  • Using a saved password for remote desktop access from Windows 7

    This past week I have been accessing a remote server by remote desktop access from a Windows 7 PC. Whilst I could save the password, windows 7 will not use it if the remote system is not fully verified. The fix is excellently documented at http://www.perceptible.net/post/2009/02/03/How-To-Enable-Use-of-Saved-Credentials-with-Remote-Desktop-to-Almost-Fully-Authenticated-Machines.aspx I used it and the connection process stopped asking for the password to be re-entered! (n.b. no gpedit -force is required)

  • Problem manipulating text using grep

    I want to search for a line that contains log4j and take 7 lines before and 3 lines after the match. grep -B7 -A3 "log4j" web.xml After that I want to add comment tags before this paragraph and after it. <!-- paragraph that i found by grep --> I wrote this script bellow: search=`find . -name 'web.xml'` text=`grep -B7 -A3 "log4j" $search` sed -i "/$text/c $newparagraph" $search It's not working. Is there any way to just add comment symbol not replace the paragraph?   • AND is better or using Internal "IF"

    In a situation like this:" if ((metadata != null) && (metadata.TypeEnum != VariantInfoMetadata.CellTypeEnum.Status)) do you recommend to keep the code as it is above or do you think it is better to make an internal "if" statement and brake that AND into two sections where "outer if" makes sure metadata is not null and inner if does the rest of the checking. I think this way will take care of possible null refrence exception if value of metadata gets null?

  • Legality of using/embedding MP3s?

    I am working on a language learning startup. I think that one of the best ways to study is through music. For that purpose I would like to include MP3s on the website, together with related study tools such as appropriate lyrics. Because I want to avoid dead links I would like to host the MP3s directly on my server and stream them to the users. Doing this isn't exactly legal since everyone could download the MP3s. But what if, before accessing a specific song, I displayed a message asking "Do you legally own this song in CD/MP3/... format?" and only if the user clicks "yes" he is allowed to continue and listen. Isn't this how, for example, YouTube gets around legal problems? Does anybody have insight on this? Thank you!

    We are currently working on redesigning our site and making it responsive. It is a search intensive site with complex functionality, a lot of search filters and a lot of content. Our mobile versions of certain pages need to hide some functionality (i.e. search filters) that exists in the desktop version and/or content (mainly blocks of text that are not necessary or are increasing page load in mobile devices). My questions is this: does the situation of having the same URL (responsive site) serving slightly different content (text and/or search filters) for certain pages in different devices affect our SEO (SERPs or otherwise)?

  • Can't access some websites using Ubuntu 13.10

    Something's wrong with Ubuntu. Since I've upgraded to 13.10, I can't access some websites for no apparent reason. I've tried everything imaginable to solve this problem : Made sure that MTUs are the same, Disabled IPv6 in both the network manager and used browsers, Deactivated my network keys, DMZed my computer, Used other DNS like Google and OpenDNS, Checked that no firewall was running my computer ... And it's the same result. I even tried to reinstall Ubuntu a couple of times, but no luck. The most annoying thing about it is I can't access wordpress.org! So, there's no way it could be an ISP restriction of some kind. When I use a VPN, I can access pretty much anything. I'm really frustrated because I have to use wordpress.org very often.   • OutOfBounds Exception when creating a PolygonShape using jbox2d

    So here's the deal, i'm parsing a file that contains the vertices for a polygon, that i want to create in box2d. I create a new PolygonShape() and then call .set() giving it a defined array of Vec, and that defined array's .length property. I expected this to work, since the documentation for jbox2d says this method takes a Vec array, and the count of Vec objects in that array. However, it errors out, and it seems to be unrelated to my code. The error i get is Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 8 at org.jbox2d.collision.shapes.PolygonShape.set(PolygonShape.java:174) and, upon looking at that line in the jbox2d svn repository, i still cannot figure out the issue. Any help is appreciated!
