  • Perl: Negative look behind regex question [migrated]

    The Perlre in Perldoc didn't go into much detail on negative look around but I tried testing it, and didn't work as expected.     In a prototype I am doing, there is a minigame similar to bejeweled. Using a grid that is a 2d array (int[,]) how can I go about know when the user formed a match? I only care about horizontally and vertically. Off the top of my head I was thinking I would just look each direction. Something like: int item = grid[x,y]; if(grid[x-1,y]==item) { int step=x; int matches =2; while(grid[step-1,y]==item) { step++; matches++ } if(matches>2) //remove all matching items } else if(grid[x+1,y]==item //.... else if(grid[x,y-1==item) //... else if(grid[x,y+1]==item) //...       We have found that it is necessary in Demantra to have an index that matches the partition key, although it does not have to be the PK.  It is ok   to create a new index instead of changing the PK.   For example, if my PK on SALES_DATA is (ITEM_ID, LOCATION_ID, SALES_DATE) and I decide partition by SALES_DATE, then I should add an index starting   with the partition key like this: (SALES_DATE, ITEM_ID, LOCATION_ID).   * Note that the first column of the new index matches the partition key.   It might also be helpful to create a 2nd index with the other PK columns reversed (SALES_DATE, LOCATION_ID, ITEM_ID). Again, the first column   matches the partition key.

This helps in eliminating a lot of possible partial matches. For example, if I go sequentially like M A as in Boyer Moore's method ... it can match Matter, Mass, Matchstick etc. using M _ _ H will bring down size of partial matches.     I'm attempting to find the best methodology for finding a specific pattern and then replace the ending portion of the pattern. Here is a quick example (in C#): //Find any year value starting with a bracket or underscore string patternToFind = "[[_]2007"; Regex yearFind = new Regex(patternToFind); //I want to change any of these values to x2008 where x is the bracket or underscore originally in the text. I was trying to use Regex.Replace(), but cannot figure out if it can be applied.     I'm trying to match a pattern into a string in XSLT/XPath using the matches function, as follows: <xsl:when test="matches('awesome','awe')"> ... </xsl:when> However, in both Firefox 3.5.9 and IE8, it doesn't show up. IE8 tells me that "'matches' is not a valid XSLT or XPath function." Is this due to XSLT 2.0 not being supported, and is there a way around this?

    Hi I want to be able to tore some information in core data and but i am unsure of how to check if the file was saved properly. I tried using NSLog but it returns null when its called. I have a dictionary which has a uniqueID and a title which I want to save. I pass this in along with the context of the database. There isn't any special about the Firefox we used. It's a plain Jane 1252 code page download right off the Firefox site. The computer's local settings are unaltered North American, etc. We have two different computers showing the same effects. It's Firefox 3.6.4, nothing fancy or beta.

  • Extending / changing how Zend_Search_Lucene searches

    Hi, I am currently using Zend_Search_Lucene to index and search a number of documents currently at around a 1000 or so. What I would like to do is change how the engine scores hits on a document, from the current default. Zend_Search_Lucene scores on the frequency of number of hits within a document, so a document that has 10 matches of the word PHP will score higher than a document with only 3 matches of PHP. What I am trying to do is pass a number of key words and score depending on the hits of those keywords. e.g. I pass 5 key words say,PHP, MySQL, Javascript, HTML and CSS that I search against the index. One document has 3 matches to those key words and one document has all 4 matches, the 4 matches scores the highest. The number of instances of those words in the document do not concern me. Now I've had a quick look at Zend_Search_Lucene_Search_Similarity however I have to confess that I am not sure (or that bright) to know how to use this to achieve what I am after. Is what I want to do possible using Lucene or is there a better solution out there?

    Simple question: What is the pattern for the word character \w in c#, .net? My first thought was that it matches [A-Za-z0-9_] and the documentation tells me: Character class Description Pattern Matches \w Matches any \w "I", "D", "A", "1", "3" word character. in "ID A1.3" which is not very helpful. And \w seems to match äöü, too. What else? Is there a better (exact) definition available?
