• Is the UX affected negatively by fully cacheable pages?

  I want to have fully cacheable pages in my websites, but one cannot do that if they contain user-specific data, like the userbar or things in the UI that can change depending on the permissions the user has. So I was thinking whether it was possible to pull everything that is user-specific via ajax, and update the UI accordingly. But I'm worried that this might be annoying for the user, and also it might be difficult to develop. What do you think? Is there a pattern or something I can follow to deal with this?

So I was thinking what should I demo tonight?Hmm!!!Instead of using any slides or such material, what I thought would be a tonne of fun, would be to develop a service bus based application running in Azure. This will be a good opportunity to code and talk, and run into some snafus and show off some VS2012 improvements/annoyances. • Developing Games for Samsung Smart TV

  We are planning to develop a game for Samsung Smart TVs. Although those TVs support Flash and HTML5 other specs fail at supporting a game engine. For ex: Using an engine that needs GPU is not possible with the default Samsung smart tv set. Or... WebGL is supported with Samsung SDK 4.1 but we don't know if SDK 4.1 is available for Smart TV series between 7000-9000 or not. We have tried to communicate with Samsung but they don't really seem to respond. Is there anyone who has developed a game for Samsung Smart TVs? If there is, can you name the game engines that can work with those TVs?

  I want to develop a browser-game (like ogame, travian) and I have some doubts in which technologies should I use. I was thinking in a server-side in JSP,Java and a client-side in HTML (or HTML5 if I learn to give it good use). Do you think my choices are right? I would like to make a board where many players could move simultaneously between tiles or squares. Do you think is possible in JSP or I should start with other language? • URL subfolder rewrite without server access

  I am having trouble with the following. I have a site in development that has every link on the site pointing to the wrong folder. Example: example.com/en/home/, a site link goes to example.com/en/, which throws a 404. Now the way the system is setup requires server access but I do not have that and I/S is backlogged with requests and will take a week. But I still need to develop the site. So is there a way to have the browser recognize when example.com/en/ is clicked then automatically redirect it to example.com/en/home so it bypasses the 404 and I can actually work. Im looking for anything that gets the job done. I am considering developing a Chrome app to do this but that would mean a shit ton of overtime and more work I don't want to do. Is there a easier way of doing this?

• Change the scale-policy of OpenGL ES in Android?

  I currently develop a game for Android in OpenGL ES 1.0, use libgdx library. I target the 720x480 screen size. For example, I design only one arts pack for 720x480. And what will happen in Android phones with screen-size smaller or bigger than it, 480x320 for instance? Could you please tell me how to change the scale-policy of OpenGL ES in Android? Or in libgdx specially? Is there anything like "Resample Image" like photoshop?(Nearest Neighbor, Bilinear, Bicubic etc..) for libgdx? Edit: I found some tutorials about texture filter in OpenGL, test it with Linear and Nearest. Linear is good for scaling but slow down the game, and Nearest is on the contrary. What should I do to get a balance between those?

• Using a GPL licensed library in a commercial app

  I develop an android application and in my app I use a libary (jar) that I download from the internet. This jar is open-source under the "GNU General Public License v2". I tried to read the text of the license but had difficulty understanding it. My question is: can I use this libary without changing nothing in the jar in a commercial application? I will be making profit from selling my app which uses this GPL-ed .jar file. If possible, I would like to avoid converting my application to open-source.

  What should drive the decision behind doing development upon one or more than one framework? For instance, an ERP is (mostly) run on a Windows station. It leverages full access to device's resources, like printers, barcode readers, fingerprint readers and the like. It's usually more responsive and easier do develop with. That being said, some parts of it must be accessed exclusively in self-service mode, by enterprise's customers, suppliers and partners. This could be accomplished with smartphones, tablets, or even desktops running a web browser. What are the economics behind that? Should two team be kept, each one doing work upon its own framework? Or the most permissive framework should be chosen? Should I care something other than HTML technologies? Should I consider native technology for each device?

My prospect has separate investors that will fund the implementation. The prospect wants to know how much I will charge for the implementation so that he knows how much to ask the investors for. Before I can estimate reliably I need to work with the prospect to develop an implementation plan. This planning work will take time that I want to charge for. The prospect doesn't have enough money to pay me until the investment. I want to make sure I am paid for the planning. How can I resolve this?

  We have a peculiar requirement and our site is in magento. Requirement We want the user to fill in a personal information form with their image. After that, the user should be redirected to a product subscription page where he can select either 3 month, 6 month or on yearly basis. Now, when the selection is made, the user should make the payment via our payment method. How can I develop this? I am not able to figure it out.   I want to develop an app for ubuntu, that integrates inside the calendar indicator/menu. It should allow to enter info right from it, and have several controls like input boxes, drop downs, spinners and buttons. Is this possible to integrate/replace the standard date/time indicator? If not, is it possible to create it as a separate indicator that when clicked opens a popup with all the controls and stuff? • Best Graphics card (Setup) for three, high-res monitors attached to desktop

  I have been looking around a little bit, but most of the discussions are about problems with already existing systems (particular graphics card and setup etc.). I would like to ask what would be the best option for me if I want to build powerful desktop with triple monitor setup. I have one Dell UltraSharp U2713HM (27 inches, 2560x1440) and I was thinking about getting two more. Would it be possible to have those three working with ubuntu (kubuntu) on any graphics card out there today? What is the best option if it comes to choosing particular model? Should I use proprietary drivers or some open sourced ones? I am not a gamer. I mostly develop on my machines and running some computational tasks, but I would rather like to spend some more money and have setup where I don't see any lags :) thank You very much in advance! • Algorithm to Sort member into groups

  I'll have to develop an application which the final purpose is to sort all the member into groups. Each group will have the same size. And I had to put the members into the groups several times during the execution of the program. To put the member into the groups, a lot of critria are to be look at, because we do not want that two people are put again together two time in the same execution of the program, of course if it's the only way to find a correct solution, it' fine, and there is a lot of other criteria, like some people can be willing to be always with another member. So to resume, we have n members to put in groups of size 8. After the first "round" we have to do again the algorithm to sort them differently. And a lot of critria may go in the calculation of the priority of each member Do you have any idea?

Tasks check every minute with a third party application through web services, retrieving data which is written in the database, then the data is forwarded to it's original destination.
