  • Determing Python version at runtime

    The problem I'm having is that I've written code that depends on features in python2.6 so I'm trying to build a check that will produce a useful error if someone tries to run it on a machine with python lower than 2.6. The code I put in to check for the specific version and match it should work fine but the problem I have is the interpreter on a 2.4 machine reads the file and sees a "finally" at the end of my try loop and errors out before it gets far enough into execution for my if statement to handle the version mismatch. Other than changing the magic line to specifically look for /usr/bin/python2.6 is there a way python can handle this sort of thing?

  • Reference non-GAC version of DLL in Visual Studio 2010

    This is similar to Add Non-GAC reference to project but the solutions presented there don't seem to help. I have a WinForms UI Library (Krypton from ComponentFactory) installed in the GAC. There's a bug I want to track down in that library, so I added the source code to my solution, removed the old references from my WinForms project to Krypton DLLs, added them back as a project references, ensured Copy Local is set to true, double-checked that the path (on reference properties tab) points to my local project, and... ...the GAC version is still being used while debugging. I cannot set a breakpoint in the Krypton source, Debugger.Break() or other code changes to not execute, and when I start the Visual Studio 2010 debugger, I see a Loading from ... GAC_MISL message relating to the Krypton DLLs flash by in the VS 2010 status bar. The DLLs are not copied to the WinForm's Debug folder. How can I reference the "project" version of the files while debugging while leaving them registered in the GAC?

  • Windows.Forms RichTextBox Control - Avoid inserting large data.

    I have a Windows Form with a RichTextBox on it. The content of the RichTextBox is written to a database field that ist limited to 64k data. For my purpose that is way more than enough text to store. I have set the MaxLength property to avoid insertng more data than allowed. rtcControl.MaxLength = 65536 Howevery, that only restricts the amount of characters that so is allowed to put in the text. But with the formatting overhead from the Rtf I can type more text than I should be allowed to. It even get's worse if I insert a large image, which dosn't increase the TextLength at all but the Rtf Length grows quite a lot. At the moment I check the Length of the richttextboxes' Rtf property in the FormClosing event and display a message to the user if it's to large. However that is just a workaround because I want to disallow putting more data than allowed into the control (like in a textbox if you exceed the MaxLength property nothing is inserted into the control and you hear the default beep(). Any ideas how to achive this? I already tried: using a custom control which extends the richtextbox and shadows th Rtf property to intercept the insertation. But it seems it isn't executed if I add text. Even the TextChanged Event does not fire if I type smth. in the control.

    Hi, I have a control template in one of my pages and i am assigning this template to my textbox's Validation.ErrorTemplate property. The following code would give you a better view. <ControlTemplate x:Key="ValidationErrorTemplate"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" HorizontalAlignment="Right"> <AdornedElementPlaceholder/> <Image Name="ValidizorImage" Stretch="None" Source="validizor.gif" ToolTip="{Binding [0].ErrorContent}" ToolTipService.InitialShowDelay="0" ToolTipService.ShowDuration="60000"/> </StackPanel> </ControlTemplate> The above template sets the image at the end of the textbox which is having the error. This template is used as below. <TextBox Grid.Column="5" Grid.Row="1" x:Name="txtemail" Grid.ColumnSpan="3" Margin="0,1,20,1" Validation.ErrorTemplate="{StaticResource ValidationErrorTemplate}" /> My question here is I want to move this control template outside of this page so that i can use it across the application. I tried putting the exact same code of the control template in a user control say "ErrorUC" and using it as below TextBox1.SetResourceReference (System.Windows.Controls.Validation.ErrorTemplateProperty, new ErrorUC()); On running the above code i learnt that "AdornedElementPlaceholder" can be used only in templates and not in user controls.   • Replacing Resource files on new BlackBerry app version

    Hello, I am maintaining an existing BlackBerry application (implemented as a MIDlet). The application contains a number of data files that get bundled with the app as resources. Some of these data files need to be updated for a new version of the app. When the user goes to install a new version of the application (via URL of Jad file), it prompts them with the following message "Persistent data exists for the application. Would you like to retain this data? " If the user selects "Yes", it looks like the app continues to use the old resource files. This is so surprising to me. First of all, am I losing my mind or will an upgrade really not overwrite existing resource files? Is there any way I can force it to? Thanks, Jeff

