  What do you do with GitHub repositories you no longer maintain? For whatever reason a project is started with a GitHub repository and then sometime later it's abandoned Perhaps it was an experiment that didn't work out. Perhaps you replaced it with a commercial product. Or perhaps you found a similar project to what you were doing and joined their efforts instead. In the time your repository was alive, it attracted watchers and a few forks. What do you do with it at that point? Is there a way to nicely indicate that repository is no longer maintained and to either check out the forks or a different project?

• re-open background application via notification item

  I got an app with tabs and a notification bar entry, when I send it to background (click on home button) and try to re-open the application via click on the notification bar, the app restarts (last selected tab is lost). When I hold the home button if the application is in the background and select it from there or click the app's icon on the homescreen, the previous state is restored per default (the correct tab is selected) IMO the intent of the notification is wrong, but I'm not sure how to fix it. In short: How to get a background application back to foreground when I click the notification entry? thx!

  I want to add a search engine to my website. I want it to handler boolean searches and give me a list of results in order or best match. I need it to be able to work with LINQ, because I want to add additional where clauses to the final query that gets run. I am looking for the best open source .NET search engine that works with LINQ. I like lucene.net but the problem is the LINQ interface (LINQ to Lucene) hasn't been updated since 2008. Are there any good options out there?

  I'm running a database-heavy Java application on a cluster, using Connector/J 5.1.14. Therefore, I have up to 150 concurrent tasks accessing the same MySQL database. I get the following error: Exception in thread "main" com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLNonTransientConnectionException: Too many connections This happens because the server can't handle so many connections. I can't change anything on the database server. So my question is: Can I check if a connection is possible BEFORE I actually connect to the database?   I'm using the Colorbox module in Drupal 7. I'm opening an external website. I can make it work with a link. Click here, then click the "colorbox popup" link at the bottom, middle column. The client would like this to open automatically when the page opens. • Open browser window with formed URL after posting a PHP form

  So here's the question. I have this php form that collects some data, after posting the data gets parsed an URL is constructed. After this URL is constructed, I'd like to open a new browser window for the user with this newly constructed URL. How can I actually accomplish this? Is this something that can only be done with javascript? If so... How? I already have the code in place and i've tested it works that construct the URL after posting the form, now it's just a matter of opening a new window with the URL.

• How do I open a hardware accelarated DirectX window on a secondary screen

  I'm looking to create a hardware accelarated DirectX (9 at the moment) window on a secondary screen. This screen is connected to the same graphics display as the primary screen (at least at the moment). Currently, when I try to open the window on the secondary screen based on window position or by dragging it there, CPU usage jumps by about 10%, which seems to indicate that windows is switching to a software fallback rather than the hardware accelaration. Machine is windows XP running a NVIDIA graphics card (varying cards as this runs on several machines), with the latest driver. It's also running CUDA at the same time to produce the images if that matters. Programming language is c++, manual window and message queue creation, no tookbox used at the moment to manage the GUI Thanks

I do have a .java file already and would like to add a few lines of code to a method inside it. So, I would like the API to modify the java file directly/ create a modified copy of it.   I'm using Jumi to echo php code and then showing that in a Joomla Article, and everythings working fine. Now I want to do this: The output is basically a list from a database like this: Name Price Type A 1 T1 B 2 T2 In this list I want to include links to only show items of the same type, so "T1" would like to a page only showing things of type T1. So I thought I would do this by making a new page that takes a type and then get all the items of that type from the database. Without Joomla this wouldv'e been a piece of cake, with Joomla I'm not quite sure where to begin. How should the a href=... tags in the html code printed by my php script look? Is my basic structure still correct, and if so, how do I make Joomla open the new page in the normal frame and not replace the whole Joomla page. some kind of target-frame attribute?

I've search a lot with no luck. My idea is to preview zip files from the dropbox using its API but i dont want to save the files to a local drive, just preview the content. Any idea if that's possible with php? Almost everything i found is about creating the file, not reading it... :-\ I was thinking that i might try with nodejs, but i know mostly nothing about nodejs, do you think it would support it? • Solution for distributing MANY simple network tasks?

  I would like to create some sort of a distributed setup for running a ton of small/simple REST web queries in a production environment. For each 5-10 related queries which are executed from a node, I will generate a very small amount of derived data, which will need to be stored in a standard relational database (such as PostgreSQL). What platforms are built for this type of problem set? The nature, data sizes, and quantities seem to contradict the mindset of Hadoop. There are also more grid based architectures such as Condor and Sun Grid Engine, which I have seen mentioned. I'm not sure if these platforms have any recovery from errors though (checking if a job succeeds). What I would really like is a FIFO type queue that I could add jobs to, with the end result of my database getting updated. Any suggestions on the best tool for the job?

This is my first time making a "real" commercial application, and I would appreciate some advice on how best to go about including their source codes.   there are plenty of frameworks for coding MVC web applications. this time im going to code a library (think of Doctrine or Solr) with a bunch of class files. u just include a bootstrap or a class file and you are ready to use my classes. i have never tried to code a library before and intend to code one for learning purpose so that i can use various design patterns i have learned. are there any great frameworks for this, how i should organize the different class files, where i can put configuration files and so on? tutorials or other information would be great too. thanks

  I am involved in this project, Pinta, and we are currently using GitHub for our development. We all love Git and GitHub and want to keep using it. However, now the project is getting stable and involved, and it's time we started using a more capable bug tracking system than GitHub's simple issue tracker. We also want to start doing GetText based translations. We are looking at Launchpad which has both a nice bug tracker and translation manager, but we want to keep using GitHub for development. I'm worried that these will not integrate well, and it will make development harder. Has anyone used GitHub with another bug tracking system and had any success? Any recommendations?

• How do i open Google Maps for directions using coordinates on the iphone

  I am using UIMapView to display locations on the iPhone. I want to do a directions from current location to the location of interest, I don't think its possible using MapKit (but if it is please inform) So I will open either the Google Maps application or safari to display it. Can i do this by specifying co-ordinates from (current location) to co-ordinates (the location of interest) I have these longitudes and latitudes. Or do i have to use street addresses? If I do have to use street addresses, can i get them from the latitude and longitude.

• how to animate a menu item into a large div (window) using jquery's animate?

  i'm pretty sure this can be done pretty easily with jquery's animate api, but i'm not good enough to figure it out. what i want to do is this: i have a menu item at the top of the viewport that the user will click on. when the user clicks on it, you'll see something that looks like the div "popping" out of the menu and float to a particular location on the screen. when i say popping i don't mean anything fancy - i just mean it appears to be originating from the menu item and settling somewhere on the screen that i specify. but the important part is that this animation happens really fast. fast enough where you don't have to actually wait for the window to appear, but slow enough so the eye sees the animation start from the menu item and end up at a new location where the window will actually appear, and appear with a specify height and width. hope that all made sense?

The puzzle pieces must have male and female notches/holes. There should be more than one template so that the puzzle does not become too easy. The target system is iOS / Mac. • Structure of open source project's repository

  I'm in the beginning of starting a small open source project. When cloning the main repository one gets a complete build environment with all the libraries and all the tools needed to make an official installer file, with correct version numbers. I like the fact that anyone who wants to contribute can clone the repository and get started with anything they want. But I'm thinking this makes it to easy for Evil People to create malicious installers and release into the wild. How should it be structured? What do you recommend including in the repository, versus keeping on the build server only?
