones phone bill with overseas data charges! So I'm wondering if anyone has any experience, in the event of such break in wifi connectivity (wifi still works but it's connection to the net is down) would the reachability code report ReachableViaWWAN? So I could wait till my download code returns, check how the host is currently reachable and if it's via 3g I could abort? Is it possible to select what type of connection I can use aka 3g or wifi exclusively?

  So I have the foundation of my Rails app, then I went ahead and did the JS and CSS. How do I then take the CSS and JS that I have, and apply it to the app in a 'Rails Way'. i.e. a dynamic way that works nicely. • How do I create a view with a picker on the bottom and a table view on the top?

  Hi - first time asker, long-time lurker. I am trying to create an iPhone view that has a date/time picker on the bottom half of the screen, and a grouped, single-section, four-row table view on the top half of the screen (almost identical to the one Apple shows in Fig. 2-4 of their View Controller Programming Guide (but then never goes on to explain). Conceptually, I think I understand that what I need is a main view with a pair of subviews - one for the picker, and one for the table view. I'm pretty sure I can make the picker function once I have it on-screen, and I'm pretty sure I can make the table view function too. What I can't for the life of me figure out is how, programmatically speaking, to get the two views onto the screen simultaneously. I can lay it out perfectly in Interface Builder, but then it all goes to hell when I switch to Xcode...the view appears with the picker, but no table view.   I have just installed a network simulator program called ns-2 and I am trying to familiarize myself with it by going through the tutorial by Marc Greis. When I get to the stage where I'm messing around with C++ source files and related program C++ source files as stated in http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/ns/tutorial/index.html, I don't know what to do as there are enough inconsistencies between the version of ns-2 that I downloaded (which is the latest stable build) and the guide. • Default.png images and iPad.

  I'm about to submit my first iPad app, and I have 2 questions regarding to Default.png images. I would prefer a "splash screen" showing some artwork of my app, instead of the UI as if it was loaded, the app is a bit heavy and I've seen the users dispair when the UI is apparently loaded but it's not working. Does anyone know if apple is accepting apps with "splash screens"? I want to provide a Default-X.png for every orientation, I've read the iPad programming guide, my question is, is "Default-LandscapeLeft" a Default image rotated 90 degrees clockwise, and "Default-LandscapeRight" rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise? I'm asking this because I don't have an iPad yet to test this on. Thank you a lot in advance.
