• LocalHost in share path?

  I am setting up in a test environment and need to save some paths in a database but dont want to edit the paths when we go to production. My idea being that I could create a share on both servers and use a generic name like LocalHost instead of TestServer for the paths. Example: \\LocalHost\Docs I have used a mapped drive temporarily but was curious if there is another magic word like localhost that works with share paths?

  I am trying to add a user to AD LDS (formerly known as ADAM). I added the user, set the password, and set the following properties: accountsExpires=(Never) msDS-UserAccountDisabled=FALSE msDS-UserDontExpirePassword=TRUE userPrincipalName=JUser I also added the user to Readers group. However, when I used ADSI Edit to bind to the directory with this user's credential, I got an error indicating invalid username or password. What else do I have to do for the user to authenticate?   I keep getting this error when trying to install TortoiseSVN on Windows 7. All Windows-help documents refer to Windows XP for this error code and they don't work with Windows 7. What does this message mean? Note: my version number is TortoiseSVN-1.6.7.18415-win32-svn-1.6.9 EDIT: just tried installing the latest stable of TortoiseGit(Link, 32-bit), same problem.

• Bugmenot (registration bypasser) alternative that doesn't suck?

  I used to love Bugmenot...but then they started blocking more and more sites. Now I'd say a good 75% of the time I try to find logins on bugmenot, the site is blocked. Is there a service like bugmenot that doesn't block sites? EDIT: For example, all of these sites require registration to download files, and all of them are blocked from BugMeNot. To be clear, this problem is because BugMeNot stops users from adding logins for them, not because of the individual sites themselves: dcemu.co.uk, ubuntuforums.org, club.cdfreaks.com

• Where can I find this hotfix?

  i have a video that i cannot render in Graph Edit: GSpot cannot render: and AVISynth's DirectShowSource cannot open: And yet Windows Media Player (12) can play it fine.   I am confused to why I have different information based on where I try to retrieve it from. I have 3 Windows 2012 servers (G0, G1, and G2) running Hyper-V. The following situation is captured from one server which I use to run scripts and control the others. The Hyper-V Manager application shows the same list as the PowerShell does. But if I run my scripts from the other two tools, which is what I mostly do, I don't have the same information available, therefore I can't manipulate the same VMs. I've also noticed that the Virtual Machine Manager shows the same list of VMs as the first two tools, PowerGUI and PowerShell ISE. Which information is valid? And how can I retrieve the correct list of VMs?   I use Outlook 2007 at home as an IMAP client and RSS feed reader. I have a problem that when I close outlook, the window exits, but the process remains running. This prevents me from opening outlook again and on Win7 prevents rapid shutdown of my computer. How can I have Outlook 2007 exit for real? • Word 2007 heading numbering incorrect

  I have a large-ish document (1.5MB, 105 pages) with headings provided by formatting styles. Everything was fine until some point in a recent edit and now the first H1 heading is 4 (the second 5 and so on). I've right clicked and selected Set Numbering Value at set it to 1, but it refuses to budge. Any tips? Thanks

• DNS "recursion not available" using a Cisco AnyConnect VPN connection

  Does anyone have experience with configuring Cisco AnyConnect VPN? We have a problem with client DNS name resolution when connected over VPN. To me, it looks as if the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client intercepts DNS queries from the clients. Can someone confirm that the AnyConnect VPN client in fact does this (intercepts DNS traffic)? Where is this configured on the VPN server? • DTaskManager Runtime '5' error?

  I really enjoy using DTaskManager as an alternative to Windows TaskManager, but recently I've been getting Runtime Error '5' messages. It looks like DTaskManager was programmed in Visual Basic 6, but it is quite powerful. I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise x64 so I suspect that the error might be coming from a Visual Basic runtime problem. I'm not sure which registry keys to edit to fix the Runtime Error '5' message.

• Does uninstalling psa-firewall (plesk firewall module) disable firewall?

  I have a dv server with media temple and the plesk firewall module is causing a tonne of grief, it use to work, not anymore... unable to edit firewall rules through the module etc. Does uninstalling this module, what i assume is known as the psa-firewall service prevent the firewall to work? its running centos 5 and the firewall looks to be iptables.
