• How to remove a Facebook App from Facebook's search results?

  I have a Facebook app so users can login to my website using their Facebook account, but when you type my website name into Facebook's search (the search box right next to the Facebook logo) the app shows up in the search results. When I click it, it says "Misconfigured App - Sorry, the details for AppName cannot be displayed because the app is misconfigured." I want to remove my app from Facebook's search results, because it's not meant for users, but I can't figure out how to do it. Any ideas?

  I starting doing some experimentation toward making a browser userscript for Google searches and when opening the JavaScript console noticed something that strikes me as very fishy: The page at https://www.google.com.au/search?oq=XYZ&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=XYZ displayed insecure content from http://50.116.62.47/js/chromeServerV45.js. The page at about:blank displayed insecure content from http://96.126.107.154/amz/google.php?callback=a&q=XYZ&country=US. (XYZ is a placeholder for whatever the search terms really was.) Is it likely that I've picked something like a drive-by browser infection? I've tried all kinds of searches for these URLs and other keywords but I've had no luck finding anything conclusive about whether they're malicious or what they are: 50.116.62.47 chromeServerV45.js 96.126.107.154 amz/google.php The only extensions I have installed are either widely used or written by myself. But something else is strange and I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence. I updated my Windows Chrome browser today to version 23.0.1271.64 m and now my Extensions tab as well as my settings tab are blank, so I can't try disabling my extesions. It is pretty straightforward to use argdo to search args files for a pattern and replace it while suppressing errors and requiring confirmation. :argdo %s/pattern/replace/gec | update However, I would like to delete entire lines that contain the pattern. I use the following. :argdo %/pattern/d | update But I can't suppress errors or require confirmation. Is there a way to do this? Thanks! (Also, is there a way to set "more" off? Thanks!)

• What's a good solution for file-tagging in linux?

  I've been looking for a way to tag my files and search/filter them based on those tags. Here are my (updated) requirements : any file readable by the user can be tagged freely a user can search for files matching one or several tags files can be moved around without losing the previously associated tags the system could be backed up easily no dependencies on any desktop environment if any gui is involved, there must be a cli fallback I've been hoping for some basic filesystem & coreutils hackery to handle this, but I haven' thought about this hard enough yet. Meanwhile I'll review beagle and metatracker, which have been mentionned here, and see how they perform. Ok so beagle has huge gnome dependencies, and tracker is okish, but still has some dependencies I don't like... Been doing some more research, and the way to go could very well be extended file attributes. That's a native solution for most recent filesystems, but they aren't very well supported yet (most coreutils destroys them by default, cp for example needs the -a flag to preserve them). Would like to hear some thoughts on using them while I try my hand at some hacks myself, eventhough this might warrant a new question.

• Outlook 2010 search not working after upgrade to windows 8

  After upgrading my computer to Windows 8 Outlook 2010 has stopped displaying search results. Normally you can enter a (part) of a word in the search box on top of the inbox list and it will show you result immediatly. Even mails allready visible on the screen are not found. Somebody familiar with this issue? Update: maybe relevant: I use an Google Apps Pro account. All mail is synced and locally available in Outlook 2010. I did not change this in any way while upgrading, it was working perfectly before. I can scroll through all the e-mails, new mails are coming in as expected. This morning I received two mails from a person by the name of Rosanne. When searching on her name in Outlook it gives me One (1) result, the last mail from today. Update 2: Rebuilding the index seemed to be working. But after another day it stopped working again. No results whatsoever in Outlook search. Rebuilding indexes every day is not an option as it takes several hours. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I use Google Apps Pro. It acts like a Exchange server to outlook. In indexing options (configuration) I added the directories containg the PST from this service (mail is also synced locally)

  When I install Ubunut 12.04 I'll be presented with three options - install ubuntu alongside windows, replace windows with ubuntu and 'something else'. If I choose 'replace windows' then I can not be able to make a swap space. So what then. I've 1GB ram. And if I choose 'replace windows' will my only C drive get replaced or what'll happen? If only C drive is affected then will data on the other 2 drives get saved? Again if yes, how can I access it (on which drive of ubuntu) after installing ubuntu?

  I search for a possibility to migrate my PC OpenGL application and an iPhone App into one XCode project (for convenience). So if I make chances to these source files I want to apply this for both plattforms and want to be able to compile for both plattforms from one project. How could I accomplish this? Is there a way to do so in XCode 4 or 3.25? Any help would be highly appreciated edit: Okay, I went so far - All in all, it seems to work with XCode 4.   I've made a script which copies the alt attribute of an image and puts it into a <span>. It also formulates the information divided by a hyphen. It works like a charm, but only with one image. I would also like to wrap a <div> around the image to prevent unnecessary markup.   I want to modify the way pages are listed in the navigation, particularly the function el_start from wp-includes/classes.php. I've first modified the classes.php directly and it worked fine butnow I want to revert classes.php and move the modification out of wordpress' internal files. I wrote a walker class that I want to use but I don't know how to use it. • Will JSON replace XML as a data format?

