  • Windows 7: blue faces in VLC... sometimes

    There are a bunch of forum posts about this issue from the last several years but no resolution that I could find. I have the newest VLC installed on Windows 7 with the newest nvidia drivers. Suddenly, VLC plays some videos in such a way as faces are blue. When viewed in another media player, or when looking at the thumbnails, this is not an issue. Other videos are not affected. I've tried resetting VLC options, deleting the VLC folder in the AppData area, etc. I have no other color issues. Does anyone have a fix?

  • Software Center empty "No usefulness from server" "no username in config file"

    I upgraded to 12.04 LTS and ran Software Center while a few things were running, and crashed. (2 GB RAM on a Netbook.) On reboot, Ubuntu One interface would not find any programs, neither installed (to run) nor available for download. So I launched Software Center, which opens, but does nothing. I click "Close" button and get a "Force Quit?" box. So I quit. Did research, learned to run Software Center from Terminal: 2012-04-29 23:14:36,978 - softwarecenter.backend.reviews - WARNING - Could not get usefulness from server, no username in config file Then tried the below without success: Reinstallation of software center: sudo apt-get install --reinstall software-center Didn't work. Found this in a post: remove the config file for software-center then log out and back in sudo rm -rf ~/.config/software-center Didn't work. Reinstalled Software Center with Synaptic Package Manager. Still no dice! And I am a Linux newbie, so I don't know where the Dickens that config file is. Help appreciated.

Of course that poster neatly forgets to mention exactly what and how gtkglarea solved their problem, and Google is mostly devoid of information on the problem. So I come here asking for help! I would like to install fsv, but it tells me gtk-config doesn't exist. How can I fix this problem in Ubuntu 10.10? Thanks!

Is it possible to make git read another config file (for example .gitconfig in root of the repo) after reading $GIT_DIR/config? I want it as I created git command aliases in .git/config and I would prefer to store them in repo, so I can restore them when cloning and for example.

    Hello we have a Business Logic Layer which has an Email Services Class. In this class we have a method which will create an email(This part works and compiles fine). However when we try to access the app config file in order to test the method we get an error saying - Can't retrieve the app config mail settings and says all values are null when they are not.   • How do I implement page authorizaton in ASP.NET using a SQL store instead of web.config?

    For instance, the way we're doing it now is like thus: (in the web.config) <location path="somePath"> <system.web> <authorization> <allow roles="approvedRoles"/> <deny users="*"/> </authorization> </system.web> </location> And what I would like to do instead is to store this information in SQL somewhere so that we can manipulate the information more easily. But we want to keep the same functionality that having the information in web.config provides, just like we can use a SqlRoleProvider instead of hardcoding roles in the app. So in other words, if a user currently tries to goto "somePath" and they're not a member of "approvedRoles" then they get redirected back to default.aspx, and if they are a member of "approvedRoles" then they get the page. I want to do the same thing, but without using web.config as the authorization mechanism. So what I'm NOT asking is how do I go about defining roles, or how do I handle logging in to the database, but specifically how do I store the above information in SQL instead of web.config. Actually, I'll take "anywhere but web.config" for now. Any ideas? Is this possible using a "Provider" class? I'm just looking for pointers on what to inherit and maybe some technet documentation. In this regard my googlefoo is lacking since I don't really know where to point. Am I really only looking for AzMan? Is this location-authorization-via-SQL already defined in the default aspnetdb somewhere and I'm missing it? For that matter, has this question already been asked on SO and I've missed it? What would you google?

  • How do I set a single virtual directory of my web app to not inherit web.config?

    I have a virtual directory setup in one of my web apps that needs to not inherit the web.config of the main app so it can run on it's own. I am wondering how I can do this because right now when I hit it (mainwebapp.domain.com/virdir) it throws an error saying it can't find some dependencies that are listed in the main apps web.config (shows main app web.config in the error message), this virdir contains it's own little app that needs to just run standalone.

  • Clean install of IIS 6 on Windows Server 2003 ignoring 'web.config'?

