• Need to dynamically-generate a "sticky note" text

  Working on a website that has an image of a sticky note which will change text somewhat frequently (every month or so) as new "todo" items are created on it. Font I'm currently using is not Web Safe and the text is slightly angled to match the skew of the sticky note as well. Now I'm a pragmatist, and in situations like this I would normally secede defeat and opt for something more CSS/HTML practical. But no more! I'm falling a bit behind on what's going on with HTML5, CSS3, PNG graphics, Flash (ugh), and/or any other rich visuals. I'm decent with PHP/CSS/JS (jquery), have dabbled in Flash/actionscript too. My question is: what tools/method should I be looking at here?

  Hi All, I am referring to the link: http://www.tux4u.nl/freedocs/unix/draw/inode.pdf I am confused on parts: 1 12 direct block pointers 2 1 single indirect block pointer 3 1 double indirect block pointer 4 1 triple indirect block pointer Now the diagram says that each pointer is 32/64 bits. [Query]: Why and how are these values inferred? I mean why specifically have only 32 or 64 bit pointers? The diagram says, One data block{8 KB} for each pointer {4 bytes/8 bytes} [Query]: How does this actually work out? i.e. 8*1024 bytes / 8 bytes = 1024 bytes? • Need some advice on a language to use for a 'presentation display board'

  As part of the project i am working on I am looking to produce some software that works on a LCD display (think call center info boards) and displays various graphs (the bars grow etc in realtime, so incoming call stats etc etc) and flicks between various 'plug-ins'. The problem is deciding what language to use.. I am thinking about using the XNA framework, as this will allow me to do some nice 3d effects, add a nice glow effect, play videos etc. I can have for example the company logo defused spinning slowly behind the current data display. I know however, the XNA framework is a bit left field for this. Or is there a better alternative? Thanks..

  I'm in this project: A web page that's gonna be used by the front-end company people to query and update data from a SQL DB. I'm working with visual studio and the code behind (C#) is almost done, so the interactions between SQL and C# and ok. My original idea was to work with ASP.NET which is familiar to me, but that's not gonna be possible. I have to switch to PHP. So, today is my first day learning PHP, checking http://php.net/manual/en/index.php and a lot of things seem quite similar to ASP.NET so I guess it won't be that hard. Anyways, some questions popped up quite fast as I wanted to script something else than a "hello world" . Is there an easy way to get/send C# variables from my class using a php page? I've read soemthing about using XML in order to do so, but still I'm scratching my head, is there another, easier, way to do this?

  I have a very large javascript file: it's over 9,000 lines. The code looks like this: var GlobalVar1 = ""; var GlobalVar2 = null; function A() {...} function B(SomeParameter) {...} I'm using the google compiler and the global variables and functions get renamed a,b,c... and there's a good change that there might be some collision later with some outside code. What I want to do is have my code organized like the jquery library where everything is accessible with $. Is there a way to namespace my code so that everything is behind a # character for example. I'd like to have this to call my code: #.GlobalVar #.functionA(SomeParameter) How can I do this? Thanks.

  For example, In an ActivityA there's a button to create an Intent that will start ActivityB in a new task, like this: Intent i = new Intent(this, ActivityB.class); i.setData(Uri.parse("http://www.google.com")); long timestamp = System.currentTimeMillis(); i.putExtra("ts", timestamp); i.addFlag(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); Log.d(TAG, "Sending: " + timestamp); startActivity(i); Then in ActivityB's onResume() method, there's this code to check the timestamp: long timestamp = getIntent().getExtras().getLong("ts"); Log.d(TAG, "Receiving: " + timestamp); Now the first time I invoke ActivityB from ActivityA I get the following logs: Sending: 120006000 Receiving: 120006000 Then if I left ActivityB running in the background (by pressing Home button), and start ActivityA then invoke ActivityB again, the following is printed: Sending: 120013000 Receiving: 120006000 It seems although ActivityB is brought to front by the new Intent. The extra field in the intent is being left behind. Is this a bug or an intended behavior?

  I’m trying to use a Visual Studio Setup Project to deploy a C# Application. In a VS Setup project, is it possible to dynamically change the application folder before a project is installed, or even to add any code behind the set-up project at all? What I am trying to achieve is an msi that runs, calculates the installation directory based on some external factors and then installs to that directory. I then want it to run the application immidiately. The objective for this is no user intervention throughout.

  hi guys. so i have this form and on it is a combo box populated from a database via a SQL method. and i have another form which allows us to maintain the database table etc. so i make a new instance of the second form doing: Form1 frm = new Form2; frm.show(); once i have done what ever i wanted to do on the second form and i close it, i need to somehow trigger an event or something which will refresh the combo box and the code behind it. i was thinking of some onchange or focus event for the whole form, the problem is i have 5 of these combo boxes and running all the SQL again. i also thought of passing somesort of variable thro but then i would still need an event for that. any ideals would be awesome

• SSRS 2005 Keep textbox and textfield together when page break occurs

  Problem I don't have a details row or anything. I have simply a body and I dragged on textboxes for labeling textfields from my dataset. The problem is when one of the fields has too much data for the current page, it "page-breaks" at the start of the field leaving the textbox (label for the field) behind on the previous page. What I've tried Put the data field and the textbox label a) inside a rectangle - didn't work b) inside a list and the list inside a rectangle - didn't work c) inside a list with keep together property set to TRUE or FALSE - didn't work Question How would I group the textbox and the textfield so that regardless of where the pagebreak happens it includes its label?

