• Visual Studio keeps changing resx files

  Hello everyone ! I'm working on a VB.Net project and using SVN. I noticed that every time I use my main form, Visual studio slightly modifies my .resx file, which means that I keep having to re-commit it, which is quite an annoying thing. Has anybody experienced such problems? • How to use the correct Google OpenID url to login to my site?

  Hello everyone: I am trying to implement OpenID as one preferred option to my next web app here The code is taken from this tutorial and works if I use my openID from myopenid.com However, I believe most people would just love to use their everyday email address as their openID, as far as I know, Google, Yahoo, and some other big players have already done this in their systems. My question is: how could I find the correct "url" to enter in the form to login? I used my Google OpenID account for StackOverflow and it works just fine. I try to copy my openID like this: www.google.com/accounts/o8/id?id=aitoawllano10bzdzp3ht0diffry0qt6_j2ls-m And paste it directly into my form, but it doesn't work. I also tried to remove the url parameter, but that won't do, either. Thanks a lot in advance for any tips and suggestions.

  Hello, whats the best way of preventing someone from voting twice? How do i get the users ip address? What if they are on a large network? will everyone on that network show the same ip? thanks UPDATE: request.getRemoteAddr() and request.getRemoteHost() return the Server names, not the client's host name and ip. Anyone else got any bright ideas? Ok, so lets forget about the voting twice thing. Im just trying to get the users ip address? i tried request.getRemoteAddr() and request.getRemoteHost() and think im getting the servers address. I have access to two separate networks and am getting the same IP address :(

• ScrollTo - toggle between min-height/fixed height

  Hi everyone, I'm trying to use the ScrollTo plugin, but I can't seem to get it working properly. I tried to view the source at the site I linked to but I'm trying to achieve something slightly different. I would like the window pane to change size according to the content (so the height would increase for longer text and would decrease for shorter text). However, when I supply a min-height (as opposed to a fixed height), the pane automatically changes to the maximum height when the page is loaded. So if I have something set to margin-top:1000px;, the pane will be 1000px in size regardless of what tab is currently displaying. The fix would be to use height instead, but that would mean that the window won't expand in height and the user would have to scroll. I got my code from viewing the source on the ScrollTo page, but I also tried this tutorial code. Thanks for any help

• Texture allocations being doubled in iPhone OpenGL ES

  The below couple lines are called 15 times during initialization. The tx-size is reported at 512 everytime, so this will allocate a 1mb image in memory 15 times, for a total of 15mb used.. However, I noticed instruments is reporting a total of 31 allocations! (15*2)+1 glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_RGBA, tx-size, tx-size, 0, GL_RGBA, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, spriteData); free(spriteData); Likewise in another area of my program that allocates 6 256x256x4 (256kB) textures.. I see 13 sitting there. (6*2)+1 Anyone know what's going on here? It seems like awful memory management, and I really hope it's my fault. Just to let everyone know, I'm on the simulator.

• Have a reloadData for a UITableView animate when changing

  Hi everyone. I have a UITableView that has two modes. When we switch between the modes I have a different number of sections and cells per section. Ideally, it would do some cool animation when the table grows or shrinks. Here is the code I tried, but it doesn't do anything: CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:context]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.5]; [self.tableView reloadData]; [UIView commitAnimations]; Any thoughts on how I could do this? • Action Controller: Exception - ID not found

  Hi Everyone, I am slowly getting the hang of Rails and thanks to a few people I now have a basic grasp of the database relations and associations etc. You can see my previous questions here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2714621/rails-database-relationships I have setup my applications models with all of the necessary has_one and has_many :through etc. but when I go to add a kase and choose from a company from the drop down list - it doesnt seem to be assigning the company ID to the kase.   Quick Story: I started a new job where everyone funneled their questions to 'the geek'. Being an experienced developer, I can do most of my assignments without consultation with the geek - thinks such as how to select the top 10 rows in a table. Question: Is there a preferred way of handling these cases without offending the existing geek while ensuring the best solution gets implemented? My issue is the the existing geek is very young and makes a lot of mistakes, but still sounds authoritative because the other coders are just out of school and don't know better.

• WPF ItemsControl - how to know when the items finished loading, so that I can focus the first one?

  Hi everyone, I have an ItemsControl in my View, that is bound to an ObservableCollection from ViewModel. The collection is filled, and afterwards an event from VM to view is raised (think search results and SearchFinished event). I would like to move keyboard focus to the first item in an ItemsControl, but when I do it in View's code-behind when handling SearchFinished, the items are not yet rendered (the collection is filled already, but wpf's rendering is asynchronous and didn't happen yet), so there is nothing to focus (Focus() needs to have the items' visual tree already constructed). I wanted to do (myItemsControl.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromIndex(0) as UIElement).Focus();, but as the 0th item is not yet loaded, ContainerFromIndex(0) returns null. I tried delaying it with Dispatcher.BeginInvoke... with low priority, but that is dependent on exact timing and usually doesn't work. How can I wait until the first item in ItemsControl is Loaded?

  Hello everyone :) I have an application that needs to operate on Windows 2000. I'd also like to use Visual Studio 2010 (mainly because of the change in the definition of the auto keyword). However, I'm in a bit of a bind because I need the app to be able to operate on older OS's, namely: Windows 2000 Windows XP RTM Windows XP SP1 Visual Studio 2010's runtime library depends on the EncodePointer / DecodePointer API which was introduced in Windows XP SP2. If using the alternate runtime library is possible, will this break code that relies on C++0x features added in VS2010, like std::regex?

