    Hi, I write a little ruby script, which sends me an email when a new commit added to our svn. I get the log with this code: log = `/usr/bin/svnlook log #{ARGV[0]}` When I run my script from bash I get good encoded character in the email, but when I try it and create a new commit I get wrong hungarian characters. I commited this: tes oéá I get this in the email: Log: tes ?\197?\145?\195?\169?\195?\161 How can I solve this issue?

  • Turn off Jquery UI Accordion animation only during page load

    I'd like to turn off the accordian animation during page load, and then turn it back on after the page is loaded. Basically I've got multiple forms inside the accordion sections and when submitted the page gets reloaded and the relevant section is reloaded. But during the reload the animation is triggered which looks a little ugly. But I like it when the page is not being loaded. How do I achieve this effect?

  • How does JSON compare to XML in terms of file size and serialisation/deserialisation time?

    I have an application that performs a little slow over the internet due to bandwidth reasons. I have enabled GZip which has improved download time by a significant amout, but I was also considering whether or not I could switch from XML to JSON in order to squeeze out that last bit of performance. Would using JSON make the message size significantly smaller, or just somewhat smaller? Let's say we're talking about 250kB of XML data (which compresses to 30kB).

I have written a rather bad wrapper class, but does anyone know of where to get a better one?   • Why is C++ backward compatible with C ? Why isn't there some "pure" C++ language ?

    C and C++ are different languages, blababla we know that. But if those language are different, why is it still possible to use function like malloc or free ? I'm sure there are all sort of dusty things C++ has because of C, but since C++ is another language, why not remove those things to make it a little less bloat and more clean and clear ? Is it because it allows programmers to work without the OO model or because some compilers doesn't support high-level abstract features of C++ ?

    Simple question I think, I am a little unsure as to why decimal currentPercentage = 0; currentPercentage = currentPercentage*((decimal)1 / (decimal)daysPerYear--);//or currentPercentage *= ((decimal)1 / (decimal)daysPerYear--); Will return 0 everytime but (decimal)1 / (decimal)daysPerYear--; will return the decimal I am after. What am I missing here?

  • Good C++ Debugging/IDE Environment for Linux?

    I have a friend who is trying to make the switch to Linux, but is hung up on the apparent lack of debugging/IDE environments for C++, especially as they relate to template programming. He has been using visual studio for years and is maybe a little spoiled by their awesome IDE. Does anyone have any good suggestions for an environment where he can, under Linux, develop and debug with all of the usual things (Breakpoints, line highlighting for compilation errors, step in/over/out/etc, etc) that he's accustomed to?     Is there a way to "declare" a variable with a particular user-defined type in MATLAB? zeros() only works for built-in numeric types. The only solution I've come up with involves using repmat() to duplicate a dummy object zero times: arr = repmat(myClass(), [1 0]) Without declaring variables this way, any code which does "arr(end+1) = myClass()" has to include a special case for the default empty matrix which is of type double. Have I missed something a little more sensible?
