  I would like in my GNUmakefile to have a target rule that invokes a new shell and then with the clean slate of the new shell invokes a new make. What is the syntax to do this?   hi i am comletly new to iis and asp.net i am trying to setup bugNET on a godaddy server. i created a virtual directory and once i tried to launch the site i get this error: Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. here is complete detail of what i did. hosting: godaddy created virtual directory (child folder of root) - named: devbunk with these settings (anonymous access, directory browsing) that is all i can do to with iis on godaddy. the error tells me that i need to turn the virtual directory as an application. godaddy doesnt let me do that... how do i do it? btw, i have iis7 setup.

Using the standard new SqlSyncProvider Do I make the structural changes at both ends? Or do I only change one server and let Sync Framework somehow propagate the change? • Rails table inheritance issue

  I've setup some models in the table inheritance fashion and everything seems to be all fine and dandy. But, when I use a collection select field to select values from one of the models it saves it but it saves the ID of the data and not the actual value of the data. So when I try to display the value on the show view it just shows the corresponding ID and not the actual value. Here is my setup. I'm using formtastic as a side note.   I am really fond of python's capability to do things like this: if __name__ == '__main__': #setup testing code here #or setup a call a function with parameters and human format the output #etc... This is nice because I can treat a Python script file as something that can be called from the command line but it remains available for me to import its functions and classes into a separate python script file easily without triggering the default "run from the command line behavior". Does Powershell have a similar facility that I could exploit? And if it doesn't how should I be organizing my library of function files so that i can easily execute some of them while I am developing them?

On 1 I have configuration for replication (publication), and I would like to setup Express version like subscriber. but I can't to connect to publisher SQL Server replication requires the actual server name to make a connection to the server. Specify the actual server name, 'XXXX'. (Replication.Utilities) I have tried to cheat and added XXXX server name to hosts file, but it dos't help. • SSRS mysterious extra pages

  I have two reports that are setup with the same page dimensions- A4 portrait, with page margins of 1cm. When I run the reports seperately and print them they both come out as expected: fitting into the width constraint of the page. However, when I include one report as a subreport in the other and then run and print the "master" report I start to experience problems. Even though both reports appear I get extra blank pages appearing every other page in the output. I'm sure I'm missing a simple trick - probably with the page sizes of the two reports but I can't figure it out - any pointers? I don't mind changing the setup of the subreport as it will never be run as a seperate eport in the wild, I only included that step to prove that it did indeed fit within the page!

• Tab Bar and Nav Controller: Where did I go wrong in my Interface Builder wiring?

  Even if you don't know how I've shot myself in the foot, a story which I've tried to lay out below, if you think I've done a good job showing the parameters of my problem I'd appreciate an upvote so that I might be able to grab some attention for my question. I've been working on an iPhone application in XCode and Interface Builder of the Tab Bar project type. After getting a table view of topics (business sectors) working fine I realized that I would need to add a Navigation Control to allow the user to drill into a subtopics (subsectors) table. As a green Objective-C developer, that was confusing, but I managed to get it working by reading various documentation trying out a few different IB options. My current setup is a Tab Bar Controller with Tab 1 as a Navigation Controller and Tab 2 a plain view with a Table View placed into it. The wiring works: I can log when table rows are selected and I'm ready to push a new View Controller onto the stack so that I can display the subtopics Table View. My problem: For some reason the first tab's Table View is a delegate and dataSource of the second ta. It doesn't make sense to me and I can't figure out why that's the only setup that works. Here is the wiring: Navigation Controller (Sectors) is a delegate of Tab Bar Navigation Bar is a delegate of Navigation Controller (Sectors) View Contoller (Sectors) has a view of Table View Table View (in Navigation Controller (Sectors)) is a delegate of First View Controller (Companies) Table View (in Navigation Controller (Sectors)) is a dataSource outlet of First View Controller (Companies) First View Controller (Companies) First View Contoller (Sectors) has a view of Table View Table View (in First View Controller (Companies)) is not hooked up to a dataSource outlet and is not a delegate When I click the tab buttons and look at the Inspector I see that the first tab is correctly hooked up to my MainWindow.xib and the second tab has selected a nib called SecondView.xib. It's in the File's Owner of MainWindow.xib where I inherit UITableViewDataSource and UITableViewDelegate (and also UITabBarControllerDelegate) in the .h, and in the .m where I implement the delegate methods. Why does this setup only work when the Table View in my first tab (View Controller (Sectors)) is a delegate and dataSource of the second tab? I'm confused: why wouldn't it need to be hooked up to the Navigation Controller-enabled tab in which the Table View is seen (Navigation Controller (Sectors))? The Table View seen on the second tab has neither dataSource and is not a delegate. • RMO on Windows 7 - The Specified module could not be found

