  • How to get used of trackpoint on a thinkpad?

    - by AZ
Recently my shoulder hurts due to frequently arm movement switching between keyboard and mouse. Then I start using trackpoint. The problem is, while everyone saying the trackpoint is more accurate than touchpad, I find it very hard to accurately move the cursor using trackpoint. Large movements are ok, but when it comes to fine movements, such as click a close button or check a checkbox, it takes longer time. Should I just practice more, or are there any good tips or tutorials around?

  • Linux Kernel - Refreshing VFS Dentry Cache

    - by Mike D
    I wrote a system call that opens a directory and gets the file object and the dentry struct. Im trying to list all entries including entries in subdirectories using the list_for_each() macro. The problem is its only displaying whats currently in the dentry cache. If I open the directory with nautilus then rerun the system call, all the entries are listed. Is there a way to check the exact list of entries or refresh the cache? f = s_open(tpath); fle = fget(f); d = fle->f_path.dentry; list_for_each ( position , &d->d_subdirs ) { dtmp = list_entry(position, struct dentry, d_u.d_child); ... } sys_close(f);

  • jQuery show/hide menu problem

    - by jerrygarciuh
Hi folks, I am encountering an odd behavior using jQuery to show/hide a menu. I have an absolutely positioned div which contains an "activator " div (relatively positioned) which I want to reveal a menu on moseover. Menu div is contained by the activator div and is also relatively positioned. I was working on assumption that since it would be contained by the activator that rolloff would not be triggered when the mouse travels over into the reveled menu. When you roll onto the revealed menu however show/hide starts pulsing and does so a second or so even after the mouse clears the area. CSS looks like this #myAbsolutePos { position:absolute; height:335px; width:213px; top:508px; left:0; z-index:2; } #activator { position:relative; height:35px; margin-top:95px; text-align:center; width:inherit; cursor:pointer; } #menu { position:relative; height:255px; width:243px; top:-45px; left:190px; padding:20px 25px 20px 25px; } #menuContents { width:190px; } jQuery funcs: $('#activator').mouseover(function () { $('#menu').show('slow'); }); $('#activator').mouseout(function () { $('#menu').hide('slow'); }); HTML: <div id="myAbsolutePos"> <div id="activator"> // content <div id="menu" style="display:none"> <div id="menuContents"> // content </div> </div> </div> </div> To see problem in action roll over the current weather location (Thunder Horse) in the lower left here: http://www.karlsenner.dreamhosters.com/index.php Any advice is most appreciated! • IE6 Hacks: Getting jQuery tools expose to work properly on my site

    - by Wild Thing
Hi, I am trying to get the jQuery tools 'expose' function to work properly in IE6. The page is http://204.51.246.10:12123/ You will need IE6 to reproduce the bug (obviously :)). If you click 'Sign In' on the top-right corner (below the 'Join Today!' button), you will notice that the sign in panel (fieldset#login-controls) is getting covered by the background of its parent element (.signinPanel), which is very weird. It is not on the top of z-index, and I can't figure out why. Please note that in order to get fieldset#login-controls positioned correctly, I have applied the following hack for IE6: $("#header, #header div, #header table, #header td, #header tr").css("position", "static"); $("fieldset#login-controls *").css("position", "static"); This might be the reason for the above. I am pretty lost at this point, as I can't figure what's going on - any advise would be appreciated. Cheers, Wild Thing

  • Jquery UI Slider - Input a Value and Slider Move to Location

    - by RobertC
I was wondering if anyone has found a solution or example to actually populating the input box of a slider and having it slide to the appropriate position onBlur() .. Currently, as we all know, it just updates this value with the position you are at. So in some regards, I am trying to reverse the functionality of this amazing slider. One link I found: http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-177578.html is a bit outdated, but looks like they made an attempt. However, the links to the results do not exist. I am hoping that there may be a solution out there. I know Filament has re-engineered the slider to handle select (drop down) values, and it works flawlessly.. So the goal would be to do the same, but with an input text box. Any help would be incredible! Thanks in Advance!! Robert

  • CSS height problem. IE8 seems correct Firefox seems wrong. Any fix?

