  Hi I'd like to make an animation that illustrates the positions of some agents I'm simulating under Linux. Basically, I have some files named file00001.dat, file00002.dat and so on. I have to generate "something" that get files in order, and output an animated gif, a dynamic graph or whatever, that simulates the moving reading data from file. I have control on the files, meaning that I can put identifiers or everything I want. How would you achieve that? What programs would you use?

• How is this statement making sense? (Sun's naming convention for Java variables)

  I've been quoting this segment from Sun's document for the past few days, and only now do I stop and think about what it's saying, and I can't make sense out of it. Please keep in mind that English is not my first language. Naming conventions Variables: Except for variables, all instance, class, and class constants are in mixed case with a lowercase first letter. How is this making sense? Isn't this saying that class names are in mixed case with a lowercase first letter? Like I should name it class myClass? And class constants are also in mixed case with a lowercase first letter? Like I should name it Integer.maxValue? And is it really saying anything about how variables themselves should be named? Am I not parsing this properly or is this actually a blatant error?

  I have a .war file for an application that normally runs fine in Jetty. • ImageIcon loads no image

  I'm trying to get image built from tiled set of images So to JPanel I'm adding JButtons with ImageIcons. All images are in folder with my classes (NetBeans), and they're named u1, u2, ..., u16. But on button there is no image shown. What am I doing wrong ? • Trouble Getting a Locally Hosted Copy of the English Language Wiktionary to include the Translations Sections

  I used MWDumper - http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Mwdumper - to import the xml dump of the English Language Wiktionary (specifically the file named enwiktionary-20120930-pages-meta-current.xml,) to my local server. I have found that under the Translations section (on each page for each English word,) next to the name of each language where I should be able to see the definition in a foreign language, I instead see Template:Tø, Template:T+, or Template:T- and I am not sure why this is. As an experiment, I also used WikiTaxi - http://www.yunqa.de/delphi/doku.php/products/wikitaxi/index - with the exact same XML dump and did not have this problem when viewing under WikiTaxi.exe. I have been searching through mediawiki.org looking for the answer, but have so far not been successful. I appreciate your help

  My js code: $(function(){ var arr = new Array('jj', 'kk', 'oo'); $.post('test12.php', {'arr[]': arr}, function(data){ alert(data); }); }); PHP code: <?php echo print_r($_POST['arr']); The thing is,$.post receive a key named 'arr[]',it should be used in PHP as 'arr[]' instead of 'arr',but '$_POST['arr[]']' doesn't work,'arr' works.Which seems that Jquery might do something with curly braces '[]' before sending something to PHP. Secondly,when I remove the single quotas around 'arr[]',PHP can not receive anything by using $_POST['arr'];,I don't know why? Doing this task in a traditional way with no curly braces: $.post('test12.php', {arr: arr}, function(data){ alert(data); }); It works fine. So when sending javascript array to PHP,why bothering using single quote and curly braces like 'arr[]' instead of using a concise way like arr:arr My return result is Array( [0]=>jj [1]=>kk [2]=>oo ) 1 Notice there is a 1 under the array,why?

• Should the name of my classes begin with 'Q' in Qt?

  Hello Everyone, When I first started working with Qt, it was extremely annoying that every class has a name beginning with 'Q', but now I've got used to it. I'm using Qt Creator, and it highlights code quite well. However, it only highlights class names beginning with 'Q'. And it highlights everything beginning with 'Q' even if there is no such type. It doesn't highlight custom class names. That makes me wonder, should I also begin all my class names with 'Q'? Or at least the reusable ones? (I mean, those that I put in a class library, or reuse in another app.) I've seen several places where they named their classes this way. Is it a good thing? I found this page about Qt's naming conventions, but it doesn't deal with this question. Also, I don't understand why Qt doesn't use namespaces.

• How can I move app.config to a different folder inside the Solution Explorer?

  I'm using Visual Studio 2010. In my Solution Explorer I like to sort my Project items into folders (a folder for Forms, a folder for Classes, a Misc folder, etc.) It seems though that if I move the "app.config" file to a folder named "Config Files" everything works until I change a setting in the Settings.settings file. Once I do that, a new app.config is created and the one that was in the "Config Files" folder did not get updated. I have searched the entire solution for the text "app.config" and did not find any results. How can I move this file so that my Solution Explorer looks nice and clean?

• How to look up an NHibernate entity's table mapping from the type of the entity?

  Once I've mapped my domain in NHibernate, how can I reverse lookup those mappings somewhere else in my code? Example: The entity Pony is mapped to a table named "AAZF1203" for some reason. (Stupid legacy database table names!) I want to find out that table name from the NH mappings using only the typeof(Pony) because I have to write a query elsewhere.   Note: This question uses jQuery but the question has nothing to do with jQuery! Okay so I have this object: var box = new BigBox(); This object has a method named Serialize(): box.AddToPage(); Here is the method AddToPage(): function AddToPage() { $('#some_item').html("<div id='box' onclick='this.OnClick()'></div>"); } The problem above is the this.OnClick() (which obviously does not work). I need the onclick handler to invoke a member of the BigBox class. How can I do this? How can an object refer to itself in an event handler?

  How do I append a string to all the files in a directory that starts with a particular string? I tried, cat mysig >> F* But instead of appending contents of mysig to all files starting with F, it creates a file named "F*". Obviously wildcard doesn't seem to work. Any alternatives? Thanks in advance. Edit: Also how do I delete this newly created file "F*" safely?. Using rm F* would delete all the files starting with F which I wouldn't want.

