  • ASP.NET: Large number of Session_Start with same session id

    I'm running a ASP.NET website on my development box (.NET 2.0 on Vista/IIS7). The Session_Start method in global.asax.cs logs every call to a file (log4net). The Session_End method also logs every call. I'm using InProc session state, and set the session timeout to 5 mins (to avoid waiting for 20 mins). I hit the website, wait for 5 minutes unit I see the Session_End logging. Then I F5 the website. The browsers still has the session cookie and sends it to the server. Session_Start is called and a new session is created using the same session id (btw: I need this to be the same session id, because it is used to store data in database). Result: Every time I hit F5 on a previously ended session, the Session_Start method is called. When I open a different browser, the Session_Start method is called just once. Then after 5 minutes the Session_End each F5 causes the Session_Start method to execute. Can anyone explain why this is happening? Update: After the Session timeout, all subsequent requests have a session start & session end.   • Print "1 followed by googolplex number of zeros" [closed]

    Assuming we are not concerned about running time of the program (which is practically infinite for human mortals), we want to print out in base 10, the exact value of 10^(googolplex), one digit at a time (mostly zeros). Describe an algorithm (which can be coded on current day computers), or write a program to do this. Since we cannot practically check the output, so we will rely on collective opinion on the correctness of the program. NOTE : I do not know the solution, or whether a solution exists or not. The problem is my own invention. To those readers who think this is not a CS question... kindly reconsider. This is difficult and bit theoretical but definitely CS.

  • jquery input-validation (number characters and decimal places).

    I have several javascript functions to validate the input data in textbox, so it will limit the user to type into the textbox a range of numbers (eg. from 0 to 500) an x amount of decimals (eg. 1 or 2 or 3 ....). I am having some issues with the javascript functions because they are three separate functions and the alerts get a bit mixed up. I was wondering if there is a jquery function that will make it neat, effective and simple. Thanks.

    The purpose of the JLabel is to show who a message is to, like in a mail client e.g. To: John, Mary, Peter, Frank, Tom, Harry I will have the names in a vector so can build up a string from that and then set the label's text to this string. However it has the potential to get quite long. I was think it might be nice to have something like this: To: John, Mary, Peter, Frank, Tom, Harry, ... Then when you click on the '...', it will expand more or just show a tool tip if you mouse over the ... Yes this idea is stolen from Thunderbird! I am open to other ideas, don't have to use a JLabel.   • Limit the number of service calls in a RESTful application

    Imagine some kind of a banking application, with a screen to create accounts. Each Account has a Currency and a Bank as a property, Currency being a separate class, as well as Bank. The code might look something like this: public class Account { public Currency Currency { get; set; } public Bank Bank { get; set; } } public class Currency { public string Code { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } public class Bank { public string Name { get; set; } public string Country { get; set; } } According to the REST design principles, each resource in the application should have its own service, and each service should have methods that map nicely to the HTTP verbs. So in our case, we have an AccountService, CurrencyService and BankService. In the screen for creating an account, we have some UI to select the bank from a list of banks, and to select a currency from a list of currencies. Imagine it is a web application, and those lists are dropdowns. This means that one dropdown is populated from the CurrencyService and one from the BankService. What this means is that when we open the screen for creating an account, we need to make two service calls to two different services. If that screen is not by itself on a page, there might be more service calls from the same page, impacting the performance. Is this normal in such an application? If not, how can it be avoided? How can the design be modified without going away from REST?

The only constraint on the map functions are: each list of digits must map to a unique character string (this means the string can be arbitrarily long) character string can only contain 0-9, a-z, A-Z What map function would produce the shortest strings? Solutions in JavaScript are preferred. note: Clearly the simplest solution is to use the original list of digits, so make sure you solution does better than that.

    Greetings. I am doing Problem 7 from Project Euler. What I am supposed to do is calculate the 10001st prime number. (A prime number being a number that is only divisible by itself and one.) Here is my current program: public class Problem7 { public static void main(String args []){ long numberOfPrimes = 0; long number = 2; while (numberOfPrimes < 10001){ if(isPrime(number)){ numberOfPrimes++; } number++; } System.out.println("10001st prime: "+ number); } public static boolean isPrime(long N) { if (N <= 1) return false; else return Prime(N,N-1); } public static boolean Prime(long X,long Y) { if (Y == 1) return true; else if (X % Y == 0) return false; else return Prime(X, Y-1); } } It works okay with finding, say the 100th prime number, but when I enter very large numbers such as 10001 it causes a stack overflow. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Thanks for reading my problem!

For example the first row should produce 1,'AA' 1,'AB' 1,'AC' 1,'AD' Can we do it using only SQL. This is failry easy to do in Oracle.

