  • Unindex google code svn repository content from google index

    - by matcheek
    I developed a small web site and saved the code to google code repository. Everything has been running smoothly for a while until results from google code svn repository started showing up before the results from the actual website. Is there any way I could stop google from indexing google code repository content or at least make its rank lower than the web site? I am not talking sophisticated seo techniques but rather some simple settings if there are any.

  • Using Google Talk with a non-apps, non-gmail Google account

    - by rymo
    I created a Google account with an existing e-mail address from a domain that is NOT hosted by Google. This address is not on an Apps domain and has no gmail service of any kind. Still I am able to add it as a Google account on an Android device with no problem. If the device is running Jelly Bean (where the Google Talk app allows switching between accounts) I can sign in and chat works fine. I can also sign into Talk with this account via the iGoogle home page. Now how can I use this account with a standalone chat client like iChat, Pidgin, or Empathy? It doesn't seem to work with login ID [email protected] using SSL to connect to server talk.google.com (tried ports 5222 and 5223). Are iGoogle and Android doing something magical that no other Jabber client is allowed, or am I just missing a step?

  • How to switch between views in android?

    - by aurezza
    I've tried several methods to switch between two views in my program. I've tried creating a new thread then have the view run for 5 seconds before creating intent to start my main activity. This is the code snippet from the said view class: mHelpThread = new Thread(){ @Override public void run(){ try { synchronized(this){ // Wait given period of time or exit on touch wait(5000); } } catch(InterruptedException ex){ } finish(); // Run next activity Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_MAIN, null); intent.addCategory(Intent.CATEGORY_HOME); startActivity(intent); //stop(); } }; mHelpThread.start(); I can access the said view without error but it doesn't disappear after 5 seconds nor did it switched to main view when I even utilized an onTouchEvent() to detect touch on the screen of which it should have automatically closed. I've also tried adding a button on the said view to manually switch to main view: @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.help); final HelpView helpView = this; final Button btnback = (Button) findViewById(R.id.back); btnback.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener(){ public void onClick(View v) { Intent intent = new Intent(helpView, MainActivity.class); startActivity(intent); } }); } These codes worked, though, for creating a launcher for my program. So I thought that it would work the same if I added an option for help/rules(for the game) that would switch to another view. I've only since started using eclipse for android so pardon my lack of knowledge. Here is also the snippet from my manifest: <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="11" android:targetSdkVersion="15" /> <application android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@style/AppTheme" > <activity android:name="MainActivity" android:label="@string/title_activity_main"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT"/> </intent-filter> <intent-filter></intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name="SplashScreen" android:theme="@style/Theme.Transparent"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN"/> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER"/> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name="HelpView" android:theme="@style/Theme.Transparent"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN"/> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT"/> </intent-filter> <intent-filter></intent-filter> </activity> </application>

  • Merge two different API calls into One

    - by dhilipsiva
    I have two different apps in my django project. One is "comment" and an other one is "files". A comment might save some file attached to it. The current way of creating a comment with attachments is by making two API calls. First one creates an actual comment and replies with the comment ID which serves as foreign key for the Files. Then for each file, a new request is made with the comment ID. Please note that file is a generic app, that can be used with other apps too. What is the cleanest way of making this into one API call? I want to have this as a single API call because I am in a situation where I need to send user an email with all the files as attachment when a comment is made. I know Queueing is the ideal way to do it. But I don't have the liberty to add queing to our stack now. So this was the only way I could think of.

  • Toggling on/off Markers in Google Maps API v3

    - by Douglas
    I'm having trouble getting the setMap(null); function that everyone seems to be recommending to work. I believe it may be a problem with the way I've implemented the markers. If someone could take a look and let me know if you see something wrong I'd greatly appreciate it. LINK: http://www.dougglover.com/samples/UOITMap/v2/

  • Android 2.1 GoogleMaps ItemizedOverlay ConcurrentModificationException

    - by Soumya Simanta
    Hi, I cannot figure out the origin of the ConcurrentModificationException. In my activity I'm calling updateMapOverlay(). I'm also calling updateMapOverlay() inside another Thread (a TimerTask) that is invoked on regular intervals. I'm taking the appropriate locks when invoking updateMapOverlay() from both the threads. Is this problem being caused because I'm invoking updateMapOverlay from inside a non-UI thread (i.e., TimerTask). Has anyone else faced a similar issue ? private void updateMapOverlay() { this.itemizedOverlay.refreshItems(createOverlayItemsList()); List<Overlay> overlays = mapView.getOverlays(); overlays.clear(); overlays.add(cotItemizedOverlay); this.mapview.invalidate(); } Thanks. • Android 2.2 AVD: no Quick Search Box?

    - by Felix
    I have recently updated my Android SDK to include support for Android 2.2 (API level 8). The app that I'm building integrates with the Quick Search Box (QSB) home screen widget, which I can't seem to find in this version (using both vanilla 2.2 and the Google APIs version). I was kind of excited when they announced that they have improved its functionality, but it seems there's no way for me to observe it. Is this normal? Are others experiencing the same issue? Or is this somehow related to my setup (running Archlinux and installed the Android SDK from the repositories).

