  • Java/Groovy File IO Replacing an Image File with it's own Contents - Why Does This Work?

    - by jboyd
    I have some JPG files that need to be replaced at runtime with a JFIF standardized version of themselves (we are using a vendor that gives us JPG that do not have proper headers so they don't work in certain applications)... I am able to create a new file from the existing image, then get a buffered image from that file and write the contents right back into the file without having to delete it and it works... imageSrcFolder.eachFileMatch ( ~/.*\.jpg/, { BufferedImage bi = ImageIO.read( it ) ImageIO.write( bi, "jpg", it ) }); The question I have is why? Why doesn't the file end up doubled in size? Why don't I have to delete it first? Why am I able to take a file object to an existing file and then treat it as if it were a brand new one? It seems that what I consider to be a "file" is not what the File object in java actually is, or else this wouldn't work at all. My code does exactly what I want it to do, but I'm not convinced it always will... it just seems way too easy

  • Add links to specific words within span tag in PHP

    - by dazhall
    I have a list of words that I'd like to add a link to, I can do this fairly easily using preg_match_all and preg_replace: $str = "<span class=\"cz\">Dám si jedno pivo prosím.</span> = I'll have a beer please."; preg_match_all('/[a-ztúuýžácdéeínórš]+/i',$str,$matches); $matches = array_unique($matches[0]); foreach ($matches as $match) { if(!empty($words[$match])) { $str = preg_replace("/(^|[^\w]){1}(".preg_quote($match,"/").")($|[^\w]){1}/i", '\\1<a href="#">\\2</a>\\3', $str); } } echo $str; What I'd like to do is restrict the linking to only within the span tag. My brain is all regex-ed out, so any help would be appreciated! Thanks! Darren.

  • delete multi-line block of text with internal flag in povray file

    - by Sibo Lin
    I have a pov-ray file, which defines a lot of cylinders and spheres. Sometimes these shapes are defined to have "color@", which makes the povray unrenderable. One solution I've found is to delete the offending cylinders and spheres. So a file that contains this text cylinder { < -0.17623, 0.24511, -0.27947>, < -0.15220, 0.22658, -0.26472>, 0.00716 texture { colorO } } sphere { < -0.00950, 0.00357, 0.00227>, 0.00716 texture { color@ } } cylinder { < -0.00950, 0.00357, 0.00227>, < 0.00327, 0.00169, 0.00108>, 0.00716 texture { color@ } } sphere { < 0.15373, 0.00601, 0.18223>, 0.00716 texture { colorO } } would turn into this text cylinder { < -0.17623, 0.24511, -0.27947>, < -0.15220, 0.22658, -0.26472>, 0.00716 texture { colorO } } sphere { < 0.15373, 0.00601, 0.18223>, 0.00716 texture { colorO } } Is there some way to do this replacement with a shell script? Preferably in tcsh. Thanks!

  • replacing text within quotes until next quote

    - by Jordan Trainor
    String input = "helloj\"iojgeio\r\ngsk\\"jopri\"gj\r\negjoijisgoe\"joijsofeij\"\"\"ojgsoij\""; This is my current code that works but iv added some code that has to run before this which makes some '"' split onto another line thus making the code below obsolute unless under certain cirumstances the '"' is not put onto the next line. firstQuote = input.IndexOf("\""); lastQuote = input.LastIndexOf("\""); input = input.Substring(0, firstQuote) + "<span>quote" + input.Substring(firstQuote + 1, lastQuote - (firstQuote + 1) + "quote</span>" + input.Substring(lastQuote + 1, lines.Length - (lastQuote + 1); How could I change the input string from input = "helloj\"iojgeio\r\ngsk\\"jopri\"gj\r\negjoijisgoe\"joijsofeij\"\"\"ojgsoij\""; to input = "helloj(<span>quoteiojgeio\r\ngsk\\"jopriquote</span>gj\r\negjoijisgoe<span>quotejoijsofeijquote</span>quote<span>quote</span>ojgsoij<span>quote</span>";

  • Conditional Regex Replace in C# without MatchEvaluator

    - by Buttink
    So, Im trying to make a program to rename some files. For the most part, I want them to look like this, [Testing]StupidName - 2[720p].mkv But, I would like to be able to change the format, if so desired. If I use MatchEvaluators, you would have to recompile every time. Thats why I don't want to use the MatchEvaluator. The problem I have is that I don't know how, or if its possible, to tell Replace that if a group was found, include this string. The only syntax for this I have ever seen was something like (?<group>:data), but I can't get this to work. Well if anyone has an idea, im all for it.