    Hi, Any help with this would be really appreciated! As the title suggests, I'm running a brand new install of Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6 and I'm basically attempting to mirror a live web server onto a new internal development server, which runs the same setup. It's an ASP.NET site that relies heavily on URL rewriting (using Intelligencia). ASP.NET is set to run on v2.0.50727 on both servers. I've tried intentionally introduce syntax errors into the web.config and it just appears to be ignoring them completely, so given IIS 6 doesn't read the web.config, the rest of the site doesn't work at all (I get a 404 error, as a 'Default.aspx' doesn't exist since the web.config handles the default page rewriting). Having looked at the Application Mapping, '.config' files are set to use the default 'c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll' which exists. Is there anything else I may be missing? Thanks in advance.

    On a plain Ubuntu installation (12.04 in my case) when I have no ~/.vimrc VIM does not detect syntax of .ssh/config. Syntax highlighting works, but it does not set the correct filetype. vi ~/.ssh/config :set syn? >syntax=conf When I do: set syn=sshconfig Then the syntax highlighting is as it should be. Why isn't the filetype automatically identified? And how can it be set automatically?

  • Codeigniter return config file as array with autoload enabled

    So I'm using CodeIgniter to build a website and I've made it so that all my specific settings are stored in a config file that's automatically loaded. I've also built a page that loads the settings file, makes a nice little table and allows me to edit everything from that page, afterwards it saves the entire page again (I know I could've done the same with a database but I want to try it this way). My problem is that I can't seem to use this bit when autoloading of my config file is enabled, but when I disable autoloading I can't seem to manually load it, it never finds my variables.   • spring faces without spring flow

    I'm starting a new JSF (2) project. I realize that pure JSF has some limitation and I'm planning to drop in spring. JSF is a relatively new approach in spring (there is not even a tag spring-faces in stackoverflow :-) ), jsp being the classic way. I need the best available adjustment of the technology stack. 1) do i need to use spring web flow too? 2) is it viable to use just spring faces (that seems to come as a part of web flow) + spring mvc+ JPA? 3) is there any good example of such a configuration?

    I now understand that the following code will not work because I'm assigning window.onload to the result of the function, not the function itself. But if I remove the parens, I suspect that I have to explicitly call a separate function to process the config before the onload.   • Directly editing IIS 7 applicationHost.config configuration file

    I know that IIS 7+ now uses XML config files instead of the metabase. I also know that if I edit a web.config file for a given site, IIS automagically detects the changes and implements any corresponding config changes. However, does this also apply to the server-level applicationHost.config settings file? (Its usually located in C:\windows\system32\inetsrv\config.) Specifically, is it safe to carefully edit this file instead of using IIS Manager or the appcmd command line utility? I couldn't find anything in the documentation that said it was okay or not okay to do this. I'm curious because I have to change the bindings for numerous sites from one IP to another. It would be much faster to simply do a global search and replace for the IP address in the config file instead of manually editing a few dozen sites in the GUI.

Firstly, this question may have been already asked, but I searched ServerFault during about 15 minutes without finding it, so, if it was already asked, please accept my apologies. I'm trying to rationalize my Nginx server config, but I have a rather dumb question that I couldn't solve, even with extensive Web search, except if I totally f*cked my search. Here is the question : is try_files parsed before or after rewrite ? Asked differently, Do I have to put try_files after all rewrite directives, or is Nginx config parser smart enough to evaluate try_files after all relevant rewrite directives ? The link with the config rationalization is that the answer to this question will change the organisation of the config, ie if config file order of try_files and rewrite changes the config behaviour, it will force me to disperse my includes, some of them containing try_files and other ones containing rewrite, because I also have rewrite directly in nginx.conf.     I'm trying to use a free service using the OpenVPN protocol using OpenVPN's GUI module in the network manager. The config worked perfectly well as .ovpn on Windows. The behavior in Windows is such that I ran OpenVPN GUI and chose to connect to this particular VPN. It would then show the activity in the attempt to connect and opens a dialog box for username/password authentication. I've successfully imported all the configurations by changing the file type to .conf and using the import feature in network manager. However, attempting to connect would simply display the network manager's attempting to connect animation, but ultimately end with a notification of connection timing out. I have no deeper folder magento, I placed all files directly in the wwwroot folder, so: wwwroot\app wwwroot\downloader wwwroot\errors wwwroot\includes etc...
