  Hi All, I had a problem when I am using Cilk++, an extension to C++ for parallel computing.   I have five tables in my database. Members, items, comments, votes and countries. I want to get 10 items. I want to get the count of comments and votes for each item. I also want the member that submitted each item, and the country they are from. After posting here and elsewhere, I started using subselects to get the counts, but this query is taking 10 seconds or more! • Dynamically loading CSS and JavaScript using Prototype

  I have a classic ASP application that I've been constantly trying to modularize. Currently, almost all pages are divided in to two pages: an outer page that contains the layout, header, sidebar, footer an inner page that contains ASP code The outer pages use dreamweaver templates so updating layout and replicating changes is easy. The inner pages are managed by me. Now here is the problem: I had to add a lightbox to one page, I chose Lightbox 2 which requires Prototype. I ended up adding Prototype on every page, assuming that sooner or later I'll upgrade all pages, forms, ajax requests and other javascript to use Prototype. I've now added two other plugins -- Modalbox and Protofade; each with a pair of .JS and .CSS files. Since I'll be using these three plugins on specific set of pages I am wondering if I can load the required CSS and JS files dynamically. I do not want to access the document head and add include files there, I'll have to do this from inside a DIV where all ASP code is supposed to go.

• CSS Rollovers: how to maintain "hit area" size when hidden image is larger than anchor area

  I have a small problem and I don't think what I want to do can be achieved with just pure CSS, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Basically, I have one DIV which contains a hyperlinked element that is smaller in size to it's parent DIV. So in effect I have a square within a square with the inner square being the "hit area". When I mouse over this inner square I want the background of the outer square to change. I know it's not possible to change the parent DIV's background on a:hover, but I figured I could give the illusion of it happening by nesting a hidden image inside the anchor. This works great until I want to "roll off". The problem is that I want the image to disappear when I leave the area of the anchor tag, not the larger hidden image. Is this possible? • MS Access MSChart.Graph.8 not printing

  Software: Microsoft Access 2007 SP2 Database File Version: Access 2000 I have an access program that I inherited from a previous employee. It uses forms for reports and since I don't have much experience in access I have continued to do this. I have created a copy of the program for another project and modified it to suit. I am having trouble getting more then one chart to print. All the charts display in form view, they all have the same properties (excepting data, position, etc.) For some reason they are not printing. They don't even show up in the print preview. I am thinking it must be something with the graphs themselves as they sometimes lose all information. I have to open the graphs in edit mode and change the data source from column to row and back again so that it gets redrawn. (Refresh doesn't fix it) So right now I don't even have a clue as to where to look so ideas are welcome. Edit #1 It seems to be a problem with linking to an unbound form. Subform Field Linker: Can't build a link between unbound forms. The graph will print if I remove the links, but then I have all the data from chart query as it is not limited by ixTest. edit #2 It seems to be a data retrieval/rendering issue in printing. Is there anything in printing that changes the context of records with respect to parent/child relationships?

  I have a form (Quote) with an auto-number ID, on the form at the moment are two subforms that show different items (sub 1 shows partition modules sub 2 shows partition abutments) both forms use the same parts tables to build them. Both forms are linked to the quote form using the ID. All works well until the forms is refreshed or re-loaded, subform 1 shows the module names and quantities and blank spaces for the abutment names but shows the quantiews for the abutments, the reverse of this is shown in the abutments subform 2. When the lists for the variuos types and the detailed parts lists are printed they are correct. This seems to be only a visual problem. All based on Access 2003. • maven project with netbeans compiles fully on every run

  I was experimenting with Netbeans 6.8 (I'm currently an Eclipse user) because I like having a profiler built into the IDE. It seems that for maven projects, netbeans does a full compile (it invokes process-classes) every time I try to run the project, as opposed to Eclipse, which uses the incremental Java compiler. Is there a way to avoid having netbeans run mvn process-classes every time I want to run the main class? thanks, Jeff

  I have a table (that relates to a number of other tables) where I would like to filter ONE of the columns (RequesterID) - that column will be a combobox where only people that are not sales people should be selectable. Here is the "unfiltered" query, lets call it QUERY 1: SELECT RequestsID, RequesterID, ProductsID FROM dbo.Requests If using a separate query, lets call it QUERY 2, to filter RequesterID (which is a People related column, connected to People.PeopleID), it would look like this: SELECT People.PeopleID FROM People INNER JOIN Roles ON People.RolesID = Roles.RolesID INNER JOIN Requests ON People.PeopleID = Requests.RequesterID WHERE (Roles.Role <> N'SalesGuy') ORDER BY Requests.RequestsID Now, is there a way of "merging" the QUERY 2 into QUERY 1? (dbo.Requests in QUERY 1 has RequesterID populated as a Foreign Key from dbo.People, so no problem there... The connections are all right, just not know how to write the SQL query!)

• In SQL, in what situation do we want to Index a field in a table, or 2 fields in a table at the same

  In SQL, it is obvious that whenever we want to do a search on millions of record, say CustomerID in a Transactios table, then we want to add an index for CustomerID. Is another situation we want to add an index to a field when we need to do inner join or outer join using that field as a criteria? Such as Inner join on t1.custumerID = t2.customerID. Then if we don't have an index on customerID on both tables, we are looking at O(n^2) because we need to loop through the 2 tables sequentially. If we have index on customerID on both tables, then it becomes O( (log n) ^ 2 ) and it is much faster. Any other situation where we want to add an index to a field in a table? What about adding index for 2 fields combined in a table. That is, one index, for 2 fields together?

• Send keystrokes to TextBox

  I have a derived TextBox where I intercept the userinput to manipulate it. However I have to preserve the original typed input. So my idea was to hold an inner TextBox within my derived class and send the user's input to that TextBox before manipulating it. The reason for this approach is that I do not want to take care of all this special actions like: typing something, ctrl+a, [del], type something else, [backspace] and so on ... However I do not know how to send a single keystroke (keycode, ascii, char) to a TextBox. Maybe you have another idea without an inner TextBox at all? Thank you!
