  I have a file in a folder like this: installer-x86_64-XXX.XX-diagnostic.run The XXX.XX is a version number and I need the version number only. How to do it in linux? I have this code: #!/bin/bash current_ver=$(find /mnt/builds/current -name '*.run'|awk -F/ '{print $NF}') So this gives me just the name of the file correctly (minus the location, which I dont want). But how do I only get the XXX.XX version number into a variable such as $version

• Inheriting a Base Form but Paste/Cut Commands Not Captured

  I created a base form that has a specific size and an icon as a base for all forms created in my project (to be consistent in looks). The problem is, for some reason if I add a Text box to the Child form, I can no longer execute shortcuts like Copy (CTRL+C) etc into the Textbox. What should I do to handle this OTHER THAN writing code to capture those on the KeyUp control? This is also the case for RichTextBox control as well. Thanks

What i'd like is if the chars outputted are over 20 long to display '...' or simply nothing at all. Thanks

• How do I cut and paste commands from your blog?

  At the recent ODTUG  Kscope 12 conference several people told me that they really enjoyed our blog on the Optimizer but were frustrated because they couldn’t cut and paste the commands used in the blog posts straight into their environment. Typically I use screen shots in the blog posts to make the commands clear but it does mean that it is impossible to cut and paste the commands into your environment. In order to get around this I have created a downloadable .sql script for each of our blog posts. You should now see the sentence “You can get a copy of the script I used to generate this post here”, appearing at the bottom of each blog post. Clicking on the link will open the .sql script that contains all of the commands used in the post. You can either save the entire script or just cut and paste the particular command you are interested in! I have added scripts for all of this year’s blog posts and am slowly making my way through our old posts until we have a script for everything we have posted to date. • Clipboard Copy-Paste doesn't work on Win Server 2008/Vista 64bit

  Hi, I am trying to use Clipboard API (in Delphi) to extract images from Word documents. my code works OK in Windows XP/2003 but in windows 2008 64 bit it doesn't work. in win 2008 i get an error saying that Clipboard.Formats is empty and doesn't contain any format. The image seems to be copied to the Clipboard (i can see it in the clipboard via Word) but when i try to ask the clipboard what format does he have it said it doesn't have any formats. how can i access the clipboard programmatically on win 2008/Vista? from what i know of 2008 64 bit, it might be a security issue... here is the code snippet: This is how i am trying to copy the Image to the clipboard: W.ActiveDocument.InlineShapes.Item(1).Select; // W is a word ole object W.Selection.Copy; and this is how i try to paste it. • What is the easiest way to remove the Silverlight TextBox mouse hover border?

  I want to display text in a Silverlight application so that the user can copy and paste it elsewhere (as one is used to doing on an HTML web site). If I use TextBlock, then the user cannot cut and paste. Therefore I use TextBox, but it has a default border on it. I can remove the border with BorderThickness="0" like this: <TextBox Grid.Column="1" BorderThickness="0" Text="{Binding ViewModelBindingStringsBlockHelp}"/> which works great: However, when the user hovers over the text box to select the text, another border appears: I've found purported solutions but they seem to require pages of XAML. • Formatting when copying SQL data and pasting in Excel

  I want to copy a sql result set and paste it in Excel. But the data I paste in to the spreadsheet doesn't want to recognize Excel formatting. So if I change a column to currency, it doesn't do anything. But...if I double click on a cell, THEN it applies the currency format. But only to that cell. How can I make it automatically recognize the Excel format? I must be something I'm missing. Hopefully somebody can help. :-)

• YUI Autocomplete: search after pasting?

  I'm using an auto-complete widget from YUI to implement live search as in the examples. However, it works fine when search text is typed in, but fails to work when the text is pasted into the field. Which would be the proper way to initiate an autocompletion on paste? Haven't found anything for that in the documentation... EDIT: Pasting is not Ctrl-V, it's usually "Paste" from the context-menu. YUI does react to a keypress, but doesn't if anything is pasted by the mouse.

  Wild question here. Is it possible to access the copy buffer on the web. What I mean is. Can I go into Photoshop. Select a piece of a photo. Copy that piece and paste it into some element. That something would be like a Java applet or Flash or Silverlight or anything. I am just wondering if it is possible and if someone could point me in a direction. Since a few google searches have only found where you can copy files and paste via a Java applet.