  • How to make an Android UI with images from a designer delivered as layers

    - by Not Me
    I hired a designer to help me redesign the UI for my Android app. For each Activity he gave me an image for the background, which includes any static content like fancy frames for text content; plus images for the buttons, which must fit in to the background image in exact places, to fit into the frames in the background image. However, since Android devices have different screen sizes and aspect ratios, it's easy to fit the background image by itself with android:scaleType="centerInside", but how can I get all the other images to fit in with background exactly, to the pixel? If they didn't have to fit in with the background, I would just set the exact width and height for each ImageButton, but depending on how the background scales (based on the screen size and ratio) they might end up not aligned correctly. Thank you very much in advance.

  • Android RadioButton like Behaviour

    - by monxalo
    Greetings, I'm trying to create a single-choice android control, in a horizontal layout, by making use of the RadioGroup behaviour. I can assign the drawable just fine, but i would like to position the label of each RadioButton inside the drawable, is this possible using the standard APIs? <RadioGroup android:id="@+id/switchcontainer" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="horizontal" android:checkedButton="@+id/RadioButton02" android:padding="3dip"> <RadioButton android:text="id RadioButton02" android:id="@+id/RadioButton02" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:button="@drawable/radio_button" android:paddingRight="2dip" /> <RadioButton android:text="@+id/RadioButton03" android:id="@+id/RadioButton03" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:button="@drawable/radio_button" android:paddingRight="2dip" />> </RadioGroup>

  • Random strange behaviour on Google Maps v2

    - by fesja
    hi, I'm having a particular fight with Google Maps v2 on Chrome. The map is shown well on all browsers except Chrome, that without any particular reason, it does any of these things as you can see on the image: Moving the center to the south Showing the markers to the right, but if i move the map, they moved too to the next section of the map. Perfect I have the following javascript: if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) { var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map")); var bounds = new GLatLngBounds(); map.enableScrollWheelZoom(); map.addControl(new GSmallMapControl()); map.addControl(new GMapTypeControl()); map.removeMapType(G_HYBRID_MAP); var zoomout = 1; var pcenter_0 = new GLatLng(40.420300, -3.705770); var marker_0 = new GMarker(pcenter_0, {draggable: false}); map.addOverlay(marker_0); marker_0.bindInfoWindowHtml('info', {pixelOffset:new GSize(32,5), maxWidth:200} ); bounds.extend(marker_0.getPoint()); var pcenter_1 = new GLatLng(41.385719, 2.170050); var marker_1 = new GMarker(pcenter_1, {draggable: false}); map.addOverlay(marker_1); marker_1.bindInfoWindowHtml('', {pixelOffset:new GSize(32,5), maxWidth:200} ); bounds.extend(marker_1.getPoint()); var pcenter_2 = new GLatLng(48.856918, 2.341210); var marker_2 = new GMarker(pcenter_2, {draggable: false}); map.addOverlay(marker_2); marker_2.bindInfoWindowHtml('info', {pixelOffset:new GSize(32,5), maxWidth:200} ); bounds.extend(marker_2.getPoint()); var pcenter_3 = new GLatLng(37.779160, -122.420052); var marker_3 = new GMarker(pcenter_3, {draggable: false}); map.addOverlay(marker_3); marker_3.bindInfoWindowHtml('', {pixelOffset:new GSize(32,5), maxWidth:200} ); bounds.extend(marker_3.getPoint()); var pcenter_4 = new GLatLng(48.202541, 16.368799); var marker_4 = new GMarker(pcenter_4, {draggable: false}); map.addOverlay(marker_4); marker_4.bindInfoWindowHtml('', {pixelOffset:new GSize(32,5), maxWidth:200} ); bounds.extend(marker_4.getPoint()); zoomToBounds(zoomout); } function zoomToBounds(zoomout) { map.setCenter(bounds.getCenter()); var zoom = map.getBoundsZoomLevel(bounds)-zoomout; if(zoom < 1) zoom = 1; map.setZoom(zoom); map.checkResizeAndCenter(); } Do you have any idea or clue of what can be happening? It's very annoying to have this random javascript errors.. If you need more info, please ask! thanks!   • Remove Google+ company page after verification?

    - by JohnJ
    My personal Google+ page has a lot of comments and posts that I'd like to keep. However, I've only just finished validating the business page as well (Google+ company page) in the hopes of improving traffic. Now that it's been validated, can I remove the Google+ Company link and switch it back to my original personal Google+ page? Scenario: My client is an accountant (one man shop) and so both personal and company Google+ pages would work.

