  Using Script Task, I have written a code to create a folder and create a file of msword document inside the created folder. Its working in local machine. But its not working in another server, after I deployed it. The folder is created successfully, but the word document file is not created. for word document creation, I had to refer another dll where I had included an additional namespace "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word". Is there anything else to do before deployment ?

• Using a dynamic number of checkboxes in a rails form

  I am trying to create a form with a dynamic number of checkboxes that each link to a string that is not a model number but is instead just a word. For examples: <% form_for(@words) do |f| %> <% ["apple","banana","orange"].each do |word| %> <%= f.check_box :word %> <%= f.submit %> <% end %> <% end %> So, if "apple" was checked, it would just send the string "apple" in the params. Anyone know how to do this?

For example: - For each user of my ASP.NET application there is a folder with Word documents on my server - The ASP.NET application displays the available documents in a grid to the user - When clicking on one of the documents in the grid, the Word document is loaded in an IFrame which contains the Office 2010 web apps Word interface and editing of the document can take place - After editing, the document can be saved to the server, and the ASP.NET grid displays an updated status Would such a scenario be possible? And what do you need, e.g. Sharepoint, Office 2010 licenses?

  I have a WPF application that will always run on windows 7, it opens and displays in full-screen mode There is a button within WPF app that opens up Word I would like the WPF application on opening up Word to send a command to the operating system so that it tiles both the WPF application and the Word application windows side by side, so that they each take up 50% of screen each. Is this possible? if yes would anyone know what the code may be? ( a bit like when you right click on windows 7 task bar and click Show Windows Side by Side)

  I'm familiar with using NSLocalizedString() to localize strings, but the problem I have today requires a little more finesse. My situation is like this: NSString *userName; //the users name, entered by the user. Does not need localized NSString *favoriteFood; //the users favorite food, also entered by user, and not needing localized NSString *summary = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@'s favorite food is %@", userName, favoriteFood]; This works fine for english, but not every language uses the same word ordering as English, for example, a word-by-word translation of the same sentance from Japanese into English would read: UserName's favorite food pizza is Not to mention that 's is doesn't make a possessive in every language. What techniques are available for localizing this type of concatenated sentence?

  I'm using minidom to parse through an xml document. I took the data with yum tags and stored them in a list and calculated the frequency of the words. However, its not storing or reading them as strings in the list. Is there another way to do it?   I have search strings, similar to the one bellow: energy food "olympics 2010" Terrorism OR "government" OR cups NOT transport and I need to parse it with PHP5 to detect if the content belongs to any of the following clusters: AllWords array AnyWords array NotWords array These are the rules i have set: If it has OR before or after the word or quoted words if belongs to AnyWord. If it has a NOT before word or quoted words it belongs to NotWords If it has 0 or more more spaces before the word or quoted phrase it belongs to AllWords. So the end result should be something similar to: AllWords: (energy, food, "olympics 2010") AnyWords: (terrorism, "government", cups) NotWords: (Transport) What would be a good way to do this?

• Edit Distance in Python

  I'm programming a spellcheck program in Python. I have a list of valid words (the dictionary) and I need to output a list of words from this dictionary that have an edit distance of 2 from a given invalid word. I know I need to start by generating a list with an edit distance of one from the invalid word(and then run that again on all the generated words). I have three methods, inserts(...), deletions(...) and changes(...) that should output a list of words with an edit distance of 1, where inserts outputs all valid words with one more letter than the given word, deletions outputs all valid words with one less letter, and changes outputs all valid words with one different letter. I've checked a bunch of places but I can't seem to find an algorithm that describes this process. All the ideas I've come up with involve looping through the dictionary list multiple times, which would be extremely time consuming. If anyone could offer some insight, I'd be extremely grateful. • How do quickly search through a .csv file in Python

  I'm reading a 6 million entry .csv file with Python, and I want to be able to search through this file for a particular entry. Are there any tricks to search the entire file? Should you read the whole thing into a dictionary or should you perform a search every time? I tried loading it into a dictionary but that took ages so I'm currently searching through the whole file every time which seems wasteful. Could I possibly utilize that the list is alphabetically ordered? (e.g. if the search word starts with "b" I only search from the line that includes the first word beginning with "b" to the line that includes the last word beginning with "b") I'm using import csv. (a side question: it is possible to make csv go to a specific line in the file? I want to make the program start at a random line) Edit: I already have a copy of the list as an .sql file as well, how could I implement that into Python?

