    Hi, I have a linear layout in my main.xml which has a listview. Now I want to create a bottom bar below listview. Bottombar has a background image and two buttons with their individual background images. I want to put these two buttons on common background image. I have read that this can be achieved using FrameLayout. But since I am using LinearLayout as base layout in my main.xml, is there any way to this design using linearlayout ?

If you notice, the German translation of the format string does not use the first argument (%1$@) at all but it ("sound") still appears in the output string. What am I doing wrong?

    I would like to write an enumerator that would go through a paragraph of text and gives me one sentence at a time. I tried using stringEnumerate with the NSStringEnumerationBySentences but that simply looks at the periods and fails. For example, lets say I have the following text Block: "Senator John A. Boehner decided not to move forward. He also decided not to call the congress. The news reporter said though...." I would like my function to break down the above paragraph in the following sentences: Senator John A. Boehner decided not to move forward He also decided not to call the congress (No third sentence because it's a half a sentence) The String Enumerator with the sentence optionjust looks at the periods and breaks down that way which is wrong: Senator John A. Boehner decided not to move forward He also decided not to call the congress The news reporter said though.... Is there any library or function that I can call that does a better job at this?   • performSelector:withObject:afterDelay: not working from scrollViewDidZoom

    Hi all, I feel like I should know this but I've been stumped for hours now and I've run out of ideas. The theory is simple, the user manipulates the zoom and positioning in a scrollview using a pinch. If they hold that pinch for a short period of time then the scrollview records the zoom level and content offsets. So I thought I'd start a performSelector:withObject:withDelay on the scrollViewDidZoom delegate method. If it expires then I record the settings. I delete the scheduled call every time scrollViewDidZoom is called and when the pinch gesture finishes.     I'm trying to add a UIButton to a UIView, but am having some trouble with getting it to respond to touches. I have a method which returns UIButtons after I provide it with a tag: - (UIButton*)niceSizeButtonWithTag:(int)tag { UIButton * aButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [aButton setTag:tag]; [aButton addTarget:self action:@selector(buttonWasTapped:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; CGRect newFrame = aButton.frame; newFrame.size.width = 44; newFrame.size.height = 44; [aButton setFrame:newFrame]; return aButton; } As you can see I'm creating a new button and increasing the size. I use this in the following way: UIButton * anotherButton = [self niceSizeButtonWithTag:1]; [anotherButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"image" withExtension:@"png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [anotherButton setCenter:CGPointMake(middleOfView)]; [aView addSubview:anotherButton]; I create a lot of buttons like this, hence the reason for the method. The buttons are always created and added to the subview perfectly. I can see the image and they're in the correct position. The problem is that they only respond to touches in a tiny strip. In this attached image, The yellow shows the whole frame of the button, The red shows the area that will respond to touches. The grey shows a section of the view the button is added to. If anyone could shed some light on why this is happening, it would be really useful.

  • SoundPool.load() and FileDescriptor from file

    I tried using the load function of the SoundPool that takes a FileDescriptor, because I wanted to be able to set the offset and length. The File is not stored in the Ressources but a file on the storage card. Even though neither the load nor the play function of the SoundPool throw any Exception or print anything to the console, the sound is not played. Using the same code, but use the file path string in the SoundPool constructor works perfectly. This is how I have tried the loading (start equals 0 and length is the length of the file in miliseconds): FileInputStream fileIS = new FileInputStream(new File(mFile)); mStreamID = mSoundPool.load(fileIS.getFD(), start, length, 0); mPlayingStreamID = mSoundPool.play(mStreamID, 1f, 1f, 1, 0, 1f); If I would use this, it works: mStreamID = mSoundPool.load(mFile, 0); mPlayingStreamID = mSoundPool.play(mStreamID, 1f, 1f, 1, 0, 1f); Any ideas anyone?   • Get String Instead of Source - Xcode Cocoa

    Hello everyone, I have a program that will scan the contents of a website, and display it in a textbox. The problem is that it shows the html source. For example if my html code was: <html> <body> <p>Hello</p> </body> </html> instead of just showing hello, it'll show the code above... How can I get my objective c program to just read the hello, and not the html source.. I was assuming that it was the encoding when reading the website, but I might be possibly wrong..   • How much difference you find between scrollview offset and contentview offset of table?

