• Chrome plugin process - npapi plugin

  Hi, I'm writing an npapi plugin in Qt. My plugin works perfectly on firefox and opera. The problem in chrome i guess is regarding the "process-per-plugin" setup. What happens is, when i first open a page, the plugin is injected and all works as per expected. But when i navigate from that page to another one, in the new page, the plugin seems to get injected but even its constructor isnt called. To examine the issue, I tried killing my plugin process via the chrome task manager before i navigate to the new page. When i do this, the plugin works as expected in the 2nd page too. I'm unable to comprehend what is happening here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  Hi, I am implementing a small database(university Project) and i am facing the following problem. I created a class diagram where i have a class Train {Id, Name, Details} And a class RollingStock which is than generalized in Locomotive and FreightWagon. A train is Composed by multiple RollingStock at a certain time(on different days the rolling stock will compose a different train). I represented the relationship train - rolling stock as a diamond filled (UML) but still I have a many to many relationship between the two tables. so i guess i have to create an additional table to solve the many to many relationship train_RollingStock. but how do i represent the Composition? Can i still use the filled diamond? If yes on which side? Thanks

  Hello everyone!! Hope You all are fie and also in one of your best of moods!! I need your help to solve an issue with Facebook. I have integrate Facebook Connect with my iPhone app. So as per step i have to write path of src folder into 'Header path info' Field in Project Build. I have given the absolute path to 'Header path info' Field. and its run fine without any Error.. But, Now When i Move the project folder to another destination, its but obvious, that path of src folder will change… So Now after moving file, when i run an application, It gives path error. So is there any way to solve this path issue? this comes when i run an app in simulator, and i guess It also won't run in iPhone because of problem of path of src folder. • ASPX has image from portal.mxlogic.com

  I have a aspx page I'm trying to (remotely) debug. It should add an image and set the src. The value seems correct if i msgbox the value that should be used for the "ImageUrl" But viewing the page there is no image and the src is: http://portal.mxlogic.com/images/transparent.gif This is a mcaffee page so is this some security thing...that is just a wild\crazy guess. Maybe i'm missing something very obvious...I did not write the code and I'm not really a aspx developer. Any ideas?? llf as requested some code... • Spring Security 3.0 and Active Directory LDAP: DOMAIN\user login

  I would like to have users authenticate against an ActiveDirectory LDAP server using the DOMAIN\user.name syntax. I think that should be possible with SpringSec 3.0 since the docs mention an "alternative syntax" which I guess refers to the DOM\user syntax instead of a bind DN, but the docs don't elaborate further. Is there some way to configure Spring Sec 3 LDAP to use "the MS way" or do I have to write my own Authenticator implementation (against e.g. the java.naming.directory package, which I've tested to be able to use the MS syntax as its SECURITY_PRINCIPAL)?

• How to apply text shadow to UITextView?

  Actually I love UILabel. They're sweet. Now I had to go to UITextView because UILabel is not aligning text vertically to the top. Damn. One thing I really need is a text shadow. UILabel has it. UITextView seems to not have it. But I guess that guy just uses the same underlying UIKit NSString additions?? Maybe someone already has a solution for that problem? What would I overwrite?

• Lock Question - 'U' lock vs. 'X' lock

  I have a couple questions concerning Update (U) locks and Exclusive (X) locks. 1) Am I correct that an 'X' lock is put on a resource when the resource is about to get updated? 2) I'm a little fuzzy on U locks. Am I correct that a U lock is applied when a resource is read and SQL Server thinks it might need to update the resource later? If this is correct, would a 'U' lock only get applied when a read is being done within the context of a transaction? I guess I'm trying to understand under what circumstances SQL Server thinks it might need to update later a row it just read now. Thanks - Randy

• TortoiseSVN: how to set up projects on a existing directory structure of source code

  I have an old pet project I want to revive (haven't had enough time for it last year - small kid - you know) - so restored old copy of my dev folder from archive, but since I have rebuilt my machine since when - I can't remember what needs to be done now. I installed the latest version of TortoiseSVN, and the existing directory structure from my old dev machine looks like: ProjectName *SubProject1 **branches ***1.1 ***1.2 **tags **trunk *SubProject2 **branches **1.0.3 **1.0.4 **1.0.5 **tags **trunk I tried "import project" but it ask for a url - don't know what to specify there ... can someone post a url to a good TortSVN tutorial - so I could set up my projects quickly (I guess I need to setup SubProject1 and SubProject2) - then I install AnkhSVN for VS2008 and will spend this Sunday coding like crazy while I still have some time ;-)

• Problem fetching contacts from Yahoo! Address Book using PHP's CURL.

