  • How can I graph the Lines of Code history for git repo?

    - by dbr
Basically I want to get the number of lines-of-code in the repository after each commit. The only (really crappy) ways I have found is to use git filter-branch to run "wc -l *", and a script that run git reset --hard on each commit, then ran wc -l To make it a bit clearer, when the tool is run, it would output the lines of code of the very first commit, then the second and so on.. This is what I want the tool to output (as an example): me@something:~/$ gitsloc --branch master 10 48 153 450 1734 1542 I've played around with the ruby 'git' library, but the closest I found was using the .lines() method on a diff, which seems like it should give the added lines (but does not.. it returns 0 when you delete lines for example) require 'rubygems' require 'git' total = 0 g = Git.open(working_dir = '/Users/dbr/Desktop/code_projects/tvdb_api') last = nil g.log.each do |cur| diff = g.diff(last, cur) total = total + diff.lines puts total last = cur end

  • Simple github fetch/merge not pulling in remote branch?

    - by chum of chance
I have a project I forked on github to my repository. I made changes on the "experiment" branch of the project the committed the project to my fork. If you go to my branch on Github you can see the that the experiment branch was correctly committed. I would like to merge the experiment branch with the original repo (which I have rights to). I issued the following commands: git clone [email protected]:originalrepo/theproject.git git checkout -b experiment origin/experiment cd theproject git remote add experiment [email protected]:chumofchance/theproject.git git fetch experiment git merge experiment "Already up to date" However, when I view the project in explorer, it appears that nothing has changed. Am I screwing something up in regards to fetching the experiment branch (vs the master branch)?

  • Git ignore file for vb.net projects

    - by John C
Placing a vb.net project under git control in windows (was previously under VSS - long sad story of repository corruption, etc). How should I set up the ignore file? The exclusions I'm thinking of using are: *.exe *.pdb *.manifest *.xml *.log (is git case sensitive on windows? Should I exclude *.Log as well?) *.scc (I gather these were left over from VSS - maybe I should delete them?) Is this a sensible list? Should I be excluding directories?

  • Recover from inadvertent skip during rebase

    - by Benjol
I just tried to rebase a very old branch with a minor modification onto my master. There was a problem with merging just one of the three files involved, so I did an unthinking --skip, thinking that it would just skip that file, but as it happened, it seems to have skipped all my changes, and rolled forwards. So now the rebase is finished, and my changes seem to have disappeared. I've seen the question about undoing rebase, but it's all greek to me, I see the reflog, but I don't know which commit the branch was attached to before the rebase. In any case, I don't really need to undo the rebase, I just want to be able to recover the changes in the two files. Is there anyway to do this properly (failing this, I'll just have to restore yesterday's backup of my repository and pick the bits out by hand).

  • What Belongs to the Aggregate Root

    - by jlembke
This is a practical Domain Driven Design question: Conceptually, I think I get Aggregate roots until I go to define one. I have an Employee entity, which has surfaced as an Aggregate root. In the Business, some employees can have work-related Violations logged against them: Employee-----*Violations Since not all Employees are subject to this, I would think that Violations would not be a part of the Employee Aggregate, correct? So when I want to work with Employees and their related violations, is this two separate Repository interactions by some Service? Lastly, when I add a Violation, is that method on the Employee Entity? Thanks for the help!