    - by user169867
    Below is a complete html page that shows the problem. The "myDiv" should be 22px in height (including the border). Item 1 should have a 1px space between its border and the divs border. In IE8 it is. In FF 3.6.2 though it is 24px and I can't understand why. Ultimately my goal is to get the same CSS to create the same result in both browsers. It's driving me crazy! Any help would be appreciated :) <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head> <title></title> <style type="text/css"> div.aclb {background:#EEF3FA; color:#666; cursor:text; padding:1px; overflow-y:auto; border:#BBC8D9 1px solid; } div.aclb:hover {border:#3399FF 1px solid;} div.aclb.focus {background:#FFF; border:#3399FF 1px solid;} div.aclb ul {padding:0; margin:0; list-style:none; display:table; vertical-align:middle; } div.aclb li {float:left; cursor:default; font-family:Arial; padding:0; margin:0;} div.aclb li.block {padding:0px 2px; height:16px; white-space:nowrap; border:solid 1px #BBD8FB; background:#f3f7fd; font-size:11px; line-height:16px;} div.aclb li.block:hover {border:solid 1px #5F8BD3; background:#E4ECF8; color:#000;} div.aclb li.input {} div.aclb input {margin:0; padding:0; height:18px; background:transparent; border:none; color:#666; overflow:hidden; resize:none; font-family:Arial; font-size:13px; outline:none;} div.aclb input:focus {margin:0; padding:0; height:18px; background:transparent; border:none; color:#22F; overflow:hidden; resize:none; font-family:Arial; font-size:13px; outline:none;} div.aclb a.d {cursor:pointer; display:block; color:#6B6B6B; width:13px; height:12px;float:right; margin:1px 0 1px 4px; border:solid 1px transparent; font-family:Verdana; font-size:11px; text-align:center; line-height:10px;} div.aclb a.d:hover { border:solid 1px #7DA2CE; background:#F7FAFD; color:#AD0B0B;} div.aclb a.d:active {border:solid 1px #497CBB; background:#BAD8E8; color:#A90909;} </style> </head> <body> <div id="myDiv" style="width:250px" class="aclb"> <ul> <li class="block"> <a class="d">x</a><span>Item 1</span> </li> <li class="input"> <input type="text" style="width:30px" maxlength="30"/> </li> </ul> </div> </body> </html>

  • Program Managers: Do you exist? How do I become you?

    - by sixtyfootersdude
I am a Computer Science major who is interesting in exploring a career as a program manager. I knew since starting my degree that that was the role that was interested in but I just found out the actual job name recently. Q: Is this a common position? Do many companies have "program managers"? What should I do/read to improve my chances to become a project manager upon graduation? I have already completed three co-op terms at different companies none of which had this position.

  • Using background-attachment:fixed in safari on the ipad

    - by chris_bcn
I'm looking to recreate an effect similiar to the popular science app. Basically have one big background image and then have HTML/CSS layer on top of that. When the user scrolls the content, then background-position of the image should remain in place, and not scroll. Obviously in a 'regular' browser I would use background-attachment:fixed, but this doesn't seem to work on the ipad. I know position:fixed doesn't work as you might expect according to safari spec - but is there any way of achieving this?

  • CCSprite following a sequence of CGPoints

    - by pgb
I'm developing a line drawing game, similar to Flight Control, Harbor Master, and others in the appstore, using Cocos2D. For this game, I need a CCSprite to follow a line that the user has drawn. I'm storing a sequence of CGPoint structs in an NSArray, based on the points I get in the touchesBegin and touchesMoved messages. I now have the problem of how to make my sprite follow them. I have a tick method, that is called at the framerate speed. In that tick method, based on the speed and current position of the sprite, I need to calculate its next position. Is there any standard way to achieve this? My current approach is calculate the line between the last "reference point" and the next one, and calculate the next point in that line. The problem I have is when the sprite "turns" (moves from one segment of the line to another). Any hint will be greatly appreciated.

