  • Deploying a Web Application from the command line

    Hi. Im looking to deploy a web application on a build server. It is a very small web app and so far i have written a nice little console app that checks out from SVN and then calls msbuild on the .sln file. This of course is not the same as publishing a web app and so far have not found a programatic way of publishing. So my question is this.. After msbuild has run can i simply delete all .cs and .vb files and then deploy? or Should i really try and find a way to publish programatically?

  • Is there a best coding style for indentations (same line, next line)?

    I prefer Pascal-like coding style, where the beginning and ending of a code block are on the same column. I think that it is easier to read and to handle cut and paste than the other kind of coding style.   • os.walk in python not running with cmd line parameter passed as path

    Hello, I needed to find the number of files in a folder on the system. This is what i used: file_count = sum((len(f) for _, _, f in os.walk('path'))) This works fine when we specify the path as a string in quotes, but when I enter a variable name that holds the path, type(file_count) is a generator object, and hence cannot be used as an integer. How to solve this and why does this happen?

I'm really looking for something like less that I can pipe my errors into that will collapse the template parameter lists by default, maybe with some nice highlighting so that my errors are actually readable. (Yes, it's boost's fault I have such incomprehensible errors, in case you were wondering)

  • How to break whenever any line of code executes

    I have a very strange bug, which I believe is caused by some code we have executing, but I'm not sure where. We can reproduce it to the point it happens whenever we click Tab, but short of putting a break point at the beginning of every method in the project to find out what is executing. Is there a way to set visual studio to break whenever anything executes? For those curious about the problem, every now and then, we have a few Rich Text Boxes that refuse to lose focus. You can't click out of it or tab out of it. We have no On Validation or On Text Changed events attached to the control, and believe it's an event attached somewhere else to something we just aren't noticing.

    I have two zip archives. Say, set1 has 10 csv files created using Mac OS X 10.5.8 compress option, and set2 has 4 csv files similarly created. I want to take the 4 files from zipped archive set2 and add them to list of files in archive set1. Is there a way I can do that? I tried the following in Terminal: zip set1.zip set2.zip This adds the whole archive set2.zip to set1.zip, i.e., in set1.zip now I have: file1.csv, file2.csv,..., file10.csv, set2.zip What I instead want is: file1.csv, file2.csv,..., file10.csv, file11.csv, ..., file14.csv where, set2.zip is the archive containing file11.csv, ..., file14.csv.     Um - I feel like an idiot, but.... ruby -e '3+5' Outputs nothing (Windows 7, Ruby 1.8.7, Cygwin or Git Bash). What am I missing? Extra credit - will this also allow the extra cool bundle (stolen from TextMate) Execute and Update # = markers to work properly? EDIT Ok that worked, and I'll accept the answer, but e-texteditor still doesn't work with that really cool bundle. Too bad.

    Hi I'm creating a systabcontrol32 control with the TCS_SINGLELINE style when I resize my window so the tab won't fit an up-down control appears that should allow me to scroll so I can see all the tabs. The thing is that the up-down buttons don't seem to work unless I add a the WS_HSCROLL property to the tab control witch makes it ugly as hell. It could be cool if the up-down could scroll the tabs without need to add the scrollbar (even more since the scroll bar doesn't seem to work, it just sits there and I can't click it).
