• Error releasing Grails plugin

  Hi, I checked out the trunk of my plugin from the Grails svn repo, made some changes, incremented the version number to 0.2.1, then ran release-plugin. It failed with the error shown below: Checking in plugin zip... Updating from SVN... Updated to revision 61343. Committing local, please wait... Enter a SVN commit message: Fixed bug with controller dependency version and upgraded to grails 1.2.2 Committing code. Please wait... Failed to stat working directory: svn: Commit failed (details follow): svn: Authentication required for '<https://svn.codehaus.org:443> grails-plugins primary Subversion repository' Application context shutting down... Application context shutdown. It's possible that my password is not correct, but I'm pretty sure it is. Does anyone know what the problem could be, and is there some way I can verify that the password I'm using is correct?

• What Source Control?

  I desperately need source control to manage projects between more than one developer. A long time ago I used Visual Source Safe and it worked quite well. Can anybody recommend a free substitute? I have the following basic requirements: I need to host the repository on my own server. I do not want extra clutter within my source files, like CVS does. I need proper check in / check out, so that nobody can change a module until I've checked it back in. I don't want / need source code merging / branching. We use Delphi for web development, so many html files, images, sql files, etc. Any recommendations?

• Silverlight 4 RIA does not return anything using DomainContext

  Hi everybody! Just learning Silverlight 4/RIA and i 'm stuck in a weird problem: setup an ASP.NET MVC project as the project hosting the Domain service. In this i tried to get data from the Domain Service which worked fine (i'm using a repository in it). Now i tried to setup a SL4 project. I though i do it the MVVM-way, so i decided to setup a ViewModel Class with the following code: public class ViewModel { OrganizationDomainContext dsCtxt = new OrganizationDomainContext(); public ViewModel() { EntityQuery<Culture> query = from cu in dsCtxt.GetAllCulturesQuery() select cu; LoadOperation<Culture> lo = dsCtxt.Load(query); } } The crazy thing about this is .. it doesn't return anything!!! • Pre-commit hooks getting partial committed file list

  I know running git-diff and other tools can identify the changes in the repository, but when I do a partial commit, I need to pass only the committed files (rather than the entire set of files that are touched) to the pre-commit hook. For example, I modified three files and commit only two, and I want the pre-commit hook to know the name of the two files. git status --porcelain M A.c M B.c M C.h then I execute: git commit -m "two files only" A.c B.c How can the pre-commit hook get hold of the list of the two files only?

  i've been experimenting with git as my personal code rep.. and it has been a bit of a disaster with windows. i've used Subversion, CVS, and Perforce in the past.. none were as annoying to use as git. i've figured out the PGP part (for github), although my workstation no longer lets me check in, and after searching around it turns out that git bash is using putty which is not that reliable and should be configured with something else.. i was not able to configure it with windows shell extension for a nice visual of what is part of the repository, what is modified, and easy check ins, and easy pushes.. has anyone successfully configured some kind of windows shell client and can efficiently and quickly synchronize various machines? It just seems to be more pain to use than it is worth..

• post commit hook fail

  I have Master/Slave setup using Win2k8R with SVN 1.6.9 and using TortoiseSVN 1.6.7. The access is through Apache and using http. Everything works but when I commit I get the following message: Error: post-commit hook failed (exit code 1) with output: Error: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. This happen when using multiple TortoiseSVN dialog for committing the files in rapid succession. If I use one TortoiseSVN dialog and wait till the commit reply is back then I won't see the problem. In other words, committing one at the time cause no issue. The post-commit script output is logged. Even though I get the above error but when I check the Master and Slave repository the files have been replicated okay with no issue. I am wondering how this issue can be solved.

• Subclipse plugin doesn't work in Eclipse?

