  • Windows Azure DownloadtoStream EOF error

    Hello, I've been using Windows Azure to create a document management system, and things have gone well so far. I've been able to upload and download files to the BLOB storage through an asp.net front end. What I'm attempting to do now is allow users to upload a .zip file, and then take the files out of that .zip and save them as individual files. Problem is, I'm getting "ZipException was unhandled" "EOF in header" and I don't know why. I'm using the ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib library which I've used for many other tasks and its worked great. Here's the basic code: CloudBlob ZipFile = container.GetBlobReference(blobURI); MemoryStream MemStream = new MemoryStream(); ZipFile.DownloadToStream(MemStream); .... while ((theEntry = zipInput.GetNextEntry()) != null) and it's on the line that starts with while that I get the error. I added a sleep duration of 10 seconds just to make sure enough time had gone by. MemStream has a length if I debug it, but the zipInput does sometimes, but not always. It always fails.   • Lucene numDocs and doqFreq on custom similarity class

    Hi All, im doing an aplication with Lucene (im a noob with it) and im facing some problems. My aplication uses the Lucene 2.4.0 library with a custom similaraty implementation (the jar is imported) In my app im calculating doqFreq and numDocs manually (im adding the values of all indexes and then i calculate a global value in order to use it on every query) and i want to use that values on a custom similarity implementation in order to calculate a new IDF. The problem is that I dont know how to use (or send) the new doqFreq and numDocs values from my app on that new similarty implementation as I dont want to change lucene´s code apart from this extra class. Any suggestions or examples? I read the docs but i dont now how to aproach this :s Thanks

  • Using regexkitlite with strings containing % signs

    So I'm using RegexKitLite in my iPhone app, and I'm basically grabbing out a bunch of URLs and names from within a web page. The problem is that whenever it comes across a URL with URL encoded characters like %22 for a double quote or %27 for a single quote, the captured string basically gives me a jumbled overflowed string, containing garbage and even method names. I'm really not doing anything particularly special within the regex, just your basic "startdelimiter(.*)enddelimiter" regex.

  • UITextView insert text in the textview text

    I want to have to occasionally insert text into the UITextView text object. For example, if the user presses the "New Paragraph" button I would like to insert a double newline instead of just the standard single newline. How can I go about such? Do i have to read the string from UITextView, mutate it, and write it back? Then how would I know where the pointer was? Thanks