  Is there a way in PHP5 to only allow a certain class or set of classes to call a particular function? For example, let's say I have three classes ("Foo", "Bar", and "Baz"), all with similarly-named methods, and I want Bar to be able to call Foo::foo() but deny Baz the ability to make that call: class Foo { static function foo() { print "foo"; } } class Bar { static function bar() { Foo::foo(); print "bar"; } // Should work } class Baz { static function baz() { Foo::foo; print "baz"; } // Should fail } Foo::foo(); // Should also fail There's not necessarily inheritance between Foo, Bar, and Baz, so the use of protected or similar modifiers won't help; however, the methods aren't necessarily static (I made them so here for the simplicity of the example).

• C++ - checking if a class has a certain method at compile time

  Here's a question for the C++ gurus out there. Is there a way to check at compile time where a type has a certain method, and do one thing if it does, and another thing if it doesn't? Basically, I have a template function template <typename T> void function(T t); and I it to behave a certain way if T has a method g(), and another way if it doesn't. Perhaps there is something that can be used together with boost's enable_if? Something like this: template <typename T> enable_if<has_method<T, g, void ()>, void>::type function(T t) { // Superior implementation calling t.g() } template <typename T> disable_if<has_method<T, g, void ()>, void>::type function(T t) { // Inferior implementation in the case where T doesn't have a method g() } "has_method" would be something that preferably checks both that T has a method named 'g', and that the method has the correct signature (in this case, void ()). Any ideas?

I have created them like Name varchar(50) null, ID int null,Description varchar(50) null, Date datetime null I have inserted a record into the table1 having ID and Description values. So Now my table1 looks like this: Name ID Description Date Null 1 First Null One of them asked me to modify the table such a way that The columns Name and Date should have Null values instead of Text Null.   I have an ec2 instance running Ubuntu 14.04 and I want to host two sites from it. On my first site I have two settings file, production_settings.py and settings.py (for local development). I import the local settings into the production settings and override any settings with the production settings file. Since my production settings file is not the default settings.py name, I have to create an environment variable DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE='site1.production_settings' However because of this whenever I try to start my second site it says No module named site1.production_settings I am assuming that this is due to me setting the environment variable. Another problem is that I won't be able to use different settings file for different sites. How do I start use two different settings file for two different websites?

  I have a model service and a ModelForm named Service which I use to add and update the service model. The model looks like this: class Service(models.Model): categories = models.ManyToManyField(Category) The categories field is displayed as a tag with that allows multiple selection. It works well when I'm adding a new record but when I'm updating it, only one service is showing up on the request.POST['categories'] even if I selected multiple categories. I tried dumping the request object and I can see that the categories is showing something like: u'categories': [u'3', u'4', u'2'] I tried calling the request._get_post() and it did return only 1 category, hence the request.POST['categories'] returns only 1. Anybody who knows what's happening and how to fix it?

  I've got a variable list of associative arrays that I want to iterate through and retrieve their key/value pairs. I iterate through a single associative array by listing all its keys and getting the values, ie. for key in "${!queue1[@]}" do echo "key : $key" echo "value : ${queue1[$key]}" done The tricky part is that the names of the associative arrays are variable variables, e.g. given count = 5, the associative arrays would be named queue1, queue2, queue3, queue4, queue5. I'm trying to replace the sequence above based on a count, but so far every combination of parentheses and eval has not yielded much more then bad substitution errors. e.g below: for count in {1,2,3,4,5} do for key in "${!queue${count}[@]}" do echo "key : $key" echo "value : ${queue${count}[$key]}" done done Help would be very much appreciated!

  If you have a namespace that contains a property in ClassA and a class that has the name of that Property somewhere else in your project and both are in the same namespace this won't cause conflicts will it? So lets say I have a class named Car namespace Dealer { class Vehicle { // the main class that defines vehicle, so this is Dealer.Vehicle (Vehicle.cs) } } and a property over in some other class namespace Dealer { class Dealer { public Vehicle Vehicle { get { return _vehicle; } } } } so for the second it is really this for the property public Dealer.Vehicle Vehicle { get { return _car; } } so now you have Dealer.Vehicle and Dealer.Dealer.Vehicle.   Hello, I am writting program for my iphone and have a qestion. lets say i have class named my_obj class my_obj { NSString *name; NSinteger *id; NSinteger *foo; NSString *boo; } now i allocate 100 objects from type my_obj and insert them to array from type NSArray. then i want to sort the Array in two different ways. one by the name and the second by the id. i want to allocate another two arrays from type NSArray *arraySortByName *arraySortById what i need to do if i just want the sorted arrays to be referenced to the original array so i will get two sorted arrays that point to the original array (that didnt changed!) i other word i dont want to allocate another 100 objects to each sorted array.

  Hi all, I have a relatively simple problem. I have a model named Item which I've added a status field. The status field will only have two options (Lost or Found). So I created the following array in my Item model: STATUS = [ [1, "Lost"], [2, "Found"]] In my form view I added the following code which works great: <%= collection_select :item, :status, Item::STATUS, :first, :last, {:include_blank => 'Select status'} %> This stores the numeric id (1 or 2) of the status in the database. However, in my show view I can't figure out how to convert from the numeric id (again, 1 or 2) to the text equivalent of Lost or Found. Any ideas on how to get this to work?   So, I am able to create an array that populates the fields of the Table, but am having troubles creating the subtext that appears below the main fields. I currently have: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; listOfForms = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [listOfForms addObject:@"First Form"]; } and then: NSString *cellValue = [listOfDAForms objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = cellValue; in the cellForRowAtIndexPath portion. Why can't I add: listOfNames = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [listOfNames addObject:@"Named Form"]; and NSString *cellSubscript = [listOfNames objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.detailTextLabel.text = cellSubscript; in order to make the little subview work? What am I doing wrong?
