  • MS Access Import from Text File problems

    - by Gavin O'Brien
I'm trying to import a text file into an access database. It's not one I've written myself but the spec for the delimited text file is set up properly and the file imports properly using the wizard. When I try to use the import functions of the app itself, the ImportError table tells "Field Truncation" for one of the fields. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Any .NET '#region directive' convention ideas ?

    - by PaN1C_Showt1Me
I really appreciate the possibility to define regions in your code, as it improves the readability insanely. Anyways, I'd like to have everyone using the same convention in all classes (with the predefined order of all regions) like: Private Fields Constructors Class Properties Event Handlers etc... Do you have any proposition how this division could look like (What regions have sense and what names should they have) and in which order should they be defined ?

  • SELECT table name that is inside UNION

    - by LexRema
I have two same tables. I need to union them in such way: SELECT f1,f2, xxx FROM (SELECT * FROM tbl1 UNION ALL SELECT * FROM tbl2) where xxx would query for a table name, where f1 and f2 fields are taken from. Example output: 123 345 'tbl1' -- this rows are from the first table 121 345 'tbl1' 121 345 'tbl1' 123 345 'tbl1' 124 345 'tbl1' 125 345 'tbl2' -- this rows are from the second table 127 345 'tbl2' Thank you in advance.

  • Where is a good javascript reference for object event handlers?

    - by GregH
I am relatively new to Javascript and constantly need to look up how to handle various events for objects. For example, I have a table containing a few text fields and need to know when somebody starts typing in any of the text boxes. Is there any good concise reference on the web anyplace that documents all of the objects and event handlers associated with all objects? I'd like to be able to look up the object and see all of the events I can handle for that object.

  • Which conventions, events, etc. should I look into attending?

    - by perlox
I am a student programmer and relatively new to the industry. Once I get out into the real world and have money to blow, which events/conventions/conferences/etc. should I look into attending? Which do you consider a must-attend-at-least-once-in-your-life-as-a-developer type of event? Just to clarify, any language, company, size, are acceptable. I'm mostly looking to generate a list of highly regarded conferences for a variety of different fields/interests.

  • SQL server datetime column filter on certain date or range of dates

    - by MicMit
There is an example for today here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2583228/get-row-where-datetime-column-today-sql-server-noob I am primarily interested in 2008 only. For today it looked like SELECT (list of fields) FROM dbo.YourTable WHERE dateValue BETWEEN CAST(GETDATE() AS DATE) AND DATEADD(DAY, 1, CAST(GETDATE() AS DATE)) What literal value of date(s) or functions ( I need a format ) should I place there to make it work independent of local settings.

  • How to discover getters and setters on hibernate objects

    - by Michael Jones
I need to find a way of taking a hibernate object and discovering at runtime all of the getter methods that relate to persistable fields. I'm using annotations in the classes but have previously had difficulties working with them (I ran into a 2 year old bug the java developers still haven't fixed). Does anyone know how I can do this please, ideally without using annotations? Thanks. PS - What I'm trying to do here is to update a new object with values from an existing object dynamically.

  • How to get a list of unrepeatable date from my db in PHP?

    - by SzamDev
    Hi in my db there are 5 fields (id, list_date, amount, total, m_from) and contain data, for example : 1 - 1/1/2010 - 10 - 50 - 'example111' 1 - 1/1/2010 - 10 - 50 - 'example111' 1 - 1/4/2010 - 10 - 50 - 'example154 1 - 1/1/2010 - 10 - 50 - 'example111' 1 - 1/5/2010 - 10 - 50 - 'test' I need to know how I can get dates from list_date but without repeatable dates like '1/1/2010, 1/5/2010, 1/4/2010' Thanks in Advance.

  • Using PHP5s SOAP Client to send data to an ASP/.NET based SOAP server.

    - by user325143
I am trying to write a snippet of PHP to connect to a third party's API via SOAP to enter some data into their database. The API requires me to pass several mandatory fields for every call (username, password, companyid, entitytype) in addition to the mandatory data fields. It also requires me to call the "ValidateEntity" funciton before calling the "CreateEntity" function. Documentation can be found here: http://wiki.agemni.com/Getting_Started/APIs/Database_API I have never worked with SOAP before, so I am very new to this. Here is what I have so far: error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('display_errors', '1'); $client = new SoapClient("http://agemni.com/AgemniWebservices/service1.asmx?WSDL", array('trace'=> true)); $options = array( 'username' => "myuser", 'password' => "mypassword", 'companyid' => myID, 'entitytype' => 2 ); $params = array( 'fname' => "John", 'lname' => "Doe", 'phone' => "859-333-3333", 'zip' => "40332", 'area id' => "12345", 'lead id' => "28222", 'contactdate' => "4/10/2010" ); $validate = $client->__soapCall("ValidateEntity", array($params), array($options)); $client->__soapCall("CreateEntity", array($params), array($options)); echo "<pre>"; var_dump($client-> __getLastRequestHeaders()); var_dump($client-> __getLastRequest()); var_dump($client-> __getLastResponseHeaders()); var_dump($client-> __getLastResponse()); var_dump($result); echo "</pre>"; Upon executing this code, I get the following error: Fatal error: Uncaught SoapFault exception: [Client] SOAP-ERROR: Encoding: object hasn't 'objecttype' property in /www/tmp/index-soap.php:24 Stack trace: #0 /www/tmp/index-soap.php(24): SoapClient->__soapCall('ValidateEntity', Array) #1 {main} thrown in /www/stealth/tmp/index-soap.php on line 24 I guess my question is.. am I even going about doing this the right way? I know this is a very broad question, but I appreciate any advice you can give me about making this work. Please let me know if you require more detail. Thanks!