  • No persister for: <ClassName> issue with Fluent NHibernate

    - by Amit
I have following code: //AutoMapConfig.cs using System; using FluentNHibernate.Automapping; namespace SimpleFNH.AutoMap { public class AutoMapConfig : DefaultAutomappingConfiguration { public override bool ShouldMap(Type type) { return type.Namespace == "Examples.FirstAutomappedProject.Entities"; } } } //CascadeConvention.cs using FluentNHibernate.Conventions; using FluentNHibernate.Conventions.Instances; namespace SimpleFNH.AutoMap { public class CascadeConvention : IReferenceConvention, IHasManyConvention, IHasManyToManyConvention { public void Apply(IManyToOneInstance instance) { instance.Cascade.All(); } public void Apply(IOneToManyCollectionInstance instance) { instance.Cascade.All(); } public void Apply(IManyToManyCollectionInstance instance) { instance.Cascade.All(); } } } //Item.cs namespace SimpleFNH.Entities { public class Item { public virtual long ID { get; set; } public virtual string ItemName { get; set; } public virtual string Description { get; set; } public virtual OrderItem OrderItem { get; set; } } } //OrderItem.cs namespace SimpleFNH.Entities { public class OrderItem { public virtual long ID { get; set; } public virtual int Quantity { get; set; } public virtual Item Item { get; set; } public virtual ProductOrder ProductOrder { get; set; } public virtual void AddItem(Item item) { item.OrderItem = this; } } } using System; using System.Collections.Generic; //ProductOrder.cs namespace SimpleFNH.Entities { public class ProductOrder { public virtual long ID { get; set; } public virtual DateTime OrderDate { get; set; } public virtual string CustomerName { get; set; } public virtual IList<OrderItem> OrderItems { get; set; } public ProductOrder() { OrderItems = new List<OrderItem>(); } public virtual void AddOrderItems(params OrderItem[] items) { foreach (var item in items) { OrderItems.Add(item); item.ProductOrder = this; } } } } //NHibernateRepo.cs using FluentNHibernate.Cfg; using FluentNHibernate.Cfg.Db; using NHibernate; using NHibernate.Criterion; using NHibernate.Tool.hbm2ddl; namespace SimpleFNH.Repository { public class NHibernateRepo { private static ISessionFactory _sessionFactory; private static ISessionFactory SessionFactory { get { if (_sessionFactory == null) InitializeSessionFactory(); return _sessionFactory; } } private static void InitializeSessionFactory() { _sessionFactory = Fluently.Configure().Database( MsSqlConfiguration.MsSql2008.ConnectionString( @"server=Amit-PC\SQLEXPRESS;database=SimpleFNH;Trusted_Connection=True;").ShowSql()). I wanted to create a simple program which will set a pattern for my bigger project but it is taking quite a lot of time than expected. It would be rally helpful if you can explain in simple terms on any template/pattern that i can use to get fluent nHibernate working. The above code uses auto mapping, which i tried after i tried with fluent mapping.

  • CMake & ExternalProject: Fails to find specific file

    - by Enrico
Hi, we have some dependency libraries in our repository. The main part is build with cmake. Now the cmake-makefiles shall build the dependency libraries, which do not have a cmake build system. For one specific library there is a "Makefile.squirrel" which should be used. The cmakelists.txt for that library: cmake_minimum_required (VERSION 2.8) include(ExternalProject) ExternalProject_Add(squirrel, SOURCE_DIR "./" UPDATE_COMMAND "" BUILD_IN_SOURCE 1 CONFIGURE_COMMAND "" BUILD_COMMAND "make -f ${CMAKE_CURRENT_SOURCE_DIR}/Makefile.squirrel" INSTALL_COMMAND "" ) However, when running make I get an error message: [ 93%] Performing build step for 'squirrel,' /bin/sh: make -f /home/enrico/projekte/projectname/dependencies/SQUIRREL2/Makefile.squirrel: not found make[2]: *** [dependencies/SQUIRREL2/squirrel,-prefix/src/squirrel,-stamp/squirrel,-build] Error 127 make[1]: *** [dependencies/SQUIRREL2/CMakeFiles/squirrel,.dir/all] Error 2 make: *** [all] Error 2 ls -lA on /home/enrico/projekte/projectname/dependencies/SQUIRREL2/Makefile.squirrel shows that the file exists. Hardcoding the file path (not an option for the solution) does not work, too. any ideas or hints? Thanks, Enrico

  • .Net User Messaging System

    - by bechbd
I am wondering if there is a framework out there for .NET to help me with sending messages to users. I would love to be able to write all my messages to a single repository. I would then like to be able to send these messages out to a user based on preferences that they set. e.g. I would like to be able to send a Notification A out to user A via email and text message and send Notification B to user B via SMS and IM. Any thoughts on if something like this exists or would I need to write it?