  • preg_replace hell

    - by Jason
    I'm trying to use preg_replace to get some data from a remote page, but I'm having a bit of an issue when it comes to sorting out the pattern. function getData($Url){ $str = file_get_contents($Url); if(strlen($str)>0){ preg_match("/\<span class=\"SectionHeader\"\>title\</span>/<br/>/\<div class=\"header2\"\>(.*)\</div\></span\>/",$str,$title); return $title[1]; } } Here's the HTML as is before I ended up throwing a million slashes at it (looks like I forgot a part or two): <span class="cell CellFullWidth"><span class="SectionHeader">mytitle</span><br/><div class="Center">Event Name</div></span> Where Event Name is the data I want to return in my function. Thanks a lot guys, this is a pain in the ass.

  • Regex to get rid of everything past the first sentence in a string in php

    - by andufo
    I need to get rid of everything after the first dot (if there is more than 1 sentence), but at the same time, cases like e.g. have to be omited. Some line e.g., when people do something. Extra content. Some line (some parenthesis). Extra content. I need to get rid of the "Extra content.". The returning value should be: Some line e.g., when people do something. Some line (some parenthesis). So far I've come with this regex taken from other threads, but it only finds the dots and split the string into an array. preg_replace('/(?<!\.)\.(?!(\s|$|\,|\w\.))/','',$text); Any ideas? Thanks.

  • php preg_replace, regexp

    - by Michael
    I'm trying to extract the postal codes from yell.com using php and preg_replace. I successfully extracted the postal code but only along with the address. Here is an example $URL = "http://www.yell.com/ucs/UcsSearchAction.do?scrambleSeed=17824062&keywords=shop&layout=&companyName=&location=London&searchType=advance&broaderLocation=&clarifyIndex=0&clarifyOptions=CLOTHES+SHOPS|CLOTHES+SHOPS+-+LADIES|&ooa=&M=&ssm=1&lCOption32=RES|CLOTHES+SHOPS+-+LADIES&bandedclarifyResults=1"; //get yell.com page in a string $htmlContent = $baseClass-getContent($URL); //get postal code along with the address $result2 = preg_match_all("/(.*)/", $htmlContent, $matches); print_r($matches); The above code ouputs something like Array ( [0] = Array ( [0] = 7, Royal Parade, Chislehurst, Kent BR7 6NR [1] = 55, Monmouth St, London, WC2H 9DG .... the problem that I have is that I don't know how to extract the the postal code because it doesn't have an exact number of digits (sometimes it has 6 digits and sometimes has only 5 times). Basically I should extract the lasted 2 words from each array . Thank you in advance for any help !

  • [BST] Deletion procedure

    - by Metz
    Hi all. Consider the deletion procedure on a BST, when the node to delete has two children. Let's say i always replace it with the node holding the minimum key in its right subtree. The question is: is this procedure commutative? That is, deleting x and then y has the same result than deleting first y and then x? I think the answer is no, but i can't find a counterexample, nor figure out any valid reasoning. Thank you. EDIT: Maybe i've got to be clearer. Consider the transplant(node x, node y) procedure: it replace x with y (and its subtree). So, if i want to delete a node (say x) which has two children i replace it with the node holding the minimum key in its right subtree: y = minimum(x.right) transplant(y, y.right) // extracts the minimum (it doesn't have left child) y.right = x.right y.left = x.left transplant(x,y) The question was how to prove the procedure above is not commutative.

  • SELECT with a Replace()

    - by andyjohnson
    I have a table of names and addresses, which includes a postcode column. I want to strip the spaces from the postcodes and select any that match a particular pattern. I'm trying this (simplified a bit) in T-SQL on SQL Server 2005: SELECT Replace(Postcode, ' ', '') AS P FROM Contacts WHERE P LIKE 'NW101%' But I get the following error; Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 3 Invalid column name 'P'. If I remove the WHERE clause I get a list of postcodes without spaces, which is what I want to search. How should I approach this? What am I doing wrong?

  • How can I create a Searchstring for a Google AJAX Search API?

