• Custom dropdown for CComboBox

  I'm trying to create a custom dropdown for a derivative of CComboBox. The dropdown will be a calendar control plus some 'hotspots', e.g. So I figure the best way to achieve this is to have a simple CWnd-derived class which acts as the parent to the calendar control, and have it paint the hotspots itself. The window needs to be a popup window - I think - rather than a child window so that it isn't clipped. But doing this causes the dialog (on which the combobox control is placed) to stop being the topmost (foreground?) window, leading to its frame being drawn differently: This spoils the illusion that the dropdown is part of the combobox since its acting more like a modal dialog at this point. Any suggestions on how I make the custom dropdown behave like the regular dropdown? Are there any other pitfalls I need to watch out for, e.g. focus and mouse capture issues?

• Adding additional components to a web page after rendering by Wicket

  I have a requirement to create a web page using Wicket 1.5, which can present a variable number of panels to capture user input. All the panels have the same structure. The page would start off with one panel, and includes a button to dynamically add more as required. So the number of panels is unknown at the time the page is initially rendered. Effectively I'd be altering the structure of the page dynamically. This is possible in Javascript, using document.addElement() I've done a similar thing in the past by creating all the components on page load, and selectively showing/hiding components. The difference here is that the number of components (panels) is initially unknown. I'm unsure as to how this would be achieved with Wicket.

  Hello Everyone I am running Linux and I have some basic console knowledge but my current problem is quite difficult and I dont know how to achieve this. I want/need to rename everything within a folder that matches a given string. By everything I mean folders/files content within a file content in hidden files Basically I want to refactor a Java-project. Sure, I could use Eclipse to handle the replacing, but this leaves out the folders or resources outside of my workspace. I was thinking of a script that could do the job for me but this seems rather tricky. For instance when it comes to folder-/file-rename I want to replace only the part of the name that matches my string, the rest should remain untouched. Maybe someone already has something like this in his/her script-collection :-) Thanks in advance Marc

  Previously, on StackOverflow ... (Summarized) I need to capture all requests, for a particluar subdomain .. and rewrite their destination. Now, the trick to determining the host via regex was solved. Now, i need to make sure all requests to the root index page is rewritten, but i can't figure out the correct regex to find the 'homepage' / website root. this is what i have.... <if header="HTTP_HOST" match="^foo\.mydomain\.com\.au(?::\d+)?/?$"> <!-- snip some other rewrites, eg./buying/product -> ~/Pages/Foo/Bar.aspx --> <rewrite url="^/$" to="~/Pages/SomeWeirdFolder/Home.aspx" processing="stop"/> </if> Now if one of the rewrites were not found, then it falls through and continues. • Converting a .bat executable to Mac

  I need some help converting a .bat executable file that I run on our PC at my job so that it works on a mac. Before we upload tar files to our website we run this script which to the best of my knowledge simply unlocks all of the permissions to the tar and all the images within. If someone could help me in "translating" it to run on my Mac that would be awesome! You might have expected an instance of Array. • Iphone 3GS to laptop Syncing

  I use my Iphone calender to store all my appointments and customer information etc rather than my Outlook calender on my laptop most of the time. To the best of my knowledge I have never lost any info before, but after syncing the two devices today my calender is now empty on both. I had thought that syncing would mean taking the information on both devices, amalgamating it and populating both devices with the same info? Two questions: a) Is there anyway of retrieving the lost information? (or am I sunk?) b) Is there any way of averting such disaster in the future? Whilst I suspect that "Read the manual - Idiot!" would be the correct response, any help really is greatly appreciated!

It is a small company with a similar small server-environment, so the need for a huge, complex and expensive solution isn’t there but a more “straight-forward” firewall, that can provide the necessary security to our systems and block unwanted elements from the core server and only accept access through our one server which is used as an “gateway” between the Internet and our internal network.   I'm not very fluent with SQL Server commands. I need a script to restore a database from a .bak file and move the logical_data and logical_log files to a specific path. I can do: restore filelistonly from disk='D:\backups\my_backup.bak' This will give me a result set with a column LogicalName, next I need to use the logical names from the result set in the restore command: restore database my_db_name from disk='d:\backups\my_backups.bak' with file=1, move 'logical_data_file' to 'd:\data\mydb.mdf', move 'logical_log_file' to 'd:\data\mylog.ldf' How do I capture the logical names from the first result set into variables that can be supplied to the "move" command? I think the solution might be trivial, but I'm pretty new to SQL Server.