• Is their an optimal config/format for a TIFF when using Tesseract or other OCR?

  I'm having a bizarre problem with Tesseract. I have a name, "Janice" that is in a 200x40 pixel tiff, that Tesseract interprets as a blank. I'm running hundreds of names through Tesseract and they are processed fine. What I'm actually doing, though, is breaking up a larger TIFF into smaller tiffs of one word each. In the larger TIFF, tesseract recognizes "Janice". What could cause it to hiccup in a TIFF that solely contains that word (and there's enough space around the word to not truncate any of the pixels)? I'm using ImageMagick to split the big TIFF, are there options I should set when reconstituting the new TIFF files?

• Compare GetNextInsertionPosition and GetNextContextPosition in WPF

  As I enter a character in my RichTextBox, I want to get the next character from the its TextRange. So here is how I do it: TextPointer ptr1= RichTextBox.CaretPosition; char nextChar = GetNextChar(); while (char.IsWhiteSpace(nextChar)) { ptr1= ptr1.GetNextInsertionPosition(LogicalDirection.Forward); nextChar = GetCharacterAt(Ptr1); } then I get the ptr1 of the next character and from the TextPointer, I get the TextRange, and do my changes. So here is the problem? when the next word is spelled correctly, I have no problem, but if it's not spelled properly then ptr1 would not point to the first character of the next word (the second character), and if I use GetNextContextPosition(LogicalDirection.Forward) it would give me the first letter of the next word if it's misspelled. So depending on the spelling only one of them works? I was just wondering if you have any idea about this problem? Is there anything wrong I am doing here?

• Why does calling IEnumerable<string>.Count() create an additional assembly dependency ?

  Assume this chain of dll references Tests.dll >> Automation.dll >> White.Core.dll with the following line of code in Tests.dll, where everything builds result.MissingPaths Now when I change this to result.MissingPaths.Count() I get the following build error for Tests.dll "White.UIItem is not defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to White.Core.dll." And I don't want to do that because it breaks my layering. Here is the type definition for result, which is in Automation.dll public class HasResult { public HasResult(IEnumerable<string> missingPaths ) { MissingPaths = missingPaths; } public IEnumerable<string> MissingPaths { get; set; } public bool AllExist { get { return !MissingPaths.Any(); } } } Down the call chain the input param to this ctor is created via (The TreeNode class is in White.Core.dll) assetPaths.Where(assetPath => !FindTreeNodeUsingCache(treeHandle, assetPath)); Why does this dependency leak when calling Count() on IEnumerable ? I then suspected that lazy evaluation was causing this (for some reason) - so I slotted in an ToArray() in the above line but didn't work. Update 2011 01 07: Curiouser and Curiouser! it won't build until I add a White.Core reference. So I add a reference and build it (in order to find the elusive dependency source). Open it up in Reflector and the only references listed are Automation, mscorlib, System.core and NUnit. So the compiler threw away the White reference as it was not needed. ILDASM also confirms that there is no White AssemblyRef entry. Any ideas on how to get to the bottom of this thing (primarily for 'now I wanna know why' reasons)? What are the chances that this is an VS2010/MSBuild bug? Update 2011 01 07 #2 As per Shimmy's suggestion, tried calling the method explcitly as an extension method Enumerable.Count(result.MissingPaths) and it stops cribbing (not sure why). However I moved some code around after that and now I'm getting the same issue at a different location using IEnumerable - this time reading and filtering lines out of a file on disk (totally unrelated to White). Seems like it's a 'symptom-fix'. var lines = File.ReadLines(aFilePath).ToArray(); once again, if I remove the ToArray() it compiles again - it seems that any method that causes the enumerable to be evaluated (ToArray, Count, ToList, etc.) causes this. Let me try and get a working tiny-app to demo this issue... Update 2011 01 07 #3 Phew! More information.. It turns out the problem is just in one source file - this file is LINQ-phobic. Any call to an Enumerable extension method has to be explicitly called out. • Get the caret position when losing focus in WPF