  • .NET template class instance - passing a variable data type

    - by FerretallicA
As the title suggests, I'm tyring to pass a variable data type to a template class. Something like this: frmExample = New LookupForm(Of Models.MyClass) 'Works fine Dim SelectedType As Type = InstanceOfMyClass.GetType() 'Works fine frmExample = New LookupForm(Of SelectedType) 'Ba-bow! frmExample = New LookupForm(Of InstanceOfMyClass.GetType()) 'Ba-bow! LookupForm<Models.MyClass> frmExample; Type SelectedType = InstanceOfMyClass.GetType(); frmExample = new LookupForm<SelectedType.GetType()>(); //Ba-bow frmExample = new LookupForm<(Type)SelectedType>(); //Ba-bow I'm assuming it's something to do with the template being processed at compile time but even if I'm off the mark there, it wouldn't solve my problem anyway. I can't find any relevant information on using Reflection to instance template classes either. (How) can I create an instance of a dynamically typed repository at runtime?

  • Anyone succeeded at injecting Interfaces into Entity Framework 4 Entities, using T4?

    - by Ciel
    Hello: POCO sort of leaves me wanting: (how can I say I use DI/IoC, if the Repository is not the only place that is creating the entities?)...hence my desire to lock it down, get rid of the temptation of newing up POCOs or EntityObjects anywhere in the code, and just allowing entity interfaces above the Repository/Factory layer. For a second there, I nearly thought I had it...was editing EF4's T4 in order to inject in an Interface def. Was going swimmingly, compiled and worked, until I got to the Associations... I wrapped them with a ICollection, and renamed the underlying original collection with a prefix of Wrapped. Unfortunately, when run, throws an error: //The Member 'WrappedSubExamples' in the CLR type 'XAct.App.Data.Model.EF4.Example' is not present in the conceptual model type 'XAct.App.Data.Model.Entity.Example'. var examples = context2.CreateObjectSet(); My T4 segment I used was (this may not work, as it's the longest code snippet I've ever posted here...sorry): #region Generic Property Abstraction <# if (navProperty.ToEndMember.RelationshipMultiplicity == RelationshipMultiplicity.Many) {#> //XAct.App Generic Wrapper: <#=code.SpaceAfter(NewModifier(navProperty))#><#=Accessibility.ForProperty(navProperty)#> ICollection<I<#=MultiSchemaEscape(navProperty.ToEndMember.GetEntityType(), code)#>> <#=code.Escape(navProperty)#> { get { if (_X<#=code.Escape(navProperty)# == null){ _X<#=code.Escape(navProperty)# = new WrappedCollection,<#=MultiSchemaEscape(navProperty.ToEndMember.GetEntityType(), code)#(this.<#=(navProperty.ToEndMember.RelationshipMultiplicity == RelationshipMultiplicity.Many)?"Wrapped":""#<#=code.Escape(navProperty)#); } return _X<#=code.Escape(navProperty)#; } } private ICollection _X<#=code.Escape(navProperty)#; <# } else { # <#=code.SpaceAfter(NewModifier(navProperty))#<#=Accessibility.ForProperty(navProperty)# I<#=MultiSchemaEscape(navProperty.ToEndMember.GetEntityType(), code)# <#=code.Escape(navProperty)# { get { return (I<#=code.Escape(navProperty)#)this.Wrapped<#=code.Escape(navProperty)#; } set { this.Wrapped<#=code.Escape(navProperty)# = value as <#=code.Escape(navProperty)#; } } <# } # #endregion which then wraps the original collection, renamed with the prefix 'Wrapped': /// <summary> /// <#=SummaryComment(navProperty)#> /// </summary><#=LongDescriptionCommentElement(navProperty, region.CurrentIndentLevel) #> [XmlIgnoreAttribute()] [SoapIgnoreAttribute()] [DataMemberAttribute()] [EdmRelationshipNavigationPropertyAttribute("<#=navProperty.RelationshipType.NamespaceName#>", "<#=navProperty.RelationshipType.Name#>", "<#=navProperty.ToEndMember.Name#>")] <# if (navProperty.ToEndMember.RelationshipMultiplicity == RelationshipMultiplicity.Many) { #> <#=code.SpaceAfter(NewModifier(navProperty))#><#=Accessibility.ForProperty(navProperty)#> EntityCollection<<#=MultiSchemaEscape(navProperty.ToEndMember.GetEntityType(), code)#>> Wrapped<#=code.Escape(navProperty)#> { <#=code.SpaceAfter(Accessibility.ForGetter(navProperty))#>get { return ((IEntityWithRelationships)this).RelationshipManager.GetRelatedCollection<<#=MultiSchemaEscape(navProperty.ToEndMember.GetEntityType(), code)#>>("<#=navProperty.RelationshipType.FullName#>", "<#=navProperty.ToEndMember.Name#>"); } <#=code.SpaceAfter(Accessibility.ForSetter(navProperty))#>set { if ((value != null)) { ((IEntityWithRelationships)this).RelationshipManager.InitializeRelatedCollection<<#=MultiSchemaEscape(navProperty.ToEndMember.GetEntityType(), code)#>>("<#=navProperty.RelationshipType.FullName#>", "<#=navProperty.ToEndMember.Name#>", value); } } } <# } else { #> <#=code.SpaceAfter(NewModifier(navProperty))#><#=Accessibility.ForProperty(navProperty)#> <#=MultiSchemaEscape(navProperty.ToEndMember.GetEntityType(), code)#> Wrapped<#=code.Escape(navProperty)#> { <#=code.SpaceAfter(Accessibility.ForGetter(navProperty))#>get { return ((IEntityWithRelationships)this).RelationshipManager.GetRelatedReference<<#=MultiSchemaEscape(navProperty.ToEndMember.GetEntityType(), code)#>>("<#=navProperty.RelationshipType.FullName#>", "<#=navProperty.ToEndMember.Name#>").Value; } <#=code.SpaceAfter(Accessibility.ForSetter(navProperty))#>set { ((IEntityWithRelationships)this).RelationshipManager.GetRelatedReference<<#=MultiSchemaEscape(navProperty.ToEndMember.GetEntityType(), code)#>>("<#=navProperty.RelationshipType.FullName#>", "<#=navProperty.ToEndMember.Name#>").Value = value; } } <# string refPropertyName = navProperty.Name + "Reference"; if (entity.Members.Any(m => m.Name == refPropertyName)) { // 6017 is the same error number that EntityClassGenerator uses.   • Does Ivy's url resolver support transitive retrieval?

