• How to prevent duplication of content on a page with too many filters?

  I have a webpage where a user can search for items based on around 6 filters. Currently I have the page implemented with one filter as the base filter (part of the url that would get indexed) and other filters in the form of hash urls (which won't get indexed). This way the duplication is less. Something like this example.com/filter1value-items#by-filter3-filter3value-filter2-filter2value Now as you may see, only one filter is within the reach of the search engine while the rest are hashed. This way I could have 6 pages. Now the problem is I expect users to use two filters as well at times while searching. As per my analysis using the Google Keyword Analyzer there are a fare bit of users that might use two filters in conjunction while searching. So how should I go about it? Having all the filters as part of the url would simply explode the number of pages and sticking to the current way wouldn't let me target those users. I was thinking of going with at max 2 base filters and rest as part of the hash url. But the only thing stopping me is that it would lead to duplication of content as per Google Webmaster Tool's suggestions on Url Structure.

• Critical Patch Updates During EBS 11i Exception to Sustaining Support Period

  As previously blogged in the EBS 11i and 12.1 Support Timeline Changes entry, two important changes to the Oracle Lifetime Support policies were announced at Oracle OpenWorld 2012 - San Francisco.  These changes affect E-Business Suite Releases 11i and 12.1. Critical Patch Updates for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support Period You may be wondering about the availability of Critical Patch Updates (CPU) for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support period.  The following details the E-Business Suite Critical Patch Update support policy for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support period: Oracle will continue to provide CPUs containing critical security fixes for E-Business Suite 11i.  CPUs will be packaged and released as as cumulative patches for both ATG RUP 6 and ATG RUP 7. As always, we try to minimize the number of patches and dependencies required for uptake of a CPU; however, there have been quite a few changes to the 11i baseline since its release.  For dependency reasons the 11i CPUs may require a higher number of files in order to bring them up to a consistent, stable, and well tested level. EBS 11i customer will continue to receive CPUs up to and including the October 2014 CPU. Where can I learn more? There are two interlocking policies that affect the E-Business Suite:  Oracle's Lifetime Support policies for each EBS release (timelines which were updated by this announcement), and the Error Correction Support policies (which state the minimum baselines for new patches). • New MyOracleSupport (MOS)Interface Coming 13 July 2012

  On July 13, 2012, we plan to upgrade the My Oracle Support HTML-based user interface (UI) with additional functionality that will allow those users remaining on the Flash-based user interface to switch over to the HTML version. Our goal is to provide a single-online support portal so that all My Oracle Support users can benefit from the same features and functionality. Prior to July 13, 2012, users of Oracle On Demand, Oracle CRM On Demand, Taleo, and Oracle Configuration Manager should continue accessing the My Oracle Support Flash-based user interface. After July 13, 2012, the above features and functionality to support these users will be available on the HTML interface. All other users of My Oracle Support can make the switch now. Benefits of using the HTML-based user interface include: Streamlined, three-step process for initiating new Service Requests (SRs) Single, consistent workflow for both hardware and software incidents Enhanced personalization and filtering within the user interface New accessibility features (enabling screen readers, large fonts, etc.) Additionally, please note Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) will no longer be supported. • Plans for Java 7 and E-Business Suite Certification

  As of June 2012, Java 7 has not been certified yet with Oracle E-Business Suite.  EBS customers should continue to run JRE 6 on their Windows end-user desktops, and JDK 6 on their EBS servers. If a search engine has brought you to this article, please check the Certifications summary for our latest certified Java release. Our plans for certifying Java 7 for the E-Business Suite We plan on releasing the Java 7 certification for E-Business Suite customers in two phases: Phase 1: Certify JRE 7 for Windows end-user desktops Phase 2: Certify JDK 7 for server-based components When will Java 7 be certified with EBS? We're working on the first phase now. As usual, I cannot discuss release dates here, but you can monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates. Current known issues with JRE 7 in EBS environments Our current testing shows that there are known incompatibilities between JRE 7 and the Forms-invocation process in EBS environments.  We have been working directly with the Java division on this for a while now.  In the meantime, EBS customers should not deploy JRE 7 to their end-user Windows desktop clients. You should stick with JRE 1.6 for now.  But wait, you previously said... Older JRE certification announcements stated: Our standard policy is that all E-Business Suite customers can apply all JRE updates to end-user desktops from JRE 1.6.0_03 and higher.  We test all new JRE releases in parallel with the JRE development process, so all JRE releases are considered certified with the E-Business Suite on the same day that they're released by our Java team.  You do not need to wait for a certification announcement before applying new JRE releases to your EBS users' desktops. Yes, this is true.  This standard boilerplate text was written before JRE 7 was released, so there was no possibility of misunderstanding.  With the availability of JRE 7, that boilerplate needs to be revised to read: Our standard policy is that all E-Business Suite customers can apply all JRE updates to end-user desktops from JRE 1.6.0_03 and later updates on the 1.6 codeline.  We test all new JRE 1.6 releases in parallel with the JRE development process, so all new JRE 1.6 releases are considered certified with the E-Business Suite on the same day that they're released by our Java team.  You do not need to wait for a certification announcement before applying new JRE 1.6 releases to your EBS users' desktops. • Content light website and Google - Tell google it's a listings site (as opposed shop, reviews or restaurants)