  When I first saw XML, I thought it was basically a representation of trees. Then I thought: the important thing isn't that it's a particularly good representation of trees, but that it is one that everyone agrees on. Just like ASCII. And once established, it's hard to displace due to network effects. The new alternative would have to be much better (maybe 10 times better) to displace it. Of course, ASCII has been (mostly) replaced by Unicode, for internationalization. According to google trends, XML has a x43 lead, but is declining - while JSON grows. Will JSON replace XML as a data format? (edited) for which tasks? for which programmers/industries? NOTES: S-expressions (from lisp) are another representation of trees, but which has not gained mainstream adoption. There are many, many other proposals, such as YAML and Protocol Buffers (for binary formats). I can see JSON dominating the space of communicating with client-side AJAX (AJAJ?), and this possibly could back-spread into other systems transitively. XML, being based on SGML, is better than JSON as a document format. I'm interested in XML as a data format. XML has an established ecosystem that JSON lacks, especially ways of defining formats (XML Schema) and transforming them (XSLT). XML also has many other standards, esp for web services - but their weight and complexity can arguably count against XML, and make people want a fresh start (similar to "web services" beginning as a fresh start over CORBA).

  I'm trying to replace a set of characters within a string. The string may or may not have any data to change. The string is marked up in a way that allows for it to change it's color from a set of characters. The string can reset it's it's formatting to default by using a defined set of characters. This setup is very much like the ECMA-48 standard used on LINUX consoles for colors and other special effects. Where one string could be ^0Black^1Red^2Green^3Yellow^4Blue^5Purple^6Cyan^7White Producing the following HTML: <span style="color: #000">Black</span><span style="color: #F00">Red</span><span style="color: #0F0">Green</span><span style="color: #FF0">Yellow</span><span style="color: #00F">Blue</span><span style="color: #F0F">Purple</span><span style="color: #0FF">Cyan</span><span style="color: #FFF">White</span> Another string (^1Error^8: ^3User Error) could also produce: <span style="color: #F00">Error</span>: <span style="color: #FF0">User Error</span> You might of noticed the ^8 part of that string resets the color for that part of the string. What's the best way to go about parsing these kinds of strings?

  I'm using Perl to perform some file cleansing, and am running into some performance issues. One of the major parts of my code involves standardizing name fields. Is there a better way to implement this kind of logic than what I'm doing currently? Thanks Edit: Quick note, not all the replace functions are just removing periods and spaces. • Apache attack on compromised server, iframe injected by string replace

  My server has been compromised recently. This morning, I have discovered that the intruder is injecting an iframe into each of my HTML pages. After testing, I have found out that the way he does that is by getting Apache (?) to replace every instance of <body> by <iframe link to malware></iframe></body> For example if I browse a file residing on the server consisting of: </body> </body> Then my browser sees a file consisting of: <iframe link to malware></iframe></body> <iframe link to malware></iframe></body> I have immediately stopped Apache to protect my visitors, but so far I have not been able to find what the intruder has changed on the server to perform the attack. I presume he has modified an Apache config file, but I have no idea which one. In particular, I have looked for recently modified files by time-stamp, but did not find anything noteworthy. • Replace low level web-service reference call transport with custom one

  I'm not sure if title sounds right actually, so I will give more explanation here. I will begin from very beginning :) I'm using c# and .net for my development. I have an application that makes requests to some soap web-service and for each user request it produces 3 to 10 requests for web-service, they should all run async to finish in one time, so I use Async method of the web-service generated reference and then wait for result on callback. But it seems like it starts a thread (or takes it from pool) for every async call I make, so if I have 10 clients I got to spawn 30 to 100 threads and it sounds terrible even for my 16 cores server :) So i wanted to replace low level transport implementation with my own which uses non-blocking sockets and can handle at least 50 sockets run parallel in one thread with not much overhead. But I actually dunno where to put my override best. I analyzed System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol class and see that it has some GetWebRequest method which I actually could use. If only I could somehow interupt the object it creates and get a http request with all headers and body from there and then send it with my own sockets.. Any ideas what approach to use? Or maybe there's something built in the framework I can use?

• Android, how to use DexClassLoader to dynamically replace an Activity or Service

  I am trying to do something similar to this stackoverflow posting. What I want to do is to read the definition of an activity or service from the SD card. To avoid manifest permission issues, I create a shell version of this activity in the .apk, but try to replace it with an activity of the same name residing on the SD card at run time. Unfortunately, I am able to load the activity class definition from the SD card using DexClassLoader, but the original class definition is the one that is executed. Is there a way to specify that the new class definition replaces the old one, or any suggestions on avoiding the manifest permission issues without actually providing the needed activity in the package?