    - by Sean
    For some reason I can't seem to resolve the dependencies of my dependencies when using a url resolver to specify a repository's location. However, when using the ibiblio resolver, I am able to retrieve them. For example: <!-- Ivy File --> <ivy-module version="1.0"> <info organisation="org.apache" module="chained-resolvers"/> <dependencies> <dependency org="commons-lang" name="commons-lang" rev="2.0" conf="default"/> <dependency org="checkstyle" name="checkstyle" rev="5.0"/> </dependencies> </ivy-module> <!-- ivysettings file --> <ivysettings> <settings defaultResolver="chained"/> <resolvers> <chain name="chained"> <url name="custom-repo"> <ivy pattern="http://my.internal.domain.name/ivy/[organisation]/[module]/[revision]/ivy-[revision].xml"/> <artifact pattern="http://my.internal.domain.name/ivy/[organisation]/[module]/[revision]/[artifact]-[revision].[ext]"/> </url> <url name="ibiblio-mirror" m2compatible="true"> <artifact pattern="http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/pub/mirrors/maven2/[organisation]/[module]/[revision]/[artifact]-[revision].[ext]" /> </url> <ibiblio name="ibiblio" m2compatible="true"/> </chain> </resolvers> </ivysettings> <!-- checkstyle ivy.xml file generated from pom via ivy:install task --> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ivy-module version="1.0" xmlns:m="http://ant.apache.org/ivy/maven"> <info organisation="checkstyle" module="checkstyle" revision="5.0" status="release" publication="20090509202448" namespace="maven2" > <license name="GNU Lesser General Public License" url="http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt" /> <description homepage="http://checkstyle.sourceforge.net/"> Checkstyle is a development tool to help programmers write Java code that adheres to a coding standard </description> </info> <configurations> <conf name="default" visibility="public" description="runtime dependencies and master artifact can be used with this conf" extends="runtime,master"/> <conf name="master" visibility="public" description="contains only the artifact published by this module itself, with no transitive dependencies"/> <conf name="compile" visibility="public" description="this is the default scope, used if none is specified. However, when attempting to exclusively use the "custom-repo" or "ibiblio-mirror" resolvers, I am able to resolve my project's two explicitly defined dependencies, but not checkstyle's dependencies. Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to branch with TortoiseHG