    Hi, I have a repository class that inherits from a generic implementation: public namespace RepositoryImplementation { public class PersonRepository : Web.Generics.GenericNHibernateRepository<Person> } The generic repository implementation uses Fluent NHibernate conventions. They're working fine. One of those conventions is that all properties are not nullable. Now I need to define that specific properties may be nullable outside the conventions. Fluent NHibernate has an interesting override mechanism: public namespace RepositoryImplementation { public class PersonMappingOverride : IAutoMappingOverride<Person> { public void Override(FluentNHibernate.Automapping.AutoMapping<Funcionario> mapping) { mapping.Map(x => x.PhoneNumber).Nullable(); } } } Now I need to register the override class into Fluent NHibernate. I have the following code in the Web.Generics.GenericNHibernateRepository generic class: AutoMap.AssemblyOf<Person>() .Where(type => type.Namespace == "Entities") .UseOverridesFromAssemblyOf<PersonMappingOverride>(); The problem is: UseOverridesFromAssemblyOf is a generic method, and I can't do something like that: .UseOverridesFromAssemblyOf<PersonMappingOverride>(); Because that would cause a circular reference. I don't want the generic repository to know the either repository or the mapping override class, because they vary from project to project. I see another solution: in the GenericNHibernateRepository class I can do this.GetType() and get the repository implementation type (e.g.: PersonRepository). However I can't call UseOverridesFromAssemblyOf() passing a type. Is there another way to configure overrides in FluentNHibernate? If not, how could I call UseOverridesFromAssemblyOf<T> without making the generic repository depend upon the repository implementation or the mapping override class? End If All of the sudden, no matter what kind of entry is put in txtProductID (including plain numbers), it fails! Is there reason for me to be going crazy over this?

  • Django queries: Count number of objects with FK to model instance

    This should be easy but for some reason I'm having trouble finding it. I have the following: App(models.Model): ... Release(models.Model): date = models.DateTimeField() App = models.ForeignKey(App) ... How can I query for all App objects that have at least one Release? I started typing: App.objects.all().annotate(release_count=Count('??????')).filter(release_count__gt=0) Which won't work because Count doesn't span relationships, at least as far as I can tell. BONUS: Ultimately, I'd also like to be able to sort Apps by latest release date. I'm thinking of caching the latest release date in the app to make this a little easier (and cheaper), and updating it in the Release model's save method, unless of course there is a better way. Edit: I'm using Django 1.1 - not averse to migrating to dev in anticipation of 1.2 if there is a compelling reason though.

    I have a IObservable [named rows in the sample below] from Reactive extensions framework and I want to add index numbers to each object it observes. I've tried to implement this using Zip function: rows.Zip(Enumerable.Range(1, int.MaxValue), (row, index) => new { Row = row, Index = index }) .Subscribe(a => ProcessRow(a.Row, a.Index), () => Completed()); .. but unfortunately this throws ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: disposables Am I understanding the Zip function wrong or is there a problem with my code? The Range part of the code doesn't seem to be the problem and the IObservable isn't yet receiving any events.

  • Corrupted version of WordPad [closed]

    Somehow in trying to cleanup my computer's hard drive, I have inadvertently corrupted WordPad, which I have long used for viewing many types of files, including logs (i.e., log4j). Now when I right click one of these files and choose "open with" & WordPad, I get an error (fn is not a valid Win32 application). I've researched this issue, tried reinstalling wordpad.exe; bbut I still get the same error. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Silverlight IDE for latest version (May 2010)

    In 2008 Artur Carvalho asked for an Alternative IDE for Silverlight and was told to look at Visual Studio Express. Is that still the valid answer in 2010 or are there other IDEs one should consider (cost/ OS it runs on / stability)? I'm trying to get a feel for silverlight development before commiting cash. So I don't need enterprize level tools or a license to distribute .. Would MonoDevelop and Moonlight be an option?

As you can see, all the nodes are siblings of each-other, so except their name their Xpath is same. Is there any short-hand property ? Does XSLT 1.0 (or Xpath1.0) allows it?

    I've got a vertical market Dot Net Framework 1.1 C#/WinForms/SQL Server 2000 application. Currently it uses ADO.Net and Microsoft's SQLHelper for CRUD operations. I've successfully converted it to Dot Net Framework 4 C#/WinForms/ SQL Server 2008. What I'd like to do is also offer my customers the ability to use SQL Azure as a backend storage for their data instead of local/LAN SQL Server. If I know SQL Azure is in my application's future, should I: A. Switch to LINQ to SQL B. Swith to Entity Framework C. Stick with ADO.Net and SQLHelper Thanks !

  • When will NAnt reach version 1.0

    I like Nant very much. I do a lot of scripting with NAnt. It is a great little tool. Since NAnt is pre 1.0, when problems occur, I often think if that it is a problem with NAnt itself, but this is not always the case. One funny example: After running the oracle scripts I parsed the log output to make sure there was no problem. I was testing this with a small log file and it was fine. I used the task to load the file contents to a string property and used a regex to search for errors. When I used this script for a large log file, I stopped getting the "build failed" message at the bottom, because I was printing the error messages. Because the "build failed" was hiding at the top, I thought NAnt crashed, but it worked fine. It would be better for NAnt to have a 1.0 release. Any reasons why not?