  Hi I had to get the user's yahoo address book using PHP's CURL when user gave login name and password. It was working fine. Address book has been got as CSV format. But now suddenly things are stop working. I am just getting some yahoo's html code instead of CSV format. I am guessing that yahoo is somehow restricted fetching address book using CURL. I did one experiment that I manually did the import contacts from Yahoo service. Before importing contacts yahoo shown the CAPTCHA to verify. I guess this CAPTCHA mechanism is recently added. Is this CAPTCHA mechanism preventing to get the address book when I am using PHP's CURL? Actually I do not want get address book using Yahoo OAuth or BBAuth. Any one have idea?

• Simple way to implement computer-go board in Java

  I want to make a simple Go board to design an Computer Go game. In a go game, you lie a "stone" (white or black) on a position where horizontal and vertical lines intersect. What are some simple ways to restrict users from placing their stones in other locations? Maybe I'm just not seeing a simple solution. EDIT I guess I should rephrase my question better: I want to know how to do the background image of Go board, so that I can lie my stones on the intersection of the horizontal and the vertical lines. I was thinking about getting a just regular Go board image, and when I'm actually rendering stones, I find right position of pixels to lie stones. However, that solution did not seem to be the best solution, since I need to worry about size of stone images and think about proportionality when I either expand or shrink the board window.

• Why does ASP.Net locks when I update code with TortoiseSVN

  Hi, when I update Adobe Flash/Flex code that is not related to ASP.Net with TortoiseSVN (latest) on a Windows Server 2008, the complete website locks and stop responding. Is it ASP.Net recompiling my code, is it IIS 7 or is it Tortoise locking the file system? How can I prevent or minimize this if I need to do an update when 1000 users are using the ASP.Net website? UPDATE: Thanks to Aito and Bryan, I learned more about AppDomain. I found these two links where I discover that folder creation/deletion recycle the AppDomain in ASP.Net 2. --If TortoiseSVN creates folders in it's hidden .svn folders hierarchy, I guess it will lock the app! • Using PostRequestHandlerExecute, Flush and Close to clean up after a request - why is this bad?

  After some requests I need to clean up after the user - by calling a remote web service to release some resources if I guess the user doesn't need them anymore. It is ok to leave them hanging and letting them time out on the other server, but the polite thing to do is to inform it that I do not need them anymore. I do not want to waste the users time waiting for cleaning - so I tried to find place to put it. First I tried Application_EndRequest, but I needed something later. Then I found PostRequestHandlerExecute which seemed like a nice place, but I still need a Flush and Close to release the connection to the user.   Hi there, When creating a table in SQLite3, I get confused when confronted with all the possible datatypes which imply similar contents, so could anyone tell me the difference between the following data-types? INT, INTEGER, SMALLINT, TINYINT DEC, DECIMAL LONGCHAR, LONGVARCHAR DATETIME, SMALLDATETIME Is there some documentation somewhere which lists the min./max. capacities of the various data-types? For example, I guess smallint holds a larger maximum value than tinyint, but a smaller value than integer, but I have no idea of what these capacities are. Any help would be appreciated. • Automated builds of BizTalk 2009 projects using Team System 2008 Build

  I'm trying to configure automated build of BizTalk 2009 projects using Team Foundation Server 2008. We have a staging server which has BizTalk 2009 installed. I ran the Team Foundation Server Build Setup on this server, and it can build non-BizTalk projects OK. However, BizTalk projects fail to build. I suspected something was amiss when "Deployment" was not a valid build type! I tried copying various things over from a developer PC which has BizTalk and Visual Studio 2008 installed, but still couldn't get it to work. I don't really want to install Visual Studio on the staging server, but without it the "Developer Tools and SDK" option in the BizTalk install is greyed out. I guess I need this in order for BizTalk projects to compile. So, my question is can a BizTalk 2009 server be used as a TFS build agent to build BizTalk projects without having Visual Studio installed. If the answer is no, what's the smallest part of VS that can be installed to get this to work? Thanks in advance.

• Parsing Wiki XML Dumps ver0.4 just got tough

  Hello, I am trying to parse Wikipedia XML Dump using "Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4" along with "Wikiprep.pl" script. I guess this script works fine with ver0.3 Wiki XML Dumps but not with the latest ver0.4 Dumps. I get the following error. Can't locate object method "page" via package "Parse::MediaWikiDump::Pages" at wikiprep.pl line 390. Also, under the "Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4" documentation @ http://search.cpan.org/~triddle/Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4/lib/Parse/MediaWikiDump/Pages.pm, I read "LIMITATIONS Version 0.4 This class was updated to support version 0.4 dump files from a MediaWiki instance but it does not currently support any of the new information available in those files." Any work arounds would help me get to the next level. Note: one may wonder why cannot we directly use SAX or STAX parser instead, wikipedia dump is a 25GB plus single file, stack/memory issues are obvious. Hence, the above perl script resolves this issue but currently I am stuck with this version problem.