  • "Collection was modified..." Issue

    - by Tyler Murry
Hey guys, I've got a function that checks a list of objects to see if they've been clicked and fires the OnClick events accordingly. I believe the function is working correctly, however I'm having an issue: When I hook onto one of the OnClick events and remove and insert the element into a different position in the list (typical functionality for this program), I get the "Collection was modified..." error. I believe I understand what is going on: The function cycles through each object firing OnClick events where necessary An event is fired and the object changes places in the list per the hooked function An exception is thrown for modifying the collection while iterating through it My question is, how to do I allow the function to iterate through all the objects, fire the necessary events at the proper time and still give the user the option of manipulating the object's position in the list? Thanks, Tyler

  • IE8 positioning, nightmare!

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
    Well hi, guess what, I have an IE positioning issue! This is in 8, so god know what's going on in the other versions (checking later) Both the boxes call the same class, why is IE being so difficult? Here's how it's meant to look: And here's how it does look: CSS: (removed comments for ease of reading) div .roundbigboxkunde { background-image:url(../../upload/EW_kunde_info.png); background-position:top center; padding:10px; padding-top:10px; padding-bottom:20px; width:560px; height:1%; border-width:1px; border-color:#dddddd; border-radius:10px; -moz-border-radius:10px; -webkit-border-radius:10px; z-index:1; position:relative; overflow:hidden; } div .roundbigboxkundei { margin-top:10px; padding:10px; padding-top:10px; padding-bottom:10px; width:760px; height:1%; position:relative; overflow:hidden; And HTML: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <div class="roundbigboxkunde"> <div class="roundbigboxkundei"> <p id="nyk">&nbsp;</p> <div id="bg_box2"></div> <p class="required"> <label for="billing_firstName"><span class="label">Fornavn:</span></label> <fieldset class="error"><input name="billing_firstName" class="text" type="text" value="Kyle"/> <div class="errorText hidden"></div> </fieldset> </p> CONTENT CONTINUES </fieldset> Here is the page

  • Simple way to implement computer-go board in Java

    - by codingbear
I want to make a simple Go board to design an Computer Go game. In a go game, you lie a "stone" (white or black) on a position where horizontal and vertical lines intersect. What are some simple ways to restrict users from placing their stones in other locations? Maybe I'm just not seeing a simple solution. EDIT I guess I should rephrase my question better: I want to know how to do the background image of Go board, so that I can lie my stones on the intersection of the horizontal and the vertical lines. I was thinking about getting a just regular Go board image, and when I'm actually rendering stones, I find right position of pixels to lie stones. However, that solution did not seem to be the best solution, since I need to worry about size of stone images and think about proportionality when I either expand or shrink the board window.

  • jquery ui dialog fixed positioning

    - by sofia
Hi, I needed the dialog to maintain its position fixed even if the page scrolled, so i used the extension at http://forum.jquery.com/topic/dialog-position-fixed-12-1-2010 but there's 2 problems with it: it flickers in IE and Firefox on page scroll (in Safari/Chrome it's fine) on closing and then reopening, it looses its stickyness and scrolls along with the page. Here's the code i'm using for creating the dialog: $('<div id="'+divpm_id+'"><div id="inner_'+divpm_id+'"></div><textarea class="msgTxt" id="txt'+divpm_id+'" rows="2"></textarea></div>') .dialog({ autoOpen: true, title: user_str, height: 200, stack: true, sticky: true //uses ui dialog extension to keep it fixed }); And here's the code i'm using for reopening it: jQuery('#'+divpm_id).parent().css('display','block'); Suggestions/solutions? Thanks

  • How do i translate movement on the Canvas3D to movement in the virtual 3D world

    - by Coder
My goal is to move a shape in the virtual world in such a way so that it ends up where the mouse pointer is on the canvas. What i have: -mouse position (x,y) on a Canvas3D object -Point3d object of where a pick ray starting from the Canvas3D viewport intersects with the first scene object. (point in 3D space of where i want to start the drag) What i want: -Some way to translate the Point3d's coordinates so that the initial point of intersection (the Point3d object) is always overlapping the the mouse position on the canvas (same as when i used the pick ray to determine what the user clicked on from the Canvas3D object). Thanks!

