I'm well aware with the advanced features of MAMP Pro I can change to different types of Hosts, but I wanted to know why my previous method would not work within mavericks. This was my usual working method in 10.8, but now with 10.9 it's a headache. The previous method would: Write a custom address with the host address: "#Virtual Hosts" 127.0.0.1 nameofsite.local go to /Applications/MAMP/conf/apache and open the httpd.conf file, scroll to the bottom and then add NameVirtualHost * DocumentRoot "/Applications/MAMP/htdocs" ServerName localhost DocumentRoot "/Users/Klimt/Sites/siteoffolder" ServerName clientA.local make sure the ports is set to 80, 443, 3306. reset MAMP PRO and then usually type in the url address and it's gold from there. any help?

  • Windows 7 & Photoshop CS5.1 - "Fonts missing" issue - I have the font!! (sort of)

    I've noticed a really aggravating issue with Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 on at least two occasions. I downloaded a layered PSD file to work with, in the release notes it directed me to a download page for all of the font used, which was Futura Medium Condensed. I chcked and did not have any Futura fonts at all. So I downloaded and installed the font from the source provided by the provider of the PSD. I closed and reopened Photoshop and when I open the PSD file I get an error saying: Some text layers contain fonts that are missing. These layers will need to have the missing fonts replaced before they can be used for vector based output. I then go to edit the text layer and receive: The following fonts are missing for text layer "discount" Future CondensedExtraBold Font substitution will occur. Continue? If I click OK, it substitutes Myriad Pro for this layer. Didn't I download the right font? I go into the font dropdown and see I have a font with a slightly different name "Futura-CondensedExtraBold-Th Regular" I have also seen this issue with Helvetica. I have received a PSD file, same "some text layers contain fonts that are missing These..." error dialog when I open up the file - and when I go to edit a layer with text I get: The following fonts are missing for text layer "Home": Helvetica Font substitution will occur. Continue? I click continue - it substitutes Myriad Pro - and check my font list and sure enough I have a bunch of Helvetica fonts, none exactly named "Helvetica" Is this a common issue? Googling it yielded a few people with similar problems (I think all on Macs) but either no concrete help or no response. Is it that the two font names aren't EXACT matches? If that is the case is there any way of setting up Photoshop to more intelligently substitute or even set up some sort of mapping (if "Helvetica" then substitute "Helvetica Lt Std" ? Is there anything else, maybe something that I am not thinking of?

    I am using Adobe Photoshop CS4 to edit a picture. The problems I have are that I don't know where I can see the mouse cursor coordinate while I move my mouse. Q1 For example, in Paint.Net, whenever I move mouse cursor, I can immediately see the feedback from bottom-right corner (x, y), how can I see such info in photoshop while I use eyedropper function? Q2 For example, when in crop mode, I drag-drop a rectangle but I cannot see the size of the created region of interest? Thank you

    At the company I work at, an employee was let go. His laptop was a company laptop with Photoshop CS3 installed on it. Photoshop was deactivated so it could be installed on another computer. The license was bought online and emailed to someone, however, that computer crashed and the email with the license is lost. Is there a way to recover the license from the laptop? Are we better off contacting Adobe's customer support?

  • Exporting to PNG from Adobe Illustrator cutting off edges

    I created a 40px x 40px image in Adobe Illustrator CS4. I saved as an .ai file and then tried to export as a PNG. Adobe Illustrator automatically crops the background and tightens the export to a rect around all the objects which if fine. In this case, I am not working edge to edge so my image is not quite 40px wide. But, unfortunately, Illustrator is not exporting the entire image. I end up with an image that is 34px wide. Indeed, the icon I draw starts on the left hand side but the right edge of my object cut off. Any ideas why this is happening? I can't imagine Illustrator CS4 can't correctly to export to PNG.

    Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to integrate the ToushSmart's virtual keyboard with an Adobe AIR application? In most programs (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc), when a user touches a text field a little keyboard icon automatically pops up which, when pressed, will bring up the virtual keyboard. However, this doesn't happen when clicking on text input fields in Adobe AIR applications. Has anyone had any experience working with AIR/Flash and touchscreens? Is there any API that can tell Windows (or the HP virtual keyboard specifically) that the user has clicked in a text field and that the virtual keyboard should be shown? The text fields are the standard kind (fl.controls.TextInput). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    I have installed Adobe Livecycle in order to convert MSWORD files to PDF from a web-app. Specifically, I use the DocConverter tool. Previously I have used OpenOffice UNO SDK, but I have found some problems with particular documents. Now, the conversion is ok, but the conversion time is huge. These are the times to convert documents of different sizes via Openoffice and via Livecycle. Could you suggest anything?     I am a Windows/Web developer by profession and I have been considering a MacBook Pro as a replacement for my current development machine. I am impressed by the build quality, the uni-body construction and performance specs of the MacBook Pro. I am specifically interested in the 13.3" MacBook Pro running Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz processor with 4 GB RAM. What I am wondering is this ... what performance can I expect running SQL Server 2008, IIS, and Visual Studio 2010 within a virtual environment (VMWare Fusion and Windows 7) on the above mentioned MacBook Pro? I like the 13.3" model as the size is more portable, but am I expecting to much from a core 2 duo processor? Would I need to look at the next step up in MacBook Pro using the core i5 processor?     I had some PDF files and just try to open it and do some highlighting using Acrobat 10 (also called Adode Reader X)... After highlighting, I save the file (using a different filename), and now the file change from 4MB to 3MB... is it just compression? Or making the images have lower clarity? (thought I cannot see any difference). What is the reason? If it is just compression, then why wasn't it done before, as winzip technology is quite mature more than even 10, 12 year ago.

    Since quite some time Adobe Technologies released the Linux version of Adobe AIR to bring web applications and widgets to your desktop. Installing new applications on a Linux system is not always as easy as switching the computer on. The following instructions might be helpful to install Adobe AIR on any Linux system. First of all, get the latest installer of Adobe AIR from http://get.adobe.com/air/ - as of writing this article the file name is AdobeAIRInstaller.bin. Save the download in your preferred folder. Now, there are two ways to run the installer - visual style or console style. Visual Installation Launch your favorite or standard file manager like thunar or nautilus and browse to the folder where the AdobeAIRInstaller.bin has been saved. Right click on the file and choose 'Properties' in the context menu Set 'Execute' permissions and confirm modifications with OK Rename file into AdobeAIRInstaller Double click and follow the instructions Using the console Open a terminal like xterm Change into the directory where you stored the download Run this command:[code]chmod +x AdobeAIRInstaller.bin[/code] Now run this command:[code]sudo ./AdobeAIRInstaller.bin[/code] The normal installer will open, install it. From now whenever you download a .air file, just double click it and it will be installed. Troubleshooting In case that the installation does not start properly, try to install via console.