• Best way to implement keywords for image upload gallery

  I'm starting to spec out an image gallery type system similar to Facebook's. Members of the site will be able to create image galleries and upload images for others to view. Images will have keywords the the uploader can specify. Here's the question, what's the best way to model this? With image and keyword tables linked vi a HABTM relation? Or a single image table with the keywords saved as comma delimited values in a text field in the image record? Then search them using a LIKE or FULL TEXT index function? I want to be able to pull up all images containing a given keyword as well as generate a keyword cloud. I'm leaning toward the HABTM setup but I wanted to see what everyone else though. Thanks!!

  Hi, We're currently looking at an IT upgrade and I'm after recommendations for a tool which can do some or all of the following. SVN management (authz, web viewer, commit log, diff) Create template projects (1 click e.g. create me a microsite with this name in svn and give these people access) Reporting on code churn, time spent on tasks on a per project basis User story management Basically like Team Foundation Server but that integrates with SVN properly (reason for this - we have a wide range of skill sets and not everyone can use a TFS client). Is there a combination of Trac plugins + something that can create trac instances (a la Dreamhost's admin panel) that can acheive this. On a side note, does anyone have any experience of version controlling designery type files - e.g. PSDs, Illustrator files. Any advice at all appreciated. Cheers, Rob

• How do I secure all the admin actions in all controllers in cakePHP

  Hello Everyone, I am developing an application using cakePHP v 1.3 on windows (XAMPP). Most of the controllers are baked with the admin routing enabled. I want to secure the admin actions of every controller with a login page. How can I do this without repeating much ? One solution to the problem is that "I check for login information in the admin_index action of every controller" and then show the login screen accordingly. Is there any better way of doing this ? The detault URL to admin (http://localhost/app/admin) is pointing to the index_admin action of users controller (created a new route for this in routes.php file) Thanks

• Adding KeyListener to a JWindow not getting any key events

• Access a content control in C# when using Master Pages

  Good day everyone, I am building a page in ASP.NET, and using Master Pages in the process. I have a Content Place Holder name "cphBody" in my Master Page, which will contain the body of each Page for which that Master Page is the Master Page. In the ASP.NET Web page, I have a Content tag (referencing "cphBody") which also contains some controls (buttons, Infragistics controls, etc.), and I want to access these controls in the CodeBehind file. However, I can't do that directly (this.myControl ...), since they are nested in the Content tag. I found a workaround with the FindControl method. ContentPlaceHolder contentPlaceHolder = (ContentPlaceHolder) Master.FindControl("cphBody"); ControlType myControl = (ControlType) contentPlaceHolder.FindControl("ControlName"); That works just fine. However, I am suspecting that it's not a very good design. Do you guys know a more elegant way to do so? Thank you! Guillaume Gervais.

• Pageview implementation

  Hi everyone I want to add a pageview feature on my current web application. This page view is based on the count of user viewing the page. It must be unique, i.e. I must not view a person's page 10000 times and record it as 10000 views, just record 1 view instead. My question is, should I base my pageview count on IP address? If not, what is/are the best approach in doing this? I know that if the person has logged in to my system, I can simply use the user id stored in the session and check on the record if the user has/hasn't viewed the page and update accordingly. But for "anonymous" viewers, what is the best approach? Thanks. PS How does Youtube does it?

  Hey Everyone, This maybe a very mundane question, but this is the first jQuery plugin that I write and I'm a bit fuzzy on understanding the scope rules in Javascript. I'm trying to write an simple jQuery plugin that wraps around the Stack Overflow API. I'm starting off by trying to work with the Flair API. I wanted to make the plugin as configurable as possible so that you can easily pass it the domain and user id, and generate multiple Flairs. var superUser = $.jStackOverflow.flair({domain:"superuser.com", id: 30162, parentId:'#su-flair'}); var stackOverflow = $.jStackOverflow.flair({domain:"stackoverflow.com", id: 55954, parentId:'#so-flair'}); The problem is, when it makes the second call, its somehow using the correct domain and id parameters, but the parentId field that it's using in the callback function to create the html, is using the first parameter. • Uploadify uploadSettings with scripData does not work

  Hi everyone, I am sending a file to my Java Servlet via jQuery Uploadify, there are no problems while sending the actual file. But when I try to send some scriptData with file along, to process on Servlet it just does not send anything.   I have a javascript application and when I run it on firefox I am getting the following erro on the console: "The stylesheet was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html" is not "text/css". DumbStuck!! EDIT: Note that it tells that "The stylesheet ABCD..." But ABCD is actually an HTML file. Edit (ANSWER) : Actually I had wrongly put href="", and hence the html file was refenecing itself as the CSS. Mozilla had the similar bug once, and it is from there I got the answer. But everyone's else answers helped me too. Thanks.

I know that some of it depends on how complex the pages are but i'm talking about average pages. • Joomla, drupal or dotnetnuke?

  I'm in the process of starting my own podcasting website. I'm trying to find a good cms to use. At work I'm a .net developer and we are starting to use DNN for some small projects around the office. I'd like the new business to be fully open source but it might be nice to use Dnn cause I will already have some experience with it from work. I'm worried that I'll be spreading myself too thin learning php/Lamp at home and .net at work. What does everyone recommend?