  Hi, even though there was no error when installing Subclipse in Eclipse. I won't see the SVN perspective at all? I have tried with "Eclipse Classic 3.5.1" and with "Eclipse for PHP Developers". After downloading and unzipping the packages I used Eclipse's "Install Software" mechanism to install Subclipse 1.6.x. I followed the steps described here: http://www3.math.tu-berlin.de/jreality/mediawiki/index.php/Subclipse_installation_in_eclipse_galileo. But after Eclipse re-starts I don't get any SVN Repository perspective? I have tried to un-install/re-install all the software components many times now. Finally after 3 hours of trying I am giving up. Does anyone have any hint what I am missing? Thanks! Peter

  Hello, Im using Eclipse Galileo and have installed Subclipse. I looked at the svn repo url at http://www.liferay.com/web/brian.chan/blog/-/blogs/changes-to-anonymous-access-to-liferay-s-svn and then tried to get Liferay from their SVN repository in Eclipse, using svn://svn.liferay.com/repos/public --username guest,but i get the following error message: Error validating location: "org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException:No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. svn: Cant connect to host 'svn.liferay.com':No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it Any way to fix this ?   Is there some tool in xcode that allows me to store snippets of code I often reuse in various applications so I do not have to retype it each time? I am talking about things like all the code that goes into defining Table Delegate Methods and Table Source Methods, UIAlertViews code and such. I just would like to have my own private repository where I can put snippets of code I think I may need in the future in other apps. Is there anything like that? Thanks for any help.

  I'm trying to import an already existing git repository with multiple branches and tags into gerrit. I'm following the official guide at https://gerrit-review.googlesource.com/Documentation/install-quick.html#_already_existing_project. However, when issuing the push command all the branches and tags, except "master" which I'm currently in, are "prohibited by Gerrit". The output is something like this: user@host:~/my-project$ git push ssh://user@localhost:29418/demo-project *:* [....] * [new branch] master -> master ! [remote rejected] origin/Branch1 -> origin/Branch1 (prohibited by Gerrit) ! [remote rejected] origin/Branch2 -> origin/Branch2 (prohibited by Gerrit) [....] ! • OSLO, ANTLR or other parser grammar, for parsing QUERY EXPRESSION

  Greetings I'm working on a project that requires me to write queries in text form, then convert them to some easily processed nodes to be processed by some abiguous repository. Of everything there, the part I'm least interested is the part that converts the text to nodes. I'm hoping it's already done somewhere. Because I'm making stuff up as I go, I chose to use a LINQish expression syntax. from m in Movie select m.A, m.B I started parsing it manually and got the basics, but it's pretty cheesy. I'm looking for the better solution. I made some progress using MGrammar, but it would be nice if such a thing already existed. Does anyone know of anything that already does this? I looked for existing ANTLR templates, but no luck. Thanks for the help.

• How to deploy code using git

  I have a bare repository initialize on my webserver. I code on my workstation and I'm able to push/pull/commit changes to it. Now, I want to deploy this code on the webserver but into my apache directory (/var/www/html). If I wanted to track the changes (only pull no push) from this directory, should I clone the repo first? This way I can make changes locally, then commit and push to "central repo" and then pull from the documentroot folder to see the changes in "prod."

• SVN Delete with wildcard?

  I'm migrating a VSS repository to SVN and inadvertently included all of the _vti_cnf, *.scc files in the first check-in. I'd like to remove these from SVN. (Not permanently, of course - just in the HEAD). The application in question is quite large, and finding and deleting these files on a folder-by-folder basis will take forever. Suggestions? There must be some obvious way to do this, but the proximity of the weekend is interfering with my higher brain functions.

• How do I exclude the sources jar in mvn deploy?

  When I run "mvn deploy:deploy", maven deploys 4 jar files to my internal remote repository. They are: [module-name]-1.jar [module-name]-1.pom [module-name]-1-sources.jar [module-name]-1-tests.jar There are actually more files, such as md5 and sha1 files, being deployed. But for simplicity, I just skip these files here. Is there any way to exclude [module-name]-1-sources.jar from the deployment process? One way I can think of is to use "mvn deploy:deploy-file", which allows me to pinpoint which jar to deploy. But since I have a few dozen modules to deploy, it'll be nice if I can configure the deployment file exclusion in pom.xml. Otherwise, I'll have to write a script to deploy. Thanks, Richard

• SVN: is it possible to delete a branch that was copied removed etc for good?