  • XSLT 1.0 help with recursion logic

    - by DashaLuna
Hello guys, I'm having troubles with the logic and would apprecite any help/tips. I have <Deposits> elements and <Receipts> elements. However there isn't any identification what receipt was paid toward what deposit. I am trying to update the <Deposits> elements with the following attributes: @DueAmont - the amount that is still due to pay @Status - whether it's paid, outstanding (partly paid) or due @ReceiptDate - the latest receipt's date that was paid towards this deposit Every deposit could be paid with one or more receipts. It also could happen, that 1 receipt could cover one or more deposits. For example. If there are 3 deposits: 500 100 450 That are paid with the following receipts: 200 100 250 I want to get the following info: Deposit 1 is fully paid (status=paid, dueAmount=0, receiptNum=3. Deposit 2 is partly paid (status=outstanding, dueAmount=50, receiptNum=3. Deposit 3 is not paid (status=due, dueAmount=450, receiptNum=NAN. I've added comments in the code explaining what I'm trying to do. I am staring at this code for the 3rd day now non stop - can't see what I'm doing wrong. Please could anyone help me with it? :) Thanks! • jquery question - addclass to element depending on active image in rotating banner

    - by whitman6732
    I have a banner that rotates a series of three images. The active one has a display:block, while the inactive have display:none. I'm trying to match the class for the active image with an tag so that I can add an "active" class to the a tag. Having some trouble writing that function. It's adding all of the classes for each of the img elements, regardless of whether they're being displayed or not... The html markup looks like this: <div id="banner-area"> <div class="clearfix" id="promo-boxes-nav"> <ul id="banner-tabs"> <li> <ul id="page-tabs"> <li><a class="t39" href="#">1</a></li> <li><a class="t42" href="#">2</a></li> <li><a class="t49" href="#">3</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="last">&nbsp;</li> </ul> </div> <div id="banner-content"> <img class="t39" src="http://localhost:8888/1.png" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; display: none; opacity: 0;"> <img class="t42" src="http://localhost:8888/2.png" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; display: block; opacity: 1;"> <img class="t49" src="http://localhost:8888/3.png" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; display: none;opacity: 0;"> </div> </div> The function in its current form looks like this: $j(document).ready(function() { $j('#banner-content') .cycle({ fx: 'fade', speed: 300, timeout: 3000, next: '.t1', pause: 1 }); if($j('#page-tabs a').attr('class')) { $j('#banner-content img').each(function() { if($j(this).attr('display','block')) { var bcClass = $j(this).attr('class'); } $j('#page-tabs li a').each(function() { if($j('#page-tabs li a').hasClass(bcClass)) { $j(this).addClass(bcClass); } }); }); } })

  • Move to next selection in Word 2007

    - by Arthur Ward
When I have multiple selections in a Word 2007 document, such as after selecting all instances of a style, how can I move from one selection to the next? When you issue the select all instances command, the view snaps to the next instance of the style, but how can I find the other instances? Any cursor key will unselect everything. Using the mouse to scroll through the document is not feasible for large documents, plus the selection could be a single character -- very easy to miss!

  • Setting the a caret in an JEditor Pane causes an exception.

    - by Elliott
I have a JeditorPane which has some text in HTML format. When I execute the following command int len = editorPane.getText().length(); The value for len is 7473. But then I try to do the following: editorPane.setCaretPosition(4995); And I get the following exception: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: bad position: 4995 My understanding is that I should only get this exception if the position at which I'm trying to set the caret is less than 0 or greater than the text length. It is neither. How can this be. Thank you, Elliott

  • What is the equivalent of Struts ActionMessages in Spring MVC?

    - by Umar
Please let me know if you have any idea about it. Thanks EDIT What ActionMessages is? ActionMessages is basically a class that holds messages that you want to display on a JSP page. Messages can be added in ActionMessages in an Action(controller) class. On the JSP, the position where the messages are intended to be displayed, is marked by <html:messages/> tag. Hence, all your messages are rendered automatically on that specific position. These messages are usually feedback texts that need to appear after some user actions. For example, if the user creates a new record, a feedback message could be "Record created successfully!".
