• Git push origin master

  I posted this question early yesterday, but the thread seems to have died out. For reference, see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2619117/git-push-origin-master . Here's the low-down: I'm new to git. I just set up an account with github and I followed all their instructions flawlessly until I got to the last command of git push origin master Upon entering this command, I get the error message "fatal: No path specified. See 'man git-pull' for valid url syntax." If I type in git origin show the output I see is origin. If I type in git remote -n show the output is * remote origin URL: [email protected]: HEAD branch: (not queried) Local ref configured for 'git push' (status not queried): (matching) pushes to (matching) Please help me get to the bottom of this.

• Installing PostGIS on Windows

  I've installed PostgreSQL and PostGIS, and now I'm trying to follow these instructions: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/gis/install/#spatialdb-template But I keep getting the following error, both in the command prompt and in Cygwin: C:\Users\Home>createdb -E UTF8 template_postgis createdb: could not connect to database postgres: could not connect to server: No such file or directory Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"? And I know PostgreSQL is running, because I'm using it right now! Installing open source applications can sometimes be so frustrating... I'll be very grateful for your help!

• Problem creating PostGIS template database

  I am trying to build a template geographic database for PostGIS (1.5) on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) for my GeoDjango application. I am following: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/gis/install/#creating-a-spatial-database-template-for-postgis I've managed to come up to the point where the provided postgis.sql should be run (i.e. psql -d template_postgis -f $POSTGIS_SQL_PATH/postgis.sql) At that point I am getting an error at the first SQL statement that is tried to be run. When I try that on the psql prompt the result is as follows: template_postgis=# CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION st_spheroid_in(cstring) RETURNS spheroid AS '/usr/local/pgsql/lib/postgis-1.5','ellipsoid_in' LANGUAGE 'C' IMMUTABLE STRICT; NOTICE: type "spheroid" is not yet defined DETAIL: Creating a shell type definition. • How do I get HTML Markup for createRange() in Firefox

  I am currently using code similar to this: try { // IE ONLY var theElement = "myElementName"; window.frames[theElement].focus(); var selection = window.frames[theElement].document.selection.createRange(); alert ( selection.htmlText ); } catch(e) { var selection = window.frames[theElement].document.getSelection(); alert ( selection ); } As you can see, I am accessing a node from an iframe (no fun already). I am definitely in new territory here, so am sure there are more issues to arise, but right now, I am trying to get Firefox to give me the same result as IE. In IE, I can access the HTML code of the selection by using the (apparently IE-only) htmlText property of the object returned by createRange(). What I am looking for is the Firefox equivalent to that (or a function that I can use to give me the same result). Anyone know how to do this?

  Hello: I would like to do an interesting project for a computer graphics course. I know that there is a lot of literature out there (i.e. SIGGRAPH conference papers). I have a very large range of interest with regard to computer graphics (i.e. image processing, 3D modeling, rendering, animation). However, I've only taken computer vision/graphics for 2 semesters and thus don't have too much background experience, except for the class projects that I had to do. I've been looking through SIGGRAPH papers trying to see if there is anything that will be of interest to me but the literature is extremely vast. I was wondering if anyone has any topic suggestions, anything interesting that you ran across that you could recommend. I would prefer to do something fun yet slightly challenging (not really interested in making a shooter game). If this question does not belong here, I apologize and please let me know where I should move it. Thanks!

How can I do that manually, some good examples of WCF Systems (mostly on desktop applications over TCP). I'd like a book or documentation or anything else, that can give me advanced knowledge of WCF.   When writing C++ code I've learned that using the stack to store memory is a good idea. But recently I ran into a problem: I had an experiment that had code that looked like this: void fun(unsigned int N) { float data_1[N*N]; float data_2[N*N]; /* Do magic */ } The code exploted with a seqmentation fault at random, and I had no idea why. It turned out that problem was that I was trying to store things that were to big on my stack, is there a way of detecting this? Or at least detecting that it has gone wrong?

