• IntelliJ: Including jars in a jar artifact

  Developing on the Mac with IntelliJ 9.0.2. I have a program which depends on two library jars. I have figured out how to get IntelliJ to make me a jar of my source (with the Artifact tab), and even to include the two jars in it. However, if I get a listing of the jar file it produces, it looks like this: com/acme/MyClass1.class com/acme/MyClass2.class ... mylib1.jar myLib2.jar And, no surprises, if I double-click the jar file, it gets a NoClassDefFoundError the first time it tries to access a class in one or other library jar. How do I get IntelliJ to include the two library jars such that the classes are visible?

• Apache loads any file that begins with the same string as used in url. How to prevent this?

  If I point to: mywebsite.com/search and there is a file called search.php or search.html or search.inc.php or search.whatthehell.php in website's directory, Apache will point to that file instead of 404'ing. What is even more annoying is that if I point to: mywebsite.com/search/string?also=whatever Apache will still display any file with filename that begins with "search.". Also, all RewriteRules with patterns containing filenames existing in directory are ignored/useless. I'm using Apache 2 on Mac, unmodified httpd.conf. How do I prevent it from redirecting my urls so freely?

• JDBC ODBC bridge for Mac OSX

  Hi, I am having a hard time establishing a connection to my database file using JDBC-ODBC bridge. The driver I am using is sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver but I believe it is not present on Mac OSX by default and hence throws an exception for class not found. I googled for the driver but could not find much useful information. Can somebody please help me establish the connection? Or send me any link which contains information I am looking for? Thanks,

• OS X Dock API? Retrieve OS X active application's icon with badges and other modifications.

  Is there an API for retrieving the icons of the currently open apps on Mac OS X? I am trying to retrieve all the icons of the active applications along with any badges on top of the application (i.e. number of new messages in mail, or current download rate in Transmission). Is there some sort of Dock API? The only mention of an OSX API for retrieving information about currently active applications I have been able to find is the Process Manager API, which does not mention the ability to poll the dock or retrieve icon data.

  Hi! Can someone explain to me(not a rocket scientist) all the steps for installing XAMPP for a EC2 instance running Linux? And yes I have look the entire web and found nothing, except this "Deploying a lamp stack" and this "Starting Amazon EC2 with Mac OS X". I found the latter one more useful, but as a said I'm not a rocket scientist. I got stuck in to the latter link where I should edit the file .bash_profile with a text editor. I tried the "vi" in SSH, but why can't I open it on textEditor included in all Macs? Is there any easier way to setting up a XAMPP server for a linux server in EC2?

• Cycling tabs graphically

  Mac OS X's window manager is composed of: Applications Windows Tabs By default on OS X, you can cycle over applications with the famous ?? shortcut. In addition to this, I use a little utility called Witch which enables cycling (graphically) over windows too(I've defined it on ??). Unfortunately, it does not currently support tabs cycling... Would you have any suggestion for this? I know I already can ^? for this, but I'm looking for a graphical utility where you are not blind during cycling. Thank you.

  Hello, I really would like to write an app or apps for iPhone / iPad. I've never done this so far because most of my work has been in windows environment. I recently got an i7 with windows 7 and love it, and this is what I am using to do development on currently. I would love to try out writing a simple App on a mac for either an iPhone or iPad. The question I had was are there any developers using a macbook to do windows based programming as well as writing apps? And what is their setups like? (example: using bootcamp) Most importantly, is it recommended based on the experience they had doing so? any problems / performance issue? • Cocoa Screensaver Framework error message

  Hi, I'm trying to make a screen saver using the cocoa screensaver framework. The project builds fine and generates the .saver file, but when I try to run it in the preferences test window, it displays the error message: "You cannot use the screen saver with this version of Mac OSX. Please contact the vendor to get a newer version of the screen saver" I have the xcode settings to Release | x86_64, and I am running OSX 10.6.6 on a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 Macbook Pro. I've searched around online, and most of the solutions to this error message seem addressed to making sure the build is 64-bit, which the x86_64 setting should indeed take care of. I am trying to play a QT movie in the screensaver, if that makes any difference. I am at a loss, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Unfortunately, the resulting file is not identical to the archive created by the zip command (with the default options). This distinction matters to at least one service operated by Apple, which fails to accept archives created with the zip command. I get some examples from the matplotlib gallery like this one, without modification: http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/examples/api/unicode_minus.html I run it, get no error, but the picture does not show up.   Say I carry a Wi-Fi enabled phone or laptop through an area where there are WAPs. Assuming that I don't actively try to connect to them or otherwise interact with them, is it possible for the owner of that WAP to know that I was there? I'm asking this in the context of my earlier question: Looking for MACs on the network I was talking with a friend about my newfound ability to detect phones (and other devices with MAC addresses) on the network, and he pointed out that it might be useful to detect unknown phones on the network; I could use that data to track down anyone who was in my house and brought a Wi-Fi phone with them. So, if I set up a logging fake WAP with no security or encryption, can I glean any useful information about the devices that come into the house? Assuming that the thief doesn't actively try to connect...

So it's my understanding that I have to edit it via code. • Editable CATextLayer?

  I have several CATextLayers. When I doubleclick one of them, I want to be able to edit it's string. Think of text as it's handled in Keynote or many other apps. Any ideas? I thought of putting an editable textfield right in front of the layer and then dismiss it on enter, but I didn't get far. :-( I target Mac OS X 10.5 with Objective-C 2.0 and Garbage Collection. • SharePoint Designer for Mac?

  I'm looking for some way of editing SharePoint ASPX pages on my Mac, using either a local text editor or some kind of remote-into-the-SP-server solution (like emacs with tramp). I know that Cyberduck has the ability to open WebDAV servers with NTLM authentication, but I've been unable to get that to work. So far, the only solution I've found is to use a remote desktop connection to a Windows Server, and run SharePoint Designer from there. Anyone know of either a better method, or a SharePoint Designer alternative?