    First, I create my database. create database mydb; I add "south" to installed Apps. Then, I go to this tutorial: http://south.aeracode.org/docs/tutorial/part1.html The tutorial tells me to do this: $ py manage.py schemamigration wall --initial >>> Created 0001_initial.py. You can now apply this migration with: ./manage.py migrate wall Great, now I migrate. $ py manage.py migrate wall But it gives me this error... django.db.utils.DatabaseError: (1146, "Table 'fable.south_migrationhistory' doesn't exist") So I use Google (which never works. hence my 870 questions asked on Stackoverflow), and I get this page: http://groups.google.com/group/south-users/browse_thread/thread/d4c83f821dd2ca1c Alright, so I follow that instructions >> Drop database mydb; >> Create database mydb; $ rm -rf ./wall/migrations $ py manage.py syncdb But when I run syncdb, Django creates a bunch of tables.     Hi, I am about to upgrade my pc, and operating system at the same time. I was wondering what version of Windows 7 to get pre-installed, given that I want to do some ASP.NET development using Visual Studio. Specifically : Will all versions of Windows 7 run an IIS server & be suitable for ASP.NET development ? Are all good for running SQL Server etc ? Will Windows 7 have any probs running old versions of Visual Studio (Ie. 2003 & 2005 versions). Are there any other things I need to consider ? I'm probably going for the 32 bit version of Windows 7.     I am trying to retrieve the ARPINSTALLLOCATION during the installation of a Major Upgrade version of the software. Following this info I managed to set the ARPINSTALLLOCATION to the custom path. However, retrieving it again isn't working.     I am trying to use notepad++ as my all-in-one tool edit, run, compile etc. I have jre installed, i have setup my path variable to .../bin directory. When I run my "Hello world" in notepad++ , I get this message: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: test_hello_world : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0 at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClassCond(Unknown Source) ......................................... I think the problem here is about versions, some version of java may be old or too new. how do i fix it? should i install jdk , and setup my path variable to JDK instead of jre? difference between PATH variable in jre or jdk?

    This one is driving me nuts. According to GTK's site, there exists GTK_MAJOR_VERSION, GTK_MINOR_VERSION, and GTK_MICRO_VERSION constants. However, none of these work: echo GTK_MAJOR_VERSION; echo GtK::MAJOR_VERISON; echo Gtk::GTK_MAJOR_VERSION; etc Also, Gtk::check_version(2,12,0) always fails even though I have a higher version. I'd like to simply get the actual version number and not rely on check_version, which seems unreliable. How can I do this? I need to do it within PHP, platform independent.

  • iPhone/iPad universal build problem with firmware version

    Hello guys, I was doing a project as Universal binary for iPhone/iPad. I created the iPhone app side and I was doing to complete the iPad too. I noticed one thing, on iPad classes I use the UIPopoverController class, means that when I build now for 3.2 in the Simulator, it runs te iPad one and it works fine, BUT if I want to see the iPhone version app, means 3.1.3, It give me an error of framework missing in the iPad classes. I have no idea how to solve this problem because I cannot anymore see the iPhone version of the app and make changes. I can only remove all the iPad classes and after reimport again. thanks guys!

  • Does any Version Control System like SVN, Git, or Mercurial let you "keep latest version" but not th

    In our project files, if there are binary files, such as .doc, .xls, .jpg, and we choose to not keep their past revisions (just keeping a latest version is ok), is there a way to tell SVN, Git, or Mercurial or some other tool to skip the revisions for these files or for a particular folder? Say, there is a 4MB .doc file that I need to check in hundred of times, but I don't really care so much about its past versions. So if the system keeps 100 revisions of it, that's already 400MB... checking in 300 times means 1.2GB for 1 file and that's not good. Only the latest version is good so that everybody can sync to it.

BTW, I know redeem codes are valid only 4 weeks and I also know that apps downloaded with a redeem code can be upgraded for free as with paid ones. My concern here is just: do unused redeem codes become invalid when a new version of my app will be available on the store? Apple's doc is not clear about this point.     I am trying to do a CORS call to a WCF service endpoint hosted on IIS7.5. I have configured custom headers in IIS.   • how to configure hibernate not to update @Version on each access to entity

    i have a simple query that returns an entity, and when i look at hibernate SQL output i see that when i execute this query hibernate updates the @Version field (on each consecutive read the @version field is updated). i dont modify anything in the entity i fetch, and i dont pass is as an argument to either persist or merge. this effectively means every read i make turns into a read+write. i've tried setting the lock mode t oboth NONE (jpa 2) and READ (jpa 1) to no avail. is there any way to achieve this? if so, is there any way to set this as the default behavior in persistence.xml in some way ? im using jpa2 over hibernate 3.6