  • NSMutableString leaks on append or replaceOccurrencesOfString

    Hello Folks, I know similar questions have been asked time and time again but I ask that you please bear with me as I cannot seem to find an answer that helps. My application has leaks that are driving me out of my mind. Actually, they are not reported as leaks using Leaks, but my net bytes in ObjectAlloc goes up and up and up and never stops, eventually leading to a crash if it goes on long enough (not very long). The problem occurs with NSMutableStrings. I think there is either something fundamental I don't understand about them, or I am facing another problem that I am having difficulty tracking down but keeps hiding behind the NSMutableStrings. Specifically, I am noticing that whenever I append to or perform a replace on a NSMutableString, ObjectAlloc reports what appear to be mismatches in malloc/frees behind the scene when resizing the NSMutableString. I'm sorry to say this is the second time I'm facing this problem - the first time I messed around for hours and hours and finally the problem went away (magic!) but I don't really know why. When I look at the code below (and believe me, I've stared at it for hours) I cannot see the problem. I look at the code and think to myself that I should be fine because I'm releasing the only object for which I am responsible (aString) and that NSMutableString should be taking care of cleaning up after any resizing it does. In the second example, just so you know in case it helps, the string being passed in comes from an ASIHTTPRequest object (it's the responseString) and I don't do anything at all with it. It's being called simply like so ([self DoStuff2:[request responseString]]) and I don't free the request myself either (I'm using a ASINetworkQueue and I assume that the requests are destroyed for me (I tried and caused errors because the request was already being release somewhere else). Also, I know it shouldn't do anything, but I even tried wrapping the code in autorelease pools, which of course did nothing. I should mention that this code is being run inside of an NSOperation. I thought that perhaps I am experiencing problems because NSOperations should create an autorelease pool for themselves, but I've tried that to no avail. Not related to NSMutableString, but I find I also have similar problems using the NSString componentsSeparatedByString method. Sometimes the memory used by the array that gets the separated components is never released. Hmmm...strings in general seem to be somewhat problematic for me it seems. I would appreciate ANY help anyone can provide. If you require more info, I'll be glad to add it. I do promise you that I've struggled with this (and other problems) for weeks and every problem I encounter I research hard and long until I find a solution - this is not an idle request, but a true cry for help! I've written so much code and now I'm trying to seal some small leaks etc and I notice this problem. Honestly, I cannot believe how memory management in Objective C can stump me so at times...I've read Apple's memory mgmt docs many times and I thought I thoroughly understood it and I try to be diligent about releasing objects I own, but sometimes I find myself wondering if I truly understand...I would like to put this to bed once and make sure I understand all this fully - to have this sort of question/problem after writing thousands of lines of code is more than a little scary/embarrassing/annoying. So again, if anybody has any insight, I'd be grateful.     For whatever reason, IBM uses https (without requiring credentials) for their RSS feeds.     Given a Java SE 6 client, I would like to provide a configurable back-end: either directly to a database or through a web service which connects to a centralized DB. To that end, I've created some JPA- and JAXB-annotated entity classes and a DAO interface in a POJO library like the following: public interface MyDaoInterface { public MyEntity doSomething(); } @javax.persistence.Entity @javax.xml.bind.annotation.XmlRootElement public class MyEntity { private int a; .... } Now, I would like to have my auto-generated web service stubs implement that interface and interact with my defined entity classes, rather than the generated classes provided via the JAX-B unmarshaller. So, the client-side pseudo code would be something like MyDaoInterface dao; if (usingWebservice) dao = new WebserviceDao(); else dao = new JpaDao(); MyEntity e = dao.doSomething(); Is this possible with JPA, JAXB, JAXWS? Is this even advisable? Currently we achieve this through a slow manual process of massaging code, copying generating classes, and doing other things that seem just plain wrong to me.

    Hi All, I'm having a bit of trouble with regex's (C#, ASP.NET), and I'm pretty sure I'm doing something fundamentally wrong. My task is to bind a dynamically created gridview to a datasource, and then iterate through a column in the grid, looking for the string "A&I". An example of what the data in the cell (in template column) looks like is: Name: John Doe Phone: 555-123-1234 Email: john[email protected] Dept: DHS-A&I-MRB Here's the code I'm using to find the string value: foreach(GridViewRow gvrow in gv.Rows) { Match m = Regex.Match(gvrow.Cells[6].Text,"A&I"); if(m.Success) { gvrow.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Red; } } I'm not having any luck with any of these variations: "A&I" "[A][&][I]" But when I strictly user "&", the row does turn red. I found this excellent solution for transforming strings to lowercase, but the Title Case function seems to have been left out of my version of MySQL. Is there an elegant way to do this?

  • WPF Datagrid zoom issue

    I'm working with the WPF DataGrid from the WPFToolkit and I'm having issues with trying to zoom the entire datagrid. My initial thought was that it was going to be really easy and I would just apply a scale transform to the grid and animate the ScaleX, ScaleY properties when the used clicked a button. This did not work however because the scrollbar was zoomed in making it larger. I need fixed headers and fixed columns on the datagrid so I can't simple use a scrollviewer outside of the datagrid to handle the scrolling. The second thing I tried was to just scale the font size in the grid, but this failed because on shrinking the font size the columns stay at the original width and do not shrink. Finally I thought I had it working by using the below code which goes into the view tree for the datagrid and adds a scale transform to the Scroll Content Presenter. (Also not shown in this code, I apply a transform to the visual tree item for the headers in the same manner so that it scales as well). I thought this was working great until I tested out the horizontal scrolling after zooming. (Vertical scrolling works perfectly.) Before zooming at all the horizontal scrolling is fine, but after zooming, when I scroll horzonitally the display freaks out. It is hard to tell exactly what it is doing, but it sort of looks like the content that is scrolling off the left of the screen is "folding over" and coming back in on the left. Maybe it is just all smashing up on the left side. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get this working, hopefully without throwing out my whole datagrid that is already working quite well otherwise.   • Kink detection in drawn polylines