  I'm writing a sokoban solver for fun and practice, it uses a simple algorithm (something like BFS with a bit of difference). now i want to estimate its running time ( O and omega). but need to know how to calculate count of acyclic paths from a vertex to another in a network. actually I want an expression that calculates count of valid paths, between two vertices of a m*n matrix of vertices. a valid path: visits each vertex 0 or one times. have no circuits for example this is a valid path: but this is not: What is needed is a method to find count of all acyclic paths between the two vertices a and b. comments on solving methods and tricks are welcomed.

  hey guys couple of quick questions 1) In the local search results - we can get a lot of parameters like street title, address, city, state, lat, long , url etc - In order for me to uniquely identify this record - can I consider URL to be unique to this address or concatenation of latitude and longitude Ref: http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxsearch/documentation/reference.html#_class_GlocalResult 2) In terms of usage, depending upon what user enters, I'm displaying a list of local business for the user to choose. Now when a user selects a particular business address - is it legal for me to store that business address along with lat and longitude information in my database for future look ups.   I want to know how do you manage your vim plugins. As it is, One of the biggest fun of using is that one can easily try many interesing new plugins, just download it and unzip it in under ~/.vim. But if you try too often and try too much, you might get trouble as confilct of key mapping , in compatitble script version, dpendency between different plugin ..... Then you want to remove some plugin ,kind of like rollback your vim to a sound condition. But, the rollback could be very painful . cus for some "giant" plugin, like perl-support ( it's great plugin, anyway), will consist of many vim scripts which spread in different dirctories. To remove single one giant plugin will be anoying, not too mention if you remvoe many plugin at one time. In a word , I'm looking for good practice for managing vim plugins.

  Hi, I'm trying make a query that looks at a single table and looks to see if a student is a team called CMHT and in a medic team - if they are I don't want to see the result. I only want see if there only in CMHT or medic not both. Would the right direction be using sub query to filer it out? I've done a search on NOT IN but how could you get to see check if its in more then 2 teams are not? • How can I detect a debugger or other tool that might be analysing my software?

  A very simple situation. I'm working on an application in Delphi 2007 which is often compiled as 'Release' but still runs under a debugger. And occasionally it will run under SilkTest too, for regression testing. While this is quite fun I want to do something special... I want to detect if my application is running within a debugger/regression-tester and if that's the case, I want the application to know which tool is used! (Thus, when the application crashes, I could report this information in it's error report.) Any suggestions, solutions?

• Getting started with writing a desktop app that talks to an iPhone

  I'm thinking of writing an app to selectively transfer photos/music to and from my iPhone, mostly for fun and personal convenience. However, I'm stuck at the very beginning -- where do I look to find information on how to do this? Pretty much every link I see talks about developing applications that run on the iPhone, but nothing about desktop app for interfacing with an iPhone. I'm on Windows (no access to a Mac, but I'll take suggestions for that for when I eventually acquire one), and I'm most familiar with C#, but other languages are definitely an option. Can anybody offer me a few pointers on getting started? Thanks.

  Hi I am using the AudioRecord class to analize raw pcm bytes as it comes in the mic. So thats working nicely. Now i need convert the pcm bytes into decibel. I have a formula that takes sound presure in Pa into db. db = 20 * log10(Pa/ref Pa) So the question is the bytes i am getting from audiorecorder from the buffer what is it is it amplitude pascal sound pressure or what. I tried to putting the value into te formula but it comes back with very hight db so i do not think its right thanks

• Can DBRefs contain additional fields?

  I've encountered several situations when using MongoDB that require the use of DBRefs. However, I'd also like to cache some fields from the referenced document in the DBRef itself. {$ref:'user', $id:'10285102912A', username:'Soviut'} For example, I may want to have the username available even though the user document is referenced. This would provide me all the benefits of a single document approach; Faster querying and eliminating the need to do manual dereferencing in my code. While at the same time allowing me to use references where they make sense. The idea being that when the referenced document is updated (a user changes their name, for example) my business layer can automatically update all the documents that reference it. Ultimately, I'm wondering if it's considered good form to store additional fields on my DBRefs? Will it break anything? Will I lose my data each time a reference is rewritten? Will drivers like pymongo support it?

• StackOverflow Site Layout Problem in Chrome

  I was cleaning up one of my questions here and noticed that Stack Overflow's comments were overflowing into the right column in Chrome. The question is, what's the difference in CSS handling between Chrome and Firefox. I don't have access to Safari, Opera, et al. Can someone tell me in which browsers the error manifests? Is it just me? Here's the layout error: (my apologies to Tim Down for covering up his name with my comment bubble) Since I have no natural skill for good layouts and the whole process makes me sad, I wonder if someone can diagnose the error on StackOverflow and make a recommendation on how to avoid it. Is this a consequence of embedding a div inside a td? Plus I admit it. It's fun to point out an error on one of the greatest sites ever.