  • Drupal print module: controlling layout in PDF files?

    - by WhyKiki
So I'm trying to fix the layout of the PDF files for a specific content type. I'm messing around in the tpl.php file and can't find a way to modify individual fields. There's just the massive $print['content'] variable that contains all of the page content. So, is there a way to access each field?

  • Not seeing Sync Block in Object Layout

    - by bob-bedell
It's my understanding the all .NET object instances begin with an 8 byte 'object header': a synch block (4 byte pointer into a SynchTableEntry table), and a type handle (4 byte pointer into the types method table). I'm not seeing this in VS 2010 RC's (CLR 4.0) debugger memory windows. Here's a simple class that will generate a 16 byte instance, less the object header. class Program { short myInt = 2; // 4 bytes long myLong = 3; // 8 bytes string myString = "aString"; // 4 byte object reference // 16 byte instance static void Main(string[] args) { new Program(); return; } } An SOS object dump tells me that the total object size is 24 bytes. That makes sense. My 16 byte instance plus an 8 byte object header. !DumpObj 0205b660 Name: Offset_Test.Program MethodTable: 000d383c EEClass: 000d13f8 Size: 24(0x18) bytes File: C:\Users\Bob\Desktop\Offset_Test\Offset_Test\bin\Debug\Offset_Test.exe Fields: MT Field Offset Type VT Attr Value Name 632020fc 4000001 10 System.Int16 1 instance 2 myInt 632050d8 4000002 4 System.Int64 1 instance 3 myLong 631fd2b8 4000003 c System.String 0 instance 0205b678 myString Here's the raw memory: 0x0205B660 000d383c 00000003 00000000 0205b678 00000002 ... And here are some annotations: offset 0 000d383c ;TypeHandle (pointer to MethodTable), 4 bytes offset 4 00000003 00000000 ;myLong, 8 bytes offset 12 0205b678 ;myString, 4 byte reference to address of "myString" on GC Heap offset 16 00000002 ;myInt, 4 bytes My object begins a address 0x0205B660. But I can only account for 20 bytes of it, the type handle and the instance fields. There is no sign of a synch block pointer. The object size is reported as 24 bytes, but the debugger is showing that it only occupies 20 bytes of memory. I'm reading Drill Into .NET Framework Internals to See How the CLR Creates Runtime Objects, and expected the first 4 bytes of my object to be a zeroed synch block pointer, as shown in Figure 8 of that article. Granted, this is an article about CLR 1.1. I'm just wondering if the difference between what I'm seeing and what this early article reports is a change in either the debugger's display of object layout, or in the way the CLR lays out objects in versions later than 1.1. Anyway, can anyone account for my 4 missing bytes?

  • ODBC: when is the best time to create my database?

    - by mawg
I have a windows program which generates PGP forms which will be filled in later. Those PHP forms will populate a database. It looks very much like MySql, but I can't be certain, so let's call it ODBC. And, yes, it does have to be a windows program. There will also be PHP forms which query the database - examine which tables and fields it contains and then generates forms which can be used to search the database (e.g, it finds a table with fields "employee_name", etc and generates a form which lets you search based on employee name. Let's call that design time and run time. At design time, some manager or IT guy or similar gets to define the nature of the database and at runtime 1) a worker fills in the form daily and 2) management can extract reports. Here's my question: given that the database is defined at "design time" (and populated at run time), where and how is best to do so? 1 I could use an ODBC interface from the windows program, but I am having difficulty finding something good to work with Delphi. Things like ADO and firebird tend to expect you to already have a database and allow you to manipulate it, but I can find no code example of how to create a database and some tables, so ... 2 I could used DOS commands from Delphi in my windows program. I just tried and got a response to MySql --version, but am not sure if MySql etc are more interactive. That is, can I use a script file or a very long stacked command with semicolons and returns separating? e.g 'CREATE DATABASE db; CREATE TABLE t1;' 3) Since the best way to work with databases seems to be PHP, perhaps my windows program could spit out a PHP page which would, when run in a browser, create the database. I have tried to make this as uncomplicated as I can, but please feel free to ask questions. It may be that there are several valid ways, but there is probably one 'better' solution in terms of ease of implementation or maintenance. Better scratch option 3. What if the user later wants to come back and have the windows program change the input form? It needs to update the database too.