  I have two textbox's. I have an event setup for the "onLostFocus" of the textbox's. If i finish typing a word into both boxes one after the other all is well. At the point where i click back on the first textbox i want to click halfway through the word (perfectly resonable thing for a user to do). At that point I refresh the whole form and set parameters and all other kinds of whizzery, storing the texbox index and caret position to put everything back the same. Why does it return 0 and not the position where the caret should be halfway between the word?

  Some time ago I posted about a question about reading Excel files as a server process, to get around the tighter restrictions Microsoft have been applying on Office Automation. I now need to extend this, by finding methods/libraries to read other sorts of Office files in an automated way on a server. The applications I'm interested in are Word, Powerpoint, Project and to a lesser extent Word and Visio. I need to be able to support 97-2003 office files, and the newer open xml formats (e.g. xlsx, docx) at a very least. With regards to Word integration, I also need to be able to handle writing/reading RTF text. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be pleased to hear them. Thanks

• Rails reserved words and convention

  After having spent a lot of time researching Rails reserved words and implementing, I still have a few questions regarding use. In my example here, I'll consider the reserved word 'time'. Let's say I want to create a class 'Timepiece'. Is it not recommended to use 'timepiece' because the name begins with 'time'? Would it be recommended to use 'time_piece' or to avoid inserting the reserved word at all? My question here is also about use of the exact reserved word within the class like that. Thank you.

I can easily create static words and for the last animating word i need to draw the static again n again. How can i create 2 separate layers so the static text is on one layer ( i will fill it after each second) and the last word (animated one) will be on other layer. How to create 2 separate layers? Attached on same screen but handling their drawRect method separately?

• Basic Profanity Filter in Objective C for iPhone

  How have you like minded individuals tackled the basic challenge of filtering profanity, obviously one can't possibly tackle every scenario but it would be nice to have one at the most basic level as a first line of defense. In Obj-c I've got NSString *tokens = [text componentsSeparatedByString:@" "]; And then I loop through each token to see if any of the keywords (I've got about 400 in a list) are found within each token. Realising False positives are also a problem, if the word is a perfect match, its flagged as profanity otherwise if more than 3 words with profanity are found without being perfect matches it is also flagged as profanity. Later on I will use a webservice that tackles the problem more precisely, but I really just need something basic. So if you wrote the word penis it would go yup naughty naughty, bad word written.

• Regex and Pattern Matching in Scala

  I am not strong in regex, and pretty new to Scala. I would like to be able to find a match between the first letter of a word, and one of the letters in a group such as "ABC". In pseudocode, this might look something like: case Process(word) => word.firstLetter match { case([a-c][A-C]) => case _ => } } but I don't know how to grab the first letter in Scala instead of Java, how to express the regular expression properly, nor if it's possible to do this within a case class. • Writing a post search algorithm.

  I'm trying to write a free text search algorithm for finding specific posts on a wall (similar kind of wall as Facebook uses). A user is suppose to be able to write some words in a search field and get hits on posts that contain the words; with the best match on top and then other posts in decreasing order according to match score. I'm using the edit distance (Levenshtein) "e(x, y) = e" to calculate the score for each post when compared to the query word "x" and post word "y" according to: score(x, y) = 2^(2 - e)(1 - min(e, |x|) / |x|) Each word in a post contributes to the total score for that specific post. This approach seems to work well when the posts are of roughly the same size, but sometime certain large posts manages to rack up score solely on having a lot of words in them while in practice not being relevant to the query. Am I approaching this problem in the wrong way or is there some way to normalize the score that I haven't thought of?
