• deleting registry key, using visual stusdio 2008 setup and deployment project in windows 7

  Hi, I have created a setup and deployment project in visual studio 2008 pro. using visual C++, and in it I have two exe files which run under custom actions. One is running in commit and other in uninstall. Purpose is to add a registry key at install time and remove it at uninstall. It works perfectly on Windows XP but when I change to Windows 7 and run the setup, only the key-adding part works. The key doesn't get deleted at uninstall. But when I take the uninstall exe file out from the setup and run it separately on Windows 7, (not through the setup, by just double-clicking on the exe) it removes the registry entry perfectly. Any idea what the problem is??? Thanks and Regards.

• Move a legend in ggplot2

  I'm trying to create a ggplot2 plot with the legend beneath the plot. The ggplot2 book says on p 112 "The position and justification of legends are controlled by the theme setting legend.position, and the value can be right, left, top, bottom, none (no legend), or a numeric position". The following code works (since "right" it is the default), and it also works with "none" as the legend position, but "left", "top", "bottom", all fail with "Error in grid.Call.graphics("L_setviewport", pvp, TRUE) : Non-finite location and/or size for viewport" library(ggplot2) (myDat <- data.frame(cbind(VarX=10:1, VarY=runif(10)), Descrip=sample(LETTERS[1:3], 10, replace=TRUE))) qplot(VarX,VarY, data=myDat, shape=Descrip) + opts(legend.position="right") What am I doing wrong? • Project links in RAD Studio Welcome page do not work

  Hi, As you know, welcome page in RAD Studio shows a list of recent projects, and you can open each project by clicking on its name. My problem is that if the project is located somewhere My Documents folder, then the link in welcome page does not work! It works fine for projects which are located outside My Documents, but no links to anything inside My Documents work. It's been a while I am having this problem both in RAD Studio 2009 and RAD Studio 2010 on Windows Vista and Windows 7 (64-bit). I tried running the IDE as administrator to see if it works, but it didn't. I think it must be something related to IE security settings. Any idea? Thanks

• Problem uploading .docx through html form

  I've made a simple form, with the proper enctype for uploading files. When i try to upload a .docx everything works fine in IE 8 and Safari, but in Firefox or IE 7 or 6 i can't even click submit, nothing happens! Could this still be a server issue? It's an apache server. • Are Cross Domain Flash Shared Objects (LSO aka Flash Cookie) possible

  Hi, I found several solutions for creating Flash LSOs from JavaScript (for example: http://www.nuff-respec.com/technology/cross-browser-cookies-with-flash ) If Page (www.hostA.com/index.html) and the .swf file are from the same site, everything works fine. No I'm trying to load the page form www.hostA.com/index.html, which includes www.hostB.com/flashcookie.swf (different sites). But then I cannot read or store the LSO. I have tried several configurations (crossdomain.xml, Security.allowDomain("...") ), but nothing works. Is this kind of cross domain access to a LSO possible? Thanks -stephan

• iPhone SDK Push Notification

  I have setup push notifications in the apple developer panel and added the code to my application. Does anyone know what would cause this?, I've tried changing lots of things to try and find the issue but have found nothing.

• Cufon JS is not loading

  I've developed a website in html/css and it works perfectly fine. Now I'm working with the coder, integrating this to a .NET framework, changing the website to .apsx instead of html, but during the build of the website, the only error that is marked is the load of Cufon , it simply can't load and the structure and syntax of all the commands are the same I used with the html site that actually works. There are no path problems so far. What do you guys think would be this problem ? Thank you for your kind help.

• Multiple delivery confirmations per message with Ruby SMPP

  I am using the ruby smpp library to send/receive SMS. Right now we are sending messages to two different servers, using the ruby-smpp library. One of them works perfectly, but the other one sends multiple DELIVRD confirmations for each messages. And by multiple I mean hundreds of confirmations per message in some cases. Does anyone know any possible reason behind this? I am thinking on something relative to the implementation of the protocol the company is using, since it works perfectly with the other one, and not on the lines of a bug in the specific smpp ruby library. We are using smpp v3.4.

• Load nsimage from url but only some url's work

  I have some code that loads an image file off the web and puts it in an image view. The problem is it works with everything but Google Charts. This is frustrating because I was relying on this to graph data for my app. Heres the url I need to load: Click to see my test chart. Im not sure why NSImage seems to refuse to load this when it works with everything elese. If you know why or have a work-around any help is appreciated. • NUnit-console 2.5.4 not capable of running multiple assemblies?

  I am having problems running tests with the command line NUnit test runner. I am using version 2.5.4 with .NET 4 on an x64 machine. Using the following line results in a failure "Could not load file or assembly 'bar' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified." nunit-console-x86 foo.dll bar.dll /framework=4.0.30319 If I reverse the dll file names it complains about not finding 'foo' instead... It works if I run them separately like: nunit-console-x86 foo.dll /framework=4.0.30319 Also the tests of the second file works if I run: nunit-console-x86 bar.dll /framework=4.0.30319 Before upgrading our projects to 4.0 we used NUnit 2.5.2 and the same command line tool options and at that point the runner worked well with multiple assemblies. It seems like the ability to run tests on multiple files at the same time is broken... Anyone that can see the same behavior or does it work indicating that my environment is somehow broken? /Per

• Is there a JS diff library against htmlstring just like google-diff-match-patch on plain text?

