  • Linq Query - Average Time (DateTime data types)

    - by Jade
    I have a database that has the following records in a DateTime field: 2012-04-13 08:31:00.000 2012-04-12 07:53:00.000 2012-04-11 07:59:00.000 2012-04-10 08:16:00.000 2012-04-09 15:11:00.000 2012-04-08 08:28:00.000 2012-04-06 08:26:00.000 I want to run a linq to sql query to get the average time from the records above. I tried the following: (From o In MYDATA Select o.SleepTo).Average() Since "SleepTo" is a datetime field I get an error on Average(). If I was trying to get the average of say an integer, the above linq query works. What do I need to do to get it to work for datetimes?

  • Decimal rounding strategies in enterprise applications

    - by Sapphire
    Well, I am wondering about a thing with rounding decimals, and storing them in DB. Problem is like this: Let's say we have a customer and a invoice. The invoice has total price of $100.495 (due to some discount percentage which is not integer number), but it is shown as $100.50 (when rounded, just for print on invoice). It is stored in the DB with the price of $100.495, which means that when customer makes a deposit of $100.50 it will have $0.005 extra on the account. If this is rounded, it will appear as $0, but after couple of invoices it would keep accumulating, which would appear wrong (although it actually is not). What is best to do in this case. Store the value of $100.50, or leave everything as-is?

  • MS SQL Server 2000 tables

    - by klork
    We currently have an MS SQL Server 2000 database with one table containing data for multiple users. The data is keyed by memberid which is an integer field. The table has a clustered index on memberid. The table is now about 200 million rows. Indexing and maintenance are becoming issues. We are debating splitting the table into one table per user model. This would imply that we would end up with a very large number of tables potentially upto the 2,147,483,647, considering just positive values. My questions: 1) Does anyone have any experience with a MS SQL Server (2000/2005) installation with millions of tables? 2) What are the implications of this architecture with regards to maintenance and access using Query Analyzer, Enterprise Manager etc. 3) What are the implications to having such a large number of indexes in a database instance. All comments are appreciated. Thanks

  • is_admin? function in rails? - undefined method Error

    - by Newbie
    Hello! At the moment, I am creating some kind of admin panel/backend for my site. I want to do the following: Only admins (a user has a user_role(integer) -- 1 = admin, 2 = moderator, 3 = user) can see and access a link for the admin panel. So I created an admin_controller. In my admin controller I created a new function called is_admin?: class AdminController < ApplicationController def admin_panel end def is_admin? current_user.user_role == 1 end end my route looks like. map.admin_panel '/admin-panel', :controller => 'admin', :action => 'admin_panel' and in my _sidebar.html.erb (partial in applicaton.html.erb) I created the link: <%= link_to "Admin Panel", :admin_panel unless is_admin? %> Now I get an error called: undefined method `is_admin?' Where is the problem? Please help me solving this problem!

  • Getting repeat values after copying 2-3 items to clipboard in android?

    - by Gurpreet singh
    I am using clipboard code like below in my app.Everything is working fine if i copy one item at a time.But when we copy 2-3 items one after other and paste somewhere it starts retrieving repeated past value from clipboard rather than the current value.After googling a lot i came to know that its a problem with Samsung phones and i need to clear clipboard history for that.But i could not find any way to clear clipboard history. Public void CopyToClipboard { int pos = (Integer) v.getTag(); StatusEntity obj=getItem(pos); ClipboardManager clipmanager= (ClipboardManager)getContext().getSystemService(getContext().CLIPBOARD_SERVICE); ClipData clip=ClipData.newPlainText("data",obj.getStatus()); clipmanager.setPrimaryClip(clip); Toast.makeText(getContext(), "Copied to clipboard", 1000).show(); } Hoping that anyone of you can help me regarding this .Any help would be appreciated.

  • Plotting Points in Java with Interaction

    - by mellort
    I have a large number of data points which are two dimensional coordinates with non-integer values (floats). I am looking for a Java library that can help me plot these points, allowing for custom point size, color, and labels. Further, I would like the user to be able to interact with the points with panning and zooming, and I want to be able to capture KeyEvents from the user. Processing looks great for what I want, but I don't want to do everything from scratch. Is there a better solution? Thanks in advance.