  • fitbounds() in Google maps api V3 does not fit bounds

    - by jul
    hi, I'm using the geocoder from Google API v3 to display a map of a country. I get the recommended viewport for the country but when I want to fit the map to this viewport, it does not work (see the bounds before and after calling the fitBounds function in the code below). What am I doing wrong? How can I set the viewport of my map to results[0].geometry.viewport? thanks jul var geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder(); if(geocoder) { geocoder.geocode({'address': '{{countrycode}}'}, function(results, status) { var bounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds(); bounds = results[0].geometry.viewport; console.log(bounds); //((35.173, -12.524), (45.244, 5.098)) console.log(map.getBounds()); //((34.628757195038844, -14.683750000000012), (58.28355197864712, 27.503749999999986)) map.fitBounds(bounds); console.log(map.getBounds()); //((25.740113512090183, -24.806750000000005), (52.44233664523719, 17.380749999999974)) }); } }

  • Sharing a file from Android to Gmail or to Dropbox

    - by Calaf
    To share a simple text file, I started by copying verbatim from FileProvider's manual page: <application android:allowBackup="true" android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@style/AppTheme" > <provider android:name="android.support.v4.content.FileProvider" android:authorities="com.mycorp.helloworldtxtfileprovider.MainActivity" android:exported="false" android:grantUriPermissions="true" > <meta-data android:name="android.support.FILE_PROVIDER_PATHS" android:resource="@xml/my_paths" /> </provider> <activity android:name="com.mycorp.helloworldtxtfileprovider.MainActivity" ... Then I saved a text file and used, again nearly verbatim, the code under Sending binary content. (Notice that this applies more accurately in this case than "Sending text content" since we are sending a file, which happens to be a text file, rather than just a string of text.) For the convenience of duplication on your side, and since the code is in any case so brief, I'm including it here in full. public class MainActivity extends Activity { @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); String filename = "hellow.txt"; String fileContents = "Hello, World!\n"; byte[] bytes = fileContents.getBytes(); FileOutputStream fos = null; try { fos = this.openFileOutput(filename, MODE_PRIVATE); fos.write(bytes); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { try { fos.close(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } File file = new File(filename); Intent shareIntent = new Intent(); shareIntent.setAction(Intent.ACTION_SEND); shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, Uri.fromFile(file)); shareIntent.setType("application/txt"); startActivity(Intent.createChooser(shareIntent, getResources().getText(R.string.send_to))); file.delete(); } } Aside from adding a value for send_to in res/values/strings.xml, the only other change I did to the generic Hello, World that Eclipse creates is to add the following in res/xml/my_paths.xml (as described on the page previously referenced. <paths xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <Files-path name="files" path="." /> </paths> This code runs fine. It shows a list of intent recipients. But sending the text file to either Dropbox or to Gmail fails. Dropbox sends the notification "Uploading to Dropbox" followed by "Upload failed: my_file.txt". After "sending message.." Gmail sends "Couldn't send attachment". What is wrong?

  • Google Maps: openInfoWindowTabsHtml + GDownloadUrl (Ajax call) question

    - by Spiros
    I am facing the following problem. On an Google Map I want to add info windows with tabs, where content is loaded from an external file using the GDownloadUrl method. The code works about fine, but with two problems. a) The first time I click on a marker, nothing hapens. I need to click twice to get an info box. After that it works ok. b) When I close an info box and open it again, the tabs repeat themselves. Every time I reopen the info box, those tabs get repeated. So, if using the code below and open the info box 3 times, I get 6 tabs (Info, Photos, Info, Photos, Info, Photos). Any idea of what I am doing wrong here? I have also tried this with JQuery's $.get method, but the results are exactly the same. function createREMarker(lat,long,reID) { var reMarker = new GMarker(rePoint,iconRE); GEvent.addListener(reMarker, "click", function() { GDownloadUrl('testcontent.php?reID='+reID+'&what=info', function(data) { content1 = data; }); GDownloadUrl('testcontent.php?reID='+reID+'&what=photos', function(data) { content2 = data; }); tabs.push(new GInfoWindowTab('Info', '<div id="mapOverlayContent" style="width:375px; height:220px; overflow:auto;">'+content1+'</div>')); tabs.push(new GInfoWindowTab('Photos', '<div id="mapOverlayContent" style="width:375px; height:220px; overflow:auto;">'+content2+'</div>')); reMarker.openInfoWindowTabsHtml(tabs); }); return reMarker; };

  • GoogleTv video using VideoView is clipped, even though its in a separate layout of its own

    - by MYR
    Wrote an application for GoogleTV box to play a video. The video is a separate activity to the main activity. Wired up a button on my main layout/activity to to start the video activity up (using its own video.xml layout), the video activity loads and starts playing, but the video is clipped, only showing a few centimetres of the bottom. The clipped region looks like the views that occupied the previous layout (main.xml) . The intriguing thing is that if I push the back button, before returning to the main activity the full video frame is shown. Not sure what I am doing wrong here. Any suggestions welcome. • Google Maps Controls panel size is displayed wrong

    - by Andrea Giachetto
    I have a weird problem with Google Maps Control. I've tested in a blank page my custom maps with custom markers and everything seems to be ok, also with the control panel. When I tried to import all my code in the page I'm working with ( I use a full screen fluid grid system ) the control panel is displayed with strange size. I tried everything for disable/enable the ui of the Google Maps but the problem remain. The code of my maps are exactly the same, both in my blank page and in my site, but in the site the ui control panel is displayed very strange.