  My machine: Windows XP (x86), VS2008, .net 3.5, sql server 2005, WinForms - App works fine. Production Machines: Windows 7 (x64), SQl Server 2005 Express - App Starts but throws exception Visual Studio Targeting x86 on setup project and RMO project. Visual Studio gives me a a couple warnings but I can still build: Unable to find dependency 'MICROSOFT.SQLSERVER.MANAGEMENT.SQLPARSER' (Signature='89845DCD8080CC91' Version='10.0.0.0') of assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.dll' Unable to find dependency 'MICROSOFT.SQLSERVER.MANAGEMENT.SQLPARSER' (Signature='89845DCD8080CC91' Version='10.0.0.0') of assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.SmoMetadataProvider.dll' This is a simple RMO (Replication Management Objects) app that initiates a pull subscription in SQL Server 2005 and displays status. Works fine on my machine, but fails on the production machine. I'm using a setup project to install the app on the production machine, but I think I'm missing a dependency somewhere, but I can't figure it out. On the production machine the app starts fine, but when I try to synch the subscription i get: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The Specified module could not be found. (Exception from HResult: 0x8007007E)

• SQLCe local db in temp- path in connectionstring?

  Hi, I have SQL Ce db in my app, which is included in my app directory. While debugging its OK, but when published and run with setup.exe, it retrieves "file not found" in temporary directory the app is ran from. I would like to run from standard location, but I dont know how to change it. I am using this string: SqlCeConnection connection = new SqlCeConnection("Data Source=database.sdf;Persist Security Info=False;"); When I run setup.exe, the app never starts, stating that in its temporary directory the db file was not found. When I run app.exe, it works. I do not understand it...:( EDIT: I can see that in the VS project settings, there is connection string and there is "Data Source=|DataDirectory|\Database.sdf" The path should be something like local directory? Thanks!

  I Need to use nltk and numpy with Python. I am a newbie to Python and initially used the python 2.7.3 that came with my mac (currently running OSX 10.7.5). I learned that the apple version of python may not be robust so I downloaded the standard version from python.org. I have downloaded the nltk program for Mac OSX 10.7. This seemed to install fine. I am trying to download and install numpy using the instructions from the scipy website. http://www.scipy.org/Installing_SciPy/Mac_OS_X. I cloned numpy from github but when I tried to build it using the following command $ python setup.py build I received the following error MacOS/Python: can't open file 'setup.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory I also tried to build it using the scons command $ python setupscons.py scons --jobs=2 and received the following error /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/Resources/Python.app/Contents/MacOS/Python: can't open file 'setupscons.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory Can anyone think of a possible workaround?

  I've been very confused as to how to set permissions and user/groups for my sites. It is particularly one of my weakest suits My curent problem is that I often find myself running into a situation where if i view a particular page, it won't have permissions to write to cache or logs. At this point I'll set the ownership towards apache. Then, in other cases, if i try to run internal scripts, for example, I can't write to these cache/log files because i set them for apache. Currently, my symfony2 files are all registered to me as a part of staff (Handonam:Staff). I've seen various people creating groups such as www-data, apache, etc, and using users such as theirselves (e.g. Handonam) or www as a part of those groups. So my question is: For symfony2 and other web projects, what's generally the best setup for user/group setup so that both apache and myself can interact with these files, while maintaining decent security?

