  Heres the deal: I am by no means a Linux expert, even less when it comes to the Android OS but lets see if we can't solve this problem. The problem I am having is that on the Cliq we have a broadcom chip. In order to use the wireless card you must first insert the module into the kernel.   I run a small HTTP web proxy site . We can not modify anything there in Proxy program. Few users mainly use Yahoo Web mail for Spamming and We need to block yahoo web mail access only ( complete yahoo website is also Ok) through our proxy . specially .mail.yahoo.com.. Like - we need to block URL like - http://uk-mg61.mail.yahoo.com http://in-mg61.mail.yahoo.com etc. etc. Note : We generaly open http://mail.yahoo.com in browser - but after loggin in it forwards it to Urls like above but all those are subdomain of mail.yahoo.com My target is if we can get all IP list for all available subdomain of mail.yahoo.com I can block it totally . We can only use IPTABLE ...I know using proxy itself we can check HTTP header and check Host field for .mail.yahoo.com. and block it. Solution : Follwoign what I did using IPtable . I collected IP CIDR block for yahoo mainly for yahoo web mail ( mail.yahoo.com ) as much as possible ( using linux host and whois command ) [ like 66.163.160.0/19 nd 98.136.0.0/14 etc ] and applied follwing command Like iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d 66.163.160.0/19 -m state --state NEW -j DROP etc. Things are working fine. user can not access yahoo mail BUT the problem is I need to be updated with the avaialble CIDR YAHOO IP list ... I am ready to do it every week. I collected many from Net... You know theer are countles subdomain of mail.yahoo.com and seems every week Yahoo adding new IP... But what I observed some time user can bypass our rule and the reason obvously all the avaialble Ips are not entered in IPtable yet. What we need to do is enter all Ips of mail.yahoo.co But where do I find all subdomain for mail.yahoo.com I know we can get it from DNS but I must not be allowed to make DNS axfr query. Also doing reverse DNS will have performance issue. I want to know all subdomain of .mail.yahoo.c Can I get it from yahoo site. I have the list of all YAHOO smtp IP....but I need webmail Ip... ( http://public.yahoo.com/carloc/ymail.html ) Can you please share your Idea. Thank you

• Weird random application hang problem

  I am trying to understand an application hang problem that started up lately on my windows xp system. The system runs fine for days (sometimes) without ever shutting down or putting it to sleep, but the problem first shows up as one of the apps hanging. The application's UI stops responding or one or more background threads hang, so even though the GUI is responding, it is not doing anything (e.g., in VirtualDub's case, the UI responds fine, but the job doesn't progress and I won't even be able to abort it). The weirdness part comes from the fact that if I try to kill such an app, the program that is used to kill it goes into the same mode (i.e, that hangs instead of the original). E.g., if I use Process Explorer to kill it, the original program exits, but procexp now hangs. If I use another instance of procexp to kill the one that is hanging, this repeats, so there is always at least one program hanging in that state. This is not specific to procexp, I tried the native task manager and even the "End Process" dialog from windows explorer that shows up when you try to close a non-responsive GUI (in this case, the explorer itself hangs). The only program that didn't hang after the kill, is the command line taskkill. However, in this case, explorer hangs instead of taskkill. Also, once this problem starts manifesting, it soon ends up freezing the whole system to the extent that even a clean shutdown is not possible, so I have learned to reboot as soon as I notice this problem, however this is very inconvenient, as I often have encoding batch jobs going on which can't continue the job after the restart. The longer I leave the system running after seeing this problem, the more applications get into this state. I have tried to do a repair install but that didn't make any difference. I also uninstalled some of the newer installs, but again no difference. I tried to search online, but got inundating results for generic hang and crash related problems. Though I couldn't notice any pattern, it seems as though the problem is more frequent if I have some video encoding going on at that time. I had the system running for days when I only do browsing and internet audio/video chat before I decide to start encoding something and the problem starts to show up. I am not too sure if it is the encoding program that first hangs, though I almost always noticed that too hanging (like the VirtualDub stopping to make progress). I also had to reboot 3 times on one day when I was heavily experimenting with encoding. I would appreciate any help in narrowing down this problem and save me the trouble of reinstalling. I don't especially want to loose my gotd installs.

• Quantifying the effects of partition mis-alignment

  I'm experiencing some significant performance issues on an NFS server. I've been reading up a bit on partition alignment, and I think I have my partitions mis-aligned. I can't find anything that tells me how to actually quantify the effects of mis-aligned partitions. Some of the general information I found suggests the performance penalty can be quite high (upwards of 60%) and others say it's negligible. What I want to do is determine if partition alignment is a factor in this server's performance problems or not; and if so, to what degree? So I'll put my info out here, and hopefully the community can confirm if my partitions are indeed mis-aligned, and if so, help me put a number to what the performance cost is. Server is a Dell R510 with dual E5620 CPUs and 8 GB RAM. There are eight 15k 2.5” 600 GB drives (Seagate ST3600057SS) configured in hardware RAID-6 with a single hot spare. RAID controller is a Dell PERC H700 w/512MB cache (Linux sees this as a LSI MegaSAS 9260). OS is CentOS 5.6, home directory partition is ext3, with options “rw,data=journal,usrquota”. • Lync server 2010 Active Directory Preparation with a Windows Server 2003 DC

