• Capistrano update causes C: to be placed in the current directory (cygwin)

  When I run cap deploy:update in a directory on my local machine (via cygwin), "C:" magically appears in the directory. Sure enough, I can cd to it and it's my windows C: drive. Now I'm afraid to delete it, but I definitely don't want it in this directory (a rails project under /home/username/blah/blah). My concern is that the quality of the retrieved image is not up to the expectation. Is there a way to have better conversion to byte array and retrieving? I am not worried about the space conception. • c# Create a unique name with a GUID

  I am creating a back up solution. I doubt there is anything new in what I'm trying to achieve. Before copying the file I want to take a backup of the destination file in case anything becomes corrupt. This means renaming the file. I have to be careful when renaming in case the file already exists and adding a 01 to the end is not safe. My question is, based upon not finding the answer else where, would adding a GUID to the file name work. So, if my file was called file01.txt, renaming the file to file01.txtGUID (where GUID is the generated GUID), I could then perform my back up of that file (at this instance having 2 back ups) and then, after ensuring the file has copied (by comparing length of file to the source), delete the file with the GUID in the name. I know the GUID is not 100% guaranteed to be unique but would this suffice?

Checking User Agent for Chrome Ensuring resolution is 1920 x 1080 (not that useful as it is a client side check) Banning under robots.txt to keep Google out of it Do you have any more suggestions? In this specific case I am not speaking of a connection abort, but handling the event that triggers when the 'cancel' button in the browser download dialog button is clicked. Since this dialog already interprets the headers of the file that is to be download but does not actually start the download, it only seems logical there should be some way to catch this. The output I get is Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 for every line. I think the line breaks are being picked up and that is why it is not working. Any ideas? I'm using Mac OSX is that makes any difference.

  Where would you write an error log file, say ErrorLog.txt, in Windows? Keep in mind the path would need to be open to basic users for file write permissions. I know the eventlog is a possible location for writing errors, but does it work for "user" level permissions? EDIT: I am targeting Windows 2003, but I was posing the question in such a way as to have a "General Guideline" for where to write error logs. As for the EventLog, I have had issues before in an ASP.NET application where I wanted to log to the Windows event log, but I had security issues causing me heartache. (I do not recall the issues I had, but remember having them.)