  what is the easiest(and fastest) way to perform this kind of transformation: "Data in XML" to "Some MS Word 2003 Supported format" to PDF using Java? My first guess was to fill the template with XML data (using Placeholders for example) and then save it and convert it to PDF. But I can't just put placeholders to DOC files, and I can't convert from some other Word formats to PDF... My primary task is to convert XML Data to PDF allowing users to change the PDF on-demand. The best way to change the PDF on-demand seems to give user some kind of MS Word readable document, and then convert it back. There are 2 main problems with this task: 1) I can't use OpenOffice for conversion. 2) System should be able to convert ~1 page of table-based document per 1 second on 2Ghz Core. 3) RTF does not provide enough styling, so some more complex format should be used. • Google Maps API Geocode gives error "Invalid label" in Firefox

I found a lot of posts about this, and I tried all kinds of things like eval(), but also: $.getJSON('http://maps.google.com/maps/api/geocode/jsonaddress=Karachi&sensor=false&output=json&callback=?', function(data){ //eval("("+data+")"); alert(data); } ); Same result. Also, other json data works fine, for instance flickr ("http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?tags=cat&tagmode=any&format=json&jsoncallback=?). • AJAX Partial page update problem when displaying a control

  Hello! I have an interesting problem when using partial page update in asp.net with scriptmanager and a update panel. My scenario looks like this: I'm using the tab control from the ajax toolkit. I also implemented this control using lazy loading, so that when the page is loaded only the current tab gets loaded all the other tabs don't get rendered, because Im using an UpdatePanel (on a .ascx control) on each of these tabs and when a tab gets selected the updatepanel makes a async postback to load the content for a selected tab. On one of my tabs Im using a combobox control from obout.com, and it doesn't work. Now I know why it doesn't work. It doesn't work because the control is shown via a partial page refresh, but to correctly display the control it has to do some "magic" that is - register some .css and .js includes on the page (in the head I guess)....but because I load this control via async page refresh...it can't do these stuff. What kind of workarround do you suggest? Thanks!

  What kind of data structure could be used for an efficient nearest neighbor search in a large set of geo coordinates? With "regular" spatial index structures like R-Trees that assume planar coordinates, I see two problems (Are there others I have overlooked?): Wraparound at the poles and the International Date Line Distortion of distances near the poles How can these factors be allowed for? I guess the second one could compensated by transforming the coordinates. Can an R-Tree be modified to take wraparound into account? Or are there specialized geo-spatial index structures?

• Nice shadow effect in text (UISegmentedControl)

  Hi, I would like to bring some color to the texts of my UISegmentedControl. So, I've searched a bit about this topic, but it seems to be not possible out-of-the-box. But I found this nice blog post (link text), how to build an image out of a custom text and then assign it to the segemented control. Works fine, but the text in these created images do not have this nice little shadow effect as the original ones. So, does anyone know, how to create such a shadow effect? I guess, Apple does the same (building an image for the text) with the standard segmenented control. Thanks for your help. Regards Matthias

  What encoding are the elements of sys.argv in, in Python? are they encoded with the sys.getdefaultencoding() encoding? sys.getdefaultencoding(): Return the name of the current default string encoding used by the Unicode implementation. PS: As pointed out in some of the answers, sys.stdin.encoding would indeed be a better guess. I would love to see a definitive answer to this question, though, with pointers to solid sources! PPS: As Wim pointed out, Python 3 solves this issue by putting str objects in sys.argv (if I understand correctly). The question remains open for Python 2.x, though. Under Unix, the LC_CTYPE environment variable seems to be the correct thing to check, no? What should be done with Windows (so that sys.argv elements are correctly interpreted whatever the console)?

• Dispatcher.Invoke not working in .NET 3.0 SP1

  I am developing a WPF windows application and am getting into a trouble running the app in .NET 3.0. Everytime that I try to access the System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.Invoke() method, I get a method-not-found error. Basically, I spawn a new thread from the main thread and try to change some UI properties (basically update a progress-bar) from the new thread using the following code: updateStatusDelegate usd = new updateStatusDelegate(progressBar.SetValue); Dispatcher.Invoke(usd, System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherPriority.Background, new object[] { System.Windows.Controls.ProgressBar.ValueProperty, Convert.ToDouble(perc) }); Can someone help me understand why do I encounter this error in .NET 3.0 version? I am able to get this going in .NET 3.0 SP2. But I guess .NET is not distributed independantly and is packaged only with .NET 3.5 version. My goal is to get away with the dependancy of .net 3.5 and have a dependancy on .NET 3.0 version Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Kapil

• fql query problem in php

  I want to fetch the names of users on facebook. For that, I tried using FQL query. The code is, $result = $facebook->api_client->fql_query("SELECT name FROM user WHERE uid='$user_id'); But there is some problem with this. I guess the query is not getting executed or it is returning null values. I also tried using users.getInfo as follows, $result = $facebook->api_client->users_getInfo($user_id,'name'); But again, the same problem. I tried to display the array as, echo $result['name]; So, I tried both the codes as, if(!$facebook->api_client->fql_query("SELECT name FROM user WHERE uid='$user_id')) { echo "Error."; } I have included both facebook.php and facebookapi_php5_restlib.php in my php file. Where am i going wrong?