  • C#. Where struct methods code kept in memory?

    - by maxima120
It is somewhat known where .NET keeps value types in memory (mostly in stack but could be in heap in certain circumstances etc)... My question is - where is the code of the struct? If I have say 16 byte of data fields in the struct and a massive computation method in it - I am presuming that 16 byte will be copied in stack and the method code is stored somewhere else and is shared for all instances of the struct. Are these presumptions correct?

  • Is it safe to modify CCK tables by hand?

    - by LanguaFlash
I'm not intimately familiar with CCK but I have a one-time custom setup and know that I could get some performance gains if I created indexes and changed the field type and length of some of the fields in my CCK table. Is it save to modify this table at all or will I end up destroying something in the process? Thanks

  • has_many :through name suggestions

    - by user1084769
I have three models, user, achievement, badge and I plan on using has_many :through instead of has_many_and_belongs_to since I will have a few extra fields in the join tables. According to a Railscast I watched, using this method requires coming up with new model names and not user_badge or user_achievement. For my User Achievement join what do you think of Accomplishment? For my User Badge join what do you think of Distinction?

  • Why should Java ThreadLocal variables be static

    - by kellyfj
I was reading that JavaDoc for Threadlocal here http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/ThreadLocal.html and it says "ThreadLocal instances are typically private static fields in classes that wish to associate state with a thread (e.g., a user ID or Transaction ID). " But my question is why did they choose to make it static (typically) - it makes it a bit confusing to have "per thread" state but its static?

  • Iterating through struct fieldnames in MATLAB.

    - by Noio
My question is easily summarized as: "Why does the following not work?" teststruct = struct('a',3,'b',5,'c',9) fields = fieldnames(teststruct) for i=1:numel(fns) fns(i) teststruct.(fns(i)) end output: ans = 'a' ??? Argument to dynamic structure reference must evaluate to a valid field name. Especially since teststruct.('a') does work. And fns(i) prints out ans = 'a'. I can't get my head around it.

  • Not Equal two Generic Lists

  • Fill 4 input with one textarea

    - by Patrice Poliquin
    I have a question for the community. My problem is that I have 4 input files with a maxlength of 60 caracters for a total of 240 caracters. Because the "backend" of the customer's system, it need to be 4 differents inputs max to be inserted and they say it is not user-friendly to fill 4 fields. My solution I want to make a textarea and when you fill it, il complete the 4 fields. [input text #1] max60 [input text #2] max60 [input text #3] max60 [input text #4] max60 [textarea max 240] What I am trying to do is to make by javascript/jQuery to fill up the four field while typing in. At the moment, here is my code. $(document).ready(function() { // My text area $("#inf_notes").bind('keydown', function () { var maxLength = 240; if ($(this).val().length <= 60) { // The first 60 caracters $('#inf_notes_1').val($(this).val()); } if ($(this).val().length > 60 && $(this).val().length <= 120) { // If more then 60, fill the second field $('#inf_notes_2').val($(this).val()); } // If 121 - 180 ... // If 181 - 240 ... if($(this).val().length == 240) { $(this).val($(this).val().substring(0, maxLength)); $('.alert_textarea').show(); // Simple alert else { $('.alert_textarea').hide(); } }); }); It actually works for the first one, but I would like to have some feedbacks to help me complete the script to fill the 3 nexts. Any guess to complete it? -- EDIT #1 I found a way that could maybe work! When the first input is completly filled, it will jump to the next field with a .focus() $(".inf_notes").bind('keydown', function () { var notes1 = $('#inf_notes_1').val(); var notes2 = $('#inf_notes_2').val(); var notes3 = $('#inf_notes_3').val(); if (notes1.length == 60) { $('#inf_notes_2').focus(); } if (notes2.length == 60) { $('#inf_notes_3').focus(); } if (notes3.length == 60) { $('#inf_notes_4').focus(); } });

  • Preferred Access point name

    - by rantravee
Hi, I'm hoping that someone will explain to me what preferred access point name refers to in the android system , and what is it's role . Also I'd like to know if by messing with all APN (adding a suffix to the "apn" and "type" fields to disable 3G/EDGE/GPRS connections , and the deleting this suffix ) , the preferred APN can be disrupted. Also if it need special settings in case an APN manipulation is desired.
