  • The links within posts should open a tab [closed]

    I couldn't find a place to feedback about this so apologies if I shouldn't have post this as a question here. Would it be possible for the admins of the site to change the links we post in our answers to have their target as _blank. It is quite hard when it is _self as we look at those urls in correlation with what the post is about so I wouldn't want it to replace the post.

    In an effort to improve the user experience changes have been made to Service Request (SR) creation process using My Oracle Support (MOS). This change is now online for several high-use CRM products. We aimed to streamline the process by reducing the number of questions, making subsequent questions conditional on previous responses, reducing lists of problem categories, and recommending key documents/evidence which should be supplied to help the Support engineer progress the issue.   • Why a write-enable ring?

    Here's an "interview question" that while ostensibly about hardware really does inform a software design principal as well. Computers used to (still do I guess, somewhere) use magnetic tape reels to store data. There was a plastic accessory you could attach to a tape reel called a "write-enable ring". If the tape had such a ring, the tape drive allowed writing to the tape... if not, it only allowed read access. Why was the choice to design the system in this way? Why not have a "write protect ring" instead, with the opposite effect?

    I have resigned from Oracle and thus will soon leave the GlassFish group. I feel very proud looking back at what we've achieved as a team with GlassFish in the past few years, including those past two years at Oracle. If you know anything about the history of application servers at Sun, you'll recognize that building such a community around GlassFish and its amazing number of downloads is nothing short of a small miracle. The Java EE platform has also seen a strong resurgence, bringing it back to the forefront of effective enterprise Java development in many ways. Having been hired by Sun some 13 years ago to sell NetDynamics I certainly feel that I leave the company's application server in *much* better shape. Oracle has ambitious plans for GlassFish and has been in my opinion a good steward for this community. I see no reason for this to change and I do expect the community to keep on pushing Oracle to get even better with time. This ride has been intense and the people I've met and worked with, both inside and outside Sun/Oracle, have made the experience the best one of my career.     It's been almost 4 years since I last logged into this site, but when I search my name I still rank high for people searching for me! I didn't realize I was so popular!Well, I've obviously since abandonded this blog and don't really want to maintain a blog in 2 locations now that I am getting back into it. (At least, not at this time - if I can figure out how to cross-post things may change...)   • HTML/Javascript Strange behavior with input field and TABBING

    I have a strange error where if a user enters in data, say first name and then tabs, the text in the field is highlighted/selected as opposed to moving to the next. So, a person may type the first name and then tab to the next input item, text is selected and then they hit a character and now the name they typed in is deleted. If I use the default [input] tags, the tab works properly. But in the code below, with keyup, that may change the tabbing behavior. How can I get my code where it won't select the text.
