  I've been trying iterate through the selected items of a listbox in WPF, with the following code; try { for (int i = 0; i < mylistbox.SelectedItems.Count; i++) { ListItem li = (ListItem)mylistbox.SelectedItems[i]; string listitemcontents_str = li.ToString(); } } catch(Exception e) { // Error appears here string error = e.ToString(); } However I receive an invalid cast exception; System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'mylist' to type 'System.Windows.Documents.ListItem'. Is there a way around this?

• List in velocity macro, cannot find contains method

  I put a list strings as validTypes in velocity. When I do : #if (${validTypes}.contains("aaa")) // do something #end it throws an error. But when I do : #foreach (${validType} in ${validTypes}) ${validType} #end it works fine. Do I need to use velocity tools for this? How do I use it in an eclipse plugin? Are there any work around without using velocity tools?

  I was bored today at school and so I tried to amuse myself using my calculator and a "game" I've invented which isn't really a game but keeps the boringness away. Also some time has passed since the last real code-golf here, so I decided to create this one. Imagine a simplified numpad like you know it from your phone (I'll leave the 0 out for this code-golf as it kinda destroys all the fun) 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Now the rules of the game were always: At the end every digit must have been visited exactly once You can start at any digit you want You can always move one digit up, down, left or right. You can't move diagonally! There a quite a lot of possible ways (or not; I haven't found out yet), here some trivial examples: > > v v < < > > | The output of the golf-program should look something like the above, I'll try to explain: Symbols: Go right < Go left ^ Go up v Go down | End of the way Example solutions: (Program output can either be the numbers pressed in the right order from beginning point to end, or an (ASCII) picture like above) 147852369 569874123 523698741 So if we speak out the example above it would be: Start at 1, move right to 2, move right to 3, go down to 6, go left to 5, go left to 4, go down to 7, go right to 8 then go right to 9 and we are finished! Now there are many different ways possible: You could as well start at 5 and go around it in a circle. So the task would be: Write a program that can compute (using brute-force or whatever) the possible solutions for the numpad problem described above. • Mongrel_rails can't find memcache-client

  We started to use memcache-client in our rails app and it works just fine with "script/server" but "mongrel_rails start" fails with an error. In environment.rb we define "memcache-client" and version "1.8.1". Gem list shows that the gem is installed: memcache-client (1.8.1). If run with "script/server" everything works but with "mongrel_rails start" it fails with error: no such file to load -- memcache-client Any advice what could be wrong here? Is there something different in the way mongrel_rails loads the gems compared to script/server? Or is my setup just broken?

• Find overdrawn accounts in SQL

  Hey guys, I have a program that allows me to run queries against a large database. I have two tables that are important right now, Deposits and withdraws. Each contains a history of every user. I need to take each table, add up every deposit and withdraws (per user), then subtract the withdraws from the deposits. I then need to return every user whos result is negative (aka they withdrew more then they deposited). Is this possible in one query? Example: Deposit Table: |ID|UserName|Amount| |1 | Use1 |100.00| |2 | Use1 |50.00 | |3 | Use2 |25.00 | |4 | Use1 | 5.00 | WithDraw Table: |ID|UserName|Amount| |2 | Use2 | 5.00 | |1 | Use1 |100.00| |4 | Use1 | 5.00 | |3 | Use2 |25.00 | So then the result would output: |OverWithdrawers| | Use2 | Is this possible (I sure don't know how to do it)? • Using Matlab to find maxima for data with a lot of noise

  I have noisy data set with three peaks in Matlab and want to do some image processing on it. The peaks are about 5-9 pixels wide at the base, in a 50 x 50 array. How do I locate the peaks? Matlab is very new to me. Here is what I have so far... For my original image, let's call it "array", I tried J = fspecial('gaussian',[5 5], 1.5); C = imfilter(array, J) peaks = imregionalmax(C); but there is still some noise along the baseline between the peaks so I end up getting a ton of local max that are really just noise values. (I tried playing with the size of the filter, but that didn't help.) I also tried peaks = imextendedmax(C,threshold); where the threshold was determined visually... which works but is definitely not a good way to do it since it's not that robust obviously. So, how do I locate these peaks in a robust way? Thanks.

• VB.NET - Find a Substring in an ArrayList, StringCollection or List(Of String)

  I've got some code that creates a list of AD groups that the user is a member of, with the intention of saying 'if user is a member of GroupX then allow admin access, if not allow basic access'. I was using a StringCollection to store this list of Groups, and intended to use the Contains method to test for membership of my admin group, but the problem is that this method only compares the full string - but my AD groups values are formatted as cn=GroupX, etc.... I want to be easily able to determine if a particular substring (i.e. 'GroupX') appears in the list of groups. I could always iterate through the groups check each for a substring representing my AD group name, but I'm more interested in finding out if there is a 'better' way. Clearly there are a number of repositories for the list of Groups, and it appears that Generics (List(Of String)) are more commonly preferred (which I may well implement anyway) but there is no in-built means of checking for a substring using this method either. Any suggestions? Or should I just iterated through the list of groups?

  This one is driving me nuts. According to GTK's site, there exists GTK_MAJOR_VERSION, GTK_MINOR_VERSION, and GTK_MICRO_VERSION constants. However, none of these work: echo GTK_MAJOR_VERSION; echo GtK::MAJOR_VERISON; echo Gtk::GTK_MAJOR_VERSION; etc Also, Gtk::check_version(2,12,0) always fails even though I have a higher version. I'd like to simply get the actual version number and not rely on check_version, which seems unreliable. How can I do this? I need to do it within PHP, platform independent.

Even I don't know how to see what dirs are on my PATH variable (and this is another good question that could be answered), what I'd like to know is: I come to shell and write: $ lshw I want to know a command on shell that can tell me WHERE this command is located. In other words, where this "executable file" is located? Something like: $ location lshw /usr/bin Anyone?