    - by elmaso
    Hello, i have this code to get the search resutls from the api: querygoogle.php: <?php session_start(); // Here's the Google AJAX Search API url for curl. It uses Google Search's site:www.yourdomain.com syntax to search in a specific site. I used $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] to find my domain automatically. Change $_POST['searchquery'] to your posted search query $url = 'http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/search/web?rsz=large&v=1.0&start=20&q=' . urlencode('' . $_POST['searchquery']); // use fopen and fread to pull Google's search results $handle = fopen($url, 'rb'); $body = ''; while (!feof($handle)) { $body .= fread($handle, 8192); } fclose($handle); // now $body is the JSON encoded results. We need to decode them. $json = json_decode($body); // now $json is an object of Google's search results and we need to iterate through it. foreach($json->responseData->results as $searchresult) { if($searchresult->GsearchResultClass == 'GwebSearch') { $formattedresults .= ' <div class="searchresult"> <h3><a href="' . $searchresult->unescapedUrl . '">' . $searchresult->titleNoFormatting . '</a></h3> <p class="resultdesc">' . $searchresult->content . '</p> <p class="resulturl">' . $searchresult->visibleUrl . '</p> </div>'; } } $_SESSION['googleresults'] = $formattedresults; header('Location: ' . $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']); exit; ?> search.php <?php session_start(); ?> <form method="post" action="querygoogle.php"> <label for="searchquery"><span class="caption">Search this site</span> <input type="text" size="20" maxlength="255" title="Enter your keywords and click the search button" name="searchquery" /></label> <input type="submit" value="Search" /> </form> <?php if(!empty($_SESSION['googleresults'])) { echo $_SESSION['googleresults']; unset($_SESSION['googleresults']); } ?> but with this code, I cant add a searchstring.. how can i add a search string like search.php?search=keyword ? thanks

  • PHP preg_replace - Very quick question

    - by RC
    Masters of regular expressions, please help! See this string: $string = "http://www.url.com/?fieldA=123&fieldB=456&fieldC=789"; Assuming "fieldB" always has a positive non-decimal numerical value (but not necessarily three digits long), what preg_replace command do I need to remove it completely, such that the string will then read: $string = "http://www.url.com/?fieldA=123&fieldC=789"; Thanks!

  • php str_replace pattern

    - by user331071
    Hello , I have a php application that saves the pictures on the server and also stores the picture names in the database . The issue that I have is that the picture names include the path/folder where it was saved from (e.g 1220368812/chpk2198933_large-2.jpg) so I need a str_replace pattern to remove "1220368812/" and have the picture name correct stored in the db . Also I would appreciate if you will send me a good link that explains how exactly the str_replace patterns work or at least how the pattern that you use work .

  • Replace existing XML file within iPhone app

    - by Chonch
    Hey, I have an .xml file that is going to be shipped within my app. This file contains values that are read from it and saved as an array when the app launches. Each time the app is run, I want to check with the server if there is an internet connection. If so, I want to get the newest version of the .xml file from the server and replace the one that I currently have saved in my app (this way, the next time the user logs in and doesn't have internet access, he/she will be able to use the old (yet most up to date) data). What is the best way to do this? Thanks,

  • Regular Expression issue

    - by Christian Sciberras
    I have the following URL structure which I need to match to and get the particular id from: /group/subgroup/id-name In short, I need to translate a URL like the following: /Blue Products/Dark Blue/5-Blue_Jelly To: /?pagename=Blue Products&model=5 IMPORTANT: I don't need to match group, I already have group. Example code: <?php foreach($cats as $cat) $cmd->rewrite('/\/'.$cat.'\/unused\/(ID)-unused\//','/?pagename='.$cat.'&model=%ID%'); ?> Edit: This is the completed code: if($groups->count()){ $names=array(); foreach($groups->rows as $row) $names[]=preg_quote($row->group); $names=implode('|',$names); $regex='('.$names.')/([^/]+)/([0-9]{1,})-([^/]+)/?$'; CmsHost::cms()->rewrite_url($regex,'index.php?pagename=Products',true); }

  • DB2 Select - Replace STATES with two character code

    - by user2528724
    I have a Users Table where it stores city, state and country along with other Users attributes. The states are stored as California, Alabama and so forth. Now I want to retrieve the user information for certain records but the state should get translated to two digit code. Say 'California' should be 'CA'. How should I go about doing this. I was thinking to create a mapping table for state names with there abbreviation and then use some sort of replace function to do it. Any ideas ?