  • How to discover table properties from SQLAlchemy mapped object

    - by ssaboum
    Hi, My point is i have a class mapped with a table, in my case in a declarative way, and i want to "discover" table properties, columns, names, relations, from this class : engine = create_engine('sqlite:///' + databasePath, echo=True) # setting up root class for declarative declaration Base = declarative_base(bind=engine) class Ship(Base): __tablename__ = 'ships' id = Column(Integer, primary_key=True) name = Column(String(255)) def __init__(self, name): self.name = name def __repr__(self): return "<Ship('%s')>" % (self.name) So now my goal is from the "Ship" class to get the table columns and their properties from another piece of code. I guess i can deal with it using instrumentation but is there any way provided by the SQLAlchemy API ? Thank you.

  • Facebook user_id as MongoDB BSON ObjectId?

    - by MattDiPasquale
    I'm rebuilding Lovers on Facebook with Sinatra & Redis. I like Redis because it doesn't have the long (12-byte) BSON ObjectIds and I am storing sets of Facebook user_ids for each user. The sets are requests_sent, requests_received, & relationships, and they all contain Facebook user ids. I'm thinking of switching to MongoDB because I want to use it's geospatial indexing. If I do, I'd want to use the FB user ids as the _id field because I want the sets to be small and I want the JSON responses to be small. But, is the BSON ObjectId better (more efficient for MongoDB) to use than just an integer (fb user_id)?

  • c++ : list(vector) definition with array

    - by Meloun
    I have Class Email, there is parameter "bcc" in her construktor. Its actually list of emails for copies. There is no fixed number of these emails and later i have to have possibility to extend this list. //construktor prototype Email::Email(vector<string> bcc) So i want to use type vector or list for that and function push_back(). How can i make a new instance with bcc emails? I need actually declaration with definition for my list. I've found this definition with iterator for integer type: int myints[] = {16,2,77,29}; Email myEmail(vector<int> (myints, myints + sizeof(myints) / sizeof(int) )); , but its not very user friend and i need it with strings. Is there something like this? Email myEmail(vector<string> ("first","second","third"));

  • FOR loop performance in Javascript

    - by AndrewMcLagan
    As my research leads me to believe that for loops are the fastest iteration construct in javascript language. I was thinking that also declaring a conditional length value for the for loop would be faster... to make it clearer, which of the following do you think would be faster? Example ONE for(var i = 0; i < myLargeArray.length; i++ ) { console.log(myLargeArray[i]); } Example TWO var count = myLargeArray.length; for(var i = 0; i < count; i++ ) { console.log(myLargeArray[i]); } my logic follows that on each iteration in example one accessing the length of myLargeArray on each iteration is more computationally expensive then accessing a simple integer value as in example two?

  • MySQL : incrementing text id in DB

    - by BarsMonster
    I need to have text IDs in my application. For example, we have acceptable charset azAZ09, and allowed range of IDs [aaa] - [cZ9]. First generated id would be aaa, then aab, aac, aad e.t.c. How one can return ID & increment lower bound in transaction-fashion? (provided that there are hundreds of concurrent requests and all should have correct result) To lower the load I guess it's possible to define say 20 separate ranges, and return id from random range - this should reduce contention, but it's not clear how to do single operation in the first place. Also, please note that number of IDs in range might exceed 2^32. Another idea is having ranges of 64-bit integers, and converting integer-char id in software code, where it could be done asyncroniously. Any ideas?

  • Is this a valid benefit of using embedded SQL over stored procedures?

    - by George
    Here's an argument for SPs that I haven't heard. Flamers, be gentle with the down tick, Since there is overhead associated with each trip to the database server, I would suggest that a POSSIBLE reason for placing your SQL in SPs over embedded code is that you are more insulated to change without taking a performance hit. For example. Let's say you need to perform Query A that returns a scalar integer. Then, later, the requirements change and you decide that it the results of the scalar is x that then, and only then, you need to perform another query. If you performed the first query in a SP, you could easily check the result of the first query and conditionally execute the 2nd SQL in the same SP. How would you do this efficiently in embedded SQL w/o perform a separate query or an unnecessary query? Here's an example: --This SP may return 1 or two queries. SELECT @CustCount = COUNT(*) FROM CUSTOMER IF @CustCount 10 SELECT * FROM PRODUCT Can this/what is the best way to do this in embedded SQL?