• Windows Installer (C#) error code 2869

  I have a project, in VS 2005, which has a console application and a setup project associated to install the application. I also have an installer class in the console application that the setup project will use to do some validation before installation. Those tasks are checking the database connection string and checking some directory locations to make sure they exist prior to installation. I am getting an error code of 2869 when I try to install the application. All the code is written in C#. I have googled for this error code on Windows XP, but only found articles that deal with Vista and Windows 7. Any ideas what might be happening? Is there a workaround?

  I'm not sure if I can't find this or if my google-fu is just lacking at the moment: I've got some HTML template files included in a package, with the following MANIFEST.in: recursive-include flockdoc/templates *.html In development, I'm including these (for Jinja) by doing path calculations, assuming that the "templates" directory is next to a certain file. When the package is installed with setup.py (using setuptools) the templates aren't copied into site-packages with the code. I understand that they're supposed to be somewhere like dist-packages, but none of the documentation I can find is pointing me to where the actual files are. It's also not giving me "best practice" for including these in my code. Any suggestions would be welcome there. the setup.py in question So: where are my files?

  I have a small string of some data (less than 1kb) that I would like to have user agents pass to other sites when they are sent from my site. In order for the other sites to verify that I was the one that created the string I though of two options. The server pings me back to confirm (like paypal, openid, etc..) I use public/private keys to prove I sent the message (like PGP, DKIM, etc..) I don't want to setup HMAC because that would mean I have to use custom keys for each site which would be a pain. Out of those two choices it seems that #2 would save on bandwidth which makes it seem like a better choice. So how can you setup public/private key cryptography using PHP and are there any downsides?

  Do you see database triggers / referential integrity rules being used in a way that changes actual data in the database (changing row w in table x causes a change in row y in table z)? If yes, How does this tie-in with the increasing popularity of in-memory caching (memcache and friends)? After all, these actions occur inside the database but the caching system must be aware of them in order to reflect to correct state (or at least invalidate the possibly changed state). I find it hard to believe that callbacks are implemented for such cases. Does anyone have real-world experience with such a setup / real-world experience with considering such a setup and abandoning it (which way did you go? if caching, how do you enforce integrity?)

  Whenever I start a new game, I make a whole bunch of classes that extend my base classes, so: com.blah.Game extends com.iainlobb.Game and has some setup code com.blah.Player extends com.iainlobb.Player, and has some setup code etc Now all I need is a way to generate these classes at the start of the project so I don't have to create each one manually. It will save me at least an hour of faffing around per game. So how do I do it?   Quick question: You are building a setup for your application. The application contains a custom control developed by you, which will be shared across multiple applications. How should you package the custom control? Package the control in a Merge Module (.msm) and add the .msm file to a Windows Installer project. Package the control into a cabinet project (.cab) and add the .cab file to a Windows Installer project. Create a separate directory for the control and then package it in a Windows Installer project along with the rest of the project files. Package the control as a Web setup project and create a link to that project from the Windows Installer project. Any ideas?

  PLEASE READ THE FULL QUESTION BEFORE POST YOUR ANSWER Hello guys! I'm currently developing a "Extremelly customized Installer Application" in C# for installing a old classic ASP application. It'll be used during the 2.0 version is developed (ASP.NET MVC with C#). As its so different from the efault install packages, I've made it as normal windows application, not as setup application (a setup application don't let us customize so much as I need). And here is the problem: As its a windows application, I must "Release" it and send the compiled .EXE with the .DLLs, I must not "Publish" because if i do so, the published .EXE will "install the installer" and not my application. I need a way to verify and install the .NET Framework 3.5 like a bootstrap package prerequisite used in publishing option, but remember that I'm not publishing, I'm doing a "Release" build.