    Users can sketch in my app using a very simple tool (move mouse while holding LMB). This results in a series of mousemove events and I record the cursor location at each event. The resulting polyline curve tends to be rather dense, with recorded points almost every other pixel. I'd like to smooth this pixelated polyline, but I don't want to smooth intended kinks. So how do I figure out where the kinks are? The image shows the recorded trail (red pixels) and the 'implied' shape as a human would understand it. People tend to slow down near corners, so there is usually even more noise here than on the straight bits.

  • JQuery SelectToUISlider Issues

    Hopefully this hasn't been asked before as just a slider question, but I couldn't find an answer when already browsing questions. So, here goes: I have a SelectToUISlider (http://www.filamentgroup.com/lab/update_jquery_ui_slider_from_a_select_element_now_with_aria_support/) which is basically a modified JQuery UI Slider, and I'm using a range value. So, I start with one handle at 60, and another at 100 (scale from 0 to 100). What I want to do is click a radio button so that the 100 changes to a 0, and be able to change back to 100. I have been unsuccessful at changing it via JQuery selectors/javascript. However, when changing the selects to move the handles, this works, but the range appears not to follow if the second handle (at 100) moves to 0 behind the first handle (at 60). I'm thinking I might have to destroy the slider and rebuild it with the second handle (that starts as 100) become the first handle at 0 in this scenario (although I've tried destroying it and it doesn't seem to respond to that either.)   • rails: "unknown action" message when action is clearly specified

    hi, I had hard time to figure out why I've been getting "unknown action" error message when I was do some editing: Unknown action No action responded to 11. Actions: bin, create, destroy, edit, index, new, observe_new, show, tag, update, and vote you can see that Rails did mention each action in the above list - update. And in my form, I did specify action = "update".   • "Work stealing" vs. "Work shrugging (tm)"?

    Why is it that I can find lots of information on "work stealing" and nothing on a "work shrugging(tm)" as a load-balancing strategy? I am surprised because work-stealing seems to me to have an inherent weakness when implementating efficient fine-grained load-balancing. Vis:- Relying on consumer processors to implement distribution (by actively stealing) begs the question of what these processors do when they find no work? None of the work-stealing references and implementations I have come across so far address this issue satisfactorarily for me. They either:- 1) Manage not to disclose what they do with idle processors! [Cilk] (?anyone know?) 2) Have all idle processors sleep and wake periodically and scatter messages to the four winds to see if any work has arrived [e.g. JAWS] (= way too latent & inefficient for me). 3) Assume that it is acceptable to have processors "spinning" looking for work ( = non-starter for me!) Unless anyone thinks there is a solution for this I will move on to consider a "Work Shrugging(tm)" strategy. Having the task-producing processor distribute excess load seems to me inherently capable of a much more efficient implementation. However a quick google didn't show up anything under the heading of "Work Shrugging" so any pointers to prior-art would be welcome. tx Tags I would have added if I was allowed to [work-stealing]

    I'll add 500 of my own rep as a bounty when SO lets me. I'm using wkhtmltopdf to convert HTML web pages to PDFs. This works perfectly on my 32-bit dev server [unfortunately, I can't ship my machine :-p ]. All form-fields, images, borders, tables, divs, spans, ps, etc are rendered accurately...just void of any text at all. Server information: Windows edition: Windows Server Standard Service Pack 2 Processor: Intel Xeon E5410 @ 2.33GHz 2.33 GHz Memory: 8.00 GB System type: 64-bit Operating System Can anyone give me a clue as to what is happening and how I can fix this?