• Prevent illegal behavior to the registered user

  I am building a website in which this website will be focused on the publishing of novels. Every writers who publish their novels with us will get a royalty from us. And this royalty comes from the user or the reader who read the novel online in our website. When a user search for a novel and want to read that, they will click a link to the page which its content is that novel. The html page for each novels will have a session function that first will force them to login or register to make a payment such as with a credit-card or paypal before accessing that html page. My problem now is if the user has succesfully login and access the html page, I am afraid if the user will copy the content of the novel. Some disccussion out here How to Disable Copy Paste (Browser) have a solution to create it in Flash so that it can't be coppied-paste. But the I think, if the user who access it is a web developer like us they will try to find the path of the file from the link in the page source, and then they can steal it. For now I think it is enough I am explaining this. I hope anyone fully accept this problem (question) with a good idea to solve it.

• How do I use an internal SSD as a scratch disk for FCP X?

  I'm contemplating setting up my MacBook Air as a video editing machine. If I do this, I'll upgrade to a 256 GB SSD, and I should be able to keep around 100 GB or more free for video editing. The video files would of course be stored externally, but save purchasing some expensive Thunderbolt RAID device (which I suppose is gradually becoming more of an option), it will be slow for read/writes. How can I have a set up where I take advantage of my SSD's speed for a scratch disk/cache for FCP X, but still have the TB(s) of storage of externals? I don't want to have to be moving files constantly back and forth, this is about saving time not wasting it.

  Hello guys, I have this problem for a while and still didn't find the answer. I'm copying a specifc 10mb file to my pen-drive, from any folder on PC to any folder on the pen-drive and all i get is this: 0x80070057 The parameter is incorrect I simply cannot copy the file at all!! The pen-drive in case is my Nokia 5800, in "Mass Storage" mode. Sometimes I cannot copy a single MP3 file, 5 or 7mb. So i have to disconnect and connect again. The source file is not corrupted, the destination works fine with other files. It's just with some files. If I change to another pen-drive, works fine.

• How to retain background colors when pasting between documents in Excel

  I have a script that programatically generates excel spreadsheets - cleaning up ugly reports that are given to us from another organisation. For interests sake; I'm using PHPExcel to generate the "clean" reports. We get these reports every week for an event that happens every couple of months. The reports contain a list of attendees along with a group id that allows us to know that some attendees belong together. To help the event organisers out, I've taken the event ID and generated a unqiue color code (based on the hash of the event ID - truncated to 6 characters). This unique colour code is set as the background color of a cell in each row. This helps organisers quickly visually identify group members. Trouble is, when the organisers copy the rows from the weeks report into the master report (which contains all attendees, not just the ones that signed up this week) - all the colour-codes snap to the master template's color pallette.   I frequently want to share network paths to files with other folks on my team via email or chat. We have a lot of mapped drives here, both ones we set up ourselves and ones set up by our IT overlords. What I'd like to be able to do is to copy the full real path (not the drive letter) from Windows Explorer to send to folks. Example: I have a file in my "Q:" drive, \cartman\users\emueller, I want to send a link to file foo.doc to everyone. When I copy the file path (shift+right click, "copy as path") it gets the file name "Q:\foo.doc". This is unhelpful to others, who would like to see \cartman\users\emueller\foo.doc, obviously. In Explorer it clearly knows it - in the address bar I see "Computer - emueller (\cartman\users) (Q:) -". Is there a way to say "hey man copy that path as text with the \cartman\users\emueller not the Q: in it?" I know I could just set up mapped network locations instead of the mapped drives for the ones that I set up personally and avoid this problem, but most of the mapped drives like the "users" share come from our IT policy. I could just make a separate network location and then ignore my Q: drive but that's inconvenient (and they do it so they can move accounts across servers). Sure my emailed path might eventually break because I'm losing the drive letter indirection but that's OK with me.

There is no such problem in another sections of document. The one possibility how to display whole area of image is to use floating layout like the first image in presented screenshot.   I have a huge folder (over 6GB) with multiple sub-folders that I want to copy onto an external hard drive, however I do not want it to copy any PDF, EXE or ZIP files across to save space. Is there any software that will help me achieve this? I have looked at TeraCopy but this doesn't seem to have any filter mechanism on it. I am using Windows XP (* sigh *). *edit: found the xcopy command, will this do it? Can anyone help me with the syntax?

• Stop excel from converting copy-pasted number/text values to date

  I'm copy-pasting some data from html table into excel. But excel automatically converts some text or number values to date! When I change the format, the number is perversed, the number is something like 4112523 (excel probably interprets the cell as date and then converts to number or something like that...) There is a trick for importing CSV files, but is there any solution when you are pasting your data directly from a web browser?
