  • Modify EXE to stop launching firefox

    I'm using a wireless modem program from my ISP. This program automatically disconnect when it detects the line is idle. It does so in 2-5 minutes of idle time. Whenever I reconnect, It will automatically fire up my default browser to the ISP portal. I DID NOT pay them to shove their web portal in my face 50 times a day. The ISP provides no options for disabling this behavior. Can someone please show me how to hex edit the EXE program to stop it from annoying the hell out of me?

For example if you choose 'Project', then you can compile to .dll and each page gets a *.aspx.designer.cs codebehind file. 1) Why do we have these two different project types? 2) Which do you prefer? 3) Why would I choose one over the other? 4) What's the deal with the *.aspx.designer.cs files?

How can I do that manually, some good examples of WCF Systems (mostly on desktop applications over TCP). I'd like a book or documentation or anything else, that can give me advanced knowledge of WCF.     I am trying to test my web service using SOAPUI (the free version). For testing concurrency, I wished to fire concurrent threads from SOAPUI onto the service. But with the options, the thread count increases gradually (even in the burst mode). The machine where SOAPUI is installed is a WinXP machine. Can I actually do the concurrency testing? If so how?   • Respecting EXIF orientation when displaying iPhone photos on the web

    I am developing an iPhone camera app that uploads an image to Amazon S3 and that image is displayed on a website. When the iPhone takes a picture, it always saves the photo in an upright orientation, while the orientation used to correctly view the photo is saved in the image's EXIF data. So if I take a photo with the iPhone and open it in FireFox without processing the EXIF data, the image could be sideways or upside down. My problem is that I don't know how to display the photo in it's correct orientation on the website. My current solution is to rotate the photo in the iPhone app, but I'd rather not do that. Is there anyway to respect the EXIF data when displaying on the web without pre-processing the image?

  • GKSession sendDataToAllPeers including sender?

    I've got a number of devices connected over wifi using GameKit. I have a simple UIAlertView popping up when peers receive data. All but the sendee show this alert view when data is sent, so I'm wondering if that's a bug in my app or if that's expected behavior. If the device doing the sending is also a GKSessionModePeer, I would expect it to "fire" its receiveData: message as well since I'm sending to all peers. Should I call a method manually at the same on the sendee device? For example, if I wanted to send a "GameStart" packet to the 4 phones, the peers would call startGame: in the receiveData:fromPeer:inSession:context: method when it receives that packet and the sendee would be calling sendDataToAllPeers: and call startGame: on itself. Does that sound right or is there a way to include the sendee in the sendDataToAllPeers: list so that it responds exactly the same as all connected peers?

  • Android - When to use Service

    This question is related to my previous question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2786720/android-service-ping-url So I have an Android app that on the click of a button, opens up a web page. Now, in the background I want to call another http url for gathering stats. My question is does this have to be a service? I know a service is for background tasks that run for an indefinite period of time, while the user is busy doing something else. In my case, all I really need is to get the URL in the background, not show it to the user, instead show the web page to the user. Can I just not write code to get contents of the http url and fire up the activity that displays the web page? Coz all I want is to get the url in the background and be done with it. Or does this have to be done using the Service class? I am confused. Thanks Chris

  • How can I determine if jquery tab is shown because of user click or from tab rotation

    I've been using the jQuery UI tabs for a bit now and an interesting request has come up. The current tab setup is using the rotation feature. I need to find a way to determine if the tab is shown because of the result of the rotation itself, or because a user physically clicked the tab. I've wired up all of the standard events, show and select and they fire regardless of the source of the tab change. Does anyone have any ideas? Basically I'd like to do something additional if the user clicked the tab, but not if the tab changes by itself via the rotation. If I wire up the click even to the tabs themselves it doesn't seem to get fired at all, I'm assuming because the tabs widget is using that event itself.

  • How to pass data to another droid device when the other device isn't expecting it

    I am working on an application and one feature that would make it really useful is the ability to share some information, but the other device may not be expecting the data to be sent. For example, if I am reading a really good book, and I realize that a friend may like it, I could use an application to send the data to him, so he could order the book from Amazon. But, since he isn't expecting the data, I would hate for the application to be polling a server every so often, as that will be needlessly draining the battery. Ideally it would be great if there was a way to make a phone call to the target device, send a data packet and end the call. If it could be done and prevent the phone from ringing, then it would be very useful to me. I am curious if there is some way to send data between devices without polling.

  • jQuery Autocomplete losing text on AutoPostBack

    I have a jQuery Autocomplete field on an ASP.Net Webform and everything has been working great until now. I also have a DropDownList that I have a need to fire onSelectedIndexChanged with AutoPostBack. When I changed my code to do the AutoPostBack, the text field that has the jQuery AutoComplete on it comes back blank. However, if I look at the source of the page, the text is in the text field. If I now post the form, the page will send back a blank field. My Google-Fu is weak on this one, as I could not come up with any workaround for it. Has anyone had any issues like this with the Autocomplete field getting blanked out on an AutoPostBack, and how did you get around it? I can post code if it's really necessary, but I'd need to sanitize a lot of it before I could due to company policy.

    Hi. I have an issue with System.Threading.Timer. I am scheduling some actions using a time in a windows service. The timer starts executing the callback after a specified dueTime period. The windows service starts up after reboot automatically. However, I have observed a strange thing after a system reboot- the callback method starts executing itself 3 or 4 minutes before the specified period. What might be the reason for such behavior? However, when debugging with firebug the callback in unable to find the Javascript method and I do not know why.     I have a need to run a piece of code every 120 seconds. I am looking for an easy way to do this in VBA. I know that it would be possible to get the timer value from the Auto_Open event to prevent having to use a magic number, but I can't quite get how to fire off a timer to get something to run every 120 seconds. I don't really want to use an infinite loop with a sleep if I can avoid it.     Hi, cURL and libcurl let you do things you normally do with a browser, right? Like, as if you have a jini sit inside a server and fire up a browser and do stuff. Ok then. I need a script to sit on server B, and click on download links on a server A and download files (from server A to server B). I am new to curl, and not sure if all I need is to issue a simple get or something else. I know that Content-disposition header forces the browser to save the document. Does it have the same effect on libcurl too? If it does, I'll make my serving script on server A send that header, and then serve the file. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

It's incredibly useful for helping people with a small code sample without creating a project, compiling everything cleanly, sending them the code snippet and deleting the project. I'm not asking about the best code snippets or a snippet editor or where to store snippets! For C#, I use Snippet Compiler. For Java, I use Eclipse Scrapbook. For LINQ, I use LINQPad.     Hi My ASP.Net app is periodically getting the error 'Cannot find the object dbo."XXXX" because it does not exist or you do not have permissions' when it tries to execute a specific stored procedure that writes to the database. I have seen a few forum posts about this issue but the strange thing is that the method works fine almost all of the time, just every now and then I see it in my error logs.     Hi all, I'm using Firefox as my default browser but when working in Visual Studio, I'd like to fire up IE when I go in debug. We all know that in MVC application, there's no way to choose the default browser unless you add a web form file, right click it, select browse with and then force a browser to be the default one. Great. My simple question is: where does VS stores the browser I just tell him to use (registry? project file? some xml config file?)
