• Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error when viewing JPEG files in Explorer

  I am getting the following error each time I view JPG files in the windows explorer in Detailed view. Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Assertion failed! Program: C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE File: multimedia\photos\metadatahandler\util.cpp Line: 4706 Expression: MinutesFraction < 1.0 For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts (Press Retry to debug the application - JIT must be enabled) These pictures were taken from a Nikon Coolpix AW110 camera. I think it is related to some EXIF data that is a date/time. I have tried reinstalling the Visual C++ 2013 and 2008 Run time library and restarting and the problem is still there. • CentOS/Apache killing connections

  Getting a really strange error. Basically, whenever I browse to my server (http://[ip_address] or http://[hostname]), it doesn't load, and my active SSH connection drops out. I installed CentOS 5.5, and then httpd and PHP 5.3. No other applications where installed, so I can't imagine it's something else causing it. I also reinstalled CentOS 5.5 again, completely fresh, the only thing I did to it was yum install httpd, and it still caused this issue. I've changed nothing in the config or anything else. Driving me mad, has anyone heard of this? It's really frustrating since everytime I attempt to debug this issue, I get kicked off SSH and have to log back in. Theres nothing in the Apache error logs, and nothing in the access log recording my attempt. • How do I recover tab cycling in Terminal.app?

  Today I've noticed that Cmd+} has stopped working for me in Snow Leopard's Terminal.app as a shortcut to cycle to the next tab. Cmd+{ still works. I've gone to the Preferences-keyboard shortcuts and when I try to create a new shortcut pressing Cmd+} I get Cmd+alt+Ç in the window. I get Cmd+alt+´ when pressing Cmd+{ (I'm on a Spanish macbook pro). I've also noticed that I cannot create a custom shortcut for Terminal.app, because it is not in the list of applications I can create shortcuts for, and neither can I add it to the list. How can I debug what is "eating" the cycle right tab shortcut key? I've got sizzling keys plugin, keyboard remapper (for the esc/capslock key) but I've tried disabling them and still didn't recover the terminal shortcut.

  I am using ipsec-tools/racoon to create my VPN. I am using racoon-tool to configure racoon.conf but when I run racoon-tool reload it only generates the first section - Global items.   This is more or less the inverse of my previous question. I need to debug some HTTP requests that I am making. Since these requests arise from the use of some external libraries, sometimes I am not sure of what is the actual data I am sending. Is there some dummy server (for Linux) that accepts HTTP requests and just prints them somewhere so that I can inspect them?   I've seen many examples of SSH tunnels on the nets, but I'm still having no luck with this. Here's the setup: Windows 7 PC in a private network, sitting behind a firewall, with PowerShellInsider SSH server set up and working fine. Public access Linux server, which has access to the PC. Windows 7 laptop, at home, from which I wish to do remote desktop on the PC. Now, here's what I've tried so far: SSH tunnel from my laptop to the Linux server: ssh -f my_user@LINUX_SERVER -L 6666:LINUX_SERVER_IP:6666 -N SSH to the Linux server where I've set up a tunnel to the PC: ssh -f 'PRIVATE_DOMAIN\my_user'@PC_NAME -L 6666:PC_IP:3389 -N Unfortunately, I must be doing something wrong, because it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas why or, at least, any suggestions on how can I try to debug this setup? At the moment, I have access to all 3 machines (non-root on Linux), so I can test whatever I want...

• Emacs doesn't load gui.

  Hi, whenever I run emacs or emacs23 on terminal I just get the following output: ** (emacs:2620): CRITICAL **: menu_proxy_module_load: assertion `dbusproxy != NULL' failed And the gui doesn't load, and emacs' window never opens. The emacs process doesn't actually crash (the terminal stays busy, and I can see the emacs23 process running with ps -e). I've tried running it with the -D --debug-init arguments, but the same thing happens and the output is exactly the same. However, if I run emacs -nw it successfully runs emacs in terminal mode as if nothing were wrong. Strangely, this problem only started happening the second time I ran emacs today. The first time it worked perfectly fine. Since then, I've tried rebooting and I've tried purging the emacs installation, to no success. I haven't installed any new packages today, but I might have upgraded some, could that be the reason? Is there a way to find out which packages were installed/upgraded today? • Domain Computers Not Listed In Network

  Our network computers are all connected to a domain, and I can see them if I search the active directory (I can click 'search active directory' and then select 'computers' and then Find Now, and all of the computers will appear). However, the computers are not listed in the network browser on any of our computers (Win XP, Win7, Linux, etc) which are connected to the domain. DC is running Windows Server 2008 (Windows Server Standard) with a configured DNS and DHCP server. All of the IPs on our local network are static IPs, although I can't see how that would make a difference. I can still connect to computers on the network via \\computer_name, but I cannot browse them in 'network' or in 'my network places'. The computer browser service is not started on the DC, but I tried starting that and it had no effect. DC currently has the firewall configured as 'off' to try to debug this problem. • Kickstart virtual console: No 'Shell prompt' at Alt-F2

  I am installing Scientific Linux 6.1 via kickstart, and I am trying to debug a problem. According to Tips and tricks for anaconda and kickstart, I should have several virtual consoles available: What the different terminals display Alt-F1 The installation dialog when using text or cmdline Alt-F2 A shell prompt Alt-F3 The install log displaying messages from install program Alt-F4 The system log displaying messages from kernel, etc. Alt-F5 All other messages Alt-F7 The installation dialog when using the graphical installer The Virtual Consoles Alt-F1, F3, F4 & F5 all work and show various logging information. However, the Virtual Console at Alt-F2 does not do anything. I could really use access to the shell prompt (Alt-F2), however there is no Shell prompt available at the second virtual console (Alt-F2). All I have is a blinking '_'. Can I forge Alt-F2 to show me a shell prompt?