  Hi all, I am thinking to create an e-commerce site for a clothing business. I have bit of a development knowledge in c# .net, html, css and other web technologies. Could you please advise on these questions ? Is it a good idea to create a site from the scratch ? I have a running example of such a site, however it is bit old. So can I start with old site and change the html and code behind ? Some people argue that it is better to use MVC for ecommerce site. Any good reasons ? BTW I don't know MVC, but can learn if I have to use it. It is decided to use .NET but if you have any ideas of better technologies, please let me know.   I have two classes A & B, and a listbox. I assign listBox.ItemsSource equal to a collection of objects of type A. The listbox items are visualized using silverlight data templating, see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.datatemplate.aspx and http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/UserControlAsDataTemplate.aspx for example. The listbox.ItemTemplate is a DataTemplate that uses class B to visualize the listbox items. Now, in my code-behind, inside any method of class B, if I do this.DataContext, it points to an object of type A. Thus, given an object of type B, I can find the corresponding object of type A. So far so good. My question is, given an object of type A, how can I navigate to the corresponding object of type B? Is this even possible in SL?

• Send custom data when initializing java WebService over soap

  Hello. I have a question about sending additional data over soap to the functions. My webService function requests only one integer, for example an getDocumentPrivilage(DocumentID). In another WebService user registered and he got an unique ID, so the other application can see who he is. So on Service one he registers, gets id and it has to send it to the other webservice tor the privilage. Id dont wish to rewrite the function so that it gets the unique ID (like this getDocumentPrivilage(uniqID,DocumentID)) but, the wish is that i would be able to create a client that sends this data at the initialization or somehow as some sort of parameter behind the function. Is this possible?? I tried the ServiceLifecycle but cant see any setting i've given in. Im using WebSphere CE for the server and Jax-ws Creating the webapp in java. • How to figure out why ssh session does not exit sometimes?

  I have a C++ application that uses ssh to summon a connection to the server. I find that sometimes the ssh session is left lying around long after the command to summon the server has exited. Looking at the Centos4 man page for ssh I see the following: The session terminates when the command or shell on the remote machine exits and all X11 and TCP/IP connections have been closed. The exit status of the remote program is returned as the exit status of ssh. I see that the command has exited, so I imagine not all the X11 and TCP/IP connections have been closed. How can I figure out which of these ssh is waiting for so that I can fix my summon command's C++ application to clean up whatever is being left behind that keeps the ssh open. I wonder why this failure only occurs some of the time and not on every invocation? It seems to occur approximately 50% of the time. What could my C++ application be leaving around to trigger this?

  There is quite a tier of organization in Eclipse. You can have multiple workspaces, each of which can have projects, these projects can be assigned to working sets, and then each project can have source folders... How do you use all this organization? Do you even use it all? Working sets are so hidden that I hardly know what they are; are they commonly used, or are they hidden because they are so uncommonly used? What is even the methodology behind all this? I'd like a good explanation of the recommended way to use all these different organizational layers, because at the moment I basically just have a bunch of random projects in a single workspace (the default %USER%/workspace folder) and it's getting to be quite an alphabetical mess. So in essence: How do you keep your Eclipse workspace(s) organized?

There is mutual agreement between the developers and Product Managers that there should be a business case behind every feature the development team builds. My question is, what is an effective way to make a business case for platform-level features that have higher up front cost but will provide long term benefits? For example, the development team would like to implement a plug-in framework. There is the higher up-front cost to implement a plug-in framework but delivering the subsequent features as plug-ins will be cheaper in the long run. This is obvious to everyone including the Product Managers. Is there a standard/simple way to express the cost-benefits? Is there a simple way to visualize it with a graph?

Later new SchemaExport(this.nhibernateConfiguration) .SetOutputFile(filePath) .Execute(false, false, false); fluentDatabaseProvider is a FluentNHibernate IPersistenceConfigurer which is needed to get proper sql dialect for database creation. When factory is created with an existing database, everything works fine. But what i want to do is to create an NHibernate Configuration object on a selected database engine without a real database behind the scene... And i don't manage to do this. If anybody has some idea.

But it is picking up super class's field value only.
