• SQL - Please Help - How can I select values from different rows depending on the most recent entry

  Hiya, Basically I have a table which is used to hold employee work wear details. It is formed of the columns: EmployeeID, CostCentre, AssociateLevel, IssueDate, TrouserSize, TrouserLength, TopSize & ShoeSize. An employee can be assigned a pair of trousers, a top and shoes at the same time or only one or two pieces of clothing. As we all know sepeoples sizes and employee levels can change which is why I need help really. I need to be able to select the most recent clothes size and associate level for each item of clothing for each employee. So for example if employee '54664LSS' was given a pair of 'XL' trousers and a 'L' top on 24/03/11 but then received a 'M' top on 26/05/10. Then the values of the 'M' sized top and the 'L' sized trousers would need to be returned. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm pretty stuck :(. Thanks.

• MySQL, replacing &nbsp; with... nothing (delete those, please!)

  I'm trying to purge my WordPress content from "false" carriage return (CR). These are caused after a migration of my content, that now presents from time to time a &nbsp; code that makes the web rendering engine to "paint" a CR where I would like to be nothing. The paragraphs seem to have a double CR because of this, and look too far apart. I'd like to be able to make a MySQL query in order to get rid of that strings, but at the moment I haven't found the key. What I've tried is UPDATE wp_posts set post_content = replace (post_content,'&nbsp;',' '); But i get <p> </p> where before were the &nbsp; strings. This seems not the answer at all. Could it have to be with the ampersand, and in that case, should I use something like &amp;nbsp; or something similar?

• Email Deliverability on Yahoo is very poor. Any suggestions please?

  All other ISPs (Google, AOL, Hotmail) are fantastic, hitting 98-100% in the inbox. Yahoo is very random, and lately our deliverability has dropped drastically. All IPs are senders certified by Return Path and supposedly that automatically whitelists our IPs and allows us to send as many emails as we want (from what my boss says). Do I bother with applying to Yahoo's bulk sender form? I run every email campaign through: SpamAssassin (Excellent Scores) Test Accounts (for test deliverability) Old school HTML format I'm running out of ideas and I'm starting to be in the hot seat and I am very fearful for my job position. If you can offer any wise words i will be very grateful. Thank you in advance.

  I'm going mad over figuring out what the problem could be with one of our storage boxes. With a simple fio script I'm testing random writes using bs=1M and direct=1. The SSD is a Samsung 840pro attached to an LSI HBA (3Gbit/s ports). This is the result I'm getting under FreeBSD 9.1: WRITE: io=13169MB, aggrb=224743KB/s, minb=224743KB/s, maxb=224743KB/s, mint=60002msec, maxt=60002msec This is regardless of sync being set to 0 or 1. On linux, this is the result with sync=0: WRITE: io=14828MB, aggrb=253060KB/s, minb=253060KB/s, maxb=253060KB/s, mint=60001msec, maxt=60001msec and with sync=1: WRITE: io=6360.0MB, aggrb=108542KB/s, minb=108542KB/s, maxb=108542KB/s, mint=60001msec, maxt=60001msec My understanding is that since I'm operating on the raw block device, O_SYNC should not make any difference - there's no filesystem, any barrier, anything between the writes and the drive itself. Especially with O_DIRECT|O_SYNC set. Any ideas? • Please wait for User Profile Service... on WIndows 7 takes around 1-2 minutes to process

  When loggging into our domain, after entering account credentials the log in process takes around 1-2 minutes before it gets past the User Profile Service, the rest of the process takes 2-3 secs. This effects all machines running Windows 7 Enteprise 32-bit and is on fairly high spec laptops (SSD drives, i5 2.93Ghz CPU, 4GB memory). Is there any way to speed this up or is this time delay acceptable? Thanks in advance.

• Sony Vaio PCG-71315L "Wireless is disabled by hardware switch" Help!

  I'm a new user to Ubuntu and Linux as a whole, I've had it for a few months and just as I'm starting to get a feel for things my wireless decided to quit on me. This puzzled me so i checked all the switches on the Vaio; my wireless switch was on (my bluetooth was also working), and in my windows partition the problem is non-existent. Help please? I downloaded the database reference help file but I could not understand from where I can start. It just gave the table name and its information.   Trying to find out how to "modify" KMS to also accept the Office 2010 KMS key. Can anyone point me to some document about this? Basically - do I have to install an update to KMS? I wand my KMS server to authenticate both, Windows (It currently has a DataCenter R2 KMS key installed) as well as Office 2010. Keys are available ;) I can not imagine I just ptu it in - would this not overwrite the DataCenter key? I tried the MSDN website, but there is no clear document visible for my question.

• Problem with setting up raid5 on Freenas, Please help.

  Hey Guys, I've been running Freenas for awhile now. Hardware is 1.8celeron Ram 1GB Sata Card is Via - not sure the model.... its 2 ports and I have 6 x 1.5TB HDs All ran ok while running on 1.5TB, no raid. I'm now trying to create a raid5 with my 6 hds. Software raid... is it normal for it to take roughly up to 2 weeks just to build the raid? Sorry, I'm very new to implementing raid and googling doesn't tell much other than it takes a long time. Also the Raid building process seems to fail many times... going to degraded. I suspect its cos 4 of my HDs are connected to my motherboard and the other 2 are connected to my sata card...what's your take? I'm considering 2 options now... either get a 8 port sata card and attach all the HDs to it. Or get a raid controller 8 portcard which is probably gonna be more pricey... also how do you access hardware raid through Freenas? I like how Freenas emails you should your harddrive fails so can this be done as well with hardware raid? Thanks in advance guys.