  Currently I am using google-diff-match-patch to implement a real-time editing tool, which can synchronize texts between multiple users. Everything works great when operations are only plain texts, each user's operation(add/delete texts) could be diff-ed out by comparing to old text snapshot with the helper of google-diff. But when rich format texts(like bold/italic) are involved, google-diff not working well when comparing the htmlstring. The occurrence of character of < and > messed up the diff results, especially when bold/italic format are embedded within each other. Could anyone suggest a similar library like google-diff to diff htmlstrings? Or any suggestions can get my problem fixed with google-diff? I understood google-diff is designed for plain text, but really didn't find a better library than it so far, so it also works if a doable enhancement to google-diff can help. Thanks for any comments. • Problems with makeObjectsPerformSelector inside and outside a class?

  A friend and I are creating a card game for the iPhone, and in these early days of the project, I'm developing a Deck class and a Card class to keep up with the cards. I'm wanting to test the shuffle method of the Deck class, but I am not able to show the values of the cards in the Deck class instance. The Deck class has a NSArray of Card objects that have a method called displayCard that shows the value and suit using console output(printf or NSLog). In order to show what cards are in a Deck instance all at once, I am using this, [deck makeObjectsPerformSelector:@selector(displayCard)], where deck is the NSArray in the Deck class. Inside of the Deck class, nothing is displayed on the console output. But in a test file, it works just fine. Here's the test file that creates its own NSArray: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "card.h" int main (int argc, char** argv) { NSAutoreleasePool* pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; Card* two = [[Card alloc] initValue:2 withSuit:'d']; Card* three = [[Card alloc] initValue:3 withSuit:'h']; Card* four = [[Card alloc] initValue:4 withSuit:'c']; NSArray* deck = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:two,three,four,nil]; //Ok, what if we release the objects in the array before they're used? //I don't think this will work... • Can I call a com object from a referenced .net library in asp.net 3.5

  Hi, I'm using ASP.NET on C# and I have a referanced library in the same solution in VB which calls a COM object using CreateObject. When I run the site on my comp it works, when I run it on my IIS 6 it gives me a stackoverflow on the method call. Now I have a script wich runs the VB code on the IIS6 and it works just fine. It must be something with the ASP... How can I call Com objects within ASP..., Do I have to do something special? Pls help.

• Libreoffice Calc run macro with HYPERLINK

  I'm trying to use hyperlinks instead of buttons to run Basic macros. It seems to be more natural to me because hyperlinks are directly connected to a cell and buttons are not. I'm using the following Formula: =HYPERLINK("vnd.sun.star.script:Standard.Module1.Test?language=Basic&location=document";"Check") It should call the Subroutine Test placed in the document's macros under Standard.Module1 and display the Text 'Check' in the Cell it is written. This works absolutely fine with libreoffice 3.6.1.2 but it doesn't work at all with version 4.1.4.2. I can't see any errors it just happens nothing at all. I tried to simply click the Hyperlink and also to hold CTRL and click it. Same result - nothing. When I use a button the macro works as expected. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

• Winforms - a strange problem a with simple binding

  Hi Guys, It's hard for me to clearly describe my problem but I'll try. I have a UserControl1 which contains UserControl2 which contains several WinForms controls (most of them DevExpress). I do simple binding to these controls to my datatable fields. So far everything works fine. When I move the focus to a record in the table (by navigating in a grid rows for example) the binding works great, the concurrenmcy manager moves the cursor and everything reflects right in the bounded controls. The problem starts when I add new user UserControl3 above UserControl2 and make UserControl2.Visible = false. Now UserControl3 is shown and UserControl2 exists but not shown. Now when I set UserControl2.Visible = true to show it again the simple binding stops working! I navigate in the grid but either the ConcurrencyManager stops working or the simple binding becomes disconnected. My question: Are there any known issues/ best practices with the binding & concurrency manager? Thanks a lot, Adi Barda

  I have a subtitle text file that works with standart srt format 00:00:00,000 Hour, minutes, seconds, milliseconds. I want to create a timer to update the subtitle screen and check the current time to know what subtitle show on screen. Which is the best to use? NSTimeInterval, NSDate? I think the best is to convert all to times to milliseconds number and compare. But NSTimeInterval works with seconds, not milliseconds. Some clue? Marcos

• Does JSONP scale? How many JSONP requests can I send?