  I'm trying to install Lync server 2010 but i'm stuck for a while now with the "Active Directory Preparation" part of the Lync server 2010 installation. The "Prepare Schema" fails with the following error: "Step 1: Prepare Schema Run once per deployment. Extends the schema for Lync Server. Not Available: Failure occurred while attempting to check the schema state. Please ensure Active Directory is reachable." screenshot: https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=CB15F1A932B364BE&id=CB15F1A932B364BE%211742 The situation: 1 server with Windows Server 2003 (x86), which is the only Domain Controller (DC) 1 server with Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) where Lync should be installed. First I have found that the DFL/FFL were not correct: On the DC (server2003) I have changed the Domain Functional Level to Windows Server 2003 and also the Forest Functional Level to Windows Server 2003. If I check these settings on the Server2008 with Active Directory Domains and Trusts, I see indeed that the DFL and FFL are being set to Windows Server 2003. (Windows Server 2003 is the minimum required for Lync server 2010) I tried the Lync AD Preparation again but still got the same message: https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=CB15F1A932B364BE&id=CB15F1A932B364BE%211742 I'm logged in on the Server2008 and Server2003 with the domain administrator account. If I check "Active Directory Users and Computers" and go to the directory Users and watch the properties from the Administrator User then it is also a Member of: Domain Admins Domain Users Enterprise Admins Schema Admins Group Policy Creator Owners The firewall on the server2008 is turned off, still nog working So now my question is: what should I do to make the Lync setup (Active Directory Preparation) work?   Hi all, Having difficulties setting up Bare Metal recovery in DPM 2010. Does anyone know of a good guide/walkthrough to talk me through a basic setup? I have tried most of the DPM knowledge base without much luck. I can perform System State backups, but as soon as I enable bare metal the jobs start failing. • PCI-express - is there a typo in the Intel 5500 overview

  The overview for the 5500 and 5520 chipsets state that there is a total bandwidth of up to 48GB/s on each PCI Express x8 interface. http://www.intel.com/products/server/chipsets/5500-5520/5500-5520-overview.htm My understanding (admittedly from wikipedia) is that PCI-e Gen 2 runs at 500MB/s per lane. The 5520 has 36 lanes, and so would be limited to a total of 18GB/s. Am I missing something here, or is Intel's claimed 48GB/s a typo that should say 18GB/s ?

  I have been advise by Commvault partner support to turn off the backup of the master database as the backup failed due to the log file being lock. The following is the advise given: "The message is caused by Commvault’s inability to backup the master database’s transaction log.   VMWare tools not installing on Ubuntu 12.04. I'm using Chef to manage the installation, but the Apt commands fail if run manually. I'm using the VMWare tool Debian repo. Example: $ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/vmware-tools-source.list deb http://packages.vmware.com/tools/esx/5.0u2/ubuntu precise main When trying to install, most packages seem to go ok, but one, "vmware-tools-foundation", does not. I've googled and googled but there is no answer to this question with my particular circumstances on the interwebs. VMWare's documentation of this error is minimal.

• SUnreclaim size increasing in syc with a TCP-CLOSE_WAIT till application restart

  Recently found a behaviour where my application had a connection in TCP Close_wait state till the app was restarted (after about 5 hours). But during this period the SUnreclaim space was also increasing constantly and went down on restart. The application is runnning on a rhel5 os and Im not very familiar with the memory management system. Would appreciate if someone clould tell me what extactly is the Ureclaim space and why it is increasing in sync with the close_wait. Thanks.

• Why is my mail stuck in the queue with the status "retry" in Exchange 2003?

  I have been having a problem recently where some of our mail is not getting to clients. I looked into the Message queue on my SBS2k3 server and noticed that several recipients are showing up in the queue with a state of "Retry". When I highlight the recipient, the additional queue information says "An SMTP protocol error occured". How can I find out more specifically what error occured, and how could I then go about correcting it? Thanks, Mike

  I tried to create a full-text index and got this error: Msg 9967, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 A default full-text catalog does not exist in database 'foo' or user does not have permission to perform this action. FYI--I connected to the target sql server with Windows Authentication. What do I need to do in Sql Server 2005 and/or in Windows Server 2003 to get permissions? Please be thorough (assume I am a n00b). Thank you.

• Linux not picking up new partition correctly on emc pseudo device

  Hi We have a database server running oracle rac. We were recently running out of space on the main LUN that it is attached to. I created a new 100GB LUN and concatenated this onto the existing LUN creating a new MetaLUN. After some messing I managed to get linux to recognise the new space. I then created a new partition in on the pseudo device, to use the new space. Previously when I have done this on other system the next step is to create an ASM disk on the new partition and add this disk to the oracle disk group. This however fails. I am aware of various issues with ASM and powerpath, but I don't think this is the issue here. As on while investigating the issue I discovered that one of the underlying logical device is not reflecting the size change. • Can I run 8 to 12 Monitors from one Laptop?

  I would like to run at least 8 monitors & possibly 12, from a Dell Precision M6800 mobile Laptop Workstation. Monitors I want to run are Dell U2412M ( 1920x1200 ) Ultra Sharp Monitors. The specs for the Laptop are : Intel Core i7-4700MQ Processor (17.3") UltraSharp FHD(1920x1080) 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3L AMD FirePro M6100 w/2GB GDDR5 2.5 inch 500GB Solid State Hybrid Drive Is it possible to do it & if yes, what other hardware, software do I need besides monitors ?