    - by Michael Tiller
I downloaded TortoiseHg 1.0 for evaluation. For the life of me I can't figure out how to make a branch. It seems to understand branches (e.g. in its repository browser) but I just can't seem to find a way to make a branch. This seems like such a fundamental capability since out of the often touted benefits of DVC is the lightweight branching. I Googled around and couldn't find much discussion of this topic (at least for recent versions) so I have to assume I'm missing something, right?

  • Change the current branch to master in git

    - by Karel Bílek
I have a repository in git. I made a branch, then did some changes both to the master and to the branch. Then, tens of commits later, I realized the branch is in much better state than the master, so I want the branch to "become" the master and disregard the changes on master. I cannot merge it, because I don't want to keep the changes on master. What should I do? (this will very possibly be a duplicate question, since it is trivial, but I have not found it here)

  • To Wrap or Not to Wrap: Wrapping Data Access in a Service Facade

    - by PureCognition
For a while now, my team and I have been wrapping our data access layer in a web service facade (using WCF) and calling it from the business logic layer. Meanwhile, we could simply use the repository pattern where the business logic layer consumes the data access layer locally through an interface, and at any point in time, we can switch things out for it to hit a service instead (if necessary). The question is: When is it a good time to wrap the data access layer in a service facade and when isn't it? Right now, it seems like the main advantage is that other applications can consume the service, but if they are internal applications written in .NET then they can just consume the .NET assembly instead. Are there other advantages of having the DAL be wrapped in a service that I am unaware of?

  • Requesting information from the user inside a GTK main loop

    - by Victor Stanciu
Hello, I am learning Python by building a simple PyGTK application that fetches data from some SVN repositories, using pysvn. The pysvn Client has a callback you can specify that it calls when Subversion needs authentication information for a repository. When that happens, I would like to open a dialog to ask the user for the credentials. The problem is, it seems the callback is called inside the GTK main loop, so it's basically called on every tick. Is there a way to prevent this? Perhaps by opening the dialog in a new thread? But then how do I return the tuple with the user data to the callback so it can return it to the pysvn.Client?

  • Removing zombie locks in Subversion

    - by ThatBlairGuy
I'm trying to find a way to remove zombie locks using the Subversion command line tools. The eventual goal is to do this from a hook script, but I haven't been able to work out the command line to use when you only have a physical repository path. (Using svnadmin rmlocks only seems to work for locks which exist in the HEAD revision.) Ideally, I'd like to do this via the post-commit hook script using the command line tools. (I'm aware of the python script for this purpose, but we'd prefer not to install python on that server for this single use.) We're a .NET shop, so creating a tool with the SharpSVN library is also a possibility, but the only unlock capability there appears to be in the SVNClient class. So it's really two questions: Is there a way to do this with the command line tools? If not, is there a way to do it from SharpSVN? (Or perhaps another library?)

  • What is an SSH key?

    - by acidzombie24
I signed up for github and notice the ssh key option which looked interesting. I originally expected something like an ssl key (name, co name, etc). After going through it i notice i only put a password and it is always myuser@comp-name (this is windows). Why? I thought it was a user/pass id and i can create separate keys for separate purpose for privacy reasons. Now i see i am required to use one to create a repository. Also i see something about a 'private key file' when looking at options. What exactly is an SSH Key and how can i create a separate user without creating a separate login in windows.