  I have a listings style website. Due to the nature of this (listings) the site is content light. Each page is typically less that 50 words but there are many pages. The site in question has had a ton of media coverage and so has some great inbound links from places like Wired, Fast Company, Canada Broadcasting Corporation and many many other bloggers, media websites and recycle related niche authors (It's a recycling site). But Google really ignores it. Traffic from search is very very low - less than 5% of all traffic. I know that using markup you can tell Google whether your site is a restaurant, article, review, shop, local business and a few other categories (https://www.google.com/webmasters/markup-helper/u/0/). Is there a way to tell Google that my site is a listings site? I suspect, but do not know for sure, that part of the problem is that Google simply does not know what my site is? It's a crowdmap where people post curbalerts. The information is useful to people but it is presented in a short, concise way - a pin on a map, a picture and a short description. Adding anything further is not necessary for the site's intended purpose. 1st question - how best to tell the search engines what y site is - listings and not some spammy website? • Eclipse plugin: content assist working in Galileo, not Ganymede

  Hi, I am writing a custom editor in a plugin, and I developed it in Galileo. Now I'm trying to run it in Ganymede, but content assist doesn't work. There is no error, just nothing happens when I type "ctrl+space". The way I'm doing it is by providing a custom Configuration class that extends SourceViewerConfiguration, overriding public IContentAssistant getContentAssistant(ISourceViewer sourceViewer). The method gets called when the editor is created but there is no content assist. Was there any change from Ganymede to Galileo that I should be aware of?

• Oracle: error while trying to use formulas

  I created an element with an input value of type "Day" , when i write a formula i get this error. Any idea what's wrong? APP-FF-33232: EATC_EXTRA_DAYS_ENTRY_EFFECTIVE_DATE_ENTRY_VALUE has null or not found allowed, but no default set specified.   Hi All, I have a requirment where I want to upload a document based on category and subcategory. I have added this columns as an lookup column which pulls data from category and subcategory list. Now want the document should be passed from series of approval so I have attached SharePoint out of the box Approval workflow to this document library. Now I want to create a content type which contains these two lookup column and approval workflow. So that I can user these setting for rest of the document library.   How do you set the content type in Restlet (version 2.0 for google app engine)? In this case, I'd like to set the content type to ""text/xml".   There are quite few solutions on Ext forums, but I wasn’t able to get any of them work. It seems I am missing something minor. I need to resize combobox to fit its content when it’s first created. I do not need to worry about resizing it when content is changing. Is there any working examples using Extjs 3.2?   I have to admit that "workflows" are not my strong side so here is what the problem is: we have active workflow that initiates when someone changes document of type X, the problem is that it is not initiated when someone try yo delete a revision. Is there a way to initiate workflow when someone try to "delete" document, so the workflow administrator to have to approve all deletions. Thank in advance, Ilian Iliev

  I have been coding a design I had been working on for a week or so and have core across a snag. While doing the HTML/CSS of one of my right column modules the content within it expands however the bg and bordered area it is within does not. htttp://www.gamefriction.com/Coded/ (url with example) http://www.gamefriction.com/Coded/css/style.css (css stylesheet used on page) This website is purely HTML and CSS at this time all code can be viewed through the View Source option on all browsers. The area that is not working properly is the bullet links in the right module with the blue background that says "League Menu". The content above that will make the module background expand however the linked bullet menu will not.

• Avoid implicit conversion from date to timestamp for selects with Oracle using Hibernate

  I'm using Hibernate 3.2.7.GA criteria queries to select rows from an Oracle Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.4.0 database, filtering by a timestamp field. The field in question is of type java.util.Date in Java, and DATE in Oracle. It turns out that the field gets mapped to java.sql.Timestamp, and Oracle converts all rows to TIMESTAMP before comparing to the passed in value, bypassing the index and thereby ruining performance. One solution would be to use Hibernate's sqlRestriction() along with Oracle's TO_DATE function. That would fix performance, but requires rewriting the application code (lots of queries). So is there a more elegant solution? Since Hibernate already does type mapping, could it be configured to do the right thing? Update: The problem occurs in a variety of configurations, but here's one specific example: Oracle Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.4.0 Oracle JDBC Driver 11.1.0.7.0 Hibernate 3.2.7.GA Hibernate's Oracle10gDialect Java 1.6.0_16
