• Weird ViewControllers - iPhone SDK

  Hello everyone, I have a Tab-Bar Application for this iPhone application I am making. I make a simple button on the 3rd view (3rd tab), and give it an IBAction to give an alert view. When I press build and go, everything works out fine. I go onto the 3rd tab, and I press my button. It simply crashes... Why is this happening? Everything I put in this 3rd tab crashes. I create a simple view controller, and write the class files to start over, but I keep getting the same errors.. Everything works fine on my first tab, where I originally got the first view controller.. P.S It also says Incomplete Implementation of Class 'ThirdViewController'. I don't know why its there.. If anyone can help me out here, i would greatly appreciate it. Kevin

• How to setup directories in Visual Studio when using boost?

  Hi, I have introduced boost to our code base, on my machine I created a boost directory called Thirdparty.Boost and added that as an additional include directory in my Visual Studio setting, all is fine. However I now want to check in my changes, so the rest of the team can get them. Inorder to build the code they would need to setup boost as I have (problem number 1). In addition we have a build server, which will need changing (problem 2). I have a way of distributing boost to everyone including the build server, so that's not a problem I need a way of referring to the boost directory without changing the default settings in Visual Studio. Why don't you change it on a project level I hear you cry? The solution has over 200 projects, which would require a lot of changes. I just wondered if there was another way? Cheers Rich

• License similar to the MIT license but without the ability to sell?

  I'm trying to decide how I want to license my Wordpress themes to the public. I know that the GPL is recommended to Wordpress theme creators, however I feel it might not be liberal enough for me because I want businesses to be able to use them if they want to. I really like the MIT license, the only thing that gets me is the freedom to sell part. I don't want someone taking my themes and selling them on some theme farm site, they should be free for everyone, however I don't want to require them to republish any changes under the MIT as well, I think that that freedom should remain intact. Is there a license that sort of fits into the terms I specified here? I'm not a lawyer so I have trouble reading through the complicated language of licenses. If there is not a similar license to the MIT but with the terms I have specified, should I just license under a modified MIT? If so, can anyone help me write it? Thanks very much!

• .net Studio Local Database

  Hello everyone, i am designing a local database in .net with wpf as gui. I have added a new database, and added a new table. Through the TableAdapter i generated 2 statements ( 1 statement is a select stmt and 1 is a insert) , i insert name and firstname (id is auto generated). • What is the Browser version of a WebBrowser control in Windows Forms

  I'm building a Windows Forms application which makes use of the WebBrowser control. Can anyone tell me what rendering engine the control uses? Is it fixed based on the version of the .NET framework I'm developing against or is it based on the version of IE installed on the client's machine? Does the client even need IE? In other words, if a website looks right in my application on my machine, is it reasonably safe to assume it'll render right on everyone else's machine? Thanks!

I haven't started coding yet, I'm still in completing the SRS document and i should specify the test cases i'm going to implement after the coding. The project is web based, and i should follow this template in each test case: +++++ Test case ID: Author: Initial state: Preconditions: Use Case: Test input: Expected output: ++++++ The thing is, i don't know what is the difference between "initial state" and "preconditions". I need to control the copy process from a central file server, in a way that helps me know: which user performed the copy Which files were copied where did he pasted them Total size of data copied Time of copy operation If user exceeds the allowed "Copy-Limit", a dialog box requests him to enter administrative credentials or deny him (as it would be configured) Store all this data in a file for later review or send by email. I need to collect this data by putting a utility program on the server itself, without any other installation on client computers. I know about monitoring the Clipboard, but which clipboard would it be? the user's clipboard or the server's clipboard ? And what about drag-drop operation, which doesn't even pass through the clipboard? Any knowledge of whether SystemFileWatcher is useful in such case ? Any ideas ?

• Python/Tkinter Audio Player

  Hey everyone reading this, I've recently got into doing GUI development with Python. Tkinter seems like the easiest and most logical choice starting out. I did a little with wxPython but it was more sophisticated than what I needed. Anyway, I'm developing a media player. Right now it's a simple window with a button to load .wav files. The problem is I would like to implement a pause button now. But, when playing a audio file the GUI isn't accessible again (no buttons can be pushed) till the file is done playing. How can I make the GUI dynamic while an audio file is playing? I was thinking this maybe be because I'm using PyAudio, and their implementation doesn't allow this. Anyway, thanks for any advice before hand.

• How do I draw an ESB on a SoaML diagram?

  I've recently had to draw some architectural diagrams that feature the use of an Enterprise Service Bus. The ESB is critical, so everyone wants it to show up on the diagram. But since it's the center of what everything is connected to, it really of gets in the way. I settled on trying to use SoaML. I color-coded the request points blue and service points green, to help then stand out. The text names on the ports give you a sense of what talks to what, and it's incredibly obvious that everything goes through the ESB. Can anyone comment on my approach? Any suggestions on something better?

I have been looking around for suggestions so that I can prepare and make the most out of my first developer conference. Many articles make suggestions about asking questions, getting involved, being social. These are great! I am also wondering about physical items. I have seen many conference photos with most of the audience having their laptops. Are they just taking notes? Are they working on a problem during the session?   Hi all. I need some opinions here. I'm working on a Django project using buildout to get the dependencies, etc... I use mercurial as DVCS. Now... I need to customize one of the dependencies, so I can do one of the following: (* The changes may not be useful for everyone else.) 1- Do a fork of the project in (github, bitbucket, etc...) maintain my version, and get the dependency with (mercurial or git) recipe. 2- Clone the project, put it in the PYTHONPATH, erase DVCS dirs and add it to my projects version. So every change will be private. Here I need to erase all the info from their DVCS or something. Any other you can think of. I'm missing something? I'm too off? Thanks!

To generate my two keys I used this piece of code : KeyPairGenerator keygen = KeyPairGenerator.getInstance("RSA"); keygen.initialize(512); keyPair = keygen.generateKeyPair(); Once public and private key are generated, I would like to show them to the user so he can distribute the public key and use the private key to decode. How can I get back those key ? Using keygen.getPrivateKey() and keygen.getPublicKey() give me all the information of the RSA algorithm, not only the keys I need. Thanks

I have to eager load the list of addresses so it doesn't generate a lazy loaded proxy. Is there a way to disable lazy loading completely? I never want to see it generated. The second problem. The code is horrible: public fields, no getters/setters huge methods, all public some classes have over 20 fields some classes have over 5 constructors (which are also huge) some of those constructors just left many fields null (so I can't make some fields final, because then every second constructor signals errors) methods and classes rely on each other in both directions I have to rewrite this into a clean and understandable API. Problem is: I myself don't understand anything in this code. Please give me hints on analyzing and understanding such code. I was thinking, perhaps, there are tools which perform static code analysis and give me call graphs and things like this.

• How to sort a Ruby Hash by number value?

  Hi everyone, I have a counter hash that I am trying to sort by count. The problem I am running into is that the default Hash.sort function sorts numbers like strings rather than by number size. i.e. Given Hash: metrics = {"sitea.com" => 745, "siteb.com" => 9, "sitec.com" => 10 } Running this code: metrics.sort {|a1,a2| a2[1]<=>a1[1]} will return a sorted array: [ 'siteb.com', 9, 'sitea.com', 745, 'sitec.com', 10] Even though 745 is a larger number than 9, 9 will appear first in the list. When trying to show who has the top count, this is making my life difficult. :) Any ideas on how to sort a hash (or an array even) by number value size? I appreciate any help.