  • Missing artifact error in Maven

Now the property itself is declared in the parent pom and my project's build fails giving this error: [ERROR] Failed to execute goal on project abc: Unable to get dependency information for xyz:pqr:jar:SNAPSHOT: Failed to process POM for xyz:pqr:jar:SNAPSHOT: Non-resolvable parent POM xyz:pqr-parent:${someversion} for xyz:pqr:${someversion}: Failed to resolve POM for xyz:pqr-parent:${someversion} due to Missing: ---------- 1) xyz:pqr-parent:pom:${someversion} ---------- 1 required artifact is missing. for artifact: xyz:pqr-parent:pom:${someversion} I have verified that the artifacts are present in correct location in the repository. Is there a way to specify the value of someversion property used in the dependency pom? If not, how should the dependency pom be changed to resolve the error?

  • create an empty branch

Hello, Subversion 1.6 Ubuntu 10.4 I have a project with the following repository layout. proj/trunk proj/branches/new_feature1/ proj/branches/new_feature2/ proj/tags However, I would like to create a small test app, that isn't a new feature. Just just testing a small aspect of the project. I would like to create this test_app on a new branch. However, I don't want to have to copy from trunk to branch. I just want to create a new empty branch so that I can develop this test_app. Is there any way to do this? Many thanks for any suggestions,

  • mvc 2.0 updatemodel and my ID Column

    - by femi
Hello, I have created a create view within my MVC 2.0 Application and by default it included a field for the integer ID Column. This is definitely a field i do not need. If i remove the field and use updatemodel when trying to create the object in code, will something break because it doesnt see my ID column data being passed in, even though it is auto increment? Also, i noticed that in the NerdDinner example, updatemodel was used and after that the repository.save method was called. I thought that updatemodel would save the object to the database..why then call the .save method afterwards? Or have i missed something? Any help with this would be appreciated. Cheers

  • Why does Git display certain new folders when checking out old revisions?

    - by ConnorG
Hey all - I'm still learning the ropes of Git (love it!) but the other day I noticed some behavior I just do not understand. We have, in essence, three folders that got moved into the repository at different times (one immediately after we created the repo, one a little while later, and one just recently). Recently, I had to get some code out of an old revision. I used git checkout <old SHA1 hash> to pull up one of our first checkins, when I noticed Git showed the old folder (as it should), as well as the newest folder (which got added to the repo long after the checked out commit was made). But it did not show the second folder. What would cause Git to display the newest folder with the old revision?

  • How do you get subversion diff summary to ignore mergeinfo properties?

    - by tolomea
I have subversion 1.6.5 client and 1.5.4 server. And I mostly only care about diffs on fully repository paths, not working copies. When diffing branches ones that have been merged already show up as identical except for the mergeinfo properties. This is a touch annoying for a human who has to then look through the changes looking for anything that might be a real change. However it's somewhat worse in out use case as we have scripts that run around checking on the merge state of various things and the mergeinfo properties cause them to highlight a lot of things as being out of sync when they aren't. Is there a way to get the diff summary to ignore the mergeinfo properties?

  • Deploy maven generated site on Google Code svn?

    - by xamde
Using a google code svn as a basic maven repository is easy. However, using mvn site:deploy efficiently on google code seems hard. So far, I found only these solutions: * Deploy to a local file:/// and use a PERL script to delete the old and copy the new * Use wagen-svn to deploy. This is very slow (hours!) and does not delete old files * Plus all mime-types are wrong I am looking for a solution that allows new developers in my projects to check out the current source and just use it, without requiring to install PERL or learn weird steps to perform or wait hours.

  • Subversion: Ignore a Directory in the Repo on Commit

    - by Charles
I have all the boost header files in this repository and when I do a check in it takes a really long time to scan all those files that will never change. Because I want users that checkout the project to be able to compile without installing boost I am in a pickle. I want to checkout everything, and then ignore updates (there will never be any) on a directory. Tortoise svn has a ignore-on-commit change list, but I cannot find anyway to add an entire directory to this list, and I do not fancy the idea of 'modifying' all the boost files so I can add them to this change list. Is there a simple solution?