  • Passing 2D array with variable dimensions as function argument

    - by TheCrazyProgrammer
    I just saw the following code among the successful submissions at codechef. http://www.codechef.com/viewplaintext/1595846 I used to think that float max(int n,int arr[n][n]) {....} is not allowed in C++ (as 'n' is a variable). My CodeBlocks (on windows) with MinGW [gcc 4.4] gives compile time error. that "error: array bound is not an integer constant. Then how can be such a solution be accepted by CodeChef's judge. Is there any special flag that allows us to do that in C++??? EDIT: A link showing status as AC (accepted) : http://www.codechef.com/viewsolution/1595846

  • Why is sqrt() not a method on Float?

    - by KaptajnKold
    In Ruby everything is an object. That's why I don't understand why we have the Math module. It seems to me that most (all?) of the functions in the Math module should have been methods on the numeric types like Integer, Float and so on. E.g. instead of Math.sqrt(5) it would make more sense to have 5.sqrt The same goes for sin, cos, tan, log10 and so on. Does anyone know why all these functions ended up in the Math module?

  • Avoiding jagged text when pasting into vi?

    - by overtherainbow
    Hello Although I have no problem using SecureCRT (5.1.2 build 274) to work from Windows and connect to PC's running Linux, I have a problem when connecting to an embedded Asterisk appliance that provides"vi" through BusyBox 1.4.1 (2008-03-10). The issue I'm having, is that when I paste code into vi, the text appears jagged like this: <?php try { $dbh = new PDO("sqlite:./db.sqlite"); $dbh->exec("CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS customer (id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT, name VARCHAR(255))"); Does someone what the problem is? Is there a way to reconfigure either BusyBox or SecureCRT so that I can paste successfully? Thank you.

  • How to return an enum ID instead of the enum text in WebAPI

    - by Rodney
    I am using the WebAPI with .NET 4.5. I have a enum called DareStatus which is a list of statuses and their corresponding integer ID's. To minimize bandwidth traffic I want to send the int values of the enums, not the full text as it is currently doing. (I have control over the client so I can map it on the clientside). The strange thing is that in my RTFM-ing everyone seems to have the opposite issue! http://www.ftter.com/desktopmodules/framework/api/dare/getalldares public enum DareStatus : int { All = 0, Accepted = 2, Pending = 1, Declined = 3, Cancelled = 4, Failed = 5, Won = 6 } public IEnumerable<DareInfo> GetDares() { IEnumerable<DareInfo> dareInfos; using (IDataContext ctx = DataContext.Instance()) { var rep = ctx.GetRepository<DareInfo>(); dareInfos = rep.Get(); } return dareInfos; }

  • MS Access "#Name?" in unbound field on SOME machines

    - by alkorya
    I have a datasheet form bound to table. I added 2 unbound fields and set their Control Source properties to user defined VBA functions: 1. ConcatRelated (http://allenbrowne.com/func-concat.html) 2. Custom function that returns a string: Public Function GetLowestSatatus(LookupField As String, JSAID As Integer) As String On Error Resume Next GetLowestSatatus = DLookup(LookupField, "JsaStatuses", "ID=" & DMin("StatusID", "Tasks", "JSAID =" & JSAID)) End Function It works fine on my and some other machines but there are machines I got "#Name?" in these 2 unbound fields. All machines configured identically. Any ideas? Thank you!

  • Scala methods ending in _=

    - by Alexey Romanov
    I seem to remember Scala treating methods ending in _= specially, so something like this: object X { var x: Int = 0; def y_=(n : Int) { x = n }} X.y = 1 should call X.y_=(1). However, in 2.8.0 RC1, I get an error message: <console>:6: error: value y is not a member of object X X.y = 1 ^ Interestingly, just trying to call the method without parentheses fails as well: scala> X.y_= 1 <console>:1: error: ';' expected but integer literal found. X.y_= 1 ^ Am I misremembering something which does actually exist or did I just invent it out of whole cloth?