  There are specific folders designed for specific tasks. /var/www holds your web sites, /usr/bin contains files to run your applications...yet I still find myself putting nearly all of my work in ~. Is it possible to overuse my home directory? Will it come back to haunt me? Anyone have a good link to an article of best practices for organizing your files so that they are placed in their "correct" place? Is there even such a thing in Linux? I am referring specifically to user-generated content. I do not compile applications from source, I use apt-get for those tasks. This article has a great introduction to what I'm looking for. Table 3-2, "Subdirectories of the root directory" is the sort of thing I'm looking for, but with more details/examples.

  Hi, I modify my Computer case so that I can add more computer fan to make my computer cool this summer. I would need your thoughts how I can improve my idea and I'm open to all of your advices. Status: Fan Position (The blue circles are the fan's location) At the side I have to intake blowing fresh air at the motherboard and at the top and back I have Exhaust fan blowing out hot air. The computer fans will be powered by 12v adapter (recycled) so that my power supply wouldn't be overloaded. I need a practical advice, I don't want to spend to much on this. Thanks.

• MySQL keeps crashing OS server.. Please help adjust my.ini!

  I have MySQL 5.0 installed on a Windows 2008 machine (3GB RAM). My server crashes on a regular basis (almost once a day) with this error: Changed limits: max_open_files: 2048 max_connections: 800 table_cache: 619 I did not use the heavy InnoDB .ini file, although I am rethinking that I should have? I am worried that big configuration changes will make my current sites stop working. What should I do? • Can somebody please recommend a good local file backup utility that will be Windows & OSX Compatible?

  I have an external hard drive that I keep all of my work files on and transfer them back and forth between my Windows 7 box at work, and my Mac at home (I work from home frequently). Can someone recommend a really good backup utility that I can use on that external drive, to back the files up to my work computer locally, or the other external drive on my machine at work? I'm looking for preferably a free or open source software, and I'd prefer it to be cross system compatible, although I would also consider using a software that will only work on the Windows box. Also, I will consider a software that has a price assuming it is a really good piece of software and the price is reasonable (like under $50 or so). I checked out CrashPlan a bit, but not sure if that's gonna be really what I'm looking for. To reiterate I'm not looking for online backup solutions, just a piece of software that can back up my data to another drive locally. CrashPlan Free seems to offer this, but not sure how good it is (considering their goal is to get me to buy a pay for version). *NOTE: I'm running Windows 7 in 64bit so I need a piece of software that will be compatible with 64bit OS. My previous software, PC Backup, is not. That's partly why I'm in this boat.

• Please recommend tools for PC, browser, home network performance problems?

  My client is experiencing some odd response behavior in their browser for the past few days. Classic, "nothing has changed" so I am starting at ground zero. Browsing a website will timeout or take a ridiculous time to load -- other times, the same site and query is immediately responsive. Once a connection is established, video streams are uninterrupted. The home network hosts a website, but it is not experiencing any activity in Apache's 'access.log' I am using speedtest.net to check if the ISP through the internet is 'OK' -- which looks typical (average +/-). I have to suspect the home network is beaconing or something very abnormal, but I don't know where to start.

• Connecting via ShrewSoft VPN client means no LAN internet access (Windows 7 64 bit) - any advice please?

  I have a Windows 7 64 bit desktop machine which is connected to a LAN. I recently installed ShrewSoft VPN client v 2.1.7 on my machine so that I can connect to a license server hosted by my customer. They are running a Cisco VPN server and I originally tried (unsuccessfully!) to use the Cisco VPN client for Windows 64 bit but the default gateway wasn't being configured correctly after loading in my pcf file. Using ShrewSoft I am able to import the same pcf file, and successfully connect to the machine I need to using the VPN client software. The client machine I need to connect to has IP address 1.52.90.33. The problem is that when I am connected to the customer network using the VPN client application (and after a few minutes) I lose my LAN internet connection. I can only presume that this is because, by default the ShrewSoft VPN client application automatically tunnels all traffic through the VPN connection. I know there is an option to switch off the "Tunnel All" option on the Policy tab of the application and enter a Remote Network Resource (to "Include" or "Exclude") as "Address" and "Netmask" IP addresses however I am not sure what I need to enter here. • Wi-Fi Connection Issues.. tried a lot.. pls help

  I am posting a question for the first time, do not know coding and am relatively new to ubuntu, but a quick learner. I have an Acer Aspire One D270 notebook that came originally with Windows 7 starter installed. I have removed that and installed Ubuntu 12.04 I have chronic issues with connecting to the wi-fi. I figure it is due to issues with the driver(s) I think this is the driver I have- BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter (on entering this in the terminal- lshw -C) I also installed the software Windows wireless drivers and it shows currently installed drivers as blank- but when i choose install new drivers, it asks me to select inf file which I do not know where to find. Please help with this, coders. Thanks a ton