    Hi all, In my application, I want to detect the end of the entire table with scrollview. Since there're no sections in my scrollview, I'm using noOfRows*rowHeight to reach the end. I'm using scrollview.contentOffset.y to detect the y offset, but this contentOffset isn't matching the multiplication result i.e. I have 20 rows and with height as 250. So it comes as 5000, but my scrollview.offset.y at the end of last cell is nearly about 4650. What's this difference? Thanx in advance.

    Hello I would like to show a fixed number of sections in a table view with a Fetched Results Controller as the data source. If you image the contacts app where sections organised by the alphabet, it will not have a header for B if there are no contacts in that section, so the section headers you see are A then C. I would like to display a section header in my table (for B), but without any rows. an empty section in effect. Can NSFetchedResultsController do this for me?

    Hi, I'm making a game where when a card is touched, it grows so that it is focused, and when you 'let go', it goes back to its original size and place. This seems pretty standard, however, when I add cards and move the hand around to accommodate different numbers of cards, touching the card makes it go to its original place, and not to the new place.     I'm working on an iOS app that allows the user to like a Facebook page within the app. I've implemented this using FacebookLikeView. During the course of testing this functionality, I've liked and unliked the same page multiple times. Unfortunately, this seems to have triggered Facebook's spam detection. Now, when trying to like a page using the like button displayed by FacebookLikeView, the following error is presented: "URL could not be liked because it has been blocked". Based on reports of the same problem found by searching the web, I've filled out this form to request that Facebook remove the block. However, I've received no response from them. I'm not sure how to proceed. Has anyone else run into this issue and successfully solved it?

    Hi, I have a project set up using these two tutorials. http://twilloapp.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-embed-navigation-controller.html and the link for the second tutorial is at the bottom of the first. The tutorial is slightly outdated but I managed to get it to work as advertised. Now I want to push a new detailedView onto the NavigationController when a user touches a row in the table view. So I added this to my MyTableViewController.m file. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Navigation logic may go here. Create and push another view controller. SecondViewController *detailViewController = [[SecondViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SecondViewController.xib" bundle:nil]; // ... // Pass the selected object to the new view controller. [self.navigationController pushViewController:detailViewController animated:YES]; [detailViewController release]; } Now when I run this project and touch a row in my table view I am getting an error: asm_Terminating_due_to_uncaught_exception IT seems to be having an issue loading the SecondViewController from nib, however I checked the detailViewController and it is not nil. I know I am missing something and it is more than likely something simple. Please help. Thanks, Bruce

  • xcode collect2: ld returned 1 exit status - how to resolve?

    From what I have read this is supposed to be when the linker (not exactly sure how that works) can't find a symbol. the symbol in question is: SCNetworkReachabilityCreateWithAddress as can be seen from the full error message below. the thing is that the correct framework is added to my target. xcode recognises the symbol OK, i.e. there is no error message in the .m file. the .m file is added to the correct target so I'm not at all sure what to do. Any ideas please? "SCNetworkReachabilityCreateWithAddress", referenced from: -[AppWelcomeVC viewDidLoad] in AppWelcomeVC.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

  • Android insert into sqlite database

    I know there is probably a simple thing I'm missing, but I've been beating my head against the wall for the past hour or two. I have a database for the Android application I'm currently working on (Android v1.6) and I just want to insert a single record into a database table. My code looks like the following: //Save information to my table sql = "INSERT INTO table1 (field1, field2, field3) " + "VALUES (" + field_one + ", " + field_two + ")"; Log.v("Test Saving", sql); myDataBase.rawQuery(sql, null); the myDataBase variable is a SQLiteDatabase object that can select data fine from another table in the schema. The saving appears to work fine (no errors in LogCat) but when I copy the database from the device and open it in sqlite browser the new record isn't there. I also tried manually running the query in sqlite browser and that works fine. The table schema for table1 is _id, field1, field2, field3. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    I have a settings bundle, working perfectly, that I would like to customize a bit. I have, among other things, a PSSliderSpecifier and a PSTitleValueSpecifier. What I would like to do is change the value of the PSTitleValueSpecifier to show the current value of the slider, preferably updating every time the slider's value changes (Actually, what I'd like even more would be displaying the slider's value on the same row as the slider). I know the settings bundle is rather strict about what you're allowed to do in it, but is there any way of doing this?

But I'm out of luck and no clue which method need to be replaced by my "hooking" method in the "MobileCal" app. For example, the "MobileLog" and "iRealSMS" has the same functionality and they used mobile substrate to hook their code into "MobileCal" app. If any one has any clue, I would definitely appreciate them.
