• Installing Rake: invalid gem format

  I installed Ruby on WinXP. Used rubyinstaller-1.8.6-p383-rc1.exe. Ran gem install rake Get error: Error installing rake: invalid gem format for C:/Ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/cache/rake-0.8.7.gem I've tried deleting the cache folder but i keep getting the same error. Tried with Ruby 1.9.1 too. Same error. What am i doing wrong?

  Hello Folks, I have a LDAP master server installed on CentOS-5.4 and I have installed LDAP on one more machine and I want it be configured as LDAP slave server but when I am importing the LDIF file or trying to create any new object in slave LDAP getting the below errors: LDIF text import Could not add object dc=transcomus,dc=com LDAP said: Server is unwilling to perform Error number: 0x35 (LDAP_UNWILLING_TO_PERFORM) Description: The LDAP server refused to perform the operation. • EC2 instance suddenly refusing SSH connections and won't respond to ping

  My instance was running fine and this morning I was able to access a Ruby on Rails app hosted on it. An hour later I suddenly wasn't able to access my site, my SSH connection attempts were refused and the server wasn't even responding to ping. I didn't change anything on my system during that hour and reboots aren't fixing it. I've never had any problems connecting or pinging the system before. Can someone please help? This is on my production system! • RHEL 6.x on Rackspace Cloud and Dedicated hardware experiencing Redis Timeouts

  I just recently set up a mixture of RHEL 6.1 Rackspace cloud hosts and RHEL 6.2 dedicated hosts using Rackconnect. I am experiencing intermittent Redis timeouts from within our Rails 3.2.8 app with Redis 2.4.16 running on the RHEL 6.2 dedicated hosts. There is no network latency or packet loss. Also there are no errors on any interfaces on our cloud or dedicated servers or on the managed firewall from Rackspace. When Redis timesout, there is nothing logged within redis even though it is set up to do debug logging. The only error we receive is from Airbrake saying there was a Redis timeout. • How to make Horde connect to mysql with UTF-8 character set?

  How to tell horde 3.3.11 to use UTF-8 for it's mysql connection? The $conf['sql']['charset'] only tells horde what is expected from the database. Horde uses MDB2 to connect to mysql. Is there way to force MDB2 or mysql character_set_client from php.ini? So far I found two workarounds: Force mysql to ignore character set requested by client [mysqld] skip-character-set-client-handshake=1 default-character-set=utf8 Force mysql to run SET NAMES utf8 on every connection [mysqld] init-connect='SET NAMES utf8' Both have drawbacks on multi user mysql server. The first disables converting character sets alltogether and the second one forces every connection to produce UTF-8. [EDIT] Found the problem. The 'charset' parameter was unset the last minute before sending to SQL backend. This is probably due to mysql not being able to digest utf-8 but utf8. Mysql specific mapping is required to make it work. I just worked around it by translating utf-8 - utf8.   I have just installed pidgin from the source code that i downloaded from pidgin site, it compile correctly with using below commands : ./configure --disable-gtkspell ; make ; make install but, when i try to start pidgin from terminal, occurres an error :? pidgin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libfarstream-0.1.so.0: undefined symbol: g_key_file_free how can i solve this problem ? • Out of memory error when enabling openX Market plugin

  We're trying to enable the openX Market plugin on openX 2.8.9. Enabling the plugin results in an "Allowed memory exceeded" error: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 201326592 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 76 bytes) in /home/openx/lib/pear/PEAR.php on line 868 no matter what we have our php memory_limit set to. It even exceeded 512MB. We're running RHEL 5.6 and PEAR 1.9.4 Has anybody else come across this problem?

• Dns with parallel resolution

  I'm looking for a simple caching (can be caching-only) DNS server, which can do parallel resolving on its own. Is there something like that available? Alternatively I know there's the c-ares library, which can do multiple-hosts resolution, but it's not a drop-in replacement for libresolve that I could use in the affected software. Maybe there is some other lib which can fulfill this requirement?

  I have no idea what has gone wrong here. I have installed the audiotool sox, then tried to install the library libsox-fmt-all and all of a sudden apt-get refused to work. I cannot use it now, neither to update nor to install anything. Could somebody suggest what i could do to get it back to work? • multiple puppet masters set up using inventory

  I have managed to set up multiple puppet masters with one puppet master acting as a CA and clients are able to get a certificate from this CA server but use their designated puppet master to get their manifests. See this question for more info.. multiple puppet masters. However, there are a couple of things I have had to do to get this working correctly and have an error which I'll get to. First of all, to get inventory working for a puppet-client (PC) connecting to its designated puppet-master (PM), I had to copy the CA certs on PM1 to the PM2 ca directory. I ran this command: scp [email protected]:/var/lib/puppet/ssl/ca/* [email protected]:/var/lib/puppet/ssl/ca/. Once i have done that, I was able to uncomment the SSLCertificateChainFile, SSLCACertificateFile & SSLCARevocationFile section of my rack.conf VH file on the PM2. Once I had done this, inventory started to work. Does this sound an acceptable way to do things? Secondly, in the puppet.conf file, I am setting the designated PM server for that client. Unless there is a better way, this is how it'll work in my production setup. So PC1 will talk to PM1 and PC2 will talk to PM2. This is where I have an error. When PC2 first requests a cert from the CA on PM1, the cert appears and then I sign the cert on the CA on PM1. When I then do a puppet agent --test on PC2 (which has server = PM2 in puppet.conf), I get this error: Warning: Unable to fetch my node definition, but the agent run will continue: Warning: Error 403 on SERVER: Forbidden request: puppet-master2.test.net(10.1.1.161) access to /certificate_revocation_list/ca [find] at :112 However, if I change the PC2 puppet.conf file and specify server = PM1 and the rerun puppet agent --test, i do not get any errors. I can then revert the change in the puppet.conf file back to server = PM2 and everything seems to run normally. Do I have to set up some kind of ProxyPassMatch on PM2 for requests made from clients to /certificate_revocation_list/* and redirect them to PM1? Or how can I fix this error? Cheers, Oli

  I have been using a MacOSX system for a while, but just only recently started poking into the guts. I found a guide telling me to run 'sudo ranlib /usr/local/lib/libjpeg.a'(installing libjpeg). I have read the ranlib manual, and tried looking online on it. I simply don't understand. What resources do I need to look up to learn more, or can someone give a concise explanation on its use?
