    Hi folks, i am trying to optimize performance for my database. My question is - what get cached in the db memory? For example: (table with 2 columns: key (indexed), data (not indexed) updated (not indexed) Select * where updated=20100202 (the db will do a scan - will the scanned rows be kept in memory?) Select * where key = 20 (the db will refer to the index - will the identified rows be kept in memory?)

    i have a page consisting of devexpress gridview control with 4 columns and 4 asp.net text boxes. on selecting a row in gridview ,it should update the 4 textboxes with the values of the row selected. so i was assigning the value of the rows of the grid to the text box in the custom callback event of the grid and also the value gets assigned to the all textboxes's text property but it doesn't updates the textbox value in the UI screen.

I would like to disable index on sender, because I manually create index with sender_id and receiver id together. How can I disable auto generated index?

    Hello, I have several stored procedures in my database, some of them have params, some have no params. I tried to fill a business object by calling the stored procedures, but failed so far. How could I do that dynamically? Later, I want to use this object as a datasource for a report...but thats the next step. The important facts are: different stored procs return different amount of columns stored procs can have params, but its not required How could I achieve that? Thanks :)

I would like to have a simple share button on the final activity so they can share the results (or even a simple text field) with apps that accept it (email, mms, twitter, etc..).     Hi, If I have a column, set as primary index, and set as INT. If I don't set it as auto increment and just insert random integers which are unique into it, does that slow down future queries compared to autincrementing? Does it speed things up if I run OPTIMIZE on a table with its primary and only index as INT? (assuming only 2 columns, and second column is just some INT value) (the main worry is the upper limit on the autoincrement as theres lots of adds and deletes in my table)

  • Unable to use getInt() but able to use getString() for a sqlite database

    I am using a cursor to access a sqlite database I have in my app. I am having trouble using the .getInt() on my database. My database is pre-created, and I have a few cursors that perform queries to interface with the information. Several of the columns in one of the tables are set as INTEGER type. I realize that sqlite has no built in check to make sure columns are indeed INT. However, when retrieving the data, I can use the .getString() function without any issues, but calling .getInt() causes the app to crash. Below is the relevant code. If I am missing anything, please let me know, and I'll add it in. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.     I have a table of values, with one of the columns being of type SET. If it currently has the members ('a', 'b', 'c', 'd'), how do I add 'e' to the possible values? I realize that using a SET type is a little strange, and I'm unclear why one would use it instead of a foreign key to another table with the values of the set, but I didn't design the database in question, and can't change it that much.   • buttons in a datagrid in flex

    Hi All, i am using a data grid in flex and i am generating data from a mysql server. However, my problem is with adding a button within the datagrid so each row has one. i have set the columns itemRenderer to mx.controls.Button although with the buttons shown in the grid there is no label on them (even though one has been set) and the assigned click event does not trigger when hitting the button. anyone have any ideas or guidance on what i am doing wrong.     Here's my table with some sample data a_id | b_id ------------ 1 225 2 494 3 589 When I run this query INSERT IGNORE INTO table_name (a_id, b_id) VALUES ('4', '230') ('2', '494') It inserts both those rows when it's supposed to ignore the second value pair (2, 494) No indexes defined, neither of those columns are primary. What don't I know?

    I want to generate Entity Framework 4.0 classes from a (legacy) database from a command line, but I have 2 transformations I want: Tables/columns are lowerCamelCase and I want my classes/members to be UpperCamelCase. I want to suffix my classes with "Dto". Any idea how this might be accomplished? I'm a total newbie to EF, but I have a decent understanding of Linq to Sql and was able to accomplish the same task by doing: sqlmetal - dbml - xml mapping file and .cs file.

What would be the fastest mysql table design for this, bearing in mind when users mark dates as available/booked they will do so via a start date and an end date. i can see 2 obvious options Store 'booked' data for every day [more rows] or, store 'booked' data with 2 columns a start_date and end_date [more processing?] Which is best or is there another method i'm missing?