  I am having a strange issue with Gmail and Google Apps... have a look at this screenshot: http://cld.ly/f51ume notice the missing images for the rounded corners? Well this is not such a problem but something similar to a cache issue is causing this as well as no background image, but MOST IMPORTANTLY chat and other "clickable" features aren't working. I've already cleared my cache multiple times and quit and re-started Firefox with no change. Everything is OK in other browsers. Any other debug suggestions?

• GDM login screen is not displayed with VNC

  Hi, I set up VNC server with xinetd. Also configured GDM so that XDMCP is enabled. VNC connection seems okay, but GDM login screen is not shown. Instead I can only see old bare X screen (gray meshed background and X-shaped mouse pointer), which I can't do any interaction with it. What can I do to fix the problem? No log is written below /var/log/. • Initiate a PHP class where class name is a variable

  I need some help with an error I have not encountered before and can't seem to find anywhere. In a PHP mvc framework (just from a tutorial) I have the following: // Initiate the class $className = 'Controller_' . ucfirst($controller); if (class_exists($className)) { $controller = new $className($this->registry); } $className is showing the correct class name (case is also correct). But when I run it I get this in the apache error log (no php error) [Wed Mar 31 10:34:12 2010] [notice] child pid 987 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) Process id is different on every call. I am running PHP 5.3.0 on os x 10.6. This site seems to work on 5.2.11 on another Mac. Not really sure where to go next to debug it. I guess it could be an apache setting as much as a php bug or a problem with the code... any suggestions on where to look next?

  I'm having trouble getting iptables to log to any file. My iptables looks like: Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT 1366 packets, 433582 bytes) pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination 869 60656 LOG icmp -- venet0 * 0.0.0.0/0 0.0.0.0/0 LOG flags 0 level 7 Syslogd is the only log helper running. The default syslog.conf didn't work, so I tried adding "kern.=debug -/var/log/iptables.log". But the file already has "kern.* -/var/log/kern.log". There are recent syslog entries, so it's not a permissions thing. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04.1 with 2.6.32-042stab061.2

• Testing php mail() in localhost problem

  Hey guys, recently I just installed msmtp in linux and I even send a mail from the terminal and it worked: echo -e "Subject: Test Mail\r\n\r\nThis is a test mail" |msmtp --debug --from=default -t [email protected] But in php, after editing the php.ini file to have this: sendmail_path = '/usr/bin/msmtp -t' and using this piece of code: <?php if ( mail ( '[email protected]', 'Test mail from localhost', 'Working Fine.' ) ){ echo 'Mail sent'; } else{ echo 'Error. Please check error log.'; } ?> I get the Mail sent message but don't receive a message in my inbox. Not even in the spam folder. I need to execute a MMC Snap-in function from the Command Shell of a Windows computer. I need it to schedule this command in the same Windows PC and executes in background. • Ubuntu: move logs from /dev/tty8 to different terminal /dev/tty12 or get rid of it.

  I want to know how to move or get rid of /dev/tty8 log output in Ubuntu 9.10. /dev/tty7 is my regular X session. When I am switching user to test account where I can try and test setups and configs I am at next available console i.e. /dev/tty9 because /dev/tty8 is taken by log output. Where can I configure this ? All I've found related to /dev/tty8 is commented lines in /etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf. I changed it like that: daemon,mail.*;\ news.=crit;news.=err;news.=notice;\ *.=debug;*.=info;\ *.=notice;*.=warn /dev/tty12 And I've got nice log output on /dev/tty12 but where is configuration for log output on /dev/tty8. How can I change it?

• Gmail for Googleapps mail delivery issues

  I have a google apps domain running gmail. One of the owners of one of the email accounts is complaining that some emails don't get delivered to him. I sent him an email that did not get to its destination on one hand but I got no NDR on the other hand. I have already checked that the email was not on in his spam folder. The only thing that he has there is a forwarding rule that is also set up to leave the original in place. I am looking for any tools or ideas on how to debug this.

  I have a PowerShell script that deploys about 12 web parts. They have all been created through Visual Studio 2010 and are being deployed to SharePoint 2010. I am getting the following error when running Install-SPSolution for one of my web parts: Install-SPSolution : This solution contains no resources scoped for a Web application and cannot be deployed to a particular Web application. Can someone help me debug this? Every other Install-SPSolution command uses -AllWebApplications, and I do not want to specify the web application directly using -URL.