  Based on Please explain JSONP, I understand that JSONP can be used to get around the same-origin policy. But in order to do that, the page must use a <script> tag. I know that pages can dynamically emit new script tags, such as with: <script type="text/javascript" language='javascript'> document.write('<script type="text/javascript" ' + 'id="contentloadtag" defer="defer" ' + 'src="javascript:void(0)"><\/script>'); var contentloadtag=document.getElementById("contentloadtag"); contentloadtag.onreadystatechange=function(){ if (this.readyState=="complete") { init(); } } </script> (the above works in IE, don't think it works in FF). ... but does this mean, effectively, that every JSONP call requires me to emit another <script> tag into the document? Can I remove the <script> tags that are done?

• UITableViewCell imageView.contentMode doesn't work in 3.0

  In UITableViewCellStyleDefault, setting the contentMode on the imageView has no result. If I change my build SDK to version 3.1, everything again works. I don't get any warnings or errors when compiling on 3.0 but this code: cell.imageView.contentMode = UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit; cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@head.jpg",[gametype objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]lowercaseString]]; seems to default to the UIViewContentModeCenter, so all of my pictures exceed the cell boundaries and encroach on neighboring cells. Let me reiterate that if I change my target to 3.1 everything works correctly and all pictures are scaled accordingly to fit in the default imageView Is this a known bug?

  I have 2 database fields `decval` decimal(5,2) `intval` int(3) I have 2 pdo queries that update them. The one that updates the int works ok $update_intval->bindParam(':intval', $intval, PDO::PARAM_INT); but I can't update the decimal field. I've tried the 3 ways below, but nothing works $update_decval->bindParam(':decval', $decval, PDO::PARAM_STR); $update_decval->bindParam(':decval', $decval, PDO::PARAM_INT); $update_decval->bindParam(':decval', $decval); It seems the problem is with the database type decimal? Is there a PDO::PARAM for a field of type decimal? If not, what do I use as a workaround?

• Runing directx samples on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device

  Hi, I tried to run the directx samples from ..\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\Samples\PocketPC\CPP\win32\directx\d3dm\tutorials on m Samsung Omnia and on the emulator and it doesn't work because a deployment error. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and have installed Windows Mobile SDK Standard and Professional refresh. The device is correctly plugged in and set up for active sync(I know this because other samples work, also a creating Win32 smart device and running it works) When I try to run the application it compiles without errors but the message: " There were deployment errors, Continue? Yes/No" appears If I manually copy the application from the debug folder to the device and run it from there, it works. The same deployment error message appears if I try it on an emulator. Other applications are deploying successfully. Is there any way to make the deployment work? Maybe there is an obscure option I need to set... Thank you

• How do you deal with UAC when creating a process as a different user?

  I am having an issue with UAC and executing a non interactive process as a different user (APIs such as CreateProcessAsUser or CreateProcessWithLogonW). My program is intended to do the following: 1) Create a new windows user account (check, works correctly) 2) Create a non interactive child process as new user account (fails when UAC is enabled) My application includes a administrator manifest, and elevates correct when UAC is enabled in order to complete step 1. But step 2 is failing to execute correctly. I suspect this is because the child process which executes as another user is not inheriting the elevated rights of my main process (which executes as the interactive user). I would like to know how to resolve this issue. When UAC is off my program works correctly. How can I deal with UAC or required elevated rights in this situation? If it helps any, the child process needs to run as another user in order to setup file encryption for the new user account.

• How to link a SQlite Extension Source File into Xcode for iPhone?

  I use a statically linked library for Sqlite in an iPhone Xcode project. I am now trying to include a .C extension to Sqlite in this project. However, I am having trouble making the Sqlite in the build SEE the extension. The statically linked Sqlite library works fine. Also the .C extension works on my desktop, and builds fine as a statically linked library in Xcode. However, the custom functions it defines are missing when called. For example, I load the extension as so with no errors. SELECT load_extension('extension_name.so'); But when I try to call a function defined in the extension, I get this message DB Error: 1 "no such function: custom_function" Does anyone know much about linking a Sqlite extension into an Xcode project?

• Refresh Windows Explorer in Win7

  My program sets "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced" value "Hidden". Hovewer I'm not able to refresh the explorer to take into account this change. I've tried: 1) SHChangeNotify(SHCNE_ASSOCCHANGED, SHCNF_IDLIST, IntPtr.Zero, IntPtr.Zero);` 2) SHELLSTATE state = new SHELLSTATE(); state.fShowAllObjects = (uint)1; SHGetSetSettings(ref state, SSF.SSF_SHOWALLOBJECTS, true); 3) SendMessageTimeout(HWND_BROADCAST, WM_SETTINGCHANGE, SPI_SETNONCLIENTMETRICS, 0, SMTO_ABORTIFHUNG, 5000, ref dwResult); 4) SendMessage(HWND_BROADCAST, WM_COMMAND, 28931 /* Refresh */, 0); Nothing works. So what should I do? If I refresh Explorer myself with F5, then it works. Hovewer I would like some elegant solution, so it would refresh the display everywhere, even in OpenFile/SaveFile dialogs, which are currently open. I'm using C# .NET, Win7.
