  • Why configuring manual IP do not work for me in DHCP?

    I have broadband connection in my laptop. It's getting the IP by protocol. configuration is : ip : 192.168.1.2 subnet : 255.255.255.0 gateway : 192.168.1.1 Now I am curious, In IPV4 properties when instead of choosing "Obtain an IP address automatically", I choose "Use the following IP address" and configure everything same, why it do not work? Do DHCP do not work when we configure the IP manually? (operating system : windows-7) EDIT : After configuring the ip manually, when I used ipconfig/all , it's showing dhcp enabled : NO. I am not doing it. Why it got disabled automatically? and how to enable it?   • Copying Tables from a Website

    I have difficulty making an Excel-readable file from a table on a Website. The problems very specific to my question are: I have to use IE 7 to access the site. Excel is installed in another computer. The site does not let me view the HTML of the table. Normally, I would simply select the table I want and drag and drop it to Excel. Or, I would view the page source and copy the HTML data. Both do not work in this case. Is there any handy tool out there?

  • connected ethernet without disabling wireless, now I have *two* LAN ip's?

    Ok I'm on ubuntu 11.04, not too knowledgeable about network stuff. Usually people ask things like "wired works but wireless does not!". In m y case, I'm just curious about what it means to have both of them seemingly connected. In 'ipconfig' in shell I see that I have 192.168.1.2 for the wireless AND 192.168.1.3 for the ethernet. What does this mean for applications, does one of the two get precedence? It seems like my pages load slightly faster, so perhaps the ethernet is being used, but I could be imagining the speedup...

  • I think I disabled IE8's compatibility view

    I have an install of IE8 that doesn't have the compatibility view button next to the url bar. I vaguely remember during install that there was a question about whether it was to be available or not, I may have clicked no. Or maybe that was a dream. There are no options that I can see about it being available or not. Anyone know how to enable it? I'm about to try re-install but I'm hoping I can fix it without re-installing.   • All browsers hang on windows 7 in tab says 'Waiting for...' need restart

    I'm having a frustrating problem with browsers on OS windows 7 home premium. IE 10: My web browsing works ok for a while and then pages freeze and tab at top says "Waiting for ...' and never loads. Strangely I can still get to Google search results but if I click anything it freezes. Chrome freezes too and says 'The page has become unresponsive ...kill page' Safari stops also. I have tried clearing cookies, cache, turning off Bitdefender firewall and nothing apart from a restart fixes it. consequently I am forced to restart my computer several times a day to stop this browser hang. I have no idea what could be causing this ..any help greatly appreciated.

  • Certain websites do not open. Instead a 1*1 image gets displayed

    When I try to visit certain websites like www.bidvertiser.com, www.buysellads.com, a white page shows up, the title bar displays the site name followed by (1x1) in brackets. When I right click, 'View Source' option appears disabled. The Save As.. option shows the file type to be gif. However, when I preview the site in Google search results ( by moving the mouse over ) the screenshot of the site displays well. This happens on all the three browsers on my computer: Chrome, Firefox and IE. What is the problem and how can it be resolved? EDIT: At some point of time, they probably worked on my computer! I think it is a more general problem. The same happens when I click on certain links in Google search results.

    I'm based in the UK. I'd like to watch iplayer, 4od, youtube etc on my TV. I've looked at the Roku box, but as far as I can gather this doesn't support youtube or 4od. I don't have cable in my area and don't want to go with Sky. What options do I have, if any? UPDATE My TV has an HDMI connection. If a netbook is the best or only way to do this, which one would you recommend for connecting to my TV?

  • What causes "system call failed" and there are hanging ie processes?

    System: Windows 7 Home Premium IE: 11.0.9600.17107 When I have had many, many apps and windows open, sometimes I'll try to access a folder and get a dialog that says "System Call Failed". I have found the fix for it is to open the task manager and End Process Tree on iexplore.exe and iexplore.exe *32. Often times there will be several of these even when I have closed all my browser windows. Does anyone have any experience with this error?

  • Can IE Developer Tools be configured to 'see' a window that is less than full screen in size?

    I have used Developer Tools for IE for over 2 years, so I have some good experience with the tool. But the window that I need to debug now is less than a full screen in size and cannot be made larger. (Just imagine a large window that is approximately 2/3's of your full screen, but cannot be enlarged so that it is full screen). So when I try to utilize Developer Tools to debug the window, it doesn't work. It is as if Developer Tools tries to look at the full screen which is displayed behind my window that is displayed on the screen. Is there any way to make Developer Tools 'see' a window that is less than full screen in size and sits on top of another screen / web page?

    I was just downloading some stuff in ubuntu and snap, the connection cut and I can't even connect to my router. And the router, it still works fine, my laptop can connect wirelessly to it as usual. But my main computer (which connects to it directly through cable) can't even ping it.   • IE 8 "Find on this page" Feature is very slow

    I've tried to find a work around for this, but most of my searches end up in people who can't use the find-on-this-page feature at all in IE8. It appears for me, but for some reason takes forever to find things on a text heavy page, often making IE completely un-usable for several minutes.   • What would prevent the same ActiveX control from downloading on one internal website but not another?

    We have two internal webservers for an application at my company, one is the development server and the other is production. This application server will deploy and install and ActiveX control to allow the use of specific functionality. The ActiveX control is the exact same on both servers. Last week suddenly when trying to install and run this ActiveX control from the development server stopped working. IE will still prompt the user to install it, but when select "Install this Add-on for all users on this computer", nothing happens. Another IE window pops open and immediately closes and that is it. It is almost as if a pop-up blocker is running (but it is not enabled). The kicker which has me completely stumped is that if we try the same thing on the Production server, everything works as we would expect. Items of interest: Both servers are in the 'Trusted Sites' No pop-up blocker in IE is activated ActiveX controls for Trusted and Intranet Sites are all enabled. Has anyone experienced something similar? I'm not a Windows administrator so please feel free to explain things as elementary as you see fit.

  • Does Google Chrome take over all other browsers no matter what?

    I can not use either IE or Firefox since I have downloaded Google Chrome. I don't even have Chrome set as my default anymore but it opens up anyway. I need to use IE in order to download updates for Windows Movie Maker and I can only download it using IE, thanks to good old Microsoft. And no where can I find a way to access IE on my computer. It is not shown in programs and no shortcut was created on my desktop in the download. Any suggestions? I got to get this video down and I am on a tight deadline. Thanks.