• Return database messages on successful SQL execution when using ADO

  I'm working on a legacy VB6 app here at work, and it has been a long time since I've looked at VB6 or ADO. One thing the app does is to executes SQL Tasks and then to output the success/failure into an XML file. If there is an error it inserts the text the task node. What I have been asked to do is try and do the same with the other mundane messages that result from succesfully executed tasks, like (323 row(s) affected). There is no command object being used, it's just an ADODB.Connection object.   I have some survey data which I'm using Stata to analyze. I want to compute means of one variable by group and save those means to a Stata file. My code looks like this: svyset [iw=wtsupp], sdrweight(repwtp1-repwtp160) vce(sdr) svy: mean x I tried svy: by grp: mean x but that did not work. I could save each mean to a separate file by simply saying svy: mean x if grp==1 but that's inefficient. Is there a better way? Saving results to a file like one can use SAS ODS to capture results is also a need. I am not talking about the log here. I need the means and the associated group. I'm thinking estimates save [path],replace but I'm not sure if that will give me a Stata file or the group if I can figure out how to use by processing.

• ASP.Net: Finding the cause of OutOfMemoryExpcetions

  I trying to track down the cause of an OutOfMemory for a website. This site has ~12,000 .aspx pages and the last time it crashed I captured a memory dump using adplus. After some investigation I found a lot of heap fragmentation, there are around 100MB of Free blocks which can't be assigned. Digging deeper one of the Large Object Heaps is fragmented and the causes seems to be String interning as described [here][1] Could this be caused by the number of pages in the site? As they are all compiled they sit in memory and by looking at the dump they are interned and PINNED which I think means they stick around for a while. I would find this odd as there are many sites with more pages, but dynamic compilation could account for the growth in memory. What other methods are there for finding the cause of the memory leak?   I am basically looking for a good guide on how to set up my home network with this set of hardware. I need: Dynamic DNS Firewall + port-forwarding VPN Wake-on-LAN from outside firewall VOIP would be nice QoS would be nice (make torrents take lower priority to other services when those other services are happening) DHCP Wireless + WPA2 security Ability to play multiplayer computer games I am not a networking or computing neophyte, but the last time I messed with network gear was a few years ago, so am needing to dust off knowledge I kinda half have. I have read that I should be wanting to set up the AM200 in half-bridge mode, so that the WRT54GL gets the WAN IP - this sounds like a good idea, but I'd still like to be advised. I have read that the dd-wrt firmware will meet my needs (though I gather I'll need the vpn-specific build, which appears to preclude supporting VOIP), but I'm not wedded to using it. I live in the UK and my ISP supplies me with: a block of 8 static IPs, of which 5 are usable to me a PPPoA ADSL2+ connection

• Can a power failure or forceful shutdown damage hardware?

  Can computer hardware suffer damage from forceful shutdowns (holding the power button for five (5) seconds) or power failures? I believe that normal PC hardware does not suffer from this - after all, it's not much different than what they experience under a standard shutdown. But elsewhere I've read tht another person thought that it could do physical harm to the hard drive and possibly other components as well. He also said that the journaling features of filesystems are useless in face of power failures and were intended to help mitigate damage from system crashes. I think this is nonsense, but then again I lack the experience and knowledge to say it with certainty.

• Windows 7 PC browsers having trouble to open certain sites but not others

  Hi, My Win7 PC these days acting very weird: Examples: It can not open bing.com, alexa.com, msdn.microsoft.com (blank page or page can not be found); It can open zdnet.com but lost all CSS layouts and pictures; It can open stackoverflow and Google no problem; I tried all three browsers (IE8, Chrome, Firefox 3.6) same thing. I didn't change anything on this PC in days. This PC does have Anti-Virus installed and updated. I'm also pretty sure it's not a network problem, because my other laptops are just fine at the same time. The only thing I can think of is it might be some auto-update stuff underneath happened without my knowledge, but I have no idea where to troubleshoot? Please shed some lights for me? Thanks a lot.

• How to tunnel port 25565 through SSH?

  I want to play a game which is hosted on port 25565 (minecraft!), but my university firewall does not allow this port. I have a dedicated server running linux not too far from uni, so I think there's a way to tunnel through it (but I've never done this before and have no knowledge/experience of tunnelling) It would probably be slow, but it's better than not being able to play at all. Is it possible to do using only SSH, or do I need other client/server software? My server has OpenSSH installed. Also, the computer I'm using to play the game is running Ubuntu. I've tried searching but there seem to be so many different solutions to different types of problem =/

• Pull image of rendered HTML from a specific browser

  I am working on an app that will be able to pull an image of rendered HTML from a specific browser. I would like the user to be able to select a specific browser to render an HTML file in, and capture the rendered output in an image file. I am starting with IE8, and I'm not sure where to begin to get the actual rendered output. I can easily open the file in that browser with Process.Start(), but I don't know how to return the rendered output. I have looked a little bit at sinking events, but I don't understand how that works or if that's the right way to go. I would just like some direction, and perhaps some resources to send me on the right path.

Shutting down."); resetEvent.Set(); }); And the output windows shows: 6/16/2010 3:24:34 PM: Control+C hit. Shutting down. ^C Is there a way to prevent the control-c character ^C from appearing? It's not a huge deal, but for some reason Ill be fixated on it because I'm anal like that.