  I have to remove a branch from svn history for good. Normally I would use svnadmin dump /path/to/repo |svndumpfilter --drop-empty-revs --renumber-revs exclude /branches/bad_branch However this branch was not just created, but also moved and then removed and dump script fails to process downstream information with messages like: Invalid copy source path '/branches/bad_branch' So I imagine 2 ways to cope with the problem keep only last few revisions of the history and put current repository as an archive on the web make a dump up to the revision where the 'bad_branch' was created and apply the rest of the changes as a patch, therefore losing history of a few recent commits. Is there a better, cleaner way to deal with this?

• Maven: How to create assembly with snapshot artifacts without timestamps file name?

  I've a repository containing snapshot artifacts with timestamps. I want to create an assembly, that contains the dependencies. This works fine. But the artifact names contains the timestamp. So i wonder how to remove the timestamp from filename for the assembly only. I've used this dependencySet: <outputFileNameMapping>${artifact.artifactId}-${artifact.version}.${artifact.extension}</outputFileNameMapping> But version seams to contain already the timestamp. So is there any chance to get a 1.1.1-SNAPSHOT instead of 1.1.1-20100323.071348-182?

• Fat ASP.NET MVC Controllers

  Hello, I have been reading about "Fat Controllers" but most of the articles out there focus on pulling the service/repository layer logic out of the controller. However, I have run into a different situation and am wondering if anyone has any ideas for improvement. I have a controller with too many actions and am wondering how I can break this down into many controllers with fewer actions. All these actions are responsible for inserting/updating/removing objects that all belong to the same aggregate. So I'm not quiet keen in having a seperate controller for each class that belongs to this aggregate... To give you more details, this controller is used in a tabbed page. Each tab represents a portion of the data for editing and all the domain model objects used here belong to the same aggregate. Any advice? Cheers, Mosh

As a result, I'm posting this to elicit some suggestions and contributions from the users of Subversion. Any comments are welcome, and I shall feedback a synopsis with a link to this question to the dev mailing list. On the post, several ideas were suggested as being "very nice to have" and are offered as the starting point of a future roadmap. • svn over HTTP proxy

  Hi all. I'm on laptop (Ubuntu) with a network that use HTTP proxy (only http connections allowed). When I use svn up for url like 'http://.....' everything is cool (google chrome repository works perfect), but right now I need to svn up from server with 'svn://....' and I see connection refused. I've set proxy configuration in /etc/subversion/servers but it doesn't help. Anyone have opinion/solution? Thanks. Anton.

• Non-existent file in limbo prevents push to remote branch (Bazaar VCS)

  Hi! I use Bazaar VCS to version files locally on my notebook. When im in the office I merge the changes to a repository on a windows share and also push all the files there (for backup reasons). My Problem: The last push resulted in an error, because I added a file with a very long filename (I had that problem before ... python doesn't like long filenames). So I removed the file (I didn't need it anyway) and forgot about the problem for a while, because commiting still worked fine. The next time I wanted to push my new revision I got a new error: bzr: ERROR: [Error 3] Das System kann den angegebenen Pfad nicht finden: u'//path/to/remote/branch/.bzr/checkout/limbo/new-8/loooooooongfilename.xls' translation: bzr: ERROR: [Error 3] The system can't find the following path: What I've tried: Deleting the limbo folder-- limbo folder doesn't exist Create the missing path with a dummy-file -- bazaar locks the branch -- unlock -- same problem as before bzr check -- Everything is fine -- No success bzr reconcile -- No success Thanks for reading ;o)

  I have a post-update hook on my server, such that when I git push it does a pull on the live web directory. However, while the push always succeeds, the post-update hook sometimes fails. The hook is pretty simple: #!/bin/sh # # An example hook script to prepare a packed repository for use over # dumb transports. # # To enable this hook, rename this file to "post-update". cd /var/www env -i git pull I'm pushing updates from a variety of places, but sometimes I have to login as root on the server and manuall do a env -i git pull I only have to do it 20% of the time though. • Best option for using the GData APIs on Android?

  What's the least painful and most size efficient way to use the Google Data APIs in an Android application? After a few quick searches t seems that there is an android-gdata project on Google Code that seems to be the work of a single author. I didn't find any documentation for it and don't even know if it's production ready yet. An older option, the com.google.wireless.gdata package seems to have been removed from the SDK. It's still available in the GIT repository. Before I invest too much time with either approach I'd like to know which is the best supported and least painful.
